[Q] Looking to try out kitkat :D - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all im looking at manually updating to kitkat and my problem is im not sure how tricky that will be as my last run in with odin was a bad one..
well not odin, but 3 months after rooting my first note 2 it died from sds. Samsung replaced it which took forever - my original one was a french model. The replacement i now have is the hong kong one.
GT-N7100
And. V: 4.3
CSC: N7100ZSENE1
PDA: N7100ZSUENE1
I know its most recent version is 4.3, but seeing friends with n7105's and kit kat is just driving me nuts!
Anyywhoo upgrading to 4.4.2--
Will it be a straightforward procedure?
And am i likely to have problems with KitKat and my particular model?
Pros cons?
Sorry for being noobish >.<

Since you are already on 4.3 you cannot go back to 4.1.2 cause of being on the Knoxed bootloader which makes downgrading impossible (only 4.2.2 is possible).Well you got few choices when it comes to trying out 4.4 either you can flash stock ROM which is rolling out slowly to many countries or you can try the custom KK. So root your 4.3 if you don't want to upgrade to stock 4.4 and then flash any one of the custom 4.4 which comes in variety of flavours such as stock note 2 KK , note 2 and note 3 featured ROM or S5/note3/note2 featured ROM.You would have to try few custom ROM to see which best suits you.No one will be able to tell you which ROM is best since each custom ROM offers different tweaks.
To download stock ROM head over in General Note II section and there's a download link for FNE1 KK French version uploaded to mega.co.nz by an user called "robalm" .Download the zip file , extract it , you'll get the .tar.md5 , put the phone in download mode and place that extracted file into AP/PDA Mode of odin and sit back and let it do it's thing.

[Q] Stock firmware 4.1.2

Hey guys
Firstly I would like to say a huge hello to all on the forum, browsed around for a while and then joined up :good:
I have a n7100 uk unbranded note 2 that after upgrading to omega 19 4.3 which I didn't like Im trying to downgrade to 4.1.2 and then reflash omega 18 as I cannot roll back to 18,
I wondered if this is the correct way as it the moment its stuck on the boot screen and when I attempt to wipe the internal sd card the phone reboots and again sticks?
Im struggling to find the stock firmware and wondered if anyone can point me in the right direction.
Thanks in advance
I think it is not posible to downgrade from 4.3 to 4.1.2 because of changes in bootlader in MK4 version.

He is using Omega, which is a custom ROM, I believe. It should most probably my Knox-free. Of course, If u flashed a ROM that relies on Knox, too bad, you're out of options.
Smack that thanks button if I helped.

How can I use international roms on t-mobile note 3?

I'm using my T-mobile Jump tomorrow to get a Note 3. Of course, the first thing I'm going to do is: open the box, plug the phone in, then root it. I don't know much about this phone since I have been using an HTC One running Cyanogen Mod. So, My question is, what's the best way to unlock the Note 3's full potential? I.e: I see many root solutions, which do you prefer and why? By rooting and installing custom recovery (TWRP, CWM, ect), am I able to use ROMS on the International Samsung Galaxy Note 3 forums, or am I limited to T-Mobile only offerings? I wouldn't consider myself a NOOB, or a Dev, just an enthusiast who wants to help other enthusiasts, please leave your advice and experiences below.

First thing you need to do is to learn about KNOX, there are dozens of threads related to KNOX so
it's easy to find.
If your new phone is a NOTE 3 and you don't read up on the KNOX issue but simply go and root the
phone your warranty might be void afterwards.
You need to read up on the official 4.3 rom & the MK2 baseband which all new NOTE 3 phones have
before you root or flash any cwm/twrp flashable zip files including roms and kernels.
Once you decide what to do about the KNOX and still want to root your phone and flash custom roms
I would highly suggest to only flash roms in the Tmobile Note 3 forum, & only flash those roms which
are based on Tmobile 4.3 Jellybean Touchwiz firmwares.
Flashing any other roms will result in loosing the ability to use free tmobile wifi calling as well as loosing
most all of the bells and whistle which makes the NOTE 3 such a great phone.
In my experience with custom roms, the Wicked & Darthstalker roms are the only 2 that I would even consider flashing.
Do a lot of reading before you decide or do anything.
Good luck!
Vision X will work just fine, give it a look see also....

You can flash N9005 on your n900T. I used TWRP to flash Xnote Rom Bobcat Rom and Pro Bam rom. Also i flashed knoraid rom(AT&T) jus make sure you flash a t-mobile kernel.

Yes, I flashed the Bobcat 3.0 rom too, and it looks like a Million Dollars, best LOOKING rom I have
ever seen... BUT unless the dev who created it can get himself a N900T Tmobile Note 3 phone to
test with, we will never have wifi calling if we flash the Bobcat International Note 3 rom.
I flashed it a few hours ago and am still debating with myself if I want to keep it or not. LOL
Hello!
I have a SM-N900T Baseband N900TUVUBMI7. But unfortunately, there is no Russian System language (not possible to enable it through the setting.)
I live in Russia, in this regard, I have a couple of questions:
1. Does the Russian language in international ROM?
2. What ROM you can recommend with support Russian system language and the maximum cut off apps from T-mobile and ather (consist only samsung apps)?
This "abundance" is useless for me.
I would be very grateful for the link to the thread of this ROM.
P.S.Sorry for the poor english.
Can i Flash 4.4.2 Leaked for SM-N9005 on SM-N900T?.
Hi, can i flash roms for sm-n9005 on my t-mobile note 3?? specially the leaked 4.4.2 kit kat? Thank you.

Here is the direct download link for Bobcatrom v3 EVO rom:

After flashing this rom on a N900T Galaxy Note 3 phone you will not have
Wifi, Bluetooth or NFC until you flash this wifi-bluetooth-nfc-FIX.zip file.
So you need to flash the rom first, set it all up so it's working properly then
go back into cwm/twrp custom recovery and flash the fix file below:
http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/...en900T/Needed_Files_BT_WIFI_NFC_Flashable.zip
After you flash the fix file, wifi, bluetooth and nfc will all work fine.
Good luck!

Sure you can, you can flash the 4.4.2 kitkat but don't expect everything to work properly,
especially wifi, data and many other things in it still need fixing.
That's why it's called a "leak"..
Good luck!
Does N900T have Russian language as a system language? I intend to root the phone and install Language Enabler from the market. The app reveals hidden languages but before I proceed I'd like to make sure that the phone does have Russian (hidden in it).
Thank you.
Hi, I have similar problem as escudovod1972. Live in the UK and have the T-mobile version (SM-N900T) of the note 3. Would like to have Russian and Lithuanian languages but keep the phone as close to stock as possible.
Was wondering if I could achieve this, by flashing one of these:
"International SM-N9005 Galaxy Note 3 Stock Firmware"
Will I need to flash a T-Mobile kernel separately?
Also if this works, will I loose any functionality?
Any advice would be appreciated
Thanks

You can flash a unified rom aka hlte (more info: http://www.cyanogenmod.org/blog/unified-builds) like cyanogen, carbon rom(using this on my N3 Tmobile in UK just now), AOKP and many more(safe to say that all have Russian), if you like the AOSP/AOKP look. Or go for X-note or other touch wiz based unified roms.
Anyways, take a look here for more info and rom lists: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3#romList
Hope this helps

I try all the roms, before posting them, make a backup then flash the rom,,, N9005XXUENE3_hlte_Stock_Odex_Not_Rooted_NoKnox.zip
I would not advise flashing the firmware... your rooted, its safer just flashing the rom...
I just made a UK rom earlier today, using this one, I was using Singapore for the past 3 or 4 days... I like using the newest rom...

Not everyone is looking at YOUR question. Have some respect/patience. There are threads guiding how to flash a different firmware version all over the net using Odin, in the hour you waited for a response, you could have easily used Google to find your solution.
Now you may have an issue about Knox, but since you are going from 4.4 to 4.3 (both a knox bootloader) i don't think there will be any issues.
If you have a custom recovery, just flash a 4.3 ROM
If not, use Odin to flash the 4.3 official firmware package.
With the information i provided you, you should easily be able to achieve what you need to do via Google search.

Are you sure the 4.4 to 4.3 thing works? I've been using 4.2 on my S4 (I9500) all along, and recently upgraded to 4.4. I strongly dislike KitKat and would ideally like to go back to 4.2, but if there's no way of doing so, 4.3 would be fine.

I have not tried it myself. It was just speculation since they are both knox bootloaders. The worst that will happen is Odin will say it failed OR your Knox will be tripped (which i see highly unlikely as knox detects changes from what "should" be there)

Thanks for the help. There were some people who said that it's impossible to go back to 4.2.2 from 4.4.2 and some that said you can't even go back to 4.3, but then others that said it is possible. I tried a number of different ROMs and they didn't boot at all. Then I tried Omega ROM v14.1 (Android 4.2.2), and that works brilliantly now.
Here's the thread for it from this forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2232887. Only seems to be for Samsung Galaxy devices at this point.
It is an unbloated TW ROM (actually allows you to choose which Google and Samsung apps to install during a custom install process that begins when you flash it). It's faster than all my previous versions of Android, and obviously takes up less space.
Annoying that not everything works and that it took such a long time to get a successful installation, but at least I've found a ROM that has what I was looking for.

Yup but that is a custom ROM and with proper recovery you can go down to 4.2.2 but when we speak of Stock Samy Firmware and Odin it is imposible i have tested it. And Omega is great but still Custom hehehehe

Oh yeah, I became aware of that very early on during my search. All the ROMs I've been trying to get working have been custom and Omega is the only one that's actually booted.
I'm just glad I found something that looks like my old TW 4.2.2. Don't really mind whether or not it's custom. It is a shame that you can't go back to older official Samsung firmware once you've updated though. What do you think the reason for that is?

[Q] Safe Procedure to Downgrade from 4.4.2 to 4.1.2

Hello all XDA members especially in our beloved Note 2 community :good:
I've owned my Note 2 since it's first launch.. I'm satisfied and proud to have one of the best phone ever made from Samsung. :good:
I have questions related to downgrading process, just want to confirm the process coz I don't want to brick my Note 2.
My mighty Note 2 is on Omega V.28, 4.4.2 Android Version with MJ5 bootloader and latest TWRP. I want to downgrade to 4.1.2 as I missed the 4.1.2 balance among performance and battery life.
My question are :
1. Can I just flash Omega V.18 (4.1.2) or the others 4.1.2 custom rom (not interested in stock rom ) directly from TWRP ?
2. Won't that procedure brick my phone ?
3. Will I lost my imei and signal ?
4. Can I flash existing modem to fix lost imei (XXUENA) ? Will it compatible with 4.1.2 (Omega V.18) ?
Thanks all for the answer an comments.. :good:
Cheers for Note 2

As long as you are on MJ5 bootloader you can flash 4.1.2 custom ROM via custom recovery. If you lose signal flash any of the modems either from hurricane modem changer or your current one if you have a flashable zip file for that.
