Na I didnt, I felt it is no point when there is work around for everything you want to do. HOwever, if you wanted to S-OFF your phone, just follow the instructions given for HTC one, it might work for the HTC desire 816 too. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2632351

Out of curiosity, I tried few minutes ago and failed. Below is the error message I got "device patched by HTC, you are out of luck". It could be because of mobile version or something else. Fortunately, my device was not corrupted and I am happy about it

G2 with desire z hboot problem

Normally when you flash a DESIRE Z HBOOT ON A g2 THE PHONES DOENT COME ON AND IS NORMALLY AT THE HTC LOGO WHICH IS NORMAL (I KNOW) MY QUESTION IS WHY IS MY PHONE NOT SATYING ON THE G2 LOGO BUT RATHER BOOTING INTO MY PREVIOUS ROM BEFORING UPDATING THE HBOOT TO THE DESIRE Z'S?
Didn't the wiki guide have two sections during the root process? One to setup DZ hboot and another for regular if you didn't want to do it at that time? Perhaps you followed the DZ hboot setup during rooting thinking it was part of the normal process?
Or maybe I'm just nuts. It was a long time ago when I did mine.
I followed the link on the virtous site

If it was to load a sense based ROM then I'd assume that loading the DZ hboot was part of the tutorial. It is required to run sense ROMs.

Any1 no where I can download the dz hboot so I can flash sense Roms? I've tried the virtuous site and the thread here, neither one working.

Ok huys here's the Desire Z Hboot for G2 http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7876413/PC10IMG.zip now as I said idk if it flashes correctly becuz the phone dosent stay in the HTC LOGO AFTER THE FLASH BUT RATHER BOOT TO MY ROM BEFOR FLASHING THE HBOOT just to be safe like me check the md5 sums of that against the virtous site and make sure it is the correct one before flashing http://www.virtuousrom.com/2011/06/t-mobile-g2-users-migrating-to-desirez.html?m=1 ( or else we all know the consequences)

That link for the DZ Hboot isn't going to work because it's to my Dropbox account and I've deleted the file... I don't use DB for long term storage. If anyone needs it and can't find it elsewhere you can PM me. And if you want to share it please link to your own hosting service.

I sent Ptaylor09 the file a couple days ago and I'll make sure I send it to bombaider in a bit. If you want, I can send you a Dropbox invite which will afford us both additional storage space. Then you can easily share files thru your public folder. Just PM me with your email if you're interested.

How to root Bell HTC Desire Z?

You're NOT going to want to use Visionary... it's outdated and when you use it you run the risk of bricking her device. Should be stickies to this effect in several places. The best resource for rooting is going to be found here under "Rooting the Vision (G2/DZ)".

I used the visionary method when rooting and it worked but it will not work if ur G2 is OTA updated..in that case u need to downgrade than try visionary....I do not recomend you use visionary but rather the CM wiki rooting using gfree its much safer and less chances that ull brick ur phone

They are separate... SIM-unlock, hence the name, allows you to use different carrier's SIM cards... if you followed the wiki thoroughly to root with gfree, you'll have SIM-unlock... otherwise, no those "one-click" methods do not unlock your SIM.

a)you didn't look at all on this topic
b)you looked hard but couldn't find stickied guide on how to do it in this very forum poking in your eyes.

No reason really, fastbooting the .img I'm simple. But s-off makes it a little easier

Like one-x master said, no free s-off.
But you can instal RUU with S-ON also, you just need to relock bootloader (if it's unlocked).

Well, easyest way to do it, open new thread in Q&A section, in fastboot type fastboot getvar all and than copy everything except IMEI and serial number, someone will give you link to download RUU, and instaling ruu should be very easy.
It's always the easiest too, to read a couple threads/guides in general or also android development section I think...there are enough for that..and a bit searching even if you Google it you can find easy a RUU

But now I can not do successfully.

[Q] HTC Desire 601 will not boot past fast boot, Need fix if possible.

As it stands i'm fairly new to this. and I'm sure that i missed a step or did something incorrectly. My phone is now not booting up at all (attempted rooting). it just freezes at HTC and the only way I can shut it off is by going into fastboot.
