[Q] "Can't mount storage" error after formatting cache in CWM - LG Optimus G (International)

After using for some days with sling rom 2.1 my phone was running li'l bit slow. So i went to CWM recovery, formatted the cache partition. After that when i reboot to system, it shows an error like this:
" SECURE BOOTING ERROR
==========================
Cause: Device unlock, So boot success "
and goes to recovery every time instead of booting into phone. When i didn't understand what i did wrong, I decided to flash a rom from the memory card and it shows me another error "Can't mount sdcard". After that i wanted to flash with kdz but surprisingly i couldn't get it to the download mode either. It just goes into recovery. What should i do now?

How did you go to download mode? Try this:
- Turn off device (in recovery: advanced > power off).
- Wait 20-30s. Unplug cable.
- Hold volume up and down + plug quickly.
Try several times.

I have tried with this key combination like 20-30 times but no luck Now I'm fearing of loosing my beloved device...

Go in cwm mount system then format system it worked for me i don't know if it will work for you so i don't hold me responsible over this but if you can't do anything else you can try it

Failed Root; Stuck in Loop "process com.google.process.gapps has stopped"

Hello and thank you for taking time to read this post.
I attempted to root my At&t Samsung Galaxy S3 today then install tha AOKP Rom, and it back fired due to poor instruction, and poor execution. At the moment my phone, whenever it turns on "inititing swager" (with a pink horse and gears) then gives me a pop-up saying "Unfortunatly the process com.google.process.gapps has been stopped." and "Unfortunately, Setup Wizard has stopped". Whenever I hit ok, the other shows up. I have access to the pull down menu, but can't open any of the links on it. I can also shut it off then get back to the root(hat menu) menu. From which I have tried the option "wipe data/Factory Reset" link, but that changes nothing when I reboot. At this point I am just looking for a way to get it back to factory settings or at least working!
How I got here:
1. Rooted the phone through my computer (successfully it seemed)
-Using this tutorial: /watch?v=bIUA1IxiJzo
2.Started puting AOPK on!
(with this: /watch?v=qzcR-G7EKSw
Look, I know none of you have to help me but any feedback will be greatly appreciated.
P.S. I hav looked through other forums about the gapps error, but the difference is mine is not running to the home screen so I can't go to application manager!
Two suggestions:
1) Put your phone in recovery mode (i.e. where you can do factory resets from), transfer a different ROM image over to the device (I'd use adb to do that from recovery mode), flash it, clear data/cache/etc., reboot the phone, and hope it works.
2) Put the phone in download mode (Vol Down + Home + Power; just like entering recovery, but Vol Down instead of Vol Up), and use Odin to flash a rooted stock image as detailed here; put CWM / TWRP / whatever recovery you want to use on the phone again, and get back to flashing ROM images from there.
In the future, try to be careful of what ROMs you flash... not everything works very well, as you've just discovered.
Thank you for responding so quickly! I am attempting the first method, however i am not sure how to transfer a different rom image(im assuming the adb stands for Android Debug Bridge). I was using the internal SD, but I can plug it the phone into my computer, and it says no drivers found for this device, where before it recognized the phone. Once I get that I can clear the other data and restart.
Your help is very appreciated!

How can I post a doubt in XDA forum?
What custom recovery is on your phone? I suggest installing Philz Touch via Odin if possible and then flash a new rom from an external SD card.

Lg Optimus G pro E988 Doesn't BOOT (maybe bricked)

Hi there, I recently bought an used unlocked LG G PRO E988 (made in korea) version. I rooted it. I tried to flash a custom rom but got stuck in boot loop with a security warning saying "SECURE booting ERROR!! Cause: boot certification verify" But while booting if I kept the volume up and power botton pressed it would give me "SECURE booting ERROR!! Device is unlocked so booting success" , However i could not get into the download mode no matter which ever key combination i tried. Finally pressing the volume up ,home key and power botton at the same time while putting back the battery on i ran into recovery mode and flashed a new rom "sphinx" and it was working fine, though I kept getting the "SECURE booting ERROR!! Device is unlocked so booting success" while booting up. I installed the Philz touch recovery while installing sphinx rom but day before yesterday I wanted to install the default cwm recovery and flash sphinx again with less apps,so from the recovery mode i wiped dev cache, wiped cache partion (and i think i wiped data/factory reset as well ) installed the sphinx rom again and rebooted from sphinx installation screen where i need to check a sqaure box to reboot. but my phone got stuck in boot loop again and with the same security warning "SECURE booting ERROR!! Cause: boot certification verify" but this time pressing the volume up and power button while connecting usb or putting back the battery didn't change the security warning to "SECURE booting ERROR!! Device is unlocked so booting success" neither could i get into my recovery mode. And i have always failed to log into download mode. I read almost all the threads about how to get into g pro download mode but never succeed. The only screen i was getting besides "hard reset" and "boot logo with security warning" was a screen with this message "Recovery mode,Using this mode, service center can back up and recover your data. Press and hold the POWER key more than 8 seconds to reboot and continue using phone." which would eventually take me to the boot loop again if i kept pressing the power button. sigh ! And at this point my phone was not being detected by my pc. I tried "[GUIDE] Optimus G Pro Full Hard Brick fix" by ricanares, but i couldnt get to download mode so the process failed for me After searching for hours and reading tutorials i found out about pdanet drivers and mtk droid tools. which finally detected my phone in pc only when the creen " Recovery mode,Using this mode, service center can back up and recover your data. Press and hold the POWER key more than 8 seconds to reboot and continue using phone." appears. Using mtk droid tools i tried to use a boot image (from an extracted .tot file)and recovery(from same .tot file) but i was getting an error saying no split boot image found.Tried using extracting a .tot file and sideloading the recovery.bin and boot.bin .Tried pushin and sideloading cusom recovery.apk files and all efforts in vein. For any files i send using sideload my phone shows an error "E:footer is wrong ; E: signature verification failed" Using mtk droid tools i could enter into a recovery mode but i dont think it is the cwm recovery mode. it has fewer options. I am so lost at this point ! I need some expert help ...
Things working
1. Boots into stock recovery using mtk tools.
2. Pc recognizes device as LG Android net phone
3.Mtk tools recognizes the device as LG E988
4.Can use adb sideload options to send files to phone in recovery mode (but phone outputs error as 1st attached image )
5.In recovery mode I can see and go into /cache folder using update from cache option.but theres nothing there
THINGS NOT WORKING
1.Doesnt Boot into recovery mode using physical buttons
2.Doesnt Boot into download mode
3.Cant get into fastboot mode with adb commands
4.Doesnt mount sd card .(tried formatting sd card with sdformatter)
5.Don't have a proper backup of my phone.
6.Can't extract downloaded .kdz files to get the boot.img and recovery.img files (tried using lg p970 rom converter, optimus L9 image extractor and lg extract)
HELP
1) Does anyone have extracted .kdz for e988 that has split boot image ?
2)How can i fix E:failed to mount /sdcard error.
3)How do i get to download mode in e988 ? is it possible that i deleted the mode ?

"However i could not get into the download mode no matter which ever key combination i tried."
Have you tried:
1) remove battery
2) hold down both volume buttons and power button
3) insert power cord while keeping buttons held down
4) download mode is yours to cherish??
And for once you get into download mode: your KDZ! (or more here)
From there to go here and do more things. Things cannot be left undone. They hate that.
" SECURE booting ERROR!! Device is unlocked so booting success"
This is normal once you install a custom recovery. As long as your phone works, ignore.

Thanks for your response. Yes i tried that but didn't work. I tried with and without battery both. actually tried numerous times.Only the soft keys keep flashing and nothing else happen. But i will give it a shot again. Plus the secure booting error has changed to "SECURE booting ERROR!! Cause: boot certification verify"-- is it just because I am back to stock recovery ? If only i could get into download mode life would have been a lot easier !! (finger crossed)

Still boned? The LG Support Tool worked for me once, when I was in a similar situation way back last month when I first began smartphoning.
I was in this *exact* same situation after trying to flash my first ROMs and recovery stuff, but I don't remember how I got out of it. :| ACk!
Yupp still stuck . Will try again later tonigh. Didn't get a chance to sit with it the whole day. Hoping for the best !!

Oh! One thing to remember: always plug your USB cable directly into your computers motherboard USB ports, and avoid plugging into USB hub ports (like via a monitor or keyboard). If a desktop: that also means don't use the ports on your computer system. always use the rear ports that plug directly into your motherboard.
(A couple of times I was able to flash a stock TOT/KDZ via the USB hub on my monitor, but that is not a feat that is repeatable for me.)
This makes *all* the difference for me.

The Why: You can't flash that via the stock recovery. You need to use FreeGee to flash CWM or TWRP.
You can get your system into stock recovery: this is good! Does ADB recognize? If not check Windows drivers. If ADB recognizes it, and you can 'adb shell' into it, maybe I could walk you into rooting and installing a custom recovery via the shell?
1) If not already, have ADB at hand. It is your best friend.

Dude, you are so in the wrong program:
LG Flash Tool 1.8 -- this is what handles your TOTs.
Err, wait, you're on E988? Nevermind, no TOTs for you. I've only flashed KDZ a few times, and I don't recall off hand. :| I think it was this one that worked for me: here.

Yes I can actually get into shell using adb. and my device is recognized as an adb device in device manager. If u can walk me into rooting through adb that would be awesome. specially if i could install a cusom recovery. I spent a bit of time yesterday looking into the files in my phone through adb. tried to change the default.prop file , and push in a custom recovery, but no luck. and i could be wrong but I think for some reason my internal storage (/sdcard) is not being mounted.and same for my external sd card.
But i highly appreciate your response dear Thanks alot for looking into it.

No doubt, what kind of jerkoff would do that!

Stuck on load screen, unabled to enter recovery, adb erase cache has no effect

So my second zenfone is dead.
Like many others, it gets stuck at the asus loading screen with the spinning wheel.
This did not happen after any obvious action, like an update - it was just turned off when i woke up, and wont load beyond the spinning wheel of death.
I have booted into fast boot mode (power and vol +), selected [recover mode] and got the broken android logo.
I then hit power and vol+, then release vol+ as suggested, but instead of a menu, i get a bunch of yellow console output, 3rd line of which is:
E: failed to mount /cache (invalid argument)
This appears for less than a second, then back to flashing broken android logo.
Repeating ( power and vol+, then release vol+) results in the same briefly visible console output
I turn off, and reboot into fast boot mode, and try using adb.
I enter the command 'fastboot erase cache' and it completes in 0.4 seconds, no errors. Has no effect on phone (reboot stuck loading, recovery mode same error as above).
Next i try 'fastboot format cache' - the command appears to work, but again completes in just over a second, and has no effect on the phone.
The only info i could find directly relating to this error is on a random .info website, so im reluctant to follow the steps:
http://mobilecon.info/fix-asus-zenf...-into-recovery-mode.html#sthash.slqGoK95.dpbs
Anyone here solved this issue? Or is it time for a warranty claim?
Thanks

Just don't do step 15 (factory reset) if you want to keep your old data.

Thanks for the link - it looks much the same as the one i posted, with the addition of flashing the system image.
Do you know if there is any danger in trying without flashing system 1st?
Also, have you used or seen this method used specifically to fix the mount failure i have described, or its just a general 'de-bricking' guide?
Finally, do you or anyone else have any insight into why this might have happened in the 1st place - as i mention, i did not do anything beyond normal use prior to the issue.
thanks
Sounds like the recovery corrupted... could be a range of things from improper shutdown to an improperly coded app that caused the error. If you want to flash just the recovery and see if that fixes it, go right ahead, but don't forget to erase your cache after you flash recovery.
Whenever I get stuck in a bootloop, the steps I follow are:
1) clear the cache and see if it fixes it, as something might be there that's preventing you from booting
2) flash the most current firmware to see if it fixes it, as something might have modified a section of one of the partitions that's preventing you from booting (make sure to clear cache after flashing)
3) contact support because it's more likely hardware failure
There's no danger in flashing any of those partitions, at most you'd lose the Xposed framework, root and busybox - which are easy to reinstall. It doesn't affect much else, and your info should be intact. I would advise getting the firmware from a reputable source though... I just get it off the Asus website, then root the phone after.
Try reinstall recovery
Download stock recovery(there is download link from zenfone2 index)>go fastboot mode>then flash recovery using command :
fastboot flash recovery (recovery image name).img
>Reboot to recovery>adb sideload full firmware

HTC One M9 Hard Bricked + corrput download mode

Hey there!
I had problems with my HTC before but I managed to fix it by unlocking bootloader and reflashing the stock recovery.
Then after a few weeks my HTC suddenly rebooted itself and got stuck in a bootloop. It then said Phone Storage is encrypted and decryption failed. So i went to recovery mode and did a factory reset which did not work.
Right now bootloader says this: "STATUS:MODIFIED / RELOCKED / S-ON / SECURITY WARNING"
When I try booting to download mode it says: "FAILED TO BOOT TO DOWNLOAD MODE" with the security warning
When I boot to recovery mode it says: "MOUNT /CACHE FAIL" , "CAN'T FIND DEVICE NODE FOR MOUNT POINT /CACHE", but I can navigate normal through its options.
When I try applying an update from SD card oder sideload it always fails and puts out more "FAILED TO MOUNT /CACHE /DEVLOG..." warnings.
When I try to apply the RUU.exe it says my phone isn't charged more than 30%.
fastboot getvar all in bootloader mode wont say anything except my SN.
Wipe data/factory reset or wiping cache will fail and output more "CAN'T MOUNT ..." errors
I can't install a new recovery like TWRP since my bootloader is relocked and download mode is inaccessable.
Also, if my phone is connected to any power source and I power it down it will show the charge animation for a second and hop right back into bootloader.
Anything else I could try?
Thanks (can't put in any images because i just registered..)
I have same porblems but i have the phone unlocked with s-off. Can you help me to fix it? thanks.

I hate to say it, but you might be having some hardware issues with the motherboard. I'm not sure what solution (if any) is available: without download mode or recovery (and a locked bootloader), you may well be out of luck. I'm sorry.

Mi Max 3 stuck in fastboot

Long story short, I tried to flash a global ROM on my Mi phone. However, after a few unsuccessful attempts at doing so, my phone is now stuck in the fast boot screen.
I tried all I know and what I can find online, but the problem still persists, where when holding the power button it would boot to main power screen and then make a buzz and go back to the fastboot screen.
Have tried:
- Resetting through recovery mode (pow + vol up)
- plugging phone into my computer to reflash the ROM (error remote: unknown command) / on my phone it would switch out of fastboot and instead display this message: "press any key/button to shutdown"
- pow + vol down (held for more than 1 minute)
- pow (held for more than 5 minutes, everytime it would boot and then boot back into fastboot mode with the buzz in between)
- ADB console commands:
- fastboot reboot
- fastboot device
- tried using MiPCSuite, plugged my phone in, but application didn't detect my phone
- running all applicable applications as mentioned above as admin
- when resetting phone progress bar would stop at 1.03% then it would say reset completed (I don't think did reset the phone, but whatever...)
- tried different ROM versions, Global and China (Once again it would either switch out of fastboot on screen OR in the flash tool it would display the error "unknown command" which I assume would be something to do with the communication between my PC and the device itself)
At this point I don't know what else to do, watched every tut on youtube, read pretty much all the forums I could find related to this issue.
Any help would be much appreciated!
Is it locked or unlocked?
I whould try to update firmware, then recovery (wipe all at this point) and at the end ROM (format data, wipe dalvik and cache at this point), always worked for me. But - the phone should be unlocked for this

I have tried going into recovery mode and wiping all data, and trying to update the firmware via the flash tool. But as I said above I can't it gives me the error "error: FAILED(remote:unknown command)" and since I can't get into my phone, I can't use mipcsuite either or enable and settings.
Note - wipe data and format data is not the same
I've stuck with some stupid error ("erase all data" message and reboot to twrp) for hours until I formated data
