[Q] LG G3 (T Mobile Unlock) - T-Mobile LG G3

Will you be able to unlock the LG G3 in the near future?
Like through websites which gives you codes to unlock it for a fee?
My situation:
Currently in the USA but will go to Asia to continue studying. (Will get the LG G3 in less than a week from T-Mobile raffle)

how in the world would anyone be able to answer that question, since the phone hasn't even been released yet?????

I said in the near future.
I bet we have experienced unlockers here so I ask for their answers if it is possible or not.

Yes but how are they supposed to know....without the phone you are just asking someone to guess.... So here goes NO
Or maybe yes or who freaking knows
better hope they don't start locking them like sprint and Samsung did the note 3 .... No unlock but from sprint

yes, happy now?

unlock for free? i doubt it
paid for unlock, pretty sure you'll be to.
why not sell the phone and buy a phone in the asian country you'll be going to, you'll be able to get LTE there since you might not have the correct LTE bands for that country

If you snoop around the site, for info on bringing non-Tmobile phones in. It has rules for unlocking our phone. But they include "fully paid off phone" and minimum service and account time before they will let us.
If you talk to a customer service rep and explain your situation they might let you unlock sooner.

Some people have the phone, I had the phone but sold it and you will be able to buy a unlock code for a few bucks

-Buy the phone outright you get the request put in at the store. (What I did)
-Own the phone for a billing cycle and call 611/800-937-8997(T-Mobile Customer)
—Buy unlock code from eBay for $8(Non-Customer)

Bought mine outright at the store tonight, when i asked about an unlock code, guy said I had to wait 45 days or some crap. So was he telling me BS? Guess I'll have to call customer service to do this.

I requested an unlock code and cellunlocker and its been more than 4 hours and they still havent sent me a code.

Working great! I cant believe how fast you were where the "other guys" are still sitting on processing for me. Im gonna see if i can cancel it. Thanks!!!

need help
I used the unlock code that i received from the link in your signature..
when I put in the code, it said network unlocked.. BUT somehow it didnt work. cant make calls or anything. As if it was still locked.
So i went back into the screen where you put the unlock code, and now there is NO prompt for it.. it simply says you cant personalize this phone.
I only attempted the code once..
any advice?

Hi bob, I would recommend a quick search. The short answer is there is no app that can do it at this time, and I would recommend trying your luck on ebay.
All i did was chat with Tmobile support and i told them i was going to Europe for a while so I would need to get my Galaxy S3 sim unlocked. As long as your account is in good standing and have never had a late payment, they'll grant you your wish. It took less than 24hrs also to get my code.
Try it, you'll never what'll happen.
theres a couple options
1. Contact Tmobile, if you dont wanna call them heres the link http://support.t-mobile.com/community/chat Just tell them your gonna be leaving the country for a bit like the guy above me said
2. Buy a Unlock code on Ebay or another site (Yes they work)
3. try that app it has an option for GSIII however theres no garauntees

Right, you are allowed one code every 6 months. I always use the same line "I'll be in Italy this next week so I really need it soon, thanks".
Additionally SG3 guru AdamLange has made a tool that works as well. Try it and let us know bob !

It seems unlockclient.com has a software method. Any idea how it works?
Just call up T-Mobile and tell them you want a SIM unlock code. They'll ask for the IMEI number. I got my code within 24 hours of my request.
Once you have the code is there a way to unlock without another sim card?

And I can add from recent personal experience that you need to have been with Tmobile for 2 months before they will process your request. I had only been with them a month so I had cellunlocker.net provide me with an unlock code (I think for around 30$). I also used them to unlock my wides iphone (oh NO....I know...lol) so I actually trust them and recommend them now....
Just called tmobile and requested a sim unlock for me and my brother and the rep processed both phones so I don't have to wait 90 days for the other code, yay!

I believe if you paid full retail price for the phone through T-Mobile or an authorized agent you don't have to be.
When I called Tmobile in July to request help unlocking my phone I was told that I had to be an active customer for at least 2 months before they could process my request. I wasn't (and still am not) a regular Tmobile customer so I had cellunlocker.com do it. It cost around $30, and took only a couple of hours to get the code by email, and now its done.

I have done this with every phone I've had. Call Tmobile and tell them you're going to China next month and you need to unlock it. They will email you everything you need.
thanks guys. I ended up getting it unlocked from a dude that unlocks it via remote connection for 8 bucks on ebay. Better than 25-30 on cellunlocker.net

I payed him yesterday around 3pm. I got an email with the instructions around 11:00pm last night. What he basically asked to do was download USB redirector and teamviewer and do the following steps to the phone :
If you have i747 t999 please do next settings:
1.Go to Menu - Settings-> Development - switch USB debugging ON (When message is appear press "Yes".)
2.Go to dial window and type *#7284# then go to "Qualcomm USB Settings" and select "DM + Modem + ADB".
3.Switch off the phone and power on with unaccepted card. !
I was kinda of hesitant to let some random dude have remote access to my pc so i used an old netbook that had no personal files and set up teamviewer. He connected, open usb redirector and less than 2 minutes later he told me it was unlocked and all i had to do was reboot it and insert any sim. My now using my straighttalk att micro sim with the sg3

Thanks! I'm really curious how these guys are unlocking. So far I've seen two software methods: UnlockClient and this eBay guy. If we can figure out what they're doing we might be able to come up with a free unlock tool for North American GS3 owners.

Guide: How I unlocked my ATT S3

I read for about 2 hours on how to unlock this thing. Many said to call Att, some said to log in and live-chat, some say to use a 3rd party service. I called Att USA and got the run around 3 times. I don't have an ATT account so I couldnt log in....I tried the auto chat service and it gave me a number for ATT International. I called and within 60 seconds the gentleman gave me the code over the phone, no questions asked sans the IMEI code.
Here was the number I used......1-800-335-4685
I am not hard core developer, I am just a regular guy who reads before he asks. I hope this helps someone out.

your the man or woman that number rocks i had to go through two reps but i got my unlock code thanks for the info
not sure if you found this information or not, but for others wanting to know... only speak with the International Reps!!!
whether it be via phone or chat, this department is the only department that can give you the unlock code.
do not ask in-store about, do not call customer service. go straight to the source.
my story: after 14 days of being a brand new AT&T customer, i logged in and chatted with an International Rep, no questions asked about why i wanted an unlock, he just gave me the unlock code upon request. first try.
chat rep gave me mine within 4 minutes. said I had to put another sim into the slot and type in the unlock code.
Is there a way to do this without a different sim?
Wife and I are planning a trip to france and wanted to unlock to have phone service over there.
Looking for steps on how to do it without another similar as well. Also full steps, my rep was less than helpful in that department. I got the code, but other than that nothing else useful from them.

I was not able to find another way to do it. On the international version, one of the *# codes on the dialer works, but not on our's. However, I was able to unlock it by going to a T-Mobile store and asking them really nicely whether I could borrow one of their sims for two minutes so I could unlock my phone. They agreed with no issue, and my phone is now unlocked.
Just called and they told me they can only unlock phones that are from USA AT&T customers only.

Only the original carrier can unlock the phones.. it's the specific carrier that has the unlock code..
Try calling Rogers and telling them you're going to Europe.. I've got my unlock code for one of my old phones doing that
No, you can be rooted. You need a different carriers Sim and when you insert that and power on the phone it will ask you for the code. Input code, it will finish powering up and then give it a minute or two and Voila!

That's not entirely true. There are pay services such as cellunlocker.net that can unlock your phone in minutes. I just tried to unlock my old S2 through AT&T to get more selling it and the AT&T rep said my device wasn't "eligible" for an unlock code. Then, immediately went to cellunlocker and got an unlock code in about five minutes online and didn't have to deal with any idiot AT&T reps. Cost me $25 but it was worth it in that my phone sold in about 15 minutes and I didn't have time to deal with AT&T's bs.
Wish I knew about the number posted in the OP, I would've tried that and maybe saved some money.
Also got mine through chat no questions asked and noe she is unlocked. BOOM!

[Q} Network unlock?

Does anyone know if any of the usual unlockers (e.g. cellunlocker.net) has the unlock codes yet? Or if there are different unlocking methods? Thanks!
I hope something comes up soon. I purchased full price and AT&T won't unlock.

Any issues with this unlock? Are they permanent? I know customer service reps are clueless half the time but when I called to get my unlock code and was told I was also told I should be careful of getting an unlock code online as he had a case of someone call once saying their unlock code only worked with the phone for 90 days and then it stopped working (not sure if the phone or the unlocking). Also, any issues with privacy in regards to giving out en IMEI number?

My phone is I317M that locked to Canada Rogers Network. I messed up my phone once due to flashed 7100 rom to my I317m, and I lost all information like baseband, network, imei. After did some research, I flashed a rogers stock rom back to my phone, and my phone get fixed and got signal again. Noticed that my phone is even unlocked. I dont know how that happened, but my phone works with other carrier now. Expect if someone can explan this.

If you ever travel overseas, you can just buy a prepaid sim and stick it in your phone and you could use your phone while traveling for cheap without paying any carrier roaming fees.
I don't want to pay for a DATA PLAN!
So check this out.... I am an AT&T user and back when the HTC HD2 came out for T-Mobile I bought it from a friend when they signed up for a new contract. Got an unlock code from Ebay and have been using it for the past 2 years without having to have a data plan, never got added automatically to my plan like i have heard happen to others? And I'm wondering why? Is it possibly cuz its a T-Mobile phone? Or is it cuz I still have an old "Cingular" SIM card? I am curious about this because right now, Wally World has a special sale on the phone at $249, plus a $100 gift card, which will bring the phone down to $150 basically, so a pretty damn good deal for a phone just out on the market. And I'm plan on getting it this week, I was wondering if any of you would be able to tell me if at some point if i was able to get a T-Mobile version of the Samsung Note 2 if i could slip my SIM card into it and then be able to cancel my DATA plan, if i told them i went back to a Motorola Razr or something, which worked when i got my HD2? Or will AT&T be able to see that i have a smartphone? Is it the newer smaller SIM card, that will tell AT&T that I have a smartphone, or will the phone it self be what sends info to the servers or whatever that tells AT&T I have a smartphone? Or do you think this method of getting a T-Mobile phone and using an AT&T SIM card will work and I won't get stuck with a DATA plan? Everywhere I go has Wi-Fi so I have no need for the Data plan it will be going to waste.

How do I SIM unlock

Brusington said:
With a carrier unlock, all the carrier is doing is releasing the phones IMEI*(International Mobile Equipment Identity) number so that is can be activated with other carriers. It's merely database related and nothing more. Does not affect the bootloader or anything like that in any way.
The only time that code works is when you put the other carriers SIM is in your phone. It will ask that 'code' then.

siraltus said:
They're not "releasing the IMEI" and it is not "database related." You confused SIM unlocking with IMEI blacklisting, when a carrier marks a phone's IMEI as stolen and blocks it from their network via blacklist, which is shared among carriers. A SIM unlock, which is what we're discussing, permits the phone's baseband to accept SIM cards with network IDs other than originating carrier, and is done on the handset itself. Don't spread misinformation, please.
In the case of the T-Mobile variant (H811), the ability to input a SIM unlock code was removed and a custom unlock application was installed instead which communicates with T-Mobile's servers to verify the handset is eligible for SIM unlock and then performing the unlock itself if requirements are met.

I have no idea what Sprint does on their devices, since they're CDMA/GSM/LTE hybrids. If there is a preloaded SIM unlock app, you can help us by telling us the unlock app package name and perhaps posting some screenshots of the app and its various options.

also, the tmo and spr phones do not accept the typical unlock codes... so it's not a matter of finding the hidden menu. unlock will require a totally different method.
for sprint users... once rooted you can edit the build.prop which opens the phone up.

Try putting 277634#*# in the dialer and it'll bring up a hidden menu! Dunno if anyone can find anything relevant in there that'll help?

Jesus... I'm putting this up for sale for cheap if anyone is interested. Tired of requiring a degree to use my phone with whatever carrier I choose. Bunch of crap.

My usual method of getting my phone unlocked is to call up the carrier, explain that I am traveling overseas and I would like to use a foreign sim card and I get the unlock code within a day or two. I have been doing this for over 10 years without issue. I often travel overseas for work and that is the easiest option for me. However AT&T refuses to give me the unlock code for the G4 despite me buying the phone outright, having a prepaid account, and have been with them for over 3 years. What is going on here???? Has anyone had this issue?

This can only be done by the US carrier associated with the device. It can also be done by some third party outfits, but you will need to check the web for "SIM unlock code"
AS mentioned earlier the carrier will do this at no charge 99% of the time.

HTC 10 Sim Unlock Code

I'm using t-mobile HTC 10 around a week, but want switch to AT&T now as the AT&Ts 4g internet connection is faster in my area. To my surprise not so many services can unlock this phone at this moment (maybe because the phone just came on market, hard locked or smth). found some services where htc 10 is supported. Just want to ask- is anyone used these services?
Mod Edit
I will update this list (will delete or will add new sources according your recommendations, please PM me):fingers-crossed:

just tried and not worked for my device
I heard that all super new phones are hard locked (locked with a higher level of encryption), so that's why so difficult to unlock at this moment(

Once you cancel T-Mobile you'll need to pay the balance on your phone.

That's me . I've ordered a HTC 10 and will be here soon. Anyone interested in starting on a sim unlock before than. Please PM me
I am legit. Check out my work for M9 and Desire 626 sim unlock method. Plus I need this to work as the T-Mobile variant I am getting is not in their database (so no unlock app).
Thanks
@stifilz is probably the best thing that happened to the HTC M9. He sorted my sim issues on the Sprint M9 within minutes, couple of times. Helped countless others too!
Hi @stifilz, I back on HTC, this time with T-Mo HTC 10. It seems unlocked because my sim is working perfectly fine, 4g lte and all. I'm thinking of getting s-off and flashing US Unlocked RUU, just scared I might lose the sim unlock.

A few questions:
1. I read somewhere that when you flash the US Unlocked RUU during setup you're asked to pick a network. Was there anything like that for you? What did you do if there was?
2. How did you do the physical unlock and how much did it cost?
3. When I bought my phone from the guy I just popped in my sim and it works. The T-Mo unlock app is still in my apps but I've decided not to touch it. How can I tell if mine is physical unlock?
Thanks!

A physical unlock involves plugging the tool into it. You would need to buy that tool. Just try it. Worst case you SHOULD be able to flash T-Mobile and use the unlock app again. PM me if you need S-off

Not sure of your status with this but DO NOT use htcunlockingservice.com. It was $12 to begin with, then I was informed I'd need to pay an additional $12 bc the device was hard locked. I did, they notified me they got an unlock code from Sprint server but it did not work. Site says 100% money back guarantee but thats proving as much of a pain as dealing with Sprint customer service.

I unlocked it myself using the basic flasher and NV tools, I was just relaying what they were telling me and the horrible experience of dealing with them so that it may save someone else the headache lol.
