[Tool] Panel Info (lgd/jdi) [Tool] - G2 Android Development

Panel Info
Some of you already use it or have used it.
It will detect if your pannel is LGD or JDI.
thx to @Cloudyfa on informations, hints, suggestions about it, basically it's only a wrapper for the command he used in his thread.
I thought if I should post it or not, since I've already released the LKF - Little Kernel Flasher, first I thought not to post it..then I thought, people need information in one tool, then they can handle with other tool if needed so i decided to post it.
Q) Does my G2 have to be rooted ?
A) YES
So IF your panel type is jdi you can either flash kernel which is suitable for your panel OR proceed to LKF thread and it will automatically detect the panel, patch the kernel and flash it.
The interface itself is clear, simple. If you've got issues please post them here in a clear form with full and understanding sentence.
thx

Just different types. Jdi is Japanese I think.

So having this version lgd I will not worry about patching my kernels, personally I have never had issue with white lines.

Kernel devs are now creating and naming the kernels in a way you will see which one is right for you.
Usually if it's just the kernel name then it's the LGD. If it's in the jdi folder or the name contains jdi then it's for jdi.
also, if you get the lines it means you have to flash the opposite one.
But it's easier this way, just informative.

They are mostly set of commands but yes I know some people want to do things but are uncomfortable typing and fiddling around. It's better shortening the time, make this little things faster and mostly safer. It's a pleasure whenever the tools help someone , you're welcome.

Nice work, bud. Btw, I think you should add the info that the app requires running on stock kernel (before using AutoRec or flashing any kind of custom/patched kernel) because I know many pp will try to run it after they have white lines issue and the result may not be correct

Thx for pointing it out again m8, I thought of it, too. I'll make it communicate with people to recorrect the status if needed(lkf too):"do you currently have a white line issue?" if yes then the opposite result is correct, if no then the current result is true
4. June 2014 - Added v1.1 - More accurate informations depending on user input.

I'm vexed.. Yesterday the app said jdi and today lgd. How is that?

New day, new chances to win m8. Joking.
It detects whatever your current kernel is.
If it detects lgd and you say that you've got WHITE lines then it knows that your panel is actually JDI.
If it shows jdi and then it asks you if you see white lines and you say yes, then it knows it's lgd actually.

Well. You "have" whichever kernel you flash at the last
If the tool has mistaken then it's because of user input

Hi @bender_007
when you talk about white lines, to what lines do you refer?
I have white lines, vertical when the screen is off, and if I saw the screen in a wide angle and with light over the phone.
also, with the command "grep|dmesg -i panel" it shows LGD panel.
I´m using Omnirom with the stock omnirom kernel.
So, I don´t know with option do I have to chose in your app (white lines yes or not)
thanks!

[APP REQ] Moto X Active Display

I know the source code has not yet dropped (or maybe it has and I'm doing it wrong) but supposedly this will work with any AMOLED display. Not sure if it's just an app or if it involves framework mods (I'm sure it will need them on CM/AOKP/AOSP).

Nope, I understand that - which is exactly what ActiveDisplay does - manipulates the AMOLED screen to allow for notifications to come through without actually waking the phone.
That 3rd party app kind of works but not like I thought, granted it's in a beta state at the moment. I was reading on another thread that there are a few tweaks needed for framework, etc to get the Motorola app to work without Motoblur, but I'm sure they'll get it to work properly eventually.
All of that being said - I'm going ask that a dev to close this thread, since there seems to be enough discussion about this in the non-device specific forums.

[APP][MOD] Camera 5.1.620655 from 4.2.2 on 4.3 | Sense 5 [20130926-info]

Hi guys! I've been using @olvrick's camera from his thread [APP][SENSE][M7]Camera.apk from newest 2.25 base with GIF support and better quality, but it only works on Android 4.2.2, so I made a little repack for 4.3, nothing special.
[highlight]NOTE 1: Camera from FW 3.18 is the same version like the one from FW 3.17.
NOTE 2: There is no camera in FW 3.22 OTA update.[/highlight]
Download links:
Camera_422_on_43_v2-lite.zip
BUG:
When you click on the thumbnail to review the photo, it shows you last taken one and only details are available.
But when you click back once (just once), you are still in gallery, but this time it has options and you can scroll through photos.
Click back once more and you are back to camera.
Camera_422_on_43_v1-lite.zip
If you messed with camera before this mod/apk:
Camera_422_on_43_v2-full.zip
NOTE: Nothing special about this one, no extra features, just extra files to replace messed up ones.
Camera_422_on_43_v1-full.zip
And if you wanna restore original from 4.3:
Camera_restore_on_43_v2-full.zip
Camera_restore_on_43_v1-full.zip
Changelog:

EDIT: ROM already DL'ed, so I had to check it out... Flash Camera_422_on_43_v1-lite.zip and you should get another camera. Don't use full version. With lite none of the original files will be removed, so it would be easy to remove this one if it's not working.

Thanks for confirmation! Full doesn't make any difference for you cause you are on close-to-stock (look-like-stock) ROM.
As for the question, answer is no, no extra on-screen options, those would be Viper Cam options you are talking about.

Yes, I just noticed it myself. Didn't notice it before, as I don't use it, just take the shots, then later check them through Gallery. Probably broken links between Camera and Gallery, cause of different Android versions.
Solution is to live with it, or flash restore zip from 1st post, until I try to fix it, but I can't promise a fix cause I'm not that skilled (yet)

Thank you for the quick reply!
Before this mod was created I tried flashing the original camera file for 4.2.2 that this mod is based on...camera itself worked with some minor issues, however I did get a force close whenever I tried to view the pictures I had just taken in gallery.
One thing I noticed was it had more on screen options like ISO etc, it also had the ability to make the capture bottons transparent.
Was that original file Viper Cam? If not I'm just curious if maybe those options broke when the mod was created.
Regardless, I love this mod. Thank you very much!!!!

I'll try, but I can't promise anything, as I don't use GE ROMs and I'm not a developer, just sharing something that worked for me.
If they would allow the use of it that would be amazing! As long as it is based on the new-er build like this one.

I have just installed it. There are no partition changes, so no data was lost. GPS works great, whole system feels very snappy.
There is 13mp option in camera, but image is then stretched vertical, on 8mp setting everything is fine. same result with Vsco cam app (also it crashes), with Focal app its ok on 13mp. Also there is no photo sphere. Gonna try some camera apps from nexus devices, see how it goes.

- after restart there is navigation bar and have to turn it on/off and then it's ok

[Q] Fine black horizontal lines

Hey guys...
With the release of CM12+ and derivatives comes a rare issue for Z1c owners that only a few people are experiencing and we're trying to track down it's origin.
We believe that it is tied to the new thermanager.xml which replaced sysmon.cfg when LP came out and also the type of display that your Z1c has. Sony used 2 versions of the display when they produced the Z1 and the Z1c.
We'd like to try and find as many of those who like us experience this black line issue which randomly appears when certain conditions are met (we have yet to discover exactly what they are ) but in combination with battery temp rise so you feel the device getting hot.
Here is a video of the issue in action :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9wyRHnjH3E&feature=youtu.be
Please let us know the display type you have which can be read via ES file explorer

yes... indeed it seems the JDI panel is the culprit.
We need a few of us with the JDI panel and unlocked bootloader to install the FXP AOSP 5.1 Build 150522 (needs fastboot flash) and run it to try and invoke the black line issue.... so whatever you have had running previously on your device when you've experienced the issue needs to be replicated to see if it happens using this ROM (which has the original thermanager.xml.)
EDIT:.... if you run this test and get the issue still happening please can you take a photo of it while on the 'about phone' tab scrolled down to show the Kernel and Build Number info which displays that the device has AOSP 5.1 installed..... then either post here or send to me whichever you like.
Once we get the results of this we have a way forward to get this issue fixed for any ROM use.

yes... indeed it seems the JDI panel is the culprit.
We need a few of us with the JDI panel and unlocked bootloader to install the FXP AOSP 5.1 (needs fastboot flash) and run it to try and invoke the black line issue.... so whatever you have had running previously on your device when you've experienced the issue needs to be replicated to see if it happens using this ROM (which has the original thermanager.xml.)
Once we get the results of this we have a way forward to get this issue fixed for any ROM use.

F***! There still remain the strips! I have just checked..They begin from the loading screen. I installed 150522

Ok.... thanks for trying this John.... lets see if others also confirm.... but don't worry, this was not intended to fix but rather to pin down the source. We are organised for a developer who has a good connection direct to Sony to get the appropriate changes made for those of us with the JDI panels once we know absolutely for sure that the issue stems from the original Sony thermanager.xml which is what resides inside this AOSP 5.1 ROM.

I took AOSP_L_MR1_150522_amami.zip it to the bottom of the list of references
So... which version of the test?

I'm fairly certain that any of the builds will be ok to use for this test.... especially as you just tested the latest and still get the black lines. I doubt very much whether thermanager.xml has been changed at all since it was released for amami.
But of course the other ROM devs such as CM may well have made changes.... this is why we need to be sure it originates from the Sony file.... so this test is the logical way to discover the answer.... begin with the source.

Well, I have installed this AOSP_L_MR1_150522_amami.zip version, and the strip is still there)
This latest version, therefore no changes

John.... please can you open your 'about phone' tab and scroll down so you can see 'kernel' and 'Build Number' info showing the AOSP as installed and with the black lines over the top and take a photo of this please....?
The more ammunition we have to give Sony the better for us to get our fix... the right people at Sony can then see with their eyes also.....

Apologies.... I thought you probably would have returned to your original ROM after the test.... Ideally I should have thought to ask for the photo with original request.... not to worry.... if you can find anyone else this would be a bonus
thanks

Question Custom kernels?

Hi,
Any developers around here working on custom kernels already?
It would be nice if @flar2 and @Freak07 would work on our Pixel 6 Pro!
Kernel source code is available from Google: https://android.googlesource.com/device/google/raviole-kernel/
Let the games begin!
I have some stuff started, just wrapping my head around the GKI and modules
@DespairFactor, sweet! I'm mostly interested in using color control with the ElementalX app first.

True words have never been spoken. The hue white point of this device is this weird yellowish tint. KCAL is an absolute must to get the screen to look nice and coolish blue tint like other devices.

Is it? Ugh, I haven't really used the device yet. I like my screens with a coolish blue tint too.
Most of the developers probably cant get a pixel 6 currently haha
I'd lend one mines. 7T is operating perfectly and I can't port my number for another ENTIRE MONTH

Same here. Tad bit different. Would like to figure out how to decompile the modules. For curiosity sake... . Been awhile since I compiled anything.

don't see any reason why you'd do this, the source is readily available

I thought the modules source wasn't available.... Again it's been awhile and it's slightly different than before. Just sync'd the repo at this point, so I haven't really looked hard yet.

Here you go
kernel/google-modules/ - Git at Google
@DespairFactor
I meant these .ko files. Thought these were the vendor specific modules that get loaded separately from the GKI? Honestly I haven't a clue. I at least got it compiling, so its a start. I do this as a challenge/to keep myself busy. Learn as I go.

Some are in the kernel source too
@DespairFactor
Have you compiled yet? What's the difference between the vendor_boot.img and the boot.img that gets outputted? The checksums are different, but the filesize is the same? Haven't unpacked them to see if I can tell the difference yet.

I believe this is the vendor modules. Did you compile manually or using google's script? Feel free to reach out to me directly on telegram. I have a link in my sig that opens a chat with me.
