Hi guys! Here comes the first custom kernel in xda for L-preview
I'm presenting my personal kernel Code_Blue, that started as an addon for Purity ROM, called Purified Kernel.
Some of you that know me from other Nexus devices asked me to bring back the project, so I (finally) did.
My releases are Dragon_Shield powered and I'm going to share them with you.
All I want is full smoothness, performance and battery on my hammerhead, so I build always with Linaro optimized Cortex A15 toolchains.
This time I aim for a "stockish" feel lean build and for stability purposes I will stay with GCC 4.9.2 for now.
Code is based of android-msm-hammerhead-3.4-l-preview, forked from android/kernel_msm.
Useful and powerful picks are mandatory
Be sure to join Code_Blue users G+ community
You keep the spirit alive!
Kernel features:
Build on Ubuntu 14.04.1 x86_64 (Dragon_Shield VPS @ www.servercore.com.br - thanks @ChristianLetti)
Build with toolchains 2014.09 Linaro Cortex-A15 GCC 4.9.2 by @Christopher83
Full -Ofast+graphite support with device and target flags enhanced, linaro build improvements, etc
Based on android-msm-hammerhead-3.4-l-preview + own commits & cherry-picks on demand from several top devs, code aurora, linaro...

Voltage Control UV_mV_table by @franciscofranco (UV down to 700mV possible)
Enhanced TCP methods (westwood is default)
Network and Wifi tweaks
Several I/O control (FIOPS is default)
Removed stock mpdecision and thermald
blu_plug: Dynamic hotplug for hammerhead (based in dyn_hotplug from @stratosk), with screenoff battery saving (max_freq 1190400 @ max dual core)
powersaver_mode available (switch usefull on light tasks, set max_freq 1728 MHz @ single core)
L msm_thermal by @franciscofranco
Optimized RWSEM, AES and SHA1 routines
Vibrator Strength tunable (60% default)

CDROM emulation added to mass_storage (Drive Droid compatible)
Kexec (multirom) full support by @Tasssadar
Faux Sound Control, with In-call and headphone volume controls by @faux123 (must use FauxSound beta app v1.2.3 and up)
doubletap2wake available (0:disabled, 1:enabled, 2:enabled fullscreen), option to disable with power button or after wake_timeout (based on @flar2 and @showp1984 work)
USB Fast Charge (USB mode up to 900mA with MTP, by @flar2), Increase battery charging current to use higher input current (on AC mode by @faux123), proprietary charger detection
init.d support (busybox run-parts required)
Kernel cleaner script by @neobuddy89
Compatible with Kernel Manager, Kernel Tweaker, TricksterMOD, Franco Display Control and FauxSound Control
Featured on Rom Directory by @tFrost
Download latest Code_Blue Kernel zip on Test folder, flash in recovery and profit :highfive:
No mirrors allowed. Don't post hardlinks, use original links.
Changelog is available @ website also.
Builds are coded as follows:
test only for now on tests folder, no changelog, build with Linaro Cortex-A15 4.9.2 to minimize issues in troubleshoot.
Warning: If you come from other kernel, you should dirty flash your ROM before flashing Code_Blue zip to avoid problems.
Reflash ROM -> flash SuperSU -> Boot device -> flash Code_Blue.
Also uninstall or clean data of any kernel control app you're using.

will try this ofc
thank you sir

trying this as soon as i get off work

Glad there's a kernel out! So thanks! . but Max CPU is stuck at 1574400. If i change to Max it just goes back down after hitting apply?

Great! I think every Kernel management app isn't going to be compatible with every kernel and vice versa without messing around with a couple of options

I don't know if it is just me, but faux sound doesn't seem to be working. App starts up and says that the kernel is supported, but messing around with the toggles doesn't cause anything to happen. I'm assuming that the app or patch needs to be updated to work with L, or I'm just stupid and an not doing something right.

Well done Rui, good Job as ever [emoji106]

Holy ****! Running just as nice as on KitKat. Great job again my fav dev!

[KERNEL] [26 APR] v1.7.2 and GamerEdition RcrdBrt's INK kernel

With permission, this is RcrdBrt's kernel on the Nexus S threads. He said that someone can post his kernel here, and IMO it's awesome, so here it is:
INK Kernel
Italian Nexus Kernel
It is based on latest 4.0.4 source and for now I added:
-Deep Idle
-SLQB memory allocator
-Voodoo Sound (colors+sound)
-BLX
-BLN
-BLD (I really like it)
-lazy governor
-undervolt INT voltages by default (as I learned from bedalus graphs, INT uv is more efficient and it gives us a bit of more battery).
-SIO tweaked scheduler
-optimized CRC32 algorithm
-optimized some other code and compiler flags
-many many under-the-hood tweaks by the boss Ezekeel
I merged in it Steve Garon's tweaks branch and Ezekeel's hiddenpart branch and I had a boost in performances.
I unchecked in the config the TV tuners modules, some debug options and unnecessary govs to have a lighter and more powerful kernel.
it's not gonna be an all in one kernel, I let join the project only the features that I think they are good (suggestions however are well accepted).
My default settings are:
Ondemand 100/1000
SIO
FIND ALL DOWLOAD LINKS HERE
New kernel sources: https://[email protected]/RcrdBrt/INK.git (sorry if there are mistakes with commits, I don't know well how they works. Still learning)
Credits: big thanks to steve.garon for his tweaks and because he helped me with sources
Ezekeel for hiddenpart branch and his mods
terryhau
supercurio
Proscia A. for his geekness
Google
Changelog:
GamerEdition -----> do not expect battery life from this, it's a special verison meant to gamers, 72 Hz screen and tweaked lazy governor (default gov)
v 1.6.1 ---------> for 9020 users ---> fixed wifi issue caused by the toolchain added code tweaks (high smoothness) and optimizations retweaked SIO. I compiled this with arm-linux-androideabi to test it (instead of arm-eabi of 9023 version)
This can be considered the dev branch
v 1.5 ------- Optimized compiler flags, tweaked SIO, new sources (again and again lol), removed wimax and voodoo colors to have a highly optimized version for i9023 and added custom voltages, removed other debug options, merged some new Ezekeel tweaks
Pixel Edition --------- added bigmem and tun.ko, merged again with steve garon tweaks for under-the-hood insane performances
v 1.4 ------fixed the fix to the voodoo colors
v1.3-------reverted back to stock branch and readded all the tweaks to prevent mistakes I've done , added SIO as default scheduler, fixed Voodoo, added FASTCHARGE patch, raised the INT voltages (but still undervolted) added deep idle
v1.2 skipped version
v1.1--------removed wheatley and bfq. made SIO scheduler as default. fixed voodoo colors and a bit of fixes for the laggy thing. Added bigmem and deep idle
v1.0---------inital release
Thank you for posting this Joe .

No luck here either. I tried to flash this kernel and it wouldn't even get past the boot screen. Just a big ol' bootloop..
4g works why wouldnt it?
Try it with a Fresh install of Codename 2.0.
My phone hates UV and its working great here for me, not one reboot. Make sure your phone isnt overclocked already when installing too.

Under changelog you said you removed WiMax. That may be why people are assuming no 4g...
Well Joe you must have the magic recipe. I tried to flash this on three fresh installs. AOKP, Euroskank, and Slim. No dice. But can't say I wasn't persistent. Can anyone confirm this working other than Joe?

Magical Unicorn Kernel
With the blessing of a Sr. Moderator here on XDA, Magical Unicorn makes its return to XDA.
What is the goal of magical unicorn?
Code:
Best Performance without the need to overclock
Best Battery Life
original and innotive features
ROMS Supported
Code:
Samsung Based PureAOSP (aka GooglePlayEdition), Android 4.4 KitKat
Samsung Based PureAOSP (aka GPE), Android 4.4.2 KitKat
Samsung Based TouchWiz on Android 4.4.x (Not yet released by samsung)
Where to get ROMS?
[ROM] KOT49H【4.4.2】Danvdh - Google Edition【AOSP Features】【Optimized】01-01-2014b - NEW YEARS BUILD
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2539361
[ROM] VirginROM || a Google Play Edition ROM [4.3][4.4.2] - 12.17.13
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2343513
Devices Supported
Code:
Samsung S4 M919 <TESTED>
Samsung S4 I9505G <TESTED>
Samsung S4 I9505 <UNTESTED>
Release 1 is pretty much optimized stock with underclocking support.
This kernel is NOT locked to TW or AOSP, but it will NOT work on CyanogenMOD roms,
for the same reason google kernels dont work on CM on NEXUS devices.
This is NOT posted in original development, cause like most kernels here on XDA, the OP has very little original work in their kernel.
Im just sharing what was given to me, again with the blessing of a Sr. Moderator here on XDA.
About the Installer
Code:
The installer used does NOT alter your ramdisk, including any customizations
from your rom developer, as well as any TWEAKS other kernels may use.
These "tweaks" used by other developers may conflict with this kernel
causing random weirdness and reboots. This Kernel is tested on a i9505g
or a m919, depending on who tests it but EVERY build is tested. It is tested
using a STOCK rom.
This original feature of the installer also allows this kernel as is to be flashed
on any version of 4.4, including 4.4, 4.4.2 - as there is NO version specific
ramdisk.

FAQ
What features, enhancements, fixes, etc will be added?
Im working with Chad, a person friend in real life, working on what features he is willing to allow posted to a
open and public git repo - what he is willing to share will be added to this kernel.
Click to collapse
Now, you may ask: Chad had some features in open repos in the past, why are these features not in this kernel?
Well the answer to this is: some will be added shortly, while some will never be added due to a dispute of owership of the patch.
Click to collapse
Will this kernel support CyanogenMod based rom, they are AOSP?
For reasons I wont go into on this forum, I have no plans to support CyanogenMod. Their rom is not TRUE aosp. For the same reason you can not use a google nexus kernel on a nexus CM build, this kernel wont work on CM builds.
Click to collapse
Will you add support for additional devices?
YES - when some one, be it samsung, or a developer here ports a TRUE AOSP rom to a VZW, ATT, or SPR device - I will build the kernel for that device. As of today, there are only real AOSP builds available for TMO or the i9505/i9505g itself. If someone with a i9505 wishes to test on a GPE (real aosp) rom - let me know via PM. This kernel is tested to work on a i9505g.
Click to collapse
Your OP states TW and AOSP, but I only see 1 kernel download, what is it for?
As I stated above, this kernel is android 4.4.x2 based, it is NOT AOSP or TW based. If the rom is a true AOSP build, and is version 4.4.x, it will work with this kernel. Samsung has not released TW for 4.4.x yet - so for now - its AOSP only. When TW is releasesd, the zip files you are downloading today will work on the TW builds.

Wont work on any CM based. Some developers here on XDA claim they have built from source roms without ANY (and I mean ANY) CM code in them - this kernel "should" work on those roms. CM (and CM based) roms required a CM based kernel

required patches for Chad's CPU/GPU Governor that makes voltage scaling dynamic for BOTH cpu and gpu based off of cpu (or gpu) load.
and they also help to support Chad's Dynamic FSB scaling mod, where the FSB clock will be scaled depending on cpu load - lower voltage and lower fsb = better battery life. This is one of the methods used to get double the battery life in the "full featured" kernel when compared to others.
Chad is working on a "open source" (or public) solution that does the same as his "private" builds.

[Kernel][5.1.x][TF300/201][GRIMLOCK KERNEL][APR 02 2015]

April 2 2015 - NEW VERSION 5.1! Ready for Lollipop 5.1!!!!!
Quick list of features:
Overclock up to 1.8GHZ
Voltage control
Custom GPU overclock
Dynamic Fsync Control
Interactive and ROW tweaks
I/O and MMC tweaks for better performance
Auto detects whether you are using data2sd, f2fs or EXT4 - meaning you don't need an f2fs version anymore. At boot time the kernel detects your file system and boots based on what YOU have. Also works with data2sd.
Extra governors and I/O Schedulers
Chanegelog
2015-04-02 - Version 5.1
- Updated the Wifi modules to work with CM12 and Omnirom
2014-10-01 - Version 5.0
- Updated to work with Lollipop.
2014-10-01 - Version 4.0
- Fixed the Bluetooth not turning on issue
- Fixed a few of the dock keys not working (such as disabling the touchpad)
- Added Pegasusq Governor
- Added SIO, VR and BFQ I/O Schedulers
- Made BFQ the default
- Created a separate build based on Linaro 4.8.3 Toolchains
2014-09-12 - Version 3.0
- I don't remember now LOL!
Everything should work fine, but this kernel has only been extensively tested on Omnirom and Zombi-Pop.
*NOTE - If you are running this kernel on Katkiss, Version 5.1 likely will not work. You will need 5.0 as 5.0 still uses the wifi modules that katkiss needs.
Also at the end of this post is an app called Performance Profiles. I would suggest anyone who uses this kernel on OMNIROM to install this app, as it will allow you to change the CPU frequency so you aren't always stuck at 1.7GHZ. In CM this feature can be added to the quick settings panel so it is not necessary. It will allow you to toggle between 1GHZ(power save) 1.3GHZ(normal mode) or 1.7GHZ(performance mode). I apologize for the hideous UI, but I'm not a app creater or designer. - NOTE - NOW OBSOLETE
[/HIDE]
A huge thanks to krash1256 and uga_boy for your very kind donations!

Yay! Installing after work tonight.
Installed, looking good.
I have a feeling like core0 is stuck at 1,7GHz on SmartassV2, so I switched back to interactive. Third pic is first half SmartassV2 and second half Interactive.
I hope we can expect NTFS support in the future? Not tomorrow but someday?
Really good work, man! :highfive:
Running well on cm11 for me right now.

My previous post was on Omnirom. Now I flashed CBM and it is working too.
Awesome! A cm11 kernel has been at the top of my "Things I want/need for my tf300t" list, since cm11 Roms started showing up. lol
Thanks so much bro! You rock.

Seems good so far, been running since yesterday and none of my Gameloft games are laggy. Thanks for this
Does someone know the answer at this question: what the ratio between overclock and battery drain? I mean, if I overclock to 1.7Ghz, what %% i will lost on battery? Stock, with a normal use, i'm charging at 2-3 days. Overclock to 1.7, what can I expect of battery life?

No one can answer that accurately, since battery life is solely dependant on individual usage/configuration/added battery savings tweaks or lack thereof/etc...

Dynamic F-Sync
This is a goodie by faux123, so all credits go to him for creating this unique feature !
Many kernels just disable synchronous writes to file to speed up system. While this works neatly, it is also dangerous as processes believe that file writes are actually synced to disk (or mmc media in our case) while this is not yet true ! The gain is a noticeably smoother user experience, but the risk of doing so is to have a corrupted filesystem if the device crashes, user pulls battery, battery fully depletes ... so that the device is turned off unexpectedly. To allow for the benefit, but to minimize the risk, faux123 created dynamic fsync, which while the screen is on, will defer file sync temporarily, but when screen gets turned off, a flush is called to synchronize all outstanding writes keeping your data safe.
SLIMBus OverClocked
This means SLIMbus will use its maximum potential to give the best audio quality for the hardware. Takes advantage of both hardware and the mods from zeroinfinity, also opening the door for more things that were previously limited by this. Researched and experimented by ZeroInfinity and Poondog

Time to get this party started!!
Sick, nice to see the new forum. I just flashed the1/30 build on d2spr and everything seems to be working great. I did have one issue I had to install the exfat zip to pick up my SD card.

I lost LTE on this ROM as well as a Slimkat nandroid after flashing this. I'm trying to flash a TW ROM to see if I can get it back.
Edit: Flashed a stock TW ROM, updated PRL and profile, restored my slimkat nandroid and 4G is back.

Same here. Flashing TW nandroid fixed it and now I'm back on my daily, Slim 4.3 build 2.2 w/LTE. Will try again with future builds of KK.
I actually had to flash TW first then go to the 1/21 build, going from the latest beta back to the 1/21 still broke LTE. It's a shame cause it was running so good.
Did you guys also flash the exfat.zip? People on Google+ are saying that's working.

That was for no data at all...
Technically the purpose of exfat.zip is to be able to access an exfat formatted sdcard. But users have reported getting data including LTE to work. There are many examples of this on Google+.
Just try it.
I have a D2SPR in an area where Sprint has no LTE so can't confirm that it works.

I actually had LTE when I first flashed the ROM, then at some point it just went away and didn't come back.

Is this kernel meant to be running in quad core mode? There doesn't seem to be any hotplug and all cores are active
I have made optimizations In the mp decision itself.. You don't need any special hotplug for modding the kernel.... And for performance it is best tuned. I will import the hotplug if really needed to... But yeah I will definitely give a thought upon your hotplug introduction concept and will plan my next build accordingly.. Thanks for the feedback
Kernel doesn't always run in the quad core mode.. It will when the screen is on.. I will make suitable changes in the next build.. In sleep time. No quad-core.
Regards
Andy

I try to find this commits but not sure whitch one are suitable. You suould ask @acuicultor or @nikhil18. Their kernels have support aux jack, which tested myself and works fine.
