Sense Keyboard Lag - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Morning Folks,
I've recently started experiencing some weird lag when typing on the keyboard whereby I will type something and it won't appear instantly, maybe a second after I start typing and then for every word afterwards. I've tried to check what apps I've installed recently that may have caused this and looked at apps that are currently running that may be causing the lag but can't seem to come up with any solutions.
Does anyone know what I could do to try and fix this? This started happening in the last few days.
EDIT: Installed Swiftkey and it doesn't seem to have this same issue but I prefer the Sense keyboard so would like to get this fixed. Really can't see what's causing it.

Never experienced keyboard lag on the M8

I know what you talking about it is very annoying with that laggy keyboard but when you disable the power saving mode the lag seems to be away. In my opinion it is related to the limited cpu clock and the governor. Probably it would fix the problem if you change the kernel or change the governor.

I used swiftkey for a while, but I've returned to stock quickly. It's super fast like everything on m8

I know I'm late, but if you're still having this issue, try disabling word prediction.

Sense 7 keyboard has lag... It is just crappy generally... The older sense 6 keyboard works a lot better without any lag or any other keyboard

Is anyone else finding their Arc starting to lag?

I have had my Arc since it first came out in the UK but have noticed on occasions of late that it seems to have developed a lag, especially on things like accessing the gallery & messaging. Has anyone else noted this?
Nope. However I do use a cache cleaner every few weeks.

Yup, after about 2 weeks mine started to lag every once in a while. I just assumed it was because of some faulty app. So I did a clean install, and 2 weeks later it was the same again. (didn't install too many apps this time)
Mine is still great.
try an app called fast reboot....I find it speeds things up
No lag at all here, 2 months in.
Had the Arc (UK) about 2 months and in the last two weeks things have really started to lag. Have had to resort to rebooting and cleaning the cache regularly but it only takes a day to start lagging again. Wondering whether there is a CPU/ memory hog there in my app suite or a widget but haven't been able to identify anything yet. Once the phone goes below 40-50MB free it is all over and I have to reboot.
This may sound weird but my phone lags during the day and it runs super fast at night lol

I have this lags, too. But I had not to reboot the system, yet...
Any more ideas?
Cheers!

After update on Android 2.3.3 i don't hve any lag. Before that I had lag but nothing to worry about. I think it was Android 2.3.2 that cousses lag.

Same here after about 1 to 2 days the phone memory goes to about 25MB and is practically not useable and need to reboot. I am on 2.3.3
I went through my apps & by trial & error ended up removing a particular app & that seems to have sped things up a bit. Also downloaded a history cleaner & used that & that has improved things a bit as well. But in certain areas it definitely still seems to lag. Have to wonder now if it is something to do with the Arc's hardware?
ok guys after using SeePU+++ i think i found the process that uses the most cpu power and lags down our Arc is "ndroid.process.acore"
not sure what it does but i believe it is the culprit for random slow downs and lag on our phone...
does anyone know what it does? can anyone confirm my findings?
P.s. I am on global generic 2.3.3 firmwre 145
This problem may be caused by a bug in the Google Contacts Sync , just as seen in this bug:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=2377
In other devices like HTC Evo this problem persist
http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-sup...ore-why-sucking-up-so-much-battery-power.html
http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-sup...andom-reboots-magic-bullet-facebook-sync.html
I don't have the Google Sync activated and i don't feel my Arc Laggy
This phone is incredibly laggy. Many FCs or lags when I open the messaging app or other apps... Very sad and frustrating.
One of the major causes of lag on the HTC hero was having too many text messages stored on the phone. Ever since then i tend to not let the numbers build up too much, and i havent noticed any lag problems on the arc (maybe it's a general android problem).

Horrible lag after running Super Hexagon

Sometimes when I launch Super Hexagon, the game runs terribly slow. It feels like it's running at 15-20 FPS instead of 60 FPS. The weird part is that this lag persists after I exit the game. The whole system becomes super slow with choppy animations.
I've tried killing the app and even clearing the data, but the only thing that seems to fix this is a reboot. I can reproduce this behavior after rebooting again. It usually happens on the 2nd or 3rd time I launch the app, but sometimes it can take up to 10 times of closing and launching. Holding the tablet vertically seems to trigger it faster (although I'm not completely sure if it's related yet).
I'm running completely stock KOT49H and version 1.0.5 of Super Hexagon.
I haven't been able to reproduce this on my Nexus 4 or my old Nexus 7 (2012).
Can anyone else confirm that this happens on their Nexus 7 (2013)? I'm just wondering if it's a bug/compatibility issue or if it's a problem with my device
Just a quick update: Tried changing to ART with and flashing the latest franco kernel (just to experiment), and it still happens in the exact same way

I know this is a late response but I had the same thing happen to me twice tonight and I found your thread while googling for the issue myself.
Force closing the app doesn't help. It seems I have to reboot to fix it.
Have you by any chance figured out a fix? I'm running a 2013 n7 completely stock

Haven't found a fix yet
It's clearly a software issue though, either with the game or the latest N7 2013 build. Maybe someone who's more skilled could check the debug log (or something) to figure out the cause.
Hey
EDIT:
to fix this problem, open your favorite file explorer..
navigate through android/data/(superhexagon package file name)
go to settings.dat
change vsync from 1 to 0

I confirm, the only solution is to reboot... Very annoying if it happens while you break a record
Wow, I am astonished by Google. It has been over a year now and this problem STILL exists, I am having the exact same problem as described in the OP with several apps. How come this problem gets so little attention? Should be well known by now.
All those fancy design changes but who cares about actual system stability.
^What apps? I've never had this problem and this is my first time reading about it.
It's up to the app developer to keep their **** updated to work well with new versions of android. Nothing to do with google.

No way apps are supposed or even able to mess with the whole system like that and this bug doesn't happen on other devices like nexus 5 with the same apps so it's obviously just the device. I mean did you even read the thread you ignorant prick? The thread creator said too that he can't reproduce it with other devices such as Nexus 4 or Nexus 7 2012.

[Q] Text message / keyboard

Hey,
Currently have the lg g3 b855 32gb 10i, just was wondering if anyone else notice a delay when opening up a text and a slow response to the keyboard loading currently using swiftkey but did try lg keyboard same resault. Is it the actually LG G3 causing this lag or is there a fix i can use... all apps run instantly and do not have any lag with other apps just slow response time when opening up a text or browsing the web and the keyboard has a short delay to open.
Thanks
Same issue
I'm having the exact same issue. It's very frustrating and I can't find anyone talking about it. I just got my phone about a week ago and it started off great but now I'm having trouble as my phone cannot seem to keep up with me while texting. Even now I'm noticing that SwiftKey is typing just as quickly as my fingers can move, but when I try to send a text, it just lags so badly. I even tried the SwiftKey beta app to see if it improved, but nothing. Can someone please post a solution!!

Severe lag from Google Keyboard?

For some reason, after a body of text has been typed out, the keyboard starts lagging HORRENDOUSLY. It just gets progressively worse. Here's a video to show you guys what I mean.
https://youtu.be/AHNhSz3wmYA
I haven't tried LG's keyboard because it's ghastly. This happens on every SMS app, or, as you can see, on Tapatalk. I was originally writing this thread on my G4 but it got so bad that I couldn't stand it anymore and decided to type it up on my laptop.
After the update, the lag was not there. But after some use, it looks like it's back. I have tried restarting the phone and what not, factory reset, etc. to no avail.
Has anyone else been experiencing this?
Ditto here. Lags less then LG keyboard but still not ideal
Sent from my LG-H810 using Tapatalk
People have reported less lag if the LG keyboard is disabled or frozen.
Mine has been fine, especially after the latest update to 10N on T-Mobile.

My Google keyboard keeps disappearing

Any permanent solution for that? I can clear data and it works. But it resets everything. And after a few days it disappears again. I can actually type but I see no keyboard.
I had the same problem on my Z Play with stock 7.1.1 (soak test). The Gboard disappaer and goes black. I have then force close in Settings, Apps, Gboard. Then it working again for a while.
Now I have switch to LOS14.1 and the problem isn't come again. Maybe the final release of stock 7.1.1 fix the problem, too?
But I really don't know if it's a rom problem or an app problem.

I get this too a lot. Never happened when I was still using my LG G3, but ever since I switched to the Z Play it crashes sometimes or the keyboard just stays black.

But that's a software problem. On LOS14.1 I have not this issue. But here is all newest now That's feels so good
And would be interested to know if the problem by Motorolas Stock ROM or by Googles Gboard.
And I see that I have gotten the newest version of Gboard with the latest Open Gapps. Maybe it's enough to update Gboard? Otherwise moto has the bug in her firmwares.
Just enable Force GPU rendering on Dev settings and will be fixed

I would say that's the problem is by Gboard. Would try to update Gboard first. Then we would know exactly.
But don't know. Try Gboard update, then we see.
Had this problem also , seems to be solved with the latest gboard update a couple of days ago.
Me too. Started about 2 months ago, When starting Google search the keyboard appeared, disappeared, appeared. I often typed in an area exactly when the keyboard disappeared. Sometimes it seems to have crashed, no keyboard to see, needed to switch to a different keyboard and back to re-enable. Was happening about every second day. Then I found it it is active, but invisible!
All that crap ended last week after an update. Hope all the issues had the same reason which got fixed.
Not all issues are fixed. When activating Google Search bar, the keyboard sometimes still appears, disappears, appears. It's a really bad timing because every second time I start typing exactly in the moment when it disappears for a quarter second, and thereby deactivate it and start something else whatever is under the key I press (maybe the second key press if the first got used by deactivating, dunno for sure).
