[Q] iGO Primo - Anyone Using on HTC One M8? - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I'm not a total iGO noob and been using it for a few years on HTC HD2 but now have a really annoying problem.
Just got a HTC One M8 (European) and rooted immediately plus gave SD card write access.
First thing I did was install iGO the usual way and add all the content.
When I'm in default 3D mode, the screen starts 'blinking' after a while. The route and the roads start to disappear and the terrain starts taking over the screen, so that for example it will be all green, the same as the fields. The whole screen starts flashing. This is happening on default scheme/skin or any other HD compatible skin. Meanwhile, the voice and the directions are still all ok.
A couple of times I've got a error message saying "memory is low, use different route options", but that's only a couple of times. Remember, this is a phone with bags of memory and no other apps.
I have tried with the moveable thin apks that I can move to SD with all the content, and have tried every other version of iGO apk with all the iGO folders on the internal memory.
I believe the data.zip is I have is a 1920x1080 HD file and I have tried starting with and without Branding files.
I have tried lots of different sys.txt combinations.
Obviously I delete the Save folder every time.
Please, anyone...HELP!

The SD write problem is I think resolved for me by rooting and flashing a different kernel - I can't remember the thread I got this from, but will post when I find it.
So iGO works now, but the Lesscro Themechanger isn't working now!
The slow display I had came from a memory setting I changed in the sys.txt, thanks to another member.

Nope, afraid not. Even rooting and using SDFix won't work alone. I tried changing the permissions on the R/W SD data but keeps defaulting on reboot. Flashing a different kernel is the best way as far as I know.
It's the Google / KitKat policy that's messed things up!

To fix the sd card issue you have to root. There is no other alternative.Kitkat implemented this issue. To fix it you have to change permissions in es file explorer to rw for all.Or you can flash kernel which disables read/write protection. The best kernel is elementalx kernel.Go give it a try!

Hi, I'm having the same problem with the blinking and disappearing roads running igo on my m8. Could you let me know the sys.text tweak that resolved this for you please? Cheers

This is what a member suggested and it worked for me!

Are you using Themechanger at all? I'm struggling with that.

I've just been on a quick trip around the block and adding the above into the sys.text does indeed seem to have done the trick! Many thanks.
I've not used Themechanger since switching from Windows to Android a few years ago.

Same problem here with HTC M8 and above settings did not help, not even a bit.

Do you mean that iGO is running slowly or just not starting? Have you deleted the SAVE folder and tried. Is your iGO on the SD card or internal?

BTW the themechanger is now working great. It was a problem in sys.txt in the interface settings. Was still set for iGO Windows! Press the widget and changed weather/maps great.

No, i'm talking about iGo is starting fine, but after a while screen starts blinking until it becomes black. Program is still running but screen is black.
I have eleted save folder, re-installed, tried all kinds of versions
iGo is on sd card, but i'm rooted and on a custom kernel with the sdcard read/write permission fixed.
Same configuration on my One X is running fine.

Thanks for the offer. I think i fixed it with a workaround.
I moved the iGO folder on internal memory but kept the "big" content folder on sdcard (which is what i needed anyway)
It seems to work fine now. I will test it again tomorrow when i will be driving and report back.

Any probs let me know. It runs sweet on the m8 mate

Well i think i might take you up on your offer. I can't get rid of the blinking problem.
I have tried everything. But i believe i have identified what creates the problem. If under iGO/content/map i have a lot of maps >3GB then i have the problem.
If i remove some maps then all is fine. It's definitely not my sdcard because i tried moving everything on internal memory and still get the same problem.
Any ideas that might help will be appreciated

It seems that although the above sys.txt file change made iGO run smooth as butter with just maps of one country, I added maps for all of Europe and it keeps freezing. Looks like I'll just have to add maps in whatever country I'm in!

No sd card inserted!

hi, im using a rhod210 tp2 and i recently switched from BLAZN to the apparantly more stable newest Reference. I formatted the sd and installed it and im having some problems.
1.)My SD card isnt found? i cant download because apparantly (no sd card is inserted) when using astaro i can browse and play files on my sd but the music app cant see the sd and neithar can download.
2.)the rhod210 arrow keys keymap which was fixed a couple rootfs builds ago is wrong again. And it seems im on the latest rootfrs so im not sure how they can be unfixed. Unless der has been a mistake in updating the rootfs database or maybe my startup utility is acting up.
EDIT: 3d gallary doesnt find my pic either but im presuming thats because of the problem seeing the sd card

Did you not see this thread...? It covers the exact same issue. As for your keymap, check your startup.txt.
my startup.txt is fine because the alt and caps key work, just the directional keys which used to be fixed
also sry no i didnt see the other thread, my only access to xda is through the xda app and it doesnt have a search function sry for duping on the sd card matter i will check out the other thread
EDIT: no use im using xdandroid cab installation version so their is no partitioning required, i have also tried formatting already. And it works fine in winmo.
Hi Jandyman
I think you have missed the point of the other post. Lots of people have had the problem you are describing (not me thankfully!), and all of them or nearly all of them have resolved it by formatting their SD card fresh using either the HP tool linked to if you use Windows, or gparted if you use linux. The reference to partitioning wasn't relevant.
As for the fact that it works fine in Windows or Windows Mobile, again this is not relevant - this is what the other people with this issue have found too.
Reformat using the right tool (anything but Windows or Windows Mobile pretty much), and try again. Good luck!
And I forgot to mention... a/ there is a search function on the tapatalk XDA app (look under More at the top), and b/ it wouldn't hurt to browse the current threads in this sub-forum.
Ed
Having said that, I just used the search function, and it is even worse than the one on the website! (Is it heretical to criticise the forum tools?)
I searched for 'rhodium touch pro 2 android can't see sd card' and didn't get a single relevant result

That may have been a little too specific of a search dude...
Try to search just the TP2 Android section, and be much more vague in the search terms.
To the op... no pc? How do you update everything, just directly on the phone?

Ah, bummer. Well take the rhodium out at least, but either way searching on the full forum is much easier/better solution...
tanx for the replys arrggh and snalbansed. I formatted my card right before the problem started. But it mightnt hurt if i try with another tool. And unfortunatly i tink i mit need a new micro sdhc,my current one recently corrupted somehow misteriously and couldnt be read (I/O error) so that was why i formatted and then the trouble started. Well first il try another fresh install of the latest xdandroid package, just in case it mit work then. Not likely but worth a try
but the thing which puzzles me is the sd card can be seen and read by the astro browser. music can be played as long as it is selected through astro, apk can be installed through astaro da lot. Just every other app cant seem to read it?

Well when we're at the stage where Android is flashed, in theory all of the issues with the SD will go away. So until that comes... I wouldn't worry about it.

Unable to use SD Card

I started a thread elsewhere and have been advised to put it here for a speedy resolution...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9785290#post9785290
In essence, I have an HTC TP2 running WM 6.5 Pro supplied by Vodafone here in the UK. I have an 8Gb SD card (unknown manufacturer) formatted to FAT32. On the card I store all my WM apps, plus all my folders with files, docs, pictures, video, etc.
On the card I installed Ubuntu and XDAndroid via the 2.2 Froyo.112210 cab
The Ubuntu worked fine, The XDANDROID looked great and on the face of it worked fine too, until I tried to set the ringtone. I realised I was missing calls and notifications because it was on Silent, and I could not change it. I tried to open my music and videos, but the apps said i had no SD card. I checked memory in Settings and it stated that the SD card was mounted, but gave no size info and would not let me Unmount it. I then tried to search media on the card and had no joy. In essence it did not seem to recognise the card.
I then bought another SD card, this time a Kingston 16Gb already formatted to FAT32, added all the files and docs, it too would not work. I have since been round and round the loop of deleting both SD cards, reformatting to FAT32 using both my default Ubuntu app on my Laptop, gParted via my Laptop and the phone. None work.
I now am still on WM 6.5 because I can not use the phone.
I have searched Google and the Forum, and other than formatting to FAT32 I have seen nothing that can help, but that may just be my searching skills.
It has been suggested that some makes of card do not work also.
Other things that I have found a problem:
The keyboard does not light up when I use it, which is impossible poorly lit rooms, etc
Can't find a way of viewing folders, I'm sure there will be more once I get it going...
Any help, please!!!!!
Format with the HP tool. Full format.
Keyboard backlight doesn't work in Linux/Android yet. We're working on it...
Can't find a way of viewing folders...? Astro, OI File Manager...? There's a ton.

Thanks for the tip. I'll try that. It makes more sense. I can't believe taht formatting using different tools can work as a FAT 32 is a FAT 32.... if not then what is it.
Can you tell me. Did you download to laptop, extract and then just copy the files on to your TP2 SD card....?

Either way, download extract & copy or just download & extract straight to your SD.
I don't think anyone should ever use the CAB install. The only benefit you get is a shortcut, which can easily be created manually.

BRILLIANT - WELL DONE... Yes, this is the answer. Not reformatting. God knows how many times I tried and the number of different tools and processes of formatting. None worked.
This worked first go.
I am now just going through the device to fine tune and no doubt will find any glitches or queries.
So, short cut for all readers.
DO NOT USE THE CAB, Use the compresses RAR file.
http://reefermattness.scepterr.info/XDAndroid2.2Froyo.112210.rar
Save on the desktop of your Laptop/PC.
Connect device to the Laptop/PC
Extract to the root of the SD Card
Take out the Programs folder from the extracted folder on the SD Card and put in the Root of the SD Card - this may clash with the WM Programs folder, but I use Ubuntu so it allowed me to merge the two nicely.
Then off you go, boot up....

I'm happy to hear that you had your problem solved.
AFAIK this bug just happenned with the latest version - the Froyo FRX03. I'm using Ubuntu as well, and the after I bought my new Memory stick, I formatted it with the Ubuntu Disk Utility, and the Cab - the Eclair - worked very well...
But like arrrghhh have said, yea people shouldn't use the CAB install. You gotta spend time installing it (and it usually takes quite long), and just to have its shortcut...

Maybe, all I know is that I had trouble getting any releases to work, and spent ages searching for fixes, which is where I first encountered other's issues with the same problem. All suggested a reformat. And the only fix that worked was the zip Maybe if I had used the zip before I would not have had all this trouble.
Now that it works, I need to look at all the other little issues.
Light on all the time
fast use of the battery
Seems to lock up sometimes requiring soft restart
No Blue tooth
No camera
and I can't see my music or pictures, though i can see all those for the various apps!

You really need to at least read the FAQ dude, c'mon these are BASIC questions/problems.
I did tell you to reformat, I didn't think the cab was the issue honestly - I don't ever use the cab, as I think it's quite unnecessary... But others use it just fine AFAIK.
this worked for me...thanks
i installed the cab first and i also had this same problem with the sd card. i tried the zip file and that didn't work either. Then i used the hp tool that is mentioned in post #2 to format the sd and then tried the zip file again and BINGO. So i think a combination of formatting the sd and using the zip file works best. thanks alot guys for all the help. it sucked not having any sound

Could be, but also suggested are gParted, which is a good format tool. The HP is for Windows machines. I use Ubuntu which is Linux, just like Android, so when I installed, it did so within WINE, which is Windows tool for running their apps on Linux. It's not perfect and in this case it could not find the USB ports. No worries though as I think the zip method was the ultimate solution for my senario

A little unkind arrrrghhh... The issues I raised in this reply were immediately after having managed to get the device working. And yes, I know some are in FAQ, though no solutions to most and many are not.
The power issue and the no ringtones options are not. The power has meant that I can not use Android and have gone back to WM for now. I used 2 batteries yesterday and ran out of charged batteries by 6PM! It should last over 24hrs per battery.

Well I'm glad you have such strong opinions about how this project should be. Keep making demands, it's very helpful...
Anyhoo, this project is for TESTING PURPOSES, it's not ready for prime-time yet. Have fun with it, but don't think it's meant to replace WinMo.
Also, all of your questions have been answered before - maybe they're not all in the FAQ, but most are. However, every single question you've asked has been asked before - use search!

Oh, yes, sorry, I am a bit forceful.
Actually, the device in Android has completely died. I have a blank black screen. Sad moment. I like the look, the feel and the way this project works, but it has a long way to go before it is a serious contender, sadly.
UPDATE: I plugged it in to my Laptop to effectively start over, and suddenly the PIN window appeared... We are back on. The ways and wonders of SW.

I dont have the problem with android not reading my sd card and i used the cab file, but android wont read her sd card. did everything the same on both phones, so i am kinda thinking it is the maker of the sd cards.

I have heard this before, which is why I mention my card type in the thread
phone works fine, winmob works fine, if i use 4gb sdcard, android works, BUT
it android does not recognise sdcard(inside android),
if i use a 2gb sd card, inside android, the sd card is recognized.
When i use the 4gb is says sdcard not available,
format of both sd cards is the same, software is the same, android is the same.
for last: ANdroid is with both sd cards working, only inside android there is difference with both cards.
My experience and from what I have seen in my threads and searching is:
1. The SD card itself may make a difference. I have had and seen comments that some makes of card do not work or work as well as others.
2. The card should be formatted externally, i.e. gparted, HP's device or whatever to FAT32
3. The installation of Android should be done by downloading the zip to your PC/Laptop and then copying to the root of your SD card, then it tends to stand more chance of working.
I can second guess someone will contradict me, but I spent 4 months trying to get it working, including working with a developer... And following some advise this is what I found was the only way to make it work.
Give it a bash, but it is what ever works for you.
PS this is only a project so whilst the OS is absolutely fantastic it does have some things that do not work or work well. Good luck

*** UPDATED 1/19/11 *** HD2 G-Sensor Solved!

Greets all,
I just wanted to inform everyone that is using NAND builds Especially DFT's I have solved the G-Sensor Problem. After searching, and sorry for saying no one even giving me an idea even where to look, I finally after days of digging found it!
I can't Promise this will work for everyone, but This does work for me, and it should work for everyone else. Download the attached file, unzip it and then copy your existing bma150_user file from system/bin and make a backup (DO NOT DELETE THIS FILE from its location), then with root access copy the file I attached to the same location over-writing the existing one, then REBOOT, you can now calibrate your G-Sensor without it being facedown.
This MIGHT fix the G-Sensor freeze issues that some have also, again MIGHT
Worse case if this doesnt fix your G-Sensor problem, then copy back your backup and you wont have to hate me, but I think this should work for just about everyone!
(Filesource Credit: Ripped from Motomans234 Carbom EVO Remix SDCard Android)
*** Updated: 1/15/11 ***
Apparently It seems somethings have changed in certain Builds that have stopped the replacing of this file from working. I went on the hunt, and found another work around, but this file is still needed. Follow Below:
Before installing the file above, go to System/Bin and delete the bma150_usr, then navigate to Data/Misc, and delete the following files:
AK8973Prms.txt
AK8973.Prms.txt.tmp (If there)
bma150_usr.txt (If there)
After navigate to the above file and add it to System/BIN and then your calibrating will function correctly and adjust the values properly.
*** UPDATE 1/19/11 ***
This is for anyone that DOESNT have the G-Sensor under Display, but anyone can use it:
Go to market, and download a program called Bubble. Its a program to use your phone as a level. Install it and run it, you have to calibrate it 4 times. First vertical (Side without the volume rocker against something straight), Second horizontal (First volume rocker facing down, bottom against something straight), Third horizontal (Volume rocker facing up, top of phone against something straight). And lastly calibrate the phone laying flat on its back. After that your phone should be calibrated for use.
This workaround will NOT fix the auto-rotation problem.
Any issues, post, if it works for you post a comment so others know.
Hey! nice one!!!
Good job
hi thank you for you solving.
but my hd2 gsensor calibration was freezed yet.

Again just so everyone knows the only phone I can test this out on is the HD2 TMOUS made after June 2010. I seriously think this might have to do with some sort of hardware revision. But I cant be sure.
But I'm trying, as we all know all setups and phones arent the same, just like desktops, but anyone I can help Im happy.
Just a quick bump for the people that are still having issues with the G-Sensor.

Hi, thank you for working this out. I wanna ask a question, is this solution compatiable with all the NAND ROM?
dont work for tested on mult nand rom

It doesn't work on the rom I'm using now, either. Gonna try DFT ROM later, maybe it only works on it.
Again, I dont know which phones it will work with, I do know with a USA HD2 TMOUS made after june 2010 which is what I have it works. The file in question is the bma150_usr file. The file I posted is from Motoman's Carbon EVO remix sdcard android, and it works with the DFT NAND Rom.
For anyone willing to read, or wishes to know how I found this, here is my reference point in finding the driver which controls G-Sensor:

Reference pages: 10 thru 24.

Hey, thanks, man. You have given enough information so far. Good work!
Please show me how to copy your file to system/bin, I tried but I has received a message : "This folder read only", although my hd2 rooted by z4root ?

When in system/bin, depending on the explorer you are using you have to change to Mount R/W, by default you are viewing the folder as Mount R/O.
R/W = Read/Write
R/O = Read/Only

Thanks! I did it, but i don't know why it doesn't work on my phone, although it's running on DFT NAND Rom
Hey, thanks
G-Sensor fix
Did NOT work for me.but I don't have the T-Mobile version either. Yours is probably the T8585, and I have a T9193 (Australian version which does 3G on AT&T) When I 1st did it, it seemed to work (right side calibrator was not going crazy anymore) but then would not rotate screen at all. A temporary work around is if you reinstall the rom, and do NOT use the calibrator at all, screen rotation works fine. Sort of like the old joke; "Doctor it hurts when I touch this!" Doctors reply; "Then don't touch it!"

Even though I didn't use this fix per se, (my G-Sensor was just freezing) this still fixed my issue. The last part where he said about calibrating it face down is what caught my eye. I just did that on the edge of a table and bam, its fixed! My G is now working as it should. So stoked!

So whats the perfect recipe for a functional Android port??

Hi everyone,
For Past week or so, I have been trying and trying and trying with varying degrees of success in my quest to get Android on my Wave. At the moment I am clueless about what I am doing wrong! I have followed the tutorial to the dot! except for the deletion of Wi-fi file. And I have faced all the issues mentioned in the TUT thread in different installs, now its just getting stuck at the language select menu! after choosing language, it freezes! So I want someone who has perfectly installed Android on Wave with applications and Wi-fi to tell me the small tit-bits and nuances, just the wisdom that you may have earned of...this procedure!
Here's my Specs:
Samsung Wave S8500 with XXJK1 firmware successfully flashed and tested with Android.
Sandick 16 GB SDHC Micro SD CARD
Tried 13 bada 2 android but not enough space errors
Tried 14 bada 1 android but random hangs, once boot fine. next time nothing!
Thanks!
It's a pre-alpha release. So you can't expect that it will run smoothly. So my advice wait for the first official release.

Maby is it your Micro Card. More people are complaining that it's not working. I've a scandisk 4GB card and it's working fine. Have you treid both tuts?
Thing is, I had got it working without a hitch with 2gb, but no apps would install and then today I try as most say that you shuold not go over 1 gb for EXT2 Parttion, I kept it one gb and now I am having these absolutely random hangs. what is the secon tutorial? I don't thinnk thats the issue. what size of partition are you using? And what tutorial did you follow..? Thanks.

My partition is 1943 Mb. But if android is running and the partition is smaller then 4gb i think it's go wrong by the chmod 0777 command.
And you can install apps? Also I do not understand what you mean my your second sentence?? you yourseld have a partition of 1933 mb right? and why does it go wrong with chmod?? thanks for replying.. I am trying once again...

The command CHMOD 0777 gives read/write/delete permissions on the folders and files. So when there goes something wrong with that command android can't write files on your sdcard.
Yes i can install apps and play games on android
So you don't use those commands (chmod) when you installed it? and how did you copy your files? thanks for the replies
EDIT: Woo hoo!! angry birds just worked! but I am getting ERROR when I try to enable Wi-fi! Do you know what this issue??

Yes i used the command (chmod) because if you don't use, the market never works.

Then i've no idea. You can try on the IRQ channel, there are devs.

RE
Android not booting anymore on 4GB, it breaks the ext2 filesystem. Now giving up and living on Bada again
The perfect recipe is WAITING for the stable release. Oleg and company are working so hard in this port and its so unstable not and have some clues to be solved.
Please, if you don't know what are you really doing, stop trying Android unless it will be fully ported. Because nowadays it will be unstable and nothing we can do will solve it.
We just have to be pacient and give our support to developers, and let then do their job.
Android in our Waves is now a reality, don't disturb people who are working on it and let them porting it. Maybe it will be fully ported in a few months.
This release is only for testing purposes, not for playing Angry Birds and nothing else, and its pretty useless. So don't think you will get a full Android right now installing some patches and touching the configuration, because it is IMPOSSIBLE right now.
Threads with no sense like this one, made only by impatient people, should be closed.
Regards.
agree with the last post, I am also tempted to make the port but I badly need a working phone , so I guess will wait for the stable version when I see everyone is ok with theirs
unmount your device and use fcsk -y /dev/<your_device>. this should correct problems becoz most of the people has prob due to not properly created filesystem or sudden shutdown. this will also solve input output error on chmod
Thanks people! but I got it working to the fullest (atleast, upto what is possible atm)!!
I noticed that for some reason, there were some files missing in 'System/etc' folder.
namely, the Wifi folder. So I pasted it from my PC and chmoded it and sudo synced it. then repaired with Gparted. Now works perfect! XD

SM-T805 just won't let edit files on SD

Just purchased my galaxy tab s. When I found out how it behaves with external memory rooted it at once, did the thing for read/write permissions, disabled this weird safety feature and... It does not alow editing files to any program which causes a big problem when I try to use "iGO" navigator for example which keeps its files on SD, or use some office program to edit any content on SD... It does alow creating and deleting files though.
Any ideas? Many thanks in advance!
I guess it's a kitkat problem. I heard in lollipop google returned to full read write access to SD cards.
Or try using a custom kernel

Sorry i meant try a custom kernel. Skyhigh kernel fixes sd problems. I am running it now and it does work. Perhaps you can try that?

I only found topics about sd r/w problems where they say that I need to root and run some code (or edit some file manually) to fix permissions. Well I did it... But I couldn't find anyone talking about editing... I can get around that by saving an edited file in diferent name, deleting the original and renaming it back to original... But programs I try to use does not do tricks like that :silly:
Was your problem similar? Any links regarding the fix of this?

Well I have always ran skyhigh kernel for my sd card. Even if rooted with the sd fix my sd card still worked fine(on stock rom). Perhaps it could be the file manager your using? Well i also seen the r/w fix by editing a file but that was months ago and I forget how to do it. Sometimes sd fix app would say its fixed, but it wasnt. So using another app from the playstore could fix it? Hope this helps

The file seems to be edited properly but none of programs are able to edit files. Biggest problem at the moment that iGO won't save its configuration and shut down when a route is entered. I assume it is because of unability to edit files in sd also
