[Q] New Firmware for Xperia M 1905 without solving storrage problem? - Sony Xperia M

Hello Everybody.
The new firmware (Android 4.3 - firmware 15.4.A.1.9) is still not able to move apps and other data to externel SDcard, isn´t it?
So I have to change the whole system on the Xperia M into antotherone which provides this function?
Which one would this be?
Thank you very much.

A bold and noble question, deserving of being in the Q&A forum and not the General forum.
Start out with Link2SD Plus as you've not define any gaming requirements in your question.
I have 73 Google Play apps installed and 1.75GB free on internal storage.
The paid 'plus' version of Link2SD allows app data to be moved to an external partition on the SDcard. Also if using an external partition don't skimp on using a quality SDcard with at least 40MBytes read access.
Link2SD won't help installing the likes of games like Modern Combat 4 and etc in which case you need another solution.
Update - Oh, the above assumes you have root access on your phone. [emoji6]

My girlfriend bought this handy with an 32gb external SDcard.
With her old handy Sony-Ericsson Live (Android 2.3) she was able to move apps etc. on the external SDcard and never had problems with space.
She would like to have this function on her Xperia M.
Link2SD, Foldermount etc. are not working proberly or beeing to complicated for her.
I thought with this new update the Xperia will have this function because a lot of users complaint about this problem.
Sorry about asking this question in the wrong area.

Ah, German. [emoji3] re: handy
They stopped providing default move data/app to SDcard circa Android 4.1
You'd need to buy a phone with at least 4gb+ of internal flash such as Xperia L if you want a turn key solution.
There are many how-to tutorials on installing and setting up Link2SD and once setup, it looks after itself. It'll automatically move data to SDcard if app allows it or can be manually linked.
No solutions by default to move data to SDcard on the Xperia M.
You'll need root access and a system mod/application to do that.
In settings ->storage there is an option to move pics , music and videos to SDcard, but it's just a cleanup to recover space.
Camera also has option to store photos on SDcard

Hey.
Yes German. I´m sorry. Mobile phone .
The option on the camera to store the pics on SD is set and the option to move pics vids ore music on SD shows 0 files.
Ok, no default solution for Xperia M. But other mobile phones/androids are supporting this function further on?
Now I have to check up the possibilities to get this function. Link2SD, App2SD or Swapping the SDcard with internal space?
I don´t know which would be the best way...

Sony does have the option to use the external SD as primary storage in Android 4.3, they just chose not to at this time. KK 4.4 has another approach to storage location again.
I have no idea if there'll be further fw updates for the Xperia M.
I would suggest root access for the handy first and then Link2SD unless your requirements dictate other requirements.
If using the SD card as external storage and the card is not a class10 or better, I'd consider a new 32GB card (e.g. 32GB SanDisk Extreme 45MB read)

Hello and thanks a lot for your advice.
The Swapping Tool sounds interessting.
How get i started?
Downloading the .zip, extract it...?
adb and drivers means, the Sony Companion is running and detecting the mobile phone?
To root the handy i use Framaroot, is that ok?
What I have to do else bevor running the install.bat?
Thank you very much for your support.

any possibly way to install apps directly to extSdCard ??

hey guys .. can anyone help me to find a way to let my samsung install aps directly to extSdCard ? cuz my internal memory is getting full !!
i tried many applications that move s applications from a memoy to another but it dint work with me </3
so .. please if there is anyway to do that .. HELP!!
I've heard that in older phones you could use an ext3 partition on your sd card in addition to the normal fat32 partition, and then use link2sd to move parts of apps to the ext3 partition, but I haven't heard of anyone doing it with an s3. Search around for link2sd and try it out if you want/can. I've been considering testing it with an extra card I have, just haven't gotten around to it.

You must have the 16gb version? Exactly why I got the 32gb, you can't choose where to install or move apps like you used to be able to do. I do hope they come out with a workaround though for all the 16gb'ers. The whole "but it has a microSD slot" deal is BS since you can really only use it for camera, music, and video file storage.
Move big apps to external SD. Search on directorybind in these forums.

[Q] Annoying Memory Issue on worlds Best phone.

Hi there,

What I want to know is that:-
1.I found out that I cannot have games more than the devices memory as internal memory gets full and I have to delete some game every time when i am installing a new one, the more pain is that in this thing i also have to lose my all saved data.
2. Cant receive files to SD card when ever internal memory is full, although i have 32 gb ext card totally free, It's very heartbreaking to face this issue on a best phone.
Please tell me the best possible solution to these to issues. I'll be very thankfull to you all.

Unfortunately for you rooting is the only solution if you want to move apps or install them on your external memory directly. Just in case you decide to finally root your phone you can use apps like directorybind or apps2sd... They work perfectly fine as long as you follow exact instructions.

Hi bushako,thanks for helping.
kindly let me know if i root, am I i able to retain my saved game data also? and if i want to play the same game after deleting it can i get the same working with saves?
also let me know other best apps for this whole thing.
Yes rooting will not format or erase your apps/saved games. It's just a matter of letting certain apps have access to your root directory which by default is disabled, there are many threads on instructions on safely rooting your phone. As for retaining the saved game after deleting the app I'm not sure but I think the only way is to manually access the files where the saved games are stored and backing them up. Another method I would choose is by using Titanium Backup app, but it will require rooting. It will allow you to backup all or individual games onto the external sd card including there data. So that you can restore the game with the saved data anytime in the future.
Sent from the Rabbit Hole
Best thing is to root and use the mod to switch your internal sd and external sd... so the phone reads your 32gb ext sd card as internal and installs all your games on it with the data

Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
@ KyleDevlin12....dont use that stupid apps2sd..it doesnt work dude....the best and ONLY solution is use directory bind...soo easy to use...in 3 steps your games are in your external memory...Or another method...if you want to use the mod which change the external into internal memory ...than u have to buy a 64 gb sd card..otherwise it isnt worth to use this mod.
So from my own experience ....Directory bind is the king in this case.
hope i helped you out.
Best Regards.
Not quoting many post, just to add
-Root device
-Root won't erase anything (though always prefer backup), even rooting only can backup game level etc.
-Directory bind i recommend. This also survice your data while factory reset. Read This

[Q] problem with OALD data

hello
I m using sony xperia m dual full rooted. my problem is with oxford advanced learner's dictionary data. this dictionary contain 1 gb sd data. as u all know this much data not possible in xperia m. so I used gl2sd for moving data into sd card. but gl2sd, folder mount showing 0 kb data for this app. actually this app contains a folder oxford where all data fixed.
now plz help me how to move this data into sd card
thanks
For gl2sd work you'll need root and there isn't any root method available in the 4.3 firmware other than unlocking your bootloader and losing your warranty and functionality of some Sony proprietary apps...

External Internal SD

Sorry for my English.
Is there any solution to install apps on the external SD card, not move, but install everything to the external SD card.
As in this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development/mod-extsd2internalsd-v8increase-data-t1772234
Thank you all, I will use the translator, do not worry if they respond in English.
That seems to be for the international version of the galaxy s3 only. I've only read through the first few pages but he OP seems to be willing to help with other devices if you test for him. Post over there and see what he has to say. This has been an issue for a very long time and has been made even worse with the new restrictions permitting only gapps and some manufacturer apps write access to the sd cards that we purchased. At least there's a fairly easy way around the write problem, but installing to external sd is another matter altogether.
Might want to take a look at Xposed Framework. I think I saw a module in there to accomplish this. Root required.

I've looked for a solution to this question since I got the 8.4 a few weeks ago. To my knowledge nothing is available. With my Note 2 I used to use an app (root required) called GL to SD. It's still on the Play store, but it's just too inconsistent to rely upon. When it works, it's a great app but it just doesn't do so consistently.

Seems same problem as s duos! I wouldn't try this if I were you! I hate Samsung sometimes due to this reason... Try recovery script method... But this slows down your device.....
You can use an App like Foldermount (root) to trick folders location.
So your OBB or Android data directories can be mounted to the ext SD card.
From then, anything installed will be on the SDcard.

Another option might be to swap the internal and external sd cards. There are several links if you google it. Some work and some don't, so be careful. There is also this app in the Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.codlab.int2ext

Low Internal Memory Problem RESOLVED

Guys, In this post I am discussing certain important issues of our T2 Ultra and the ways to work around those issues.
After updating to Kitkat firmware, the ability for third party apps to write to our External SD cards was lost, like not able to download movies through torrents directly to our External SD card.
Secondly, the Move to SD card option made availaible by Sony is nothing similar to what we all think. It DOES NOT transfer major portion of the data to our External SD cards, rather a tiny fragment, which is safe to say, is not like moving it anywhere at all.
Thirdly, the RAM, as specified in numerous reviews and websites, our phone DOES NOT have 1GB RAM. It has 856MB to be exact. Thats an entire 140+ MB less. This has its effects on multi tasking, as u might have observed, while returning to the home screen after using some apps, it takes time for the screen to load apps onto it.
All these are serious problems, considering we paid a decent price for this phone and didnt get what we exactly needed.
Luckily, there is a work around.
First thing, u have to ROOT your phone. If u just search around the this forum, ul find plenty ways to do it.
To solve the problem of not being able to write to External SD cards in-app, u have to download 'Nextapp sdfix' from google playstore. Once downloaded, u can follow the instructions and the issue gets resolved. Its 100% working.
Now to solve the issue of moving apps to External SD card, u have to download 'Folder Mount' app from playstore. Once done, u can easily mount the folders of ur heavy apps like games onto ur External SD card, and it clears space on your Internal SD card. It works very well.
Lastly, to solve the RAM issue, ofcourse we cant increase the RAM by any way but we can smartly clear off the unwanted apps running in the background and gain most of the RAM.
'Fast Reboot' app does just that! Small app with big function, just download it from the playstore, it will put a green icon on ur homescreen, and all u have to do is to just click on it! Simple. It clears out all the RAM and u can directly notice the difference! It gives me 300+ RAM free everytime after using it.
Thats it guys, all your RAM and Internal memory storage problems should get resolved by this.
Hit thanks if helped.

All good to know.
Even though I installed an external micro sd card, I am unable to install the new apps you specify.
1 I guess I have to uninstall some apps, to make room
2 Install the apps you specify
3 Move some apps out to the sd card
4 reinstall the apps I deleted
I guess I will figure it out
but thanks again for the good information:good:
