[Q] APN Problem in Cosmic V4.6 - Galaxy Grand Duos i9082 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

I did a clean install of cosmic v4.6
Installed Gapps.
APN is not saved by default.
I have to change preferred network to GSM/WDCMA Auto.
I get an error that Unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped.
But the APN now gets installed of both the sims.
In dual sim settings the 2nd sim is activated by default for calls, data & messaging.
Now when I restart my phone due to any reason I have to go through the entire process stated above to get APN.
Also when I get a 2nd call in call waiting the 1st call goes to HOLD automatically.
Kindly HELP

BTW you should post in Galaxy Note 2 Q&A forum ( use xda device search engine to locate it)
A modem change might give you results only after you have checked your APN ,
Quick Guide
First Check your settings > about phone > status > your phone number ( IF UNKNOWN )
You won't be able to send SMS by any third party sms apps or Have a Network connection
Solution :-
You need to edit that "unknown" number to your phone number, by putting your SIM card on any old phone that has a "my number/owner number" option, (most old phones do). Edit and save it to the proper phone format as your Sim Card number (Example: +63913XXXXXXX). Now put the SIM back to M110S, to solve this problem.
Than check your system settings, in Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names.(APN) as provided by your Network provider . If your Apn is not set, you wont be able to have data connection, so set it first
If still no data connection, Common Trick is to toggle WIFI and Airplane mode or
1. Turn ON WIFI
2. Set the phone to Flight Mode
3. Power down the phone for a few Minutes
4. Power it back up
5. Turn OFF flight mode
6. Turn OFF WIFI
Should get Data back

Data Sim switch not working in terminal or shell

Hi,
I'm using a sim in slot 2 just for data when I'm abroad (chatsim). I tried making a tasker profile which would switch data to sim2 when sim1 is roaming.
I've tried using a root shell command "settings put global multi_sim_data_call 2" and it does switch the data to sim 2 in the settings but actually nothing happens further.
The data is still on sim 1.
Does anyone know how to activate it? Maybe a command to restart the RIL?
Thanks for any help
Have the same problem ?
Any news on that?

Hi, this might be late but try changing SElinux from forced to permissive. It should solve the problem

Unable to edit Sprint APN settings on Galaxy S9

Back on the S8 I was able to add "dun" to the end of the apn data profile for tethering but they are grayed out on the S9. I tried shortcut master and while I can get to it I just can't edit it. Anyone know of a way to do so? I'd like to have unlimited tethering and also if there's a way to turn off the throttling that would be great as well.

Nothing yet. As far as I know, you could flash the U firmware and that would allow it. I have been looking through some adb commands as well, trying to see if we could do it that way.
I went to add one and was finally able to select that one I added and I made sure to put the "dun" at the end and so far so good

How did you finally get it in add mode?
Can you try step 1-8 on this please? I know it says s7 edge but this also worked on s8 and now i'm wondering if it works on the s9. Thanks.

Tried that. No luck
How are you trying to edit the value? I was able to change it on my Sprint S9+ using Shortcut Master Lite.
There's a thread in the 9+ forum where one person said he had to try several times (using SML) before it actually worked.

I actually have it working now, using a modified version of the ABD command.
Gonna let it sit for a bit, it it keeps working, I'll post it.
Copying from my post in the other thread about this.

I have tried every random HiddenMenu shortcut, I have tried ADB CMD and trying to rewrite the APN by hand, I have tried going into the settings and going through Mobile Networks, I have tried mounting /system in the recovery menu, I looked into changing the CSC because it's linked to APN locking... I've literally tried it all.
PDANet+, FoxFi, EasyTether, ClockworkMod Tether ... none of them would work. They would automatically be stuck at 2mbps instead of my normal 30 to 40. Hiding tether/hotspot this way was NOT an option at all.
Specifically on my Sprint S9 and another S9+, I had to do it in this order:
1) Open the Shortcut Master Lite and open LTEFunctionalityTest
2) Open LTE APN Setting
3) Open an APN you want to change.
3) If it's greyed out, close everything and then restart from #1.
4) Edit APN Type, add ",dun" to the end.
5) When done editing, save, and you should be good to go.
If that doesn't work even after trying repeatedly (make sure Shortcut Master Lite is completely closed, etc) ... then you can try the following which allowed me to edit the APN on a sister Sprint S9+ phone:
1) Dialer App, ##3282# (DATA)
2) Edit
3) Sprint MSL for mine is 000000
4) APN Settings
5a) "APN" and "APN protocol" should be editable. Make a minor change, save your APN.
5b) Then change them back, save the APN again. Do this for each APN you want full access to.
6) Open the Shortcut Master Lite and open LTEFunctionalityTest
7) Open LTE APN Setting
8) If it's greyed out, close everything and then restart from #6.
9) Edit APN Type, add ",dun" to the end.
10) After you finish editing, save, and you should be good to go.
Note: You might want to do this for both APNs as one is for LTE & one is for Roaming.
Consider this working on a Sprint S9+ & Sprint S9 Snapdragon SM-G960U - 8.0.0 Oreo Build Feb 10th

I had to do this a third time after Factory Resetting my phone, the second set of steps let me do this very quickly.
Do not update your PRL or Profile in System Update, this will wipe out your changes.
This..............
That worked for me...to a T!
Thanks!

Using this method, APN is not editable for me. But the Shortcut Master Lite method worked fine. Maybe this would work if I hadn't already changed it via SML?

Trying to get hotspot bypass working... PDAnet works, but is spotty. I have edited my APN's successfully (I had to rename before I could edit). As well as added the ADB commands. I sort of have hotspot working...
When I disable M.data and enable hotspot AND am connected to WiFi, it enables and allows me to re-enable M.data. Hotpot will continue to work indefinately.... until I leave the WiFi connection. Then the Sprint M.data connects and tells me i am not subscribed to Hotspot service. If I am not in a WiFi area when I re-enable M.data, then it instantly goes to the hotspot subscription error.
EDIT: I just reconnected my phone to check settings in adb. The settings were reset to defaults:
tether_dun_required is '1'
tether_dun_apm is 'null'
If you turn on tethering while connected to wifi, you're not really tethering. You're just sharing the WiFi connection.

I could not share the WiFi connection before I added dun to the APNs.
The real problem appears to be that the ADB settings edits are being reset somehow.

SPH-L520 Working on Ting? No 4G/LTE

UPDATE: 4G/LTE wouldn't work without erasing all possible APNs except Ting's (with some messing around to get settings correct). LOS14.1 continued to throw errors with this install though so ultimately re-flashed with RR and it's working perfectly now.
--
I'm trying to port an S4 Mini SPH-L520 (CDMA) for use with Ting. Has anyone successfully done this with full access to phone, text and data? Having updated the carrier settings while stock, then flashed LOS 14.1 I've got functional voice, SMS, WiFi and can see 3G sporadically when I refresh network settings, but 4G/LTE's a no-go -- I get a "Your mobile data service couldn't be activated" error from the setup wizard every time the phone starts. It's definitely seeing Ting's SIM card because it's showing the correct ICCID, but won't work at all in RUIM/SIM mode ("No service", "Select SIM Card" with no options) and defaults back to NV. Haaaalp? I'm very computer literate but cell phones are terrifying and mysterious black magic...

VoLTE option missing intermittently , unable to make or receive calls.

VoLTE option is missing intermittently, sometimes its working but sometimes VoLTE option is not there. Every time i have to restart device to correct the issue, can someone please suggest any solution?
I tried enabling/Disabling VoLTE option from settings etc..
Which network and device u r using?
I think VOLTE network strength weak in ur area..
Try these steps
Open phone dialer nd type this code
*#*#4636#*#*(copy paste not work)
It'll show sim1,sim2 info nd wifi info
Select sim in which u r facing volte issue
Now scroll nd click set preferred network type
Thr scroll nd choose LTE only
Thts it.. done
NOTE-IF U RESTART OR ON AIRPLANE MODE, SETTINGS WILL RESET U HV TO DO WHOLE PROCESS AGAIN
