[ROM][NON-COMPLETED]Geodev 1.0 - HTC Desire 300

First of all, Hello all!
Me, and my bro, @topuchi13 are going to build a new ROM...
We're starting it in about a week ( That's because my bro is busy and he has not got time for that now).
We need your help...
Here is who we need: Testers, A guy who can make a good review, 1 more guy who has got HTC Desire 300 and can help me developing a new ROM.
Just reply to thread if you want to be one of these guys
Testers: @luxb
@ffroms

OK, you are added to tester list

I can help with some beta testing but, since this is my job phone I can test only versions with basic functions working (phone, internet, mail) so that my job don't suffer

Sorry, I don't have the original. I've flashed the custom one a while ago.
I'm not sure I can test it, I'm on vacation right now and don't have my PC with me.

I can try to do a video review, a written one with screenshots and photos is possible at any time
I can't help developing since i don't have a proper pc to do so
Still working on the S-OFF method?

What kind of ROM are you building ? Aosp or sense ? and what are the prerequisite the phone has to have in order to test ? (Since there's no s-off yet I guess some other things have to be done)
My girlfriend has got this phone and its slow as hell so maybe I can be a tester with her phone if its still usable afterwards but I think she'd agree anyway cause the device is making her crazy also I can only start testing after august 6th cause we're on holiday right now

I would be happy to help you guys with testing any ROM. Still Desire 300 can be only S-ON. I hope you are going to compile AOSP ROM. Also i got request - If you are really going to make AOSP ROM would you use Linaro 4.9 by @Christopher83 , @JustArchi optimizations, -O3 optimizations, Link Time Optimizations. Lets get this phone working again because with stock firmware is just awful.

I wouldn't say its awful, its just that sense isnt the quickest thing on a dualcore
. i would like to have the full sense as well bc only 2 home screens is just not enough ... Good thing is droidtwe4kz is working on s-off too

My sister bought brand new Desire 310 and used it exactly one week. After that she went back to my old Samsung Galaxy S Plus I9001 (using CM 11.0 Release 10 by ADC-Team & K^Kernel 416 RAM by ADC-Team). This old device is single core phone with 512 ram and it is totally better in every way compared to Desire 310. She asked me to do something with her HTC but first i need to find any ROM. That's why i would like to help with tests.

Well this is not Desire 310 but desire 300. The Desire 310 has a MediaTek Quadcore SoC with 1.3Ghz and 1GB ram, running a slightly modified AOSP rom. I can tell you this device HAS to be faster than the S plus of your sister. It is, check it. There currently no ROM available for 310 because of the Mediatek SoC. It's rootable via Framaroot using the Boromir exploit. DO NOT FLASH ANY ROMS, THERE ARE NONE

Yeah that can be true ... CM boosts phones ... I'm sure CM on this phone would make it faster

We're making 4.4 ROM, I think it will be based on CM

Wildfire S Rom possibilities

HTC announced the wildfire S today which has close specs to the Hero. It has gingerbread sense ui and has a 600 MHz processor and a 3.2 inch screen. So I'd it possible we can port a rom of it to the Hero?
Sent from my HTC Hero CDMA using XDA App
Just FYI, 600 MHz on one phone is not the same as 600 MHz on another phone. The CPU in the phone you speak of is at least one generation newer than what we have. Read here for more details
http://smartphonebenchmarks.com/for...msm7225-msm7625-processors-how-good-are-they/
Basically it will probably be very difficult to port. nfinitefx and others tried very hard to get a stable port of the original Wildfire, and that was hard enough.
Possible on Wildfire not s?

Well i don't agree that it can not be ported to our wildfires.the kernel can be modified with the right drivers for our wildfires when i will have time and the sources will be available i will work on it.but the worst part would be the resolution i think.
I think that the best phones for porting Wildfire S ROM-s are Legend and Aria (Gratia) because both phones have more/less the same hardware specifications

i think all devices with android will be unlocked
More likely that devices they update will have the unlocked loader, not old devices..Why would they bother? Too much hard work! No profit from doing it! Much the same as there usual update methods (2 updates is enough for the consumer)

Well what they do is just add wee bootloader code to Android 2.4 and that's it (yes Wildfire S will get 2.4 update for sure)

ROM Capacity
Hi all,
Please , can somebody tell me if he has a more information about Android and especially Widfire S. I just be a proud new member to Android operation system change from Windows mobile . On specification Wildfire S has a 512MB ROM and 512MB RAM. So the question is , why after reinstalling Android OS( Hard Reset ) from this 512MB i had only 124MB free space for installation program.
What should I do to increase ROM free space.
Thank you in advance.
Because that has to include the base ROM and all of the applications that it's running. HTC sense takes up a lot of space.
best to unlock, root and tear out a bunch of that bloat.

I've been trying to get info from HTC about a possible update, at least to 2.3.5 but the guys at tech support are too vague and didn't even reply to bug reports I sent them. I have the latest European RUU and it has some problems with force closes after installing apps from Market, gave the guys all my phone info, yet still they don't know if there are plans to upgrade the phone.
However they promise that they'll let me know as soon as they know something and also say that they want to guarantee the best possible user experience.
I guess ICS 2.4 would be perfect. Now that it's officially released I suggest HTC to Get on their Boots (like U2 would say lol).
The WFS has enough hardware to run ICS so what are they waiting for?
I've had so many phones from HTC and even QTek (former HTC) that I expect some level of commitment on their part.
Sorry for the long post. Needed to uncompress my thoughts... ;-)
ICS is currently Android 4.1 not Android 2.4. But yes WFS can run gingerbread and so can run ICS also.
I'm now the proud owner of a wildfire s with .9gb (yes 900mb) of system memory after install. The new roms are kicking!

[Discussion] "Ubuntu for Phones"

As you all know "Ubuntu for phones" has been released for the Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, Nexus 7 and Nexus 10. Lets discuss about this being a possiblity to port on our device.
A porting guide will be posted on Ubuntu website on 22nd (which is today in India).
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Porting#Stay_tuned.21
Great my fingers-crossed hope we can take advantage of Ubuntu in our phone

Dual Boot
Just curious, the porting guide says that Ubuntu runs over the stock kernel, if it's right, would it be possible to run it in dual boot?
Samsung Galaxy S (I9000) is having official support and currently the port is work in progress. Apart from the system partition size issue, if samsung galaxy s can run it, so can defy. This is very early stage and we can only presume such thing.

Should not be, most of the phones which can run cm 10.1 can easily handle this. Building it too doesn't look much difficult. "Ubuntu for phones" is surprisingly based on CM sources.
I've not enough speed for syncing sources, maybe Kayant or m11kkaa can build it for us.

Till it gets stable enough to worth porting, we will probably have CM 10.1 and kernel 3.0 working perfectly
A little update
I have successfully compiled the the ubuntu zip for our defy however, am facing a major issue at the moment which is the prebulit image that is needed to flash before installing the defy zip is not being installed for some reason Am currently trying to find why this is but no luck so far...... I think I may be something to do with our data partition..... maybe the preimage is too big for it??? that am not sure but I have just reduced it by deleting some images and videos included in the demo..... Hopefully it will decide to work this time
Edit - that did the trick it's working now ^_^

A Sense Kernel version 3.X. The Desire doesn't even have a working kernel 3. So you will have to base your ROM on kernel 2.6, which is difficult, but possible with the right set of skills.

ok let's start with the kernel. there are different versions of kernel
k 2.x.x And k3 means a Kernel with the version 3.x This one you need for Roms with Jellybean. And than is there a different between Sense and non Sense ROMs at the Kernel. So there is a K3 for non Sense, but i think ION isn't stable there.
I don't know anything about kernel, too. Otherwise i had started it. i can c, c++, a bit java, matlab and assambler But i know nothing about Kernel

Dunno lol
I managed to flash the ROM. It doesn't go past the HTC Screen, and I can't get a logcat. USB Debugging is most probably not enabled, and the device is Offline. The PC detects the device which means that the kernel is working (No wonder here, considering it's based on Chromium's ROM).
I think that the reason it doesn't go past the HTC Screen is that the system and kernel are not compatible. The kernel needs Sense tweaks. Good luck with that OP!
I flashed the ROM on this hboot I made.

It has a 355 MB system, 5 MB cache and 77 MB Data.

You need to format everything other than the sd. In 4ext the option for this is in wipe > format all partitions (except sdcard)
Make sure you do this.

Ok, i was just talking to someone that was having the exact same problem as you and it turned out that he wasnt properly doing a full wipe.
You need to format everything other than the sd. In 4ext the option for this is in wipe > format all partitions (except sdcard)
Make sure you do this.

OK. I'll try this method too
And why don't you fix this, for the users to not go trough so much trouble ?

1. Users arent really having to go through much trouble. The only difference now is that you need to reboot in between flashing the rom and gapps.
2. By slightly breaking the setup wizard, I seem to have been able to fix the WiFi bug where it would get stuck turning on. I would rather have better working WiFi that I constantly use, than a perfectly working setup wizard which I only use once. Im sure the majority of other users feel the same.
you're right. I just said. Don't be mad on me :|
And finally it started . Hell yeah :highfive:
Thx for the somthest,fastest,stable 4.4 rom :>
hell yeah.

VPN Issues
Greetings, I have installed Beanstalk 4.4.2 on my 4 years old Desire just few days ago. So far so good, it is great, fast, it really revived my smartphone. But ...
What is the reason no form of VPN works on it? I have some prepaid solution and its app doesn't work. OpenVPN doesn't. PP2P/L2TP solutions don't work. Is it system bug which needs fix or am I doing anything wrong?
Thanks for answer.

It needs kernel 3 which fixes that and camera and otherstuff but that's still in development.

Sorry to ruin it for you but camera will not be fixed with K3 release, if it will be released anytime which I highly doubt anymore. It is a matter of unreleased sources and libs by HTC, so the best we will get is what we already have, camera-wise. So long story short, if you want fully functional camera and video recording, GB is the only way or that chinese ICS released sometime ago.

So if I want fully functional and fast HTC Desire I should go for Mild Wild or pure CM? What is the difference between cm based and redux based MW? Thanks.

I would recommend Mildwild MW rom based on redux2.

They're just slightly different ROM bases. Install both, see which one you prefer
It's the best way to find out, unlike recommendations without justifications as above..
Remember you can maximise space much better with either of those ROMs as they into smaller hboots
CM version will fit into cm7r2, redux should fit into oxygenR2, check the threads.

Yh but didn't Qualcomm release adreno 200 drivers? I'm sure they did.

Qualcomm has nothing to do with camera, unfortunately.

I did. It works way better than any stock I have tried. It have very clever optimisation software/tweaks on board. Keep in mind I have a 1gb version. No gapps so u have to flash your own. I think even if flash by the local upgrade method will still wipe the phone. But it is still root able by eroot. Xposed will give u a bootloop btw.....

Hi theoppositeman,
I am still around, had my HAM bricked, got the service centre to replaced both the motherboard and battery under warranty. At the moment on stock Rom, looking into flashing any latest update available.

Wow. You bought another one? Since you said its repaired under warranty, ive been using mine since january last year, bricked on march this year, sent it to SC and they replace me with new unit on 1st april for 300myr. Never regret using this monster, though my friend force me to sell it since its almost 2 years with it he said and i should move on with new one..haha what a lame excuse..
........
I have been using many custom roms and the beat choice was by kangvip. Everything seem functional and fast. Miui roms are good but for me adjusting the large icons through the build.prop has some side effects especially the smoothness. Well since we had a new B930 update, i guess devs will work their hands on customised it..

could you please post a mirror for the modified one, google translate refuses to translate the page
thank you

Hi theoppositeman,
Nope, still using the old unit, with new motherboard and new battery which was replaced by the service centre in May. Had a WP8.1 device for a short while, but then decided to return back to my mate as the battery for mate is still better. After awhile, now looking to flash custom or new rom. Any suggestions?

As far as i hv using roms for my mate, Hyd52Rom is the best one.
Stable and definitely smooth with fast response.
Everything works on it even the latest beta xposed frameworks.

If I have the 2GB version I will go definitely go with hyd52Rom. But me having the 1GB seriously impairs the performance and multitasking. B930 helps me to take care of that by selectively shutting down apps after screen is off .. But I guess greenify does that as well.
