I've sold my Nexus 5 and got myself a Xiaomi Mi3.
I cannot get the watch to work with it. It connects,but it does not install any apps. I've searched through MIUI forums, but nothing helped.
Any ideas?

lemme guess.. dev rom 4.4 right? i also face this and is apparently to all 4.4 based ROMs, maybe Sony didnt update the apps to be compatible
For MIUI, try to do the following
1.Give all of SW2 app whole competence, including let it launch itself.
2.Move app to the system partition.
3.Flash Android primary system instead of MIUI.

i have found a way to get my sony sw2 and its extensions working in both miui v5 and v6 on my xiaomi mi3w and mi4
in fact it was very simple omia
the only issue is you need to get a paid app (well i have only tried on on this paid apps)
the first one is titanium backup:

Root toolbox pro:

first install
sony smart connect:

then the sony sw2 application

and pair the phone and sw2 like normal
install any apps for the smart watch you want
then use either titanuim backp or root toolbox
and convert smart connect to a "system app"
and any smart extensions you want
there you go...simple

But changing the smartwatch2 related apps to System Apps works. Im using Link2sd because the free version can convert apps to system apps

I have been playing around, and as suspected the app extensions are not started, therefore not integrated in the Smart Connect suite. Extensions that have a configuration screen outside Smart Connect, could be running, but ones that reside entirely within the suite did not. So you have to call these by hand.
Prerequisites:
Mi3 paired with your SmartWatch
Smart Connect + Smartwatch 2 installed
Work plan
Install Quick Shortcut Maker or QCustomShortcut or comparable. I will use the first
Install the desired Smart Extension
Open shortcut maker and look for the Extension in the list
Unfold the option list and select the Intent that is called yiberidada.dodo.whateveritiscalled.PreferenceActivity (See picture 1 )
Tap "Try" (picture 2), and you get into the Preference dialog of the extension. You don't need to actually make the shortcut, so you can close the Shortcut maker app.
Now make a local backup of these two apps: Smart Connect and SmartWatch 2 (picture 3). Your watch will vibrate once after the backup is completed.
After completing the backup, you may want to delete the backup file because you don't need it.
Check out the app list in Smart Connect and see that the Smart Extension is visible in the installed applications list. Yiaajjj!! (Picture 4)

Can u tell me the method that worked for u as im using lg optimus 2x and after factory reset the watch was wrking just fine untill wen i updated a few apps then the watch is paired and connected to my fone but i cannot do any from my phone to watch and vice versa.
i tried moving smartconnect to system using Link2s, Smartconnect started force closing and link2sd asked for a restar aftr which the fc was resolved no improvement in connectivity...

I installed Titanium Backup Free version and tried to use it but it did not work.
I use Gingerbread XXJVS with Semaphore Kernel 1.7.0 (2.6.35.7-I9000XXJVS-CL565837) with Superuser 2.3.6.1 and busybox 1.16.2android minimal.
I made backups with batch processing and option "all apps+system data" (I translate from polish so just to let you know it is the 3rd option in backup section) and then uninstalled the backed up SocialHub 1.00.10102 system app.
When I try to restore it the popup message "Restoring app+data" appears and it does not go any further.
- It does not work neither with v4.4.0 nor the version prior to that (i updated in the meantime).
- It does not work with Superuser 3.0.
- Enabling /system as rw in Terminal Emulator did not help (i found this suggestion somewhere else)
- I cannot change the Settings-> Apps processing mode as suggested here by the author of TiB:

It is grayed and marked as [PRO only]. I do have USB debugging on.

My titanium backup pro hangs the same way when trying to restore the motoblur Homescreen app ... droid 3

We're sorry, system apps are critical and should not be removed in the first place. Some apps are tightly ROM bounded, while others are dependent on other system entities which could break things when they are removed. We have already provided the warning in the preferences that you will be held responsible of your own actions upon removing the system apps and we will not provide support for restoring them back. In most cases like this, you will have to reflash your ROM or restore your nandroid backup (you must always keep a nandroid handy).

Great answer.. Should never had bought the pro license. That's a really lame excuse because I used it on other phones and never had any of those problems with system apps.

I suggest the Official Developer's ROM,it contains root and can install Google Apps easily.
And then you can install the file attached(checking by yourself,just got it from my /data/app)
use it to install google apps and then update them up to date with play store.
I know there's some 3rd party ROMs for foreign users.you can try them too.

been trying to update via the physical method of power and volume up.
but it will stop halfway and say invalid
at the Updater

copy your backup and files out of the phone if you don't want lose them.

but they are in a different folder i.e oem/apps & oem/priv-apps
i tried several ways but didn't find a way to incorporate it in the script. for now the best way to delete them is through root explorer.
again, i dont have any idea about coding. i just edited the zip file to be compatible with our device.
if someone could find a way to do it then i can surely add that too

The zip package works yes, I used it today on my Moto G4 with stock rom, it worked perfectly. Something that I do not recommend removing is Republic Wireless, in case you remove it will give you an error in the applications option in the settings, the maximum you should do is to freeze it using the titanium backup or some other program that does the same.

It should still work with 8.1 stock rom, because package names should still be the same. Better backup your system with TWRP before you flash the debloater, just to be safe.

1. I was able to install gapps (Bitgapps .6) and login to google. But my contacts didn't show up. In the settings >other accounts section, there is no option to enable contacts sync
2. I installed Titanium backup pro which i purchased from google and titanium took quite a long time(this is true of all all apps requiring root) to acquire root privileges. Also I was not able to do batch restore . After restoring one app titanium exits.
3 gcam works. Stock camera does not work. Able to record videos and photos using gcam
4 There was heating with the default kernel, ie nameless R28. I installed bubble wrap successfully, but still the temp was above normal ie around 50°C.
5. Volte works.
So the initial set up of apps and data could take some time. Also heating. Chinese characters are there in some apps. Otherwise ROM can be used as daily driver.

Yes... Exactly. Sorry if i wasn't clear. I'm trying to find some way or someone to help get the apk. I'm asking for help if maybe someone here has a cn rom with the xiaomi getapps app they could help download the app/apk and hopefully share it with us... I would do it but i have a global rom. It won't let me download/install.
Ah I know what you mean... I'm on Pad 5 Pro with CN ROM. The Getapp link you posted says there is no file. I searched within Getapp, but couldn't find anything that looked relevant. I tried the older version (12.1.125) but didn't find it any better than the normal landscape mode. e. g. The size of windows is fixed. Maybe that's why we want a new version optimised for this tablet? The newer version (12.1.145) installed OK but there was no app icon to open it so you can't use it.
Oh look in the pull down menu there should be an icon in there. I actually found the uploader of the 12.1.125 version and pleaded with him to find the updated version, 12.1.145.7 and it works better... However it's still for the mi mix.
In the getapps app, i just search pc launcher, it's totally there.. but I'm unable to install it. Something about a compatibility problem... But please try...

Thanks! Yes after updating my Getapps, the PC mode app showed up, but I hit the same compatibility issue as you did when trying to install it. I also looked round to see if anyone had uploaded the newest apk on some Chinese forums etc (I'm Japanese, so I could sort of understand some characters...) but wasn't lucky enough.
Thanks so much for trying! I just hope xiaomi releases it for those of us outside china...!

Telegram version is the same one from apkmirror. Originally 12.1.125 was uploaded to apkmirror back in july, and that's what most people were using and talkiing about. I found the uploader (igor, awesome dude!) and pleaded to find a newer version and he uploaded 12.1.145.7. i think these are extracted from the mi fold rom, so some aspects of the app are sometimes wrong. However xiaomi has been uploadng to their own getapps app store... versions for the pad5 (i think) starting the first week of november. The first version back then was 12.1.146.6 and currently (10 or so)) days later is 12.1.147.4. It's obviously being updated regularly. These are the ones that i think will work best with our mi pads. Just seems kinda impossible to get ahold of as they're not letting global users install it.

Hi, I have installed version 12.1.151.4 and it works but there is no icon. The application can be launched from the top blind, but I don't see any difference between version 125
