4.4 Bootloader Update - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Ok sorry I'm a huge noob, my Note 3 is already rooted, I've been running custom rom for a while.. I've been searching for hours but unable to find any clear answer. How in the world do I update my bootloader to 4.4?
What exactly do I have to flash in Odin? I've been unable to find any thread that specifically mentions updating bootloaders. Sorry for the noobness but I'm at my whit's end.

take the OTA update to 4.4 if your running 4.3 now. no need to odin anything

For a 4.3 ROM, you need to install 4.3 bootloaders. Are there any drawbacks?

I'm considering upgrading to a 4.3 rom from 4.1.2 and I've learned that a stock image of 4.3 must be flashed first (thorugh Odin?) to update the bootloader to 4.3.
Is there any drawback to upgrading? Will I still be able to flash 4.1.2 roms using the 4.3 bootloader? Will I be able to downgrade to the 4.1.2 bootloader (should the need arise)?
Side question: is Odin the only way to update the bootloader? Can it be flashed through TWRP?

You'll have Knox. (Stock) which locks u down cause u can't downgrade and by rooting, you're going for a un-reset-able Knox Warranty Void trigger. Downgrading bootloader is impossible as of now, but flashing ROMs should be possible. (Should, not damn sure)
Side Answer: don't think so. Just flash stock 4.3 through TWRP and u should be good to go.
Smack that thanks button If I helped!

I'm running 4.3 JediMasterX2 with old bootloader and devil kernel and everything seems to be running fine. There was a very informative post made recently they gave a clean and simple explication of pros and cons to bootloader update. I'll try to locate and post a link but long story short, it's in your best interest not to update bootloader if you don't have to.

Please don't do the official update and get yourself locked down like many of us have. I have flashed many 4.3 roms and they worked fine. Got a new phone and did the official update and now I cannot send this device in for warranty because of the KNOX flash counter.

[Q] LK3 and MB1 on 4.1.2

Hey guys,
I am on Baseband version I747UCDLK3, and Build number JZO54K.I747VRBMB1, 4.1.2. Running Hyperdrive RLS16. I have been seeing some posts this morning about being able to flash and get to 4.3 but still be able to have the option to flash back to Stock root injected 4.1.1 if I want. I need some more info on this if you guys could help me. Im going to be searching these posts all day so dont think Im just being lazy, but there is a lot of posts here. Do you think I should just wait until there is a confirmed fix for all of this and just flash 4.1.2 ROMS for now? THanks community.

Flash all the 4.3 ROMs you want, just be sure not to flash the bootloader. The ROMs here are stock rooted and do not contain the bootloader. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2540998. You can come back from these no problem. And to confuse things even further, even if you did flash the official 4.3 with the bootloader, you could still flash 4.1.x ROMs as long as they do not contain a bootloader.

[Q] super noob question here

I wanted to flash this rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2725750
However it says "Do not mix and match 4.3 firmware (bootloaders/modem) with the new NE4 ones. You will hard brick" I jsut did the 4.4 ota update will I be ok if I flash this? also what exactly does it mean do not mix? sorry for the noob question and thank you for anyone who answers.
Also Im rooted and installed Twrp.

How To Update and Root to 4.4.4

Hi, sorry this is probably a noob question but I've been reading through the forums and got confused how to update my rooted s4. Normally I would just install the custom rom with the update but it seems like this isnt the case right now.
I'm currently on 4.2.2, rooted, and have wicked as my rom. How would I update to 4.4.4? From what I understand there is a new modem and firmware... something to do with NH7? Can someone explain to me what NH7 does. Thanks for all your help!
NH7 is the newest firmware based on 4.4.4 and it is recommended if you plan of using 4.4.4 tw roms. To update it just download the NH7 firmware from general thread and flash it with Odin, after that you can use cf-auto root to root, or if you're just planning to flash a ROM then just flash recovery and then flash ROM.. If you care about tripping your Knox counter then just know that flashing recovery or rooting will trip it

You mention that you want to update and that under normal circumstances you would simply flash the an updated custom ROM... yet you say you've read it isn't that simple, right?
You are correct, it isn't THAT simple, but it is ALMOST that simple. Being as that you are still on the old 4.2.2 pre-KNOX bootloader and all, you can flash and flash and flash all day long and a single use of Triangle Away is all you'd need to still be able to revert your device back to 100% stock, both firmware AND flash counters if you ever needed to for some reason. If you use Odin, Kies, or take an OTA update you will lose that ability. Anything you flash once you go through official channels to update will trip your KNOX counter... and that cannot be reset. The problems you've read about simply flashing an updated custom ROM is that you will have problems with data.
The data drops can be avoided by flashing the newest modem, which would be NH7. Understand though, that method only updates your GSM modem; your LTE modem would be unaffected. This would only be a problem though if you are having trouble receiving LTE where others with the same carrier can get it with no problem. If you aren't having any problems with LTE, then I would recommend to simply update your GSM modem and use the custom recovery of your choice (ClockWorkMod, Philz Touch, or TWRP) to flash any of the ROMs in the T-Mobile GS4 Android Development section.
To update your GSM modem, follow the instructions in this thread. That thread is for updating to the 4.4.2 NB4 modem, which that modem would actually be all you need; but if you wish to have the NH7 modem, just use the modem.bin ONLY file from this post instead of the modem package included in the tutorial thread. After that little bit of work, you can flash any Android version you want; from 4.2.2 all the way up to 4.4.4... AOSP, TouchWiz, or the Google Play Edition ROMs.
So from what I understand...
1. Update the modem not firmware
2. Flash ROM
So I don't need to re-root?
You are correct.
No need to re-root.

What is the quickest way to upgrade everything to the latest note 2 software version?

Hi im a newbie and I wast just wondering if anyone knew where I can find the latest firmware update? I have an att note 2 that I flashed back to stock 4.1.1 and then rooted it but im having a hard time flashing all the latest custom roms like they keep failing! So my only guess is that my modem or kernel or baseband or bootloader needs to be updated or something! So my question is is there a way I can keep root and update these and if so how would I go bout doing so? Any answers would be much appreciated!
The simplest, but not fastest, would be to flash back to a completely stock 4.1.1 from and run ota updates until the phone is running 4.4.2.
