[Q] Is my HTC One Soft Bricked? - Verizon HTC One (M7)

Alright Dev's, you guys are my final hope. I have an HTC One that won't boot into its Rom at all, the only thing it boots into is the bootloader. When I look at the info of the bootloader, it says Tampered, Locked (Not Relocked), and Security Warning. I'm trying to flash the RUU, but the phone never gets the Rom flashed to it. I'll always get a Fail, from the RUU. Can someone please help me?

S on or s off?
Edit...just read your other thread. There's not an encrypted/signed ruu for that is later/newer than what you have. The only way to fix that is wait for one or go the java card route.

The reason i believed this happened is because before setting my bootloader back to "Locked", and putting back "s-on", i was running santods 3.11.605.1 odexed full rom.

It is hard bricked if you don't have access to a java card, or don't want to send it in to HTC. Average repair is $90.

[SOLUTION] So your Marvelc is refusing to flash a ROM

Okay I've been getting reports of roms not flashing right for the marvelc. So I set out for a solution and found one I believe. One issues with some roms, is that people have been doing it wrong since they got the phone. From Gsm recovery to even gsm roms. They used cmtd a very bad idea ect ect. So now, id like to present my method for fixing all of this. First, soff your hboot, then upgrade and unlock. install custom recovery and wipe all of the partitions. Then reboot to fastboot and flash the recovery posted bellow. Report back with any findings
http://goo.im/devs/simonsimons34/marvelc/cm9/tests/recovery.img
I was just wondering if you could give step by step instructions to flashing the recovery.img. File.
Download it. Rename to recovery.img. Place in the same directory as fastboot and adb.
Put your phone into fastboot (adb reboot bootloader).
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Simonsimons34 I have tried many things but this CWM actually let me flash a rom your great!! thanks so much and this worked for me
Glad to hear it this recovery has all the bugs with flashing and backups fixed so you should be good for the life of the phone

To flash the RUU, You must Relock the bootloader first.
I can't be much help on returning the phone to s-on, other than to tell you it would take an image (before you s-off'd) and some jtag kung-foo skills
Not something easy.

thanks so much for youre reply i do know some jtag kung foo skills! heh and fourteen other chinese words... this is my first ever time with an htc device! i have managed to learn a lot so far, my other device was a sgs flashed that sucker more times than girls gone wild! i am however anxiously awaiting my sgsIII
with that said, rock on with youre android device hacking...
p.s the rom i have is a stock rooted rom, of course custom kernel i added too, i can fool the uscc store upon return of the device except the phone info on lock bar ect says virgin mobile, i think its cool, but its gonna be hard to pull that one off i think lol
If you flash the RUU for your carrier it will give you a stock rom kernel and recovery so it won't say virgin mobile

HTC dev unlocked/rooted. But need S-OFF Guide

Can somebody help me locate a guide for gaining S-OFF after doing the HTC dev unlock? Seems a bit scattered. I have downloaded the RUU for gingerbread and know that I need to relock but I'm also reading that I need to remove CWM? Any help would be appreciated.

I'm in the same boat, there's plenty of information out there but it seems scattered.
I read through the Comprehensive S-Off/Root Methods thread and I think it goes like this:
Flash the RUU that's posted in that thread.
Re-lock bootloader (fastboot oem lock).
At this point it's like you're back to stock, correct?
Downgrade hboot if needed using the scripts shown (or does the RUU do this?)
S-off with revolutionary and get clockworkmod flashed.
Flash superuser / a ROM.
My question is: what will be the state of my phone after I flash the RUU listed in that thread? Will I be back to stock recovery? Will I need to downgrade hboot?

I think you have to flash the stock recovery first, before the RUU.
Flash the 2.3.3 ruu, make sure you have stock recovery, relock it then use revolutionary to get S-OFF.

Guys, how do I flash the RUU?
I've tried renaming it to PG32IMG.zip, but it throws an error stating "wrong zipped image" or something of that sort.
I've tried flashing it through flashboot:
C:\Android>fastboot flash recover recovery_signed.img

writing 'recover'... INFOsignature checking...

[Q] Just took the ota update. Is it too late to root my One?

I updated to Kit Kat this morning. What are the necessary steps for me to gain root? I haven't rooted a phone since my Droid X, so I might be out of the loop on some things. Thanks for any help!!!
So why would you take the update before asking this
Sent from my HTC One VZW using Tapatalk 4
You can still root it. If you go into RUU mode, flash one of the older system RUU's, then get s-off before updating. You pretty much gave yourself a **** ton more steps to do it, but yes, you can.
This link has the info to flash back to an older version - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2475216&highlight=s-on
You won't need the s-on / lock part of that, but you will probably need to flash one of those old system images, then use rumrunner to get s-off and unlocked, then you can update to 4.4, then flash a recovery.
Use firewater-soff.com. Use the temp root method.

If you are s-on hboot will not allow you to flash an older ruu version than you are currently on (downgrade). So that wont work. But as stated in the post above firewater will get you bootloader unlocked and s-off.

yeah.. the problem is that ruuveal will encrypt it fine.... it won't however sign it. For an s-on phone that signing is what matters most... so even though we could re-encrypt it... we would still need an S-off phone to flash it.

I recon your best bet is to try and unlock your bootloader again have you tried reinstalling/manually installing the drivers on your computer? also does it make a sound when you plug it in? and what happens if you select hBoot?
Was you trying to return to stock when this happened?

considering your version of hboot I don't think firewater will work which means you would need to use sunshine which costs money...
You would also need to be within you system(Android) and be rooted so at the moment best thing to concentrate on is getting your device a recovery / get it to connect to a PC
If you can get your Device to show up in ADB your chances of recovering it get a lot higher

You need to use firewater s-off or if that one does not work for you sunshine s-off works but cost $25 dollars.
The issue your going to have is you can't boot at all and you said fastboot commands not working. Are you sure you have the correct fastboot and adb files in the folder your connected to?

What did you do to get your phone to this point? I need to know what you tried to do to get a better idea of how to fix it. You said the phone won't boot or go into recovery I need to figure out why so I need to know what you did.
I think your fastboot setup is wrong that's why fastboot is not working what are you typing in terminal from start to when it fails.

OK... this is what I can understand.
You relocked the bootloader for some reason then you unable to boot the phone anymore and when you try to enter recovery, it boots to bootloader again. All fastboot command doesn't work.
Now ... do you still have the unlock_code.bin with you ? You need to re unlock the bootloader then other fastboot command will work like fastboot flash recovery recovery.img and etc.
