[Q] Does the XperiaM camera still blue tint problem after two firmware updates? - Sony Xperia M

Greetings, now that there is a new root method (towelroot) for the new firmware 15.4.A.1.9 (Android 4.3) for single sim Xperia M I am interested to update but ONLY if the camera's blueish tint problem has been fixed. Otherwise it's pointless.
I am on Android 4.1.2, 15.1.C.2.8 and the blueish tint problem under certain lighting conditions is well documented. But what is not documented is whether the newest firmware fixes this...
Can anyone help a brother out?

Darn, didn't realize this was gonna be such a hard question to answer. I guess this phone really is a low-use device

No I didn't notice anything blueish... It is fine by me

Yeap,still there.

Well, there's no more bluish tint in my camera in JB 4.3.
But, if it still bluish, try to use other camera software :fingers-crossed:
If it really still bluish, well you need to go to service center :silly:

Bug is still there but not so common. This bug can be easly "enabled" via few steps:
1. Find place with weak light source
2. Open camera - everything is fine
3. Cover camera lens with something for few seconds
4. Uncover it - everthing is blue

For me it happens with JB 4.1.2 with certain types of indoor light and background. Often I would be at a restaurant and take pics of my girlfriend with the white balance set to Auto and the whole pic is bluish. Changing the White Balance to fluorescent then fixes it. Have duplicated this blue tint problem at many locations and backgrounds. My girlfriend also has an Xperia M with the same problem so I know it's not my phone specifically plus this problem has been talked about many many times on this and other forums.
Using another camera app does not help (I tried at least seven different ones). But I chose Snap Camera due to the ability to place a quick toggle for the white balance (so not to get blue freakin pics all the time)

Color banding issue

Could you guys tell me is the color banding issue is known for HTC ONE X because I noticed that colors and resolution of some backgrounds and apps are very bad comparing to Sensation XE.
Ex: when adding gmail account, there are blurry lines appear on the background.
Thanks.
I have banding on the Gmail Add Account screen too - using stock O2 1.26 UK. Not rooted or otherwise altered from its box state.
I only have an HD2 for comparison, and that isn't running ICS, so the background is solid black, not graded.
---------- Post added at 05:09 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:59 PM ----------
Here, test your phone with this: http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/gradient.php
Looks fine on mine, so the banding may be down to certain apps deliberately limiting the number of colours shown?
The above test seems to rule out a flaw with the phone itself though, which is good!
Ignore many of the other tests on that website - they are not suitable for a small screen or variable backlight, so will indicate a fault where there is none.
Thanks Dave
My screen appears to be ok with the test but I still believe that there is a problem with colors.
Try to open google videos to see it clearly.
Also blue official ics wallpapers appear very bad.
Big thanks.

looks like its software as you can see perfect banding in the display tester app from market
chinese software 1.28 is said to have solved this

Make a screenshot and test it on your computer.
it's the dreaded AOSP banding issue. This is completely software and nothing to worry about.
Thank you all guys
Here are screen shots but on my One X the pictures appear more blurry.

Partial "crashed" screen for a split second - soft- or hardware issue?

I've been using my One X for several weeks now (I think the hboot date is around early June so it's not one of the early batches) and so far didn't have any problem except for the following:
Twice, first a few weeks ago and the second time last night I saw some "artifacts". I'm not quite sure but I think different parts of the screen were affected each time. What happens is that everything is shown how it's supposed to be except for a 30%-40% area which looks a little like a computer screen right after a software/driver crash can look like. Without doing anything, it disappeared each time after less than a second.
I wasn't able to take a screenshot but the following photo shows how it roughly looked like. In my case, there were only lines and cubes in black, white and bright green instead of the more "fuzzy" parts shown in the photo.

Is this a driver issue? A lose connection? A display fault? I was close to unlocking my phone but with this having happened twice so far I wonder whether I should wait a little longer...
PS: It's probably unrelated, but like a minute later I encountered some "keypad ghosting" via swiftkey, i.e. I was pressing some keys on the keyboard and it was inserting several different ones each time. I do suppose that it's a software glitch, though, as I tried the stock keyboard another minute later and this worked fine.
If you can still swap your device with your retailer I would do that, just to be on the save side...
did u update to latest already?
if yes,
was it there before u updated..??
it doesn't look like a hardware issue
Did it act like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HIY0_Hy2_mA ?

No, everything was where it was supposed to be and the artifacts faded away after probably less than a second.
I still have the latest stock Rom, haven't updated yet. I do think it's been more of a software glitch but I couldn't find information on here or anywhere else which would state a similar problem. Which is good?

Contrast problems on the display?

Hi there,
i am fairly new to the HTC and Android scene. Yesterday i got my HTC One X and the very first i noticed is a problem with the contrast.
Especially when it goes from grey to black, there are blocks visible. It is a bit difficult to make a photo of this issue, but i think you can see it clearly.
Is this a known issue? Can i do something about that?

Many thanks.
That's not contrast.
That is an image that seems to either compression artifacts or was produced with too little bit depth.
There's nothing wrong with the phone, it is faithfully reproducing a crappy image.
This was just an example. It shows the menu of a program (i think google maps).
I have also some photos that look the same where a black area goes into a brighter area.
Also some of dark HTC widgets, like the clock show this.
Like i said, difficult to make a photo of this issue:
Any problems viewing this?
Probably you mean these horizontal stripes. They are there when you look at the angle, but when you look straight, they are not there. I guess this is a problem due to technology used and it looks the same on mine One X. Also, AFAIR there are two different displays used in HOX, both from different manufactures and one of them doesn't have this problem but there are some other minor problems like smaller contrast or brightness, can't exatcly remember right now. It also annoys me but generally it is still the best phone screen I've ever seen and somehow I can get over it

these widgets in particular, and a lot of other things are supposed to change colour gradients, the notification bar being another.
just makes it look more fancy/3d
personally i don't think you have any problems except for the colour depth of the image not being enough, and that is why you see that, if there was more depth, then more detail and you wouldn't see that blocking
try switch your pc to a lower colour depth and youll see the exact same effect.

Thanks. I had the same idea and it looks normal. I also upgrade it to CM10 which does not have these grey to black transitions at all.
So no problem there, just poor graphics by HTC.
Thanks

Not work
Even I'm getting a horrible bluish purple tint in JB Camera AFTER the picture is clicked.
If I were to give an excuse, I'd say it has a built-in Instragram.
Sorry for the sarcasm if it's offensive.

[Q] Camera Firmware Issue, Unusable

TL;DR - Camera firmware updated on Google Edition, largely unusable since. Any fixes?
Here's the tale. My camera was excellent for the past year or so, and served me well no matter what ROM was being used. One fateful day, I was going to share something to a friend on Google+ while using the Google Play Edition ROM (really very excellent) when I was presented with this message:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I didn't think much of it, but let it sit while it did this. I eventually came back to the phone after several minutes, only to find the message still there.
I killed Google+ and opened my camera. I was presented the same message that the camera firmware was updating and to wait. I let it sit for about half an hour. I tried again only to receive the same message. Eventually I was presented a black screen with the camera controls, and was able to switch to the front camera. However, the back camera was still only a black screen. I restarted and had the same issue.
I reflashed to a stock based ROM (Insane) and was presented with the same issue, only this time no warning about firmware upgrades in progress - just black screen on the rear camera. At this point I decided an ODIN would probably take me back to where I needed to be, so I ODIN'ed a stock image. The issue was still persistent, but the camera would work every once in awhile now. It was a very rare occasion, but sometimes the back camera would flicker into life and allow me to take pictures as usual. Infuriatingly enough, the first time it started working was when I was trying to show a friend of mine, also into Android, the issue.
Non-TW based ROMs do not work with the rear camera now. The front camera is still working, and sometimes allows videos to be taken.
TW based ROMs rarely work with the rear camera now. The front camera is still working, and sometimes allows videos to be taken.
Does anyone have any ideas on remedies for this issue? Is there a stock Samsung Galaxy S4 camera firmware flashable? I've searched around, and decided to yield to the higher XDA powers of knowledge after no returns.
