Camera lens protector - Xperia Z1 Accessories

Hi XDA members,
A month ago I ordered this one to protect the camera lens. The lens protector is made from plastic, so it become scratched very fast. Does somebody know a alternative, possibly made from Gorilla Glass?
My Xperia Z had a lot of scratches on the lens, so the quality of my photos become worse. That is the reason for my question.
Greetings

I can live with that, that's better than a permanent damage on the camera lens.

Martin Fields Screen protectors come with a camera lens protector made from the same hard wearing substance that the screen protectors are made from. I highly recommend Martin Fields products.

Is the camera lens made of glass?
I really don't want to put a protector on it fearing it would alter photos.

I'm pretty sure you won't find a protector that covers the camera. Both my front and back protectors go around the camera.
fairly sure the camera lens is glass- mine already has two small chips in it. Not happy about it, as this is my first of 5+ phones to have anything like this happen to the camera.
Doesn't seem to effect the images, but i am still not pleased.

There is a company that offers a protector for the lens. I forgot which it is, but 1 does have it.

sorry to revive this thread but is there anyone that knows for sure if the camera lens cover is glass of plastic? just curious because i have some scratches on mine that i was going to try to buff out with a plastic-x headlight scratch remover.
this stuff works great on hard plastic and just wanted confirmation before applying it to a glass cover. thanks

I don't think buffing is a good idea ...
yea i just have some scratches on the lens cover and was curious of the material. figure if i did try to use the plastic-x i may do more harm then good but was just curious. a little ocd. i guess if they get significantly worse i can always replace the rear housing. thanks

Scratches on camera lens?

Hey guys I got desire 820 5 days ago, I am using it without any case, today I noticed the camera lens has 3-4 scratches. A possibility is that these scratches are on the anti reflective coating. I couldn't find any info if desire 820 has such coating on camera lens. Any of you having similar issue? I don't think the scratches are affecting picture quality much, and if I remove the coating (if any), it will just bring in a lot of glare in daylight shots. What's your opinion? Should I go to service center and get that anti reflective coating removed?
Use colgate

Take a soft cloth, apply a minute amount of colgate paste on the cloth and rub the camera glass with moderate pressure.Be careful not to break the glass . I have tested this on my Xperia M and it worked.

i don't know of any camera cover for the Z1. besides, a cover would hinder the phone's camera from taking nice photographs. you could buy a tempered glass protector for the front and back. the tempered glass would add some bulk to your phone, (0.3 mm per side) and that raise would allow the camera to not touch any surface. also, the camera glass is sapphire. I've been using it caseless with a film protector at the back, no scratches yet. It has taken a lot of falls, so it can take a beating. but don't torture it.

i added some clear tape to the camera and it doesn't seem to affect the focus or the pictures . I will leave it with the tape until i will find a good tempered protector to apply

the Z1 has a camera glass protection on it's backcover. a z1 backcover is quite cheap and can easily be replaced. ~15 Euros

You mean the protector film applyed by sony or the glass back of the phone? The screen protector doesnțt cover the camera lens.

I am talking about the glass.
i dont think that my camera is covered by a glas . I can feel the metal camera ring and the back of the phone seems to be cut around the camera lens.
im also planning to buy the Camera Lens protector. does it affect the quality of the pictures?

I already installed a lens protector (devilcase brand) it doesnt affect the quality of the camera/photos.
Using a Devilcase camera lens protector for a month or two now and no negative side effects yet so it's good.?

Camera lens sapphire glass?

As per title. I've read some reports online that mentions the g4 uses sapphire glass lens to cover the camera is that true?
Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk
I highly doubt it, as mine already has several hairline scratches.
Ahh, that sucks. Haven't actually gotten the g4 yet, but will be getting it in around a month. I've already ordered cases screen protector and a glass camera lens protector too.

Nope, it can get scratched with a blade but not keys. Same applies to the screen. The slight curve helps raise the camera lens, but a case that rises above the camera is best.

Does camera lens protector affect images quality?

Thinking of getting a camera lens protector to protect it from scratches but worried it will affect the image quality. Any comments?
It sucks up 5% of the light, but the quality itself is not affected.
Might have some light reflections in your pictures when you use a cheap one.
No reflections at all here...

where did you get the camera lens from man? Looking forward to buying one for me Xperia 5 too!
Am I missing something, isn't the lens already covered in Gorilla glass 6?
As long as your case lifts the lens off the surface when you put it down, you shouldn't need an extra cover.
Any extra layer over the lens is going to degrade picture quality.

I tested one and found it introduces both glare and tends to diminish clarity. I would recommend against putting one on.
This is also similar to tempered glass or hydrogel front screen protectors. The front camera is so poor IMHO that it needs as much light as possible and nothing to dimish clarity.

Yeap, anytime you add optic elements like this you degrade the performance.
Almost all smartphone cams have built in lens protectors. That piece of glass or plastic isn't the lense, it's the protector!
Get a good case with a raised guard around the cam module and it will be fine.
Replacements aren't that expensive anyway.
Thanks for the inputs. Previously, my old xperia z's lens got covered in scratches during one my trip overseas. But eventually I managed to rub off the entire coating hence removing the scratches. That's why i started looking into lens protector.
