[Q] root on p607t? - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Q&A, Help & Troubl

Am I just being stupid or is there a way to root the new note 10.1 2014 edition on t-mobile's network? The model is SM-P607T & I don't see that listed anywhere on odin/s list or anything. Or is it just too soon from release?

I am looking for this as well since i got one today. It looks like it is the same thing as the P605 which is LTE. The non LTE ones do not use the Qualcomm chip. It also looks like 4.4.2 just came out for the P605 not to long ago and there really isn't anything out for it yet. Bigbuff is talking about updating TWRP to 4.4.2 for the P605. At that time I am sure we will get a recovery and be able to flash SuperSU. If it is out already I have not found it and would like to know as well.

OK so it's not just me then. Usually by the time I get a device all this stuff is out all ready.

I wonder if you can use the international version P605. That's got the qualcomm chip with LTE. I have the 605v and there's been no development for it. Verizon has locked the bootloader, as they tend to do, so we are stuck. If you understand Knox and how that works I would try the P605 method. I tried it on mine and it failed and it didn't cause any damage.

Have you guys tried to put your tablets into download mode. My underdstanding you need to hold down volume down plus the power button for three seconds, but when I try this mine boots into regular mode and not the download mode. Can someone else try this and see if you get a different outcome?

Haven't tried it but you have to add home to that as well I thought. Yeah, Google search:
Boot your phone into Download Mode by Pressing and Holding the Volume Down + Home + Power buttons at the same time till you see a warning message on your screen. You’ll be asked to hit the Volume Up to continue into download mode.

its Power + Vol-D + Home gets you to a screen that says vol up to get to download mode or vol down to reboot. I can get to Download mode by doing that. I am going to try doing the P605 root they have out and see how that goes in asec. Make sure you down the Full Odin Firmware.
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=29807
So you can use this if you need to.

Good luck! I'm not adventurous enough to try it.

WARNING: By doing this your Spen will not work anymore
Ok here is how to root the P607T right now. It is the same way as Root for the P605 right now. After reading http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2766394&page=9
on post 88. Someone with the P605 used the P905 CF-Auto root to root their 605.
here are the steps
1. Download to your PC http://download.chainfire.eu/385/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-viennalte-viennaltexx-smp905.zip
2. Reboot your P607T into Download Mode. You can do this by turning off the tablet. then hold Home + Vol-D + Power you will get a screen that says Press Vol D to get into Download mode.
3. Plug your P607T into your PC.
4. Open Odin 3.07 which is included with the down you already did. You should see a Blue tab that says something like Com1.
5. Make sure the only thing that is checked is Auto-reboot.
6. Click PDA and file the CF-Auto-Root-viennalte-viennaltexx-smp905.tar that was in the Zip file you just unziped.
7. Click start and wait.
Your tablet will now reboot into a P905 recovery and flash SuperSU. It can take awhile for the reboot into recovery to happen so just wait. After this is all done your tablet will boot back into Android. Go into the play store and update SuperSU. SuperSU will keep FCing until you update it in the Playstore.
Now here is the problem we run into if you do all this. After CF-Auto Root is done it is going to put a P905 recovery on your Tablet not a P607T recovery. If you want to get your P607T recovery back for future OTAs you need to Odin the full Firmware for the P607T which you can find here. http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=29807 Once they get a working TWRP for KitKat and the P605 we should be able to get everything else we need to get back our old recovery.
Now another problem That I have found as well is that the Spen does not work after doing this. I do not really care because I do not really use the Spen. I know there is a fix in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2766394&page=9 but I have yet to get it to work because I do not know how to type the *#2663# in phone app and then update wacom firmware from kernel to get the Spen to work. We do not have a Phone app to do that. So you are warned that your Spen will not work after doing this.
Other Wise enjoy root until a better way is out.

No clue I don't use LTE I just opened a 200mb line to get the Tablet on EIP. I will pop in my sim when i get home from work and check it for u.
Edit: yes lte still works I am still trying to fix the spen however that still doesn't work.

Also looks like TWRP has a working recovery now for the P607T. here is a link to a odin file for it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53138918&postcount=776 I would use that and just flash SuperSU with it. should give you root and hopefully a working Spen.

May be possible to use mobile odin pro and inject root to the stock firmware, without tripping the knox flag?
This works on the note 3, upgrading to 4.3.
Edit: mobile odin requires to have already root, I used it when upgrading to 4.3
to not lose root.
Thanks.

To late... I already tripped stupid knox. hehe I love the samsung note lines but I really REALLY hate knox! Just a reason for them to deny warranty, or else it'd be optional.
That odin file worked great. Now to wait for some custom roms.....

Just jumping in on the got-this-yesterday train and glad to see some folks have jumped on ahead of me. Thanks for the information you've all provided thus far. I'm hopeful that development on this thing will be strong, I'm liking the device so far.
I'm interested in rooting ASAP but I've been out of the Android loop for a little while, so this KNOX thing freaks me out a bit (I'm just getting familiar with what it is). Seems like it is a simple warantee related thing. Is it irreversible? How common is flashing a custom ROM without triggering it? Does it affect usability at all to have it triggered?
I'm interested if flashing this this evening but not really sure what I'm in for as far as KNOX.

Edit: Originally used root de la vega method for the note3. Mobile odin requires root.
The procedure to inject root with mobile odin pro is on the international note 3 forum.
Worked for my tmo note 3 upgrading to 4.3 and not lose root, but only flashing the original firmware.
Any custom rom, custom recovery or custom kernel will trip knox.
This is not tested yet on the note 10.1 2014.
Will check on the mobile odin thread or Chainfire's blog.
Tripping knox for now is irreversible and voids the warranty.
Normal device operation is not affected. What is lost is the security feature.
Only a concern if your company uses knox, and you use your device for work.
I am going to wait a few weeks, hoping for a no knox tripping root method,
to keep the warranty. But I know that eventually will not care on tripping knox.

Well fudge! I never thought to test the s pen before I rooted. Guess what, it doesn't work.

I posted a big huge warning sign saying that the s pen would not work if you rooted
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk

No I mean it didn't work hardware wise. I thought the touch screen was off by 1/4th an inch but never thought to try the s pen before last night. I even flashed back to stock and it was the same way. Where ever you touched with the s pen it'd either do nothing or it'd randomly draw in a tiny little square up near a corner. The touch screen was really noticeable trying to click on links in chrome cuz I'd always missing, but I thought it was me till I realized the s pen didn't work either. Then I figured it was just the hardware was messed up. Messing around in the drawing app proved that the touch screen was off to a corner by 1/4th an inch. Even if I turned the device around it always was off to that same physical corner.

Oh! Also, I used the new Odin file btw. I assume the s pen works on that one. Never did use the one for the P905, that you posted with that warning.

[Q] why is the stock att rom the only one nobody has?

After being an iphoner right from the get-go, (jailbreaker of course), i finally got bored and moved on. plus, i really wanted a big screen. so i got a gn2 about a month ago, and rooted it on my mac two weeks ago using the CWM/mac/heimdall method. i have been running the stock-but-rooted rom, and not put on a custom rom yet. i have no real good reason for this, but for pure educational purposes and a desire for complete control, and/or warranty reason should they arise, i would like to do a full unroot and restore a stock rom. BUT everywhere I look, I can easily find every possible stock rom from every carrier and every country... except at&t (sgh-i317). i know i can use other that are similar. but my question is, WHY is what is potentially the most common/popular rom of them all, NOT widely available?
second question is: ok, so it's hard to find. but does it exist at all? if so, where? i tried to flash this one, (not allowed to post the link), using the CWM console that got put on the phone when I rooted it, but is fails every time I try saying the file or rom is "bad". is it bad, or do I need to do something else? FWIW, the fail flashings of this rom do no brick my phone. it reboots normally to the stock rooted rom i've been using since I rooted it two weeks.
oops, looks like i can't post links but the sgh-i317 rom i found was at a well-known net repository of stock roms

I found this over in the dev section in the Reference sticky.
http://www.hotfile.com/dl/181184536/fa1bbef/I317UCALJ2_I317ATTALJ2_ATT.zip.html
I haven't downloaded it, so I couldn't tell you what's in there. It might be a CWM flashable rom-only zip, or it might be odin-flashable files in there. You'll have to download and see.
Edit: Did a little more research.. That's an Odin tar file inside the zip.

I had to do a double take and make sure I wasnt writing this post. I am in almost the same boat under similar circumstances. I have been waiting for the stock rom for 2 months . I got my AT&T Note 2 in November and went through the root process and had a problem somewhere along the way and had to use a custom rom to get up and running again. Since then I have waited patiently for a stock rom to show up that would get me back to normal . My phone has been working , but my signal strength is bad and I can show 3 bars on my phone , but when I go to make a call , it drops to zero and I cannot make a call . This happens at work all the time and at home most of the times. My incoming calls are not accepted and are routed to my voice mail , which I cant listen to until I get to an area where I get a better signal . I cannot live like this for 2 years , I need this fixed . Just want to get back to stock , with no root , no custom roms , etc . I never had this problem with my iphone ! Love the Note 2 , but come on man!

Why not flash cleanrom att special edition and the correct modem. I have not had any issues with his rom. Did you do a backup of the stock rom before you flashed a custom rom? If you did go back to your stock backup.
www.stockroms.net
so i see we're all pretty junior here. none of the experienced folks have chimed in here yet.
getting back on topic, you could make a case that the att stock rom could/should be the most widely used rom in the entire gn2 world. yet it does not appear to be widely available, when the most obscure ones are. why is this?
-peter
thank you for posting that link, "member", because i couldn't. that's where i got the one that gives a "bad" or "corrupt" when i try to flash it in the CWM console.
sooo, is it corrupt? or is it user error on my part where i have to do something to the .zip file to make the CWM flash console able to use it? or do i have to flash it with mobile odin, (which i don't know how to use, yet).
-peter
ok member, i just unzipped the sgh-i317 file from stockroms and there is a .tar file in there, but "kies" is in the name of it. does that mean i have to use kies to flash it?

Hey so the only way to get back stock ATT (well the only way I know) is through ODIN. So follow these steps if you want your old AT&T unroot back, then root it again for a stock root experience.

And that .tar file is read only by odin I believe. I do not think you can flash it through CWM or TWRP, but I am fairly new to android (last 2 weeks, and before that 6 years of iOS). So I could be wrong.

For pcrussell50, you'll use Heimdall to flash that .tar file. I use Windows so I've never used Heimdall, so I definitely cannot help you with it. Good luck!

success... i think. used mobile odinPRO to flash the rom on stockroms net then rebooted in to download mode and sure enough, there is no longer a binary count, where it used to read "1" and it shows the binaries as stock. a further check under settings>about device>status, all the way at the bottom shows device status: normal. it used to say device status: modified until this flash of the stock rom from stockroms.
now the mystery... am i still rooted? SU, Ti backup, triangle away (which i never used), and mobile odinPRO icons are still on the home screen. i do not know if these things go away automatically after unrooting or if they still hang around. but when i try to boot into the CWM recovery mode, (volume up-center home-power it boots to a similar, but stock looking interface. that makes me think it's unrooted now.
overall pretty satisfied. i'll roll like this for a few days and try to pick up the new ota update and re-root again.
thx, peter
even more success...
i picked up the ota update to 4.1.2 just as if it was totally stock--so i think now i AM totally stock, after waking up this morning rooted, and spending parts of today unrooting back to factory stock. so now i know i can do it. i'll re-root here again when i can get some time. thanks all, and i'll try to help anyone else in my boat as best i can.
-att gn2 sgh-i317, now running 4.1.2
-rooted to stock rom, then unrooted
-using a mac for rooting/syncing

i must not have had it ticked, because after reading your post above, i went to odin (still on my phone) and tried to open it and it told me i need to have root (super user) to use it. it said no such thing when i was rooted, so at this point i _think_ i'm not rooted. i'll look for the app in the app store for even more confirmation.

So glad I left iOS. Even with a jailbreak it's nothing compared to android. I been rooted since day 1 and now I'm running the type 3 international stock rom by micosa. It's beautiful! Love the inverted apps for battery saving! I also have a swift flow beta keyboard and I lowered the height of the keyboard so there is more screen real estate with the keyboard up. And with s pen board switcher, I can go to handwriting mode as soon as I pull out s pen!

[Q] New to Android/S3. Bought Unlocked S3 and have a few questions about Cyanogenmod

Hi All,
Apologies if this is the wrong place to ask these questions. Please let me know if I should move the thread.
Backstory: I bought an unlocked S3 off of craigslist last weekend. I bought a SIM card adapter so my nano-sim from my iPhone 5 will work in the S3. I really love the phone, minus a few issues. I can't get LTE to work, and the battery seems to be pretty bad as it's constantly searching and dropping my 3g cell signal.
It's running Android 4.2.2 via Cyanogenmod. All I know is that this is not the standard Touchwiz OS that ships with the S3 from samsung, and is a variant of the standard 4.2.2 OS from Google.
Questions:
1. Is my lack of LTE due to the OS? Someone recommended to me that I should put the phone back to the stock Touchwiz OS (via Mobile Odin), which would enable the LTE. Think that's the case? Or is this an issue with my Nano SIM and AT&T account?
2. Using this Cyanogen 4.2.2, I don't get any onscreen notifications when I get a text, email or calendar alert. My friends with stock S3's and Notes all get these types of notifications. Am I missing something with Cyanogen 4.2.2 or should I try to go back to Touchwiz?
3. If I were to go back to touchwiz, I was told I could just download it onto my S3 sim card and install/load it via Mobile Odin. Is this the case? This is my first time working with Android phones, so it's all greek to me for now. If I switch to stock Touchwiz, will I lose all of my aps and configurations and have to re-set it up? What other cool things would I be losing?
I really do love this phone and would love to stick with it over my iPhone 5. The lack of LTE, good battery life (probably can be improved with tweaks) and onscreen notifications are making it tough for me to make this my daily driver.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!
what is the model number of your device? i747, i9300, etc.
without getting too technical at the moment, you're running a nightly release (not always stable) of an operating system. it was probably flashed on your device half-a** and you are experiencing bugs because of these 2 things. the thing about buying a used phone that is rooted running a custom rom is, you dont have a clue about its history. how things were run/setup/installed, etc. not a deal breaker, as i bought mine used, just have to consider starting over with it from square A in order to get and keep it running properly.
before you start changing/flashing anything, i would browse the forum and begin reading up. the more you know, the smoother and safer everything will go for you

CyanogenMod version: 10.1-20130304-NIGHTLY-d2ATT

in my opinion, i would start over. thats just me, though. you might not want to download and setup everything again, though. if you do opt to reset, decide if you want to continue using a custom ROM or stock Samsung Touchwiz. in either case, you wont need to purchase anything. do you have a PC?

It's an AT&T S3 on AT&T (using my iphone 5 nanosim). I guess I didnt need to buy it unlocked, but that's what I got off of craigslist. I did not get the unlock code from the seller, but I could probably still get that from them easily.

Read the thread in the development section about how to root without flashing trip counter. It tells you where to download Odin, what file to download and flash, and how to do it. Can get you back on a stock touchwiz ROM (+ root) in no time!

i think that returning to stock is the best way to get started on fixing these issues, whether you decide to stay on it or continue on to flashing something else.
here's the link to the stock firmware download: http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390212717148635192
here's the link to Odin: http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390275921635705049
here's a video i would recommend watching first: http://youtu.be/hqDW--uUX_8
Part 1: Backup and Wipe
Boot into recovery (vol up + home + power. release power button when device vibrates)
Go to backup and restore (use Volume Up / Down buttons in CWM).
Select Backup (power button in CWM).
After backup, go back to main screen and select Wipe data/factory reset
Select Wipe Cache
Select Advanced and Wipe Dalvik Cache
Part 2: Install stock firmware and Wipe
Extract the root66_xxx_.tar.md5 from the .7z file you downloaded.
Use Odin, put phone into download mode [with phone off, hold vol. down + home + power ], connect to computer and open Odin.
once in odin click the PDA field and select the root66_xxx_.tar.md5 you downloaded.
Leave F. Reset Time checked.
click start
When you get a PASS, unplug the phone and pull the battery. wait a second, replace and immediately go into recovery (vol up + home + power. release the power button at vibrate)
Select wipe data and wipe cache again.
Reboot and you're good to go

I agree with the above poster, returning to stock using the described method should fix your problems then you can decide if you want to stay stock or flash another ROM.
I think you should stay stock for at least a few days to get a general sense of how things should work, that way when you flash custom ROMs you will have a better idea what is broken and what is just typical android behavior.

agreed. as a matter of fact, stay stock for a week. the first 48 hours will really be just letting the software settle in. dont judge battery performance based off those first 2 or 3 days. let it get up and running.
Check your APN see if they are correct

[Q] I think my S4 got bricked

Hi all,
from a big smile to sad face... that is how it's been for the past 24 hours
I rooted the phone then went to back up the stock rom after that wiped data, cache, dalvik then went on trying to instal Omega 4.0 and suddenly i got this message my external sd is unreadable. rebooted the phone and noticed that it takes me directly to the downloader screen. i tried to fix the phone by bringing it back to it's stock condition but no luck. I used Odin and so far it's the only thing the phone responds to but no luck with fixing it... I am trying to download the official stock fw hint this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2267895
but it stops and never finishes the whole amount of data... this seems the only way for me revive my phone back to life!
any suggestions what should I do now? it stopped showing the downloader screen now since I flashed the kernel drive for the S4 through Odin and now shows the black screen with the "Samsung Galaxy S4" writing.
by the way it keeps telling me that my phone isn't rooted but I did root it! am using twrp recovery.
I just got the phone from t-mobile 2 days ago and am debating on returning the phone back to them as the phone is still bootable to the recovery and that might revoke my warranty "i guess?"
Is it possible just to walk in to t-mobile store and swap the phone with another one since it didn't pass the 2 weeks returning window? I also got the phone insurance for it.
Please help, I sure need my phone back in working condition...
Omega 4 is for the octa core so thats why your phone bricked. If you can grt into download mode odin the stock files. If you can get into recovery try flashing a rom made for the phone. Dont freak out just read read read and youll be fine.

ayeeee ppl trying to reach me over the phone and they can't because of this stupid brick! well stupid me because I didn't know that Omega is for Octa core phone version... Yeah I can get it to download mode and recovery mode but is it possible just flash the stock file from the recovery instead of odin? I am waiting for that stock fw download to finish hint it's on hotfile and going in turtle speed!
your bricked, im pretty sure flashing stock wont help you (hasnt from my past experience) but doesnt hurt to give it a try.
i dont think will just give you another one, even though its in the two week window, because its your fault and not the result of hardware failure. the age old "oh i updated and not it wont turn on" probably wont wort because there are little to none reports of that happening. plus (and this is me assuming, correct me if im wrong) but when in download mode it probably shows custom status, which auto voids any warranty. but once again, doesnt hurt to try.
Unfortunately, from my past experience, your SOL
If the phone turns on and has download and recovery you are not bricked....only soft brick and the odin file should work. Just be patient and wait for it to finish

I just did the motochopper method and as I am reading now about the possibility of loosing your root access by future OTAs so am planning to flash that file that keeps your root safe even from future updates "SetUID Restriction" I will prolly keep my basic rom and wait for something better in future.

would you suggest me instal the CM? I am debating over here and for sure I will make a good use with the space that can free if I do... hint I have a 64gb msd installed on the phone

am not really decided about that, does it really matter? all i care about is the blazing speed, low battery consumption and for sure the freedom of moving all the apps to the extSD ... I think all these new features are gimmick and it may take another generation for it to get the best of it. I picked S4 over the HTC one just because the 1080p feature and the funny thing is that I missed on there is no HDMI port on this phone! lol no biggie
tell me more about the touchwiz kernel, is it worth it? I don't see many CRs out there at the moment

Well right now I don't think CM is as stable compared to a TW ROM. FYI there are a lot or ROMS as of now. You have Wicked, Infamous, Darth Stalker, Deathstar. There is also faux and ktoonez kernal available for TW. As for the extsd, you will need to format the card to fat32 for the phone to read it properly.

Just purchased Tab S 10.5... Hyped

What's up fellas. Just picked up a 10.5 tab S (should be delivered tomorrow)
Had a few questions..
I am definitely going to root as I need my titanium backup among others.. Is xposed working on this device?
Mainly for YouTube ad block.
I will be using this as a movie watching device Mainly. Are there any stock based roms that are recommended? I don't want to lose features like multi window by flashing CM.
Also.. I would think a holo or aosp rom theme would be clutch on this device bc of the battery saving factors of an amoled screen, is there anything recommended?
Lastly, any battery saving tips? I usually watch my movies & shows with airplane mode on my Nexus 7, 10 and iPad. Seems to really make a huge difference..
Thanks and I look forward to helping out in this community.
Xposed does work on this device. Stock rooted should be fine for ya, you just need to remove some bloat to remove lag. To save battery, turn adaptative display off and set it to cimema because your watching movies and it would waste battery trying to adjust the tone all the time. Also turn off auto brightness and set it to one that is bright for you. And finally greenify is a good app to hibernate apps after you open them and will stay hibernative until you open it. I got a couple more but cant remeber them right now. Anyway hope you enjoy your tab s! You will see me around the q and a fourms and general fourms most times if you need anything. What version of the tab s did you get? Ex wifi, lte, etc

Thanks for the tips. I have a note 3 so I'm Sorta familiar with the touchwiz bs. I saw a thread on which apps are "safe" to freeze with titanium backup.
Usually someone makes a stock based rom with all the bloat removed but I haven't really seen one yet unless I'm missing it.
I purchased the Tab S 10.5 as I was upgrading my Nexus 7. I was not happy with the Nexus 9. It was built like garbage and had bad battery life and screen bleed. Very disappointed in HTC.
I also purchased the official S book cover which should look absolutely gorgeous.
Is the Chainfire CF auto root the way to go?
Again... Thanks.

Is it the wifi version? Sm-t800? There is a thread on safe apps to delete but someone said it bricked their tablet doing so. Just know what your deleting and it should be fine. There is one debloated rom but the developer has been really busy so he cant fix some bugs. If you have the supported version for cf auto root, then thats the way to root. Before rooting though, please wait till you root as it will viod your warrenty. Wait like a couple weeks incase you have a deffective device. Reports of bad battery happened on this tablet becuase of a loose battery connector. You should get about 8hours screen on time, so if you dont get that much battery life then it might be deffective. Anyway if everything is good root with cfautoroot. I cant wait till we get Andriod L though! And enjoy your tab s.!

I'm very familiar with root and rom. Been flashing roms since 2011. Everything from Samsung, Nexus, HTC and LG so I'm familiar with adb to Odin as well as wugfresh toolkit

Nope just needs root! Just search twrp in the play store, and it the install, and your device should be chagalwifi if im correct. And done. Now you just have to boot in recovery and it should be there. Heres the thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2817100

For me I dont use quick boot. But i have a custom reboot menu and it should be the same. Rebooting into recovery works with an app but rebooting into download mode with the app doesnt work. You have to do it with the vol down, home, power buttons at the same time when your turning your tab s on. And yeah custom recoveries are easy to install now. As long you have root, it just replaces a recovery file and done.

Thank you sir. Looking forward to it. Does this tablet suffer from the non reading sdcard bc of Kitkat? I read that there is an app fix for it? I'm currently looking for a good SanDisk card deal. I bought the 32gb version so a 32gb card should suffice

upgrade kitkat to lollipop, is it worth it, considering the problems.

Before i make the upgrade to lollipop i want to know the positives and the negatives, I dont want to flash my UK T800 and am considering doing the OTA upgrade to lollipop when it is released in the UK.
Can you add to the for and against list please., and i will update the list.
Only owners who have the official rom for their country please contribute.
For : third-party apps can write to the microSD.
Against : Battery does not last as long, lagginess, flash led problem, too much white in the settings, Touch Key duration bug
Thanks
John.
Subjective - the battery life is better/no different for a large number of people, especially if you factory reset.
The finger reader works much better. Otherwise, I don't see a lot of difference personally.
LED FLASH
well since i upgraded my device the LED flash became a problem. I need to reboot the device in order for it to work, after a day or two it'll stop working and i need to reboot the device again for it to work. its not the camera app as i tried it with many flashlight apps and the problem still persist. Other than that, Lollipop is ok on the t700. no problem whatsover just the LED flash.
So is it really the lollipop upgrade that is causing the problem, or is it just a coincidence and it`s a hardware fault really, we need some other people who have upgrade to lollipop to confirm the problem if there is one.

ok, i just read an old blog about this same problem on the samsung galaxy s4, unfortunately there are no replies on that blog. Anyways, im willing to consider that its a hardware problem but im 100% sure that when im on 4.4.2 kitkat everything works fine. when i updated my device on 5.0.2, thats when my LED flash became messed up but still works and will stop and then needs a reboot. Hopefully its just a software bug or something.
I have the same problem with flash led. Also there are lot of new problems which werent there in kit kat.

For me I was having terrible lad problems especially in web browsing to the point that I thought of getting rid of it (SM-T800) but after I updated to the Canadian version of lollipop it got much better. I also did a clean install by the way but I was still having the odd lag but I then did a compleat wipe again and installed the German version of lollipop and it is even better. Still way behind my ipad air 2 though.
On a down side the battery has taken a bit of a hit but maybe after a few charges it might get better. My first charge after the install got me 8 hours of screen on time at 9%
As a matter of interest how is the best way to go from lollipop to kitkat? I tried to between the two lollipop installs but it was stuck on the Samsung for ages so I just flashed the German one.
Well if i can root my T800 without tripping knox i will stay on kitkat until lollipop is sorted out, as i have had no problems with it at all in 7 months, I just need root so i can write to my microsd, I tried that kingroot both the apk and the pc version neither worked.
John.
WRETCHED, WRETCHED, WRETCHED! If you have the ability to stay on KitKat, do it. I don't know if it's Lollipop itself or the new rev of TouchWiz but since I was forced to update I can't stand this device. It's just a huge turd. Notifications on the lock screen: all or nothing. you can either have Google Now style notification cards or nothing. You can't just allow the notification panel to be visible on the lock screen (it is, but it doesn't show notification icons). SD card? Forget you ever had one. I don't know what everyone's talking about with "3rd-party apps can use the SD card now" but I can't even get a file browser to create a folder on the card. Forget about using it as a default storage location (no problem before the update). The new blinding-white color scheme is both hideous and obnoxious. I don't care how much battery it conserves on the new AMOLED display; its fugly and its harsh. Like turning your 4g radio on and off? Get ready to click through THREE LAYERS of menu to get to it, and forget about using Tasker (or any other app) to automate that. In fact, you should pretty much give up on Tasker (or similar) automation entirely unless you manage to root your device.
If i have auto update not checked in the settings in kitkat, will i still get an lollipop notification when it is eventually release for my uk t800 if it still has all the problems, I dont want any update messages that i cannot remove on my taskbar.

Well if i can root my T800 without tripping knox i will stay on kitkat until lollipop is sorted out, as i have had no problems with it at all in 7 months, I just need root so i can write to my microsd, I tried that kingroot both the apk and the pc version neither worked.

John, looking in the general section for a guide to rooting without tripping knox. I used it successfully on my SM-T800. Pay particular attention to the version of KitKat you require to get kingroot working in the OP. I suspect you are on a later version. Make sure to read the full guide and thread. Even though the guide gets you to Lollipop you can skip the last steps and remain on kitkat then disable updates in the settings.

Why don't your just refresh KitKat with Odin? The downgrade will not trip Knox assuming it is not already tripped for some other reason. Once flashed you immediately need to boot into recovery and wipe user data or you will go into a boot loop. The default in Odin is to boot the device once a flash is completed and that must be disabled.
I made that mistake and got stuck in a boot loop. It was tricky to use the key combination to reboot the immediately switch to the recovery key combo so I could wipe user data. For a few minutes I though I had bricked but all was well. I downgraded so I could root it hour tripping Knox following the guide in the general section. The first few steps in that guide and other posts in that thread may be of benefit if you choose to downgrade.

I dont really want to flash, just to get root while i still have warranty on my T800, I will wait for an root that does not require a flash.

How? What guide did you use? It seems I need firmware specific to the t807a. Do yo know where I can find that?
Is the Samsung stock video player any different in lollipop, As in kitkat it does not support ac3 or dts when previous Samsung tablets did, saved some money on the licenses. :crying:
John.
Anyone who does not want to update to lollipop have a look at the link below, you can even remove the OTA notice.

Here's the link to the guide:

The first part of the post include a link to a site with many Samsung firmware releases for multiple models. I don't know if a t807a is covered. Good luck.

That's the guide I'm trying to use. Unfortunately, that website seems to have firmware for every variant of the T805 except the T807a. I'm hesitant to try it with firmware from a similar variant because I know there are subtle (and sometimes not-so-subtle) differences in the actual hardware.

I feel your caution is wise and I would not personally flash any ROM that was not specific to your devices model stock or custom. I feel your pain, hopefully someone will post a link to the firmware. Why Samsung does not do that itself like Google does for Nexus devices I have no idea.
