[Q] Accessibility apps not running - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Hey everyone,
I'm having a problem all of a sudden with my rooted S3 on Bell. I have Tasker, LightFlow, and LMT running as accessibility apps, that SHOULD be running when the phone starts. For some reason over the last couple days, when I go into Accessibility Options they say "Off" and of course they're not running. All my Wi-Fi rules for profiles and sounds etc don't work when Tasker isn't running, and of course no custom LED colors either.
They seem to work when I manually start each app, but that's kind of a nuisance to do every time I start the phone.
It's rooted, so it hasn't done any updates recently that could have changed anything, and I'm out of ideas as to why it's not starting these apps by itself.
Any suggestions?

Did you try removing the rules and re-applying them?

Removing the Tasker rules and reapplying them? No I haven't tried that. It's not just Tasker that's having issues, its every program that should be running in accessibility mode.

Galaxy Nexus not vibrating on notifications - Light Flow issue?

I've been using Light Flow for the last couple of days, but as of today my phone will no longer vibrate for notifications. The vibrator itself is perfectly fine - haptic feedback will still work and such and it vibrates on boot.
So, I figured the last Light Flow update that pushed out broke something. I backed up my settings, uninstalled it, rebooted, and expected my notification vibrations to continue working...
They didn't. I have it set to always vibrate both in sound settings and in all of my apps, but nothing seems to be working. I'm at a loss for ideas right now other then a factory reset. I am not rooted or unlocked yet, so I suppose it'd be a good chance to do it, but...
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Aha! I found the fix - for some reason, notification vibrations were disabled SEPARATELY from every other vibration. Like, not even in the apps. The application "Sound Manager" in the market was able to fix this.

Looks like you just beat me to suggesting using the app "sound manager". I refer people to this app after somebody managed to figure that out in the past.
Note lightflow itself only sends notifications to android to vibrate, there's nothing fancy going on regarding switching off vibrations in the app.
Yeah, I figured lightflow probably wasn't directly to blame since uninstalling it didn't fix the problem. I was just really worried about having to deal with a factory reset tonight, but I'm happy now!
Thank You

Thank you for posting this issue and your fix! I was having the exact same issue as you and could not figure out what the culprit was. Downloaded Sound Manager and found out vibration were set to off
Have any of you had problems waking your GN after installing LightFlow? I installed it after seeing this thread, and I can't wake my phone and have to pull the battery.

I just had this problem for the first time... I have lightflow installed.
Just tried Sound Manager V2, and set vibration to "vibrate whenever possible". Now all is well! Disappointing that this setting does not work in Android settings though.

Can't install 3rd part sources anymore!?!

I can't install 3rd party sources all of a sudden. I can load the Install or Cancel screen. Cancel works, but it won't let me install, what could be wrong? Obviously unknown sources is check.
Edit: it seems that the UI for install is broken. I can't active device administrator apps either, can't cancel or activate. I am 100% stock rooted.

Try deactivating any screen related apps like LUX, or any screen filter apps
I agree with the previous post. I've experienced this exact issue in the past with other phones and it was frustrating until I finally figured out what was happening. I've had it happen with Lux and CF.lumen (though not with CF.lumen in quite some time). Temporarily disabling these apps should enable the install button.

S8+ reverting various settings

so my s8+ keeps reverting all developer menu settings and toggles to factory as well as not allowing some accessibility settings to be saved (ultimate rotation control for example never gets access to the accessibility settings while when i first got it, it did just fine and no app update to it)
as well as now some apps using text to speech even though both the vision settings are off and talk back is even disabled
what the hell is going on with this phone?!
unknown sources keeps reverting to off, gpu and other settings keep reverting to stock.
i know of one other who has had this issue on this forum and neither of us know whats going on.
any help would be appreciated

Ok, I'm not the only one who noticed that the setting to allow apps to be installed from unknown sources was turning itself off.
Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
Just going to toss out the obvious, but did you make sure when you allow the unknown sources, you uncheck the "only this time" box?
For 'Unknown Sources' to remain active, you need to click on the actual title 'Unknown Sources' in bold. You will then get a warning that you need to agree to. Once you do, it will remain active.
Haven't had any other issues w/ settings reverting back but you may want to try the above method and see if it helps.
I'm on ATT carrier/device and mine reverts to off also with every reboot. I didn't even notice until I read this thread, I guess I haven't been installing any apk.mirrow apps lately.
The above method did not work for me. Thanks for the heads up though to the both of you.
This phone and it's firmware hassles and issues is getting old real quick lol. We need root asap.....

Mine has this issue to with developer setting. Keep screen on during charge keep reverting to off.... wierd!
I've noticed it forgets settings, the unknown sources, the volume control for bluetooth keeps turning off on its own so I have to enable it.
I have also had it change my settings for Do Not Disturb. I stopped using DND because it is too unreliable. Using an app instead.

no...... no it will not this is the whole issue, i (and others) agree to the warning and then later after the install or update it then of it's own accord reverts to off; and since allow unknown source will NEVER toggle to on UNLESS you agree i'm not sure what you're thinking of.......
My screen time out keep reversing back to 1 minutes after inactivity, after I change to 5 minutes and come out from settings

WiFi Keeps Turning Off

Sorry if this is posted somewhere, I did search quite a bit. Anyway, my wife's z2 force WiFi Keeps turning off by itself. I set it to always stay on even, still does it. Rebooted, still there. This is a big problem because we ran through all of our data (Verizon) because we didn't know for a while. Anyone else experiencing this? Any fix? Please and thanks!

Turning off. If she turns it on while using it, it seems to stay on, but then it'll turn off and stay off until she hits the WiFi button.

None of the above. It's stock, with a few apps she likes such as Facebook and Pinterest. Nothing that would do that.
Pure speculation, as I don't own the Verizon model, take it for what it's worth...
It sounds like Verizon software is handling this. Having previously owned both ATT and Verizon devices, I know how they love slapping their seemingly helpful "data manager" apps into the stock system apps. Usually these apps can--and often will--by default handle wireless hand-off settings.
This is where I would look first. If your not rooted, I'm not sure what your options are to block this type of app, especially if it was installed as "system", but you might get lucky, and be able to freeze it or at least deny it permissions.
Again, all speculation. I'd be really interested to know if I'm close though.
Edit: You also might look into your build.prop settings. I haven't manually poked into these since honeycomb, so I won't be much help here, but I'm sure someone here can point you at the right variables inside build.prop to see if there's an "oopsie". Again, just a thought.

Question Unable to disable night light/blue light filter

So I bought Xiaomi 11T today and transferred all my apps and settings from my high previous phone Xiaomi Mi A1. The issue is that I had a schedule which enabled DND mode and Night Light mode to help against blue light at night time. Now I can't disable night light and there is a yellowish tint on the screen. I have tried turning off the schedule in settings, restarting the phone, installed Activity Launcher to no avail and everything that was posted on forums on XDA. Please help me out. This is driving me crazy. Guide me through it or remotely control the device and disable it. But please help me with this.
Try this: display -> color scheme -> adaptive colors (turn it off)
Thank you for the reply, but it got fixed in the morning automatically after the schedule ended on its time. So I wasn't able to try your method, but again, I appreciate the help.

Okay so it turns out that the settings from my previous phone are still present in my new one because today it again turned yellow at exactly 11:30 p.m. which was the schedule I had for NIGHT LIGHT on the previous phone and I'm sure it will turn off at 7 a.m.(it did yesterday). I did turn off the schedule on the new phone but it didn't help and the settings from the old one are overriding the settings on the new. And I have no idea how to turn off that setting or to remove that setting from my Google account. So could you please help me with that? As you can see, schedule is off and so is the reading mode.
Could you help me with that?
Sorry but i cant help you with that. Something that i would try if i were you is clearing data of settings app and see if it helps or not but i cant guarantee anything.

Okay so I cleared both, the data and cache of settings app, but nothing happened sadly. Tried looking through Google's settings, but still didn't find anything.
I am unable to understand that how can a setting be affective if it is not even available. Anyways, I hope someone can get me out of this. Thank you for your time.
Assuming you used mi mover to transfer your data from your old phone to your new one, there is an option to select the types of data you want to sync (eg music, videos etc) and if i recall correctly, there is also an option to sync settings or not. If you still have your old phone, you can factory reset the new one and sync data again but this time, dont sync settings. That might fix it but it involves a lot of effort and time and theres also no guarantee that issue will get fixed so its up to you.

No, I didn't use any mover or data transfer app. I just used my Google account to bring all the apps, photos and other data from my old phone. So the settings I had with the old one came, which I wanted but now that I can't turn it off or on at my will is bugging me. And I have already finished setting up my new phone and downloaded everything so factory resetting it is difficult. Also, I factory reset the old one. So there's that. I sent an email to Xiaomi support and the reply I got wasn't actually the solution. But then I sent them a bug report via their feedback settings, so hopefully they will come up with a solution and reply ASAP.
Okay, I made an account to answer your question hahaha
I've been experiencing the exact same thing as you when I move from my old android to the Poco F3, I found a solution from Reddit by installing 3rd party launcher and doing the configuration there (you can uninstall it after you finished the configuration stuff), here is the link to the Reddit post

I hope that will help you!

Dude, I really appreciate you making an account just for that. Thank you.
So I did exactly as it is written in the post, but I couldn't find the NIGHT LIGHT option in the settings of Nova Launcher Activity widget. The post and the video says "Activities" widget, but I'm sure that it got changed and is irrelevant. But as you can see in the screenshot below, the option isn't there. I don't know why there isn't an option like that. I hope I find a solution soon.
But again, thanks for the help tho.

Okay so I found the solution and was able to finally disable it. Anyone facing this issue needs to install SystemUI Tuner and from that you can disable it. When Night Light and Blue light filter overlap, stuff goes wild and this happens. So we need to disable the Night Light feature of Android.
So just install SystemUI Tuner and follow the instructions if you device is rooted, and if it is not, you need to do some stuff with ADB, and instructions to those are also mentioned in the app. After you are done with that and are able to run the app, just search "Night Light" in the app and disable it. If it is already disabled, enable it and disable it manually.
