Why all jelly bean ROMs consume a lot of RAM - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi ! Everyone I have tested almost every jelly bean ROMs which are stable but all time I see that all ROMs are consuming a very large amount of RAM about 260 to 280 mb and free only 80 to 60 mb hardly plz tell me why this thing happens again and again . I have also tried AOSB 1.2.9 , CM11 alpha 3 and cyankat , purekat . they don't consume that much RAM. If there any thing wrong with my device plz tell me !

Using 40mb (3.9% of 1gb) of ram is impossible? Is this the 80s?
There's something running hidden of you only have that much free RAM bro. 40MB is nothing.

I agree, doesn't seem too bad. It also depends if you've been viewing a lot of images and what it has stored up in memory.

Though it seems like 40MB of RAM isn't an issue.

680MB or 685MB free RAM??

I read conflicting reports that the Jelly Bean updates comes with 685MB free RAM. I also heard of users having 680MB. Personally, I have only 680MB free. What's yours and any idea for the differences?

Of course usable RAM differs in time.
This is usually because GPU and some other stuff use part of the RAM to run.
I have 686mb

Me to... 686Mb...

it could be a bug, i have had 716mb at one point, (ics and jb, ill try to replicate for a screenshot)
200mb =gpu
685=system
139=hardware (drivers blah)
i have 686mb at the moment, i think xs, xas (sl) all have 1gb of ram
Thanks for the input. For some odd reasons, I can only hit maximum 680MB. Locked bootloader.

Yes, I used the stable Version CM 9.1.0 for a very long time now I only had one bug:
I hade somtimes no IMEI after bootup, then I just had to reboot.
I don't know if this was a bug of my installation or of the rom.
This bug is gone since I made an update to Paranoid Android 4.6. Else there were no bugs.
I just had the feeling, that it drain more battery in standby then my current PA 4.6
