Recovery Booting... - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

Hi,
EVERY time i start my device, at the top left hand corner the words "Recovery Booting..." appear in blue.
But I am unable to boot into recovery mode, vol up+home+power doesn't do anything, it just boots normally into the phone (with the "Recovery Booting..." on the boot screen). I don't know if it's related, but Triangle Away doesn't work.
How do i boot normally?
Thanks,
Al

Are you trying to boot into recovery or a regular boot?

To boot into recovery try pressing Power + Vol up (no HOME button. It is not needed on the s4) and let go of the Power button when the phone vibrates. Release Vol when you see the boot screen.

What happened to android stock recovery?

I had several android phones before
all of them had standard recovery which look like this one:
http://www.omappedia.org/images/b/b3/2011-03-22_19-27-25_273-II.jpg
but when I try to enter recovery mode with the GN I only get android lying (link in operation) with red triangle and exclamation mark.
there is no wipe or other options to choose from.
also the only thing I can do in this state is to pull out the battery.
SO...
where is the stock recovery?

It's right before you. You just need to hit a key combo to get past the warning screen. Perhaps the same one you used to get to the recovery.
if you just leave it, it will reboot by itself eventually

There is no combination to enter recovery directly.
I entered fastboot mode
and selected recovery.

I'd go ahead and try either volume down / volume up / or both at the same time to see if u get into the stock recovery once your at the exclamation screen

Yeah, that is pretty much what I meant by my post. there is only 3 keys.
so it's either:
up vol + power
down vol + power
up and down vol + power
I think it is the last one, since I think that is what takes you to fastboot. I don't have my Gnex just yet. so can't check.
I just tried again all the combination
still nothing
Press the middle of the volume rocker after you are in the fastboot menu and the top selection will scroll the boot options including recovery. Hit power when the desired option is displayed.
Thats what I did to get to the red triangle
I found out what the next combo is
first hold power then add volume up
Thank you
Thanks guys
Spent ages messing found ODIN mode and others then one search and up pops the ansa.
Wow lots of weird answers in this thread.....
In recovery, if you see the android with the exclamation point, press the power key and while holding it press volume up. This will reveal the recovery UI.

ODIN mode, potential brick

Hey there.
I am boarding an airplane in a couple hours so I am urgently seeking help.
I am using akop b25. I was installing a Google music apk and my phone restarted. It then went into a boot loop.
When I turn the phone in using power+volume down, it boots into a screen like fast boot except it says ODIN mode in red at the top, under the android picture it says downloading.... do not turn off the target. The only thing I can do from here is battery pull or press the power button to activate "start", which just boots the device and back into boot loop.
Can anyone help me with this situation. Thanks alot
Try another button combo. Volume up and power button?
In recovery, reflash the rom. I'm not sure though how an apk install caused boot loops.

To get to fastboot the button combo is Vol Up + Vol Down + Pwr. From there select recovery and reflash.

Wow, epic face palm. I could have sworn fast boot was volume down only. Okay, I should be fine then.
Thanks a lot guys

Help recover my phone?

So I just applied a ROM update to my phone, it started bugging out for a while and a blank screen appeared.
Rebooted and it flashes the Samsung pic, then just stays blank.
If I boot into recovery, then press continue it just states ' downloading....do not turn off target!!'
Left it for ages and nothing happens
Don't think I can do a factory reset without getting past this?
Please help with any suggestions
It sounds like you are sitting into download mode, not into recovery.
Power+ home+ vol down: download mode
Power+ home+ vol up: recovery

[Q] Has anyone encountered a frozen boot screen?

So I messed up...
I flashed the new JB, rooted, and unlocked it(FreeGee) and it was working decently. For some reason (that I can't remember now), I had to go back to ZV7 using LGNPST. When I reupdated to ZVB, I think I forgot to unlock with FreeGee and debloated. (at this point, you're thinking "this guy is a complete idiot") After my next restart, I got the dreaded "security error" bootloop.
I didn't panic yet. I went ahead and tried to downdate to ZV7 again using LGNPST. At 85%, the phone rebooted as normal but after the boot screen, it froze showing the "4GLTE" screen at the end of the animation. I tried waiting it out but no luck.
When I tried downdating again, I'm getting the same boot screen freeze. Worst part is I can't access recovery; the phone just restarts and goes through the boot animation.
So now, I'm panicking. Anyone else encountered this problem and/or can enlighten me please?
Go to recovery and factory reset the phone.

I tried accessing the recovery (Vol up + power?) but it just starts the boot animation. Is there any other way to access it? Also, because I used LGNPST, it should open the stock recovery, right?
Power button 45 seconds
Hold the power button down for about 45 seconds. This will truly turn off the phone.
Access recovery using Vol. Up and Power buttons, then factory reset, and reboot.
You will be good to go.

No luck :crying:
As soon as I hit the two button combo, I get the red LG globe logo pop up for a second.
If I release as soon as I see the logo, it goes to the boot animation
If I continue to hold the buttons (and wait for the the blind menu on the bottom left), the screen remains black and nothing comes on...even after holding the buttons for 45-60 secs.

It worked! Thank you so much!
I couldn't get into recovery last night either.
This is the simplest way, methinks (from command prompt with adb.exe in same folder):
adb reboot recovery

How to boot into stock recovery

I'm trying to clear my caches because my battery is doing some funny stuff every since I got the tablet. Just constantly being used up, even over night it drops 25% when I'm not doing anything. I've only downloaded a few apps but it says "Android OS" is what's taking 50% of the battery.
So I get into Recovery by turning off the device, holding power + Vol. down and then I select Recovery mode.
But all I get is an image of the Android with it's belly open and it says "No command."
How do I get to where I can run everything?
Please help!
Thanks!
Is your bootloader unlocked and have you rooted the device yet? The only way I know how to clear the caches through recovery is by doing that first and installing a custom recovery like twrp. If you aren't rooted yet and don't want to root the device I would suggest doing a factory reset first and see if that helps. To do a factory reset go to settings --> backup & reset.

You can do a factory reset like the previous poster mentioned.
If you want to get the stock recovery menu from the android fallen screen, press volUp.
Here is your answer if you cannot get in to the os. The commands will not show up unless you do a two button combo. You can get in to stock recovery by doing the following.
When powered off
Hold power+vol down
When bootloader screen comes up
Use volume down to select recovery and then hit the power button
It will then go in to recovery but only show an android with exclamation point.
From here to see command you have to press power + the middle of the volume button (There is a middle button here) Saw the button in the teardown.
From here you can do a factory reset of the device also.

Yeah this didn't work. I know I got into recovery once without being rooted, but that was on a different device.
I did a factory reset so we'll see if that helps. But it isn't looking like it....
No apps downloaded, only on wifi, brightness is all the way down, turned off location services and the "Android OS" is still taking the battery. It's at 96% after an hour and a half of literally not using it at all...
When you get to the screen with the android and !, press and hold the power button and then press the vol up. No other combination will work. You can not press the buttons at the same time.
