[Q] HTC ONE M8 + Windows 7 64bit Enterprise usb drivers - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi There,
HTC ONE M8 Usb is not recognized under windows 7 64-bit enterprise.
tried drivers from HTC sync and tried stand alone drivers.
On a different pc 32bit running windows ultimate it works immidiatly as well as on a VMWARE machine.
any advice please?
Thank you!!!

anyone?!

The latest version of HTC sync drivers should work. However you will have problems with 3rd party drivers on 64bit systems as they are generally not signed and Windows 64 bit will not allow use of these drivers unless you disabled driver signing enforcement
http://sabrent.com/support/knowledgebase.php?article=14

unfortunatly that didnt do any change.
whatever i do windows does not except the driver. I plug in the phone and immidatly it shows with a exclamation mark in the device manager.
tried different ports and different cable, i uninstalled any previous smartphone drivers and software, although it works just fine with another computer running windows 7 (32bit).
any hint on how to troubleshoot?
thank you!!

Solved!
solved by using 3rd party software (wierrrd)
1. install moborobo http://www.moborobo.com/
2. plug the phone with "Usb debugging" ON
3. Accept the "not signed" driver warning
4. It will now automatically install the driver succesfully after which you can uninstall moborobo and the drivers will still work

Worked fine for me when I installed it on my work laptop running the same version of Win 7. I've got admin rights but explicitly ran the downloaded file as administrator and once I had connection confirmed, I deleted the synch manager portion of the installation (hey, great idea - let's make people download and install 130Meg of files just to get Windows device drivers... NOT)

i actually found another way to work with this...
search google for windows xp mode. it will take you to the microsoft website and it will download a pc virtualizer with xp built in. the software is windows xp 32 bit. i just unlocked my bootloader using this and it works great

[Q] USB tethering and win7 pro

I am using windows 7 pro x64 and my computer cannot install the driver when I check USB tethering on the OTA.
I know it is not my phone since my linux machine works fine with usb tethering.
However on my windows machine, it fails to install right away and my device manager has a "Android phone" that is not installed.
Is there something I am missing on my windows machine to not let it finish installing? If I remember correctly on my old setup it would install the NDIS remote driver, but that doesn't happen for me.
Any suggestions?
EDIT : Just tried roommate's computer which is also win7 pro x64 and it failed as well. Is windows 7 pro missing this NDIS driver? If so does anyone know a solution?
The link below is to PDAnet's download page. Just pick the one for you and it'll install the drivers.
If you don't know the bit size to your computer click start, right click my computer, properties, and it should say there.
The problem isnt PDAnet, I prefer not to use a 3rd party software when I can use the native 2.2 usb tethering. The problem is windows 7 pro not detecting the NDIS server driver. I confirmed it working for linux but I do not have a computer around me that uses other versions of Windows 7 besides pro
EDIT: Just tried my G1 on cm 6.1 and it found the NDIS driver for the G1.
Hmmm I'm running out of ideas, Ill try and find someone with windows 7 home or ultimate

You don't have to use pda net, it just has the drivers you need in the software. Once you install pdanet, the drivers will allow win7 to recognize your phone. then you can uninstall pdanet. I had to do the same thing.

Thanks. I've been trying to tell people this over and over. No one listens.
Installed pdanet on my computer, which it also installed onto my phone but no luck. It still fails the driver install when i check usb tethering.
It did however install PDAnet's own "network driver", but device manager still sees "Android phone" as an unknown device when i check usb tethering. Not to be confused with the adb driver which I have already have up and running
I still have not had a chance to try another operating system besides linux :/

[Q] ADB with Windows XP 64 Bit

I have been searching for several hours, and I am absolutely unable to get ADB to recognize my phone using Windows XP 64 bit. I have uninstalled and re-installed the Unrevoked modified drivers several times to no avail. All I get is "Error: Device Not Found". Does anyone know a trick to getting ADB working on XP 64? I appreciate any and all help.
Thanks!
EVO HW 0003
HBOOT 2.10
MIKFROYO 4.4
Make sure the rom your using has adb functionality included/enabled in the rom.
And make sure usb debugging is enabled under settings/applications
Swyped from a galaxy far far away......
I have connected to the same phone with another computer. All settings are confirmed correct on the phone itself.
I know a trick, but I haven't tried it with the Evo or XP! I bet it works though. I used it to get my hero working with win7 last march, and it worked great.
install PDAnet.
It is a tethering program and has the ADB drivers, should set them up for you.
Also installing HTC sync is supposed to get the drivers working.
Thanks I will give that a shot and report back.
PDANet didn't work but I found an HTC driver for 64 bit windows 7 that did the trick.
Thanks for your help.
Windows sucks and 64 bit XP is a pain in the ass. You need a usb driver or linux.

can u post the driver.?
Here it is. Be sure to uninstall any other drivers. I used USBDeview to uninstall the old drivers. Extract this zip and use the driver inside for Android 1.0 when prompted. It will not show up as Android ADB in Device Manager (showed up as My HTC Phone or something on mine) but ADB connected immediately once I installed this driver.
I doubt that it will work
Works for me!
Been looking at this for two hours now...
Running 64-bit XP - Installed the drivers manually by connecting the device, then selecting not now.... navigated to the drivers, installed BOTH .ini files - not sure if was really two different drivers or not - restarted, reconnected and device showed up.
The name my device function says "Desire" but it seems to work so far (only one sync)

Why HTC Sync Manager is not working in WINDOWS 8????????

Hi Guys,
I have installed Windows 8 Release Preview on my laptop as my primary OS and I have installed HTC Sync Manager, but for some reason it seems to not recognize it... Then later it will recognize and try to set up but nothing happens after that!!
Anybody has found a resolution to this issue???? Please let me know.
maybe nobody has released drivers yet

But it is supposed to work when you install it in "Compatibility Mode" set to Windows 7 right? I mean both are just the same operating systems with 8 having some modifications.
no, they're 2 different OS and they need different drivers for working... some drivers working on both, other nope.
Hmmm.... Anyways thanks a lot for the response.

Compatibility mode force your OS to run the application with windows 7 frameworks and dlls, not the drivers, so any application that needs hardware drivers won't work on 8... And of course since it is still a beta version (RC actually) and not released yet, nobody at HTC cares about the drivers
Thats too bad.... Wanted the Sync software so that I can take a backup of everything on the phone...
Same problem I had when tried to root the phone over on Windows 8. It failed and I had to revert to W7 just for rooting.
It still fails for me

My phone shows connecting, then disconnected. HTC sync thinks it started to sync, but just hangs. Windows 8 was released to manufacturing months ago. I wish HTC would fix this.
Has anyone been able to sync the One X to HTC sync on Windows 8 x64?
Works fine here, WIndows 8 64-bit, installed normally and it worked

It still doesn't work for me. I uninstalled everything HTC or Android (HTC Sync, HTC Driver, HTC BMP, Android SDK), rebooted, and reinstalled everything. Then when I plugged in my phone and selected HTC Sync Manager it tries to connect and never connects. I noticed an unknown Android device in device manager. I updated the driver for that device using information I've seen in other threads. Now the device shows up as HTC Sync when the phone is plugged in, but the HTC Sync application never seems to know my phone is connected.
Just wait for HTC to release a new version which is confirmed to work on Windows 8

Are you using USB 3 or USB 2? I have been working with my One X on Windows 8 tonight and it will not work using USB 3 but will work fine with USB 2 ports.

I've tried on both USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports with the same result. The HTC sync device appears in Device Manager, the phone says trying to connect to HTC sync, but HTC Sync shows nothing at all.
Its like there is something new in Windows 8 that is connecting the device to some other application.
Same problem

I've had the same problem. When I then installed Wondershare Moble Go it seemed to install the proper drivers, and HTC Synch did "see" my device. However, during the synch, it would stop half way, and I had to force the program to close. There have been several other issues with Windows 8, but this was one of the problems that made me reimage my computer back to Windows 7. I'm sure there will be lots of bugs, but like every other version of Windows, Microsoft issues a defective product and waits for us to report all the bugs. In a sense, we pay THEM to be beta testers.

Actually, Windows 8 beta builds have been available for nearly a year. HTC should have been testing HTC Sync with Windows 8 months ago and released an updated version by now. In fact, if they had written it correctly in the first place, it wouldn't have this issue. I have hundreds of other programs that didn't have any issues with Windows 8. Windows 8 uses the same driver model as Windows 7. the only difference for drivers is that Windows 7 would prompt to install and unsigned driver and Windows 8 won't install unsighned drivers at all unless you boot with advanced options and tell it to allow the installation of unsigned drivers. I don't know what HTC is doing, but the driver doesn't automatically install, but I can install it manually. Even with the driver installed, it doesn't connect.
I have been running Windows 8 for many months and there are very few programs that don't work correctly. Unfortunately, HTC Sync is one of the two programs I cannot seem to get to work.
HTC Sync Manager Windows 8
Hi, I tried to install Sync Manager on my W8 os. I could not even accept the terms & conditions. I then phoned the international customer care line speaking to INNA. I also replied to HTC's email and received a reply from JAMES whereby BOTH replied that HTC Sync Manager is not compatible with Windows 8 and both suggested I use Windows XP or 7.
Needless to say that it cannot be acceptable for any manufacturer to offer such a solution or reply.
I then opened Mozilla Firefox browser instead of Windows Explorer, HTC.com, Sync Manager and was able to download the program with no hassle.
I then run the program on my Windows 8 and it worked perfect.
I would suggest HTC train, replace or appoint innovative support staff that know what they do and that do justice to their wonderful products.
Hope this help those who battle with Sync & W8.
Everybody berates Microsoft, but the effort the put into compatibility is beyond the call of duty.

[Q] Device not recognized by Windows 8.1

Hi!
I have a very annoying problem. My HTC M8 is not recognized by my new Windows 8.1 Professional System.
If I connect the phone to my PC Windows plays the "new device" sound but nothing more happens. Neither in normal MTP-Mode nor in the USB debugging mode. I checked out the Windows device manager but the phone is not listed.
First I thought that it might be a problem with the Android Revolution HD 7.0 ROM, but the phone works on my notebook (Windows 7) without installing any special drivers. And my old Samsung Galaxy Nexus works with Windows 8.1.
I installed the HTC Sync Manager... didn't help.
I installed the HTC Driver package... didn't help.
I installed the Universal ADB Driver... didn't help either.
Then I tried different USB ports.. nothing

I had the same issue and I believe it's because the Samsung Gnex drivers are still on your computer. Use Wugfresh's Nexus Root Toolkit to completely uninstall all drivers related to the Gnex, restart, and then plugin the M8. Windows will most likely install all the necessary drivers automatically.
No, it's still not working. I removed ALL Samsung and HTC driver (with uninstaller and USBDeview), restarted my PC and plugged in my HTC. Windows plays the sound and USBDeview shows three new HTC devices with the assigned drive letters F: and L:. But the drives are not assigned and ADB cannot find the M8.
Ok, now it's getting strange.
I reinstalled the HTC driver again from the hasoon2000 website. And now, my M8 appears
under the available storage devices. But only when I disable the USB debugging! If debugging is enabled still nothing happens! :crying:
As a last try I have installed the "Universal ADB driver" again... didn't change anything.
I really don't know what's going wrong.
The M8 works on my Win7 notebook, my Win7 PC at work and it worked well on my develop PC (in a peaceful coexistence with my Samsung Galaxy Nexus), before I installed Windows8.1 (fresh install, no upgrade!) :crying:

Hi Guys!
I have the same problem with my HTC One M8 - can't connect it to my computer with windows 8.1
I've already disabled windows driver signature enforcement in advanced pc settings.
Please tell me how to then install that downloaded drivers via device manager.
When I try to update the driver and select the path to that driver, I receive a message : the best driver is already installed.
Please help me!
Thank you!

Drivers with Windows 10

Hello guys,
I recently upgraded to Windows 10 and I got the surprise that my computer doesn´t recognize my HTC ONE M8.
I installed HTC Sync for get the lastest drivers but it didn´t help. On Windows I go to device manager and it seems it recognize an "Android device" but with a little exclamation that says that there is no drivers for this device.
Anybody had the same problem? How did you fix it?
Thanks in advance and sorry for my poor english.
Regards.
Did you also have this problem on Windows 8.1?
I had the same driver issue when I was running Win 8.1 Pro. I couldn't get the phone to be recognized.
What I ended up doing is downgrade (or should I say upgrade?) to windows 7. All is well now.
If you keep windows 10, you may have to wait until HTC updates their drivers for the new OS. I'm not familiar with any other solution at the moment.

Actually I installed on my new computer Windows 8.1 Pro edition and I think I´ve never connected my phone to this computer so I cannot tell you if it was working on Windows 8.1.
I think I´ll wait until other pal put a solution.
Thanks
It works with 8.1, but connection can be really sketchy. Connects and disconnects rapidly, but eventually connects.

Mine works fine in Win10. Are you an admin or regular user?
Same here, no issues at all on a clean win10 install
No issues here with windows 10, 64bit.

Did you do a clean install or just upgraded from a previous version?
Did you install HTC Sync for get the drivers or you installed from other site?
I may have had HTC Sync on before - don't recall. This copy of Win10 was an upgrade install from Windows 7.

Follow that link, and download the file
1. Disable Windows driver signature (option 7 from advanced options)
2. Connect phone to PC
3. Go to device manager, you can find it through cmd prompt or cortana
4. Once in device manager, locate anything that says android usb or something like that ( I cant remember)
5. Update the device driver by looking through your computer for the location of ^ above download zip
I have no tried this yet, but I dont see why it wont work...PM me if you have questions
Edit:
I just did all of what I described above, and TBH I'm not sure if it would work or not. I do not currently have ADB SDK installed on my laptop, but I have found what appears to be a sound-proof method. Im going to assume the reason you want that connection is because you plan on using adb ? Anyhow, here's the link:
http://forums.team-nocturnal.com/index.php?/topic/1362-how-to-adb-fastboot-in-windows-xp-7-81-10/
In the second post of the link ^, it has been shown to work with HTC devices, hope this helps: let us know & I can dig deeper...
