Start your device by pressing volume+ and power and hold it until the screen gets black. Release both buttons and press volume-
It works for me every time.

I too received the same message when I tried to root. Something had to do with att locking boot.img. Use a program called rootmaster to root my phone.

I realize that this post is nearly one month old, but I rooted using Towelroot(only works if you haven't updated to the latest firmware from AT&T) mentioned above, and then used the method that chappatti found [here](http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52945705&postcount=1) to install the custom CWM.
Of course, if you want TWRP, you can always use FreeGee in the play store to install that easily.

1. Use roottool.kitkat to root the device (unzip>>run the "startroot.bat" file thats in the folder>>and follow the instructions.)
2. After device is rooted and reboot place SuperSU, GPRO_Recovery and FreeGee apks on the device
3. Install SuperSU, GPRO_Recovery and FreeGee apks
4. Run the now installed app GPRO_Recovery and select "Flash Kitkat Recovery for G Pro". WHEN ITS DONE DONT REBOOT .
5. Now run the already installed app FreeGee and install CWM-6.0.4.7 or TWRP, when its done u can reboot to recovery to check.:good:

Root LG Nitro HD Att ICS (Works like a Charm)

Hi Guys,
This is my 1st thread to guide you to correct resource rather as many of us have struggled to root the AtT ICS version ROMs.
I was on leaked iCS v18f installed immediately when available, struggled hard to root it.. Tsparky, Doomlord, SuperOneClick, manual root,. No go for more than a couple of months.. Found the Bin4ry root method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
Worked in 1st attempt.
Thought it should work on V20c as well,, upgraded to v20c.. rooted in 1st attempt again (no surprise there)
UI is smooth as silk and response is awesome..
Right now Rooted, no-frills CPU, ADW Launcher Ex and Network Selection Tweak by -ReaL-. (as the *#*#4636#*#* code to choose network selection is removed on V20c) THANKS A LOT..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1823399
My Phone is a like a ripe cherry for the 1st time and I am jus loving it...
Thanks to all the mods and developers..
NOTE: Confirmed working on both ICS versions V18f and v20C, single attempts, though doesnt work on Gingerbread as explained in the linked post.
Doesnt work
I tried the method provided, and i followed the instructions and no luck for me with my LG nitro, with stock ICS on it
Device detection
Make sure USB Debugging under "Development section" and Unknown Sources under "Security" are selected.
Launch the "command prompt" as Administrator. Make sure it lists your mobile phone when you run the command "stuff\adb devices" U r good to go..
If it doesn't, then the drivers are not installed properly, check in Device Manager there are no unknown devices or devices with yellow exclamation marks etc.. Make sure drivers are installed properly. The above condition should be met to root your device.
Please go through the video tutorial in the link attached for Bin4ary root method
Attn Mods
Hi MODs,
If you think this should not be as a separate thread, please merge this with any existing thread about rooting P930 with AT&T ICS
Thanks..
Works like a charm
Many thanks, it took me 5 minutes to download and root my nitro(official ICS).
I recommend making this thread as sticky thread for rooting.
It works but you don't have full root, SU and CWM can be install but when I attempt to boot into recovery, I get the boot certification error. Damn LG for subscribing to the Secure Boot fad, started by Micro$oft. I have the LG MultFlash Tool, where can I download a Stock AT&T Gingerbread firmware?
Check in one of the various unbricking threads there you will find all the files and instructions required. Good luck

Anyone else get the same result on V20C, after rooting and flashing CWM cannot reboot into Recovery Mode? It just boots into Fastboot because of boot certificate error. Anyone have an ADB solution that can work in Fastboot?

Unbrick to flash CWM... only way coming from V20C. If there was a simpler way it would have probably been posted, but there's not.

Yes, u r right,, CWM does not run on ICS, either V18f, V20(X) versions.. it would cause issues if u try CWM on ICS.. hence we have so many guides to go back to Stock GB, install CWM and install Custom ROMs, kernels etc

Ok thanks, was attempting to just use LG Flash Tool to flash Gingerbread rom but the DLL that I have is for UPGRADE. I need a DLL to allow Downgrade, Looks like I have days of aggravation ahead to get CM10 on my Nitro.
Finally got unbricked and rooted. Now on to CM10 Thanks to everyone!

once I got 10F.KDZ flashed, I ran SuperOneClick 2.3.2 to get root (make sure USB Debugging and Unknown Sources are checked and also make sure your computer has Microsoft's .NET 3.5 installed, I ran into a problem getting SuperOneClick to run without it) once rooted, I was able to side load an updated GooglePlay.apk, then downloaded ROM Manager, rebooted into recovery. I did discover that the current recovery cannot see SDCards larger than 2 Gigs, because it could not detect my 16 Gig card. So I used a 1 GIg card with CyanogenMod 10.0.0-P930.zip, did a wipe of all the partitions and Dalvik Cache. then installed CM10. After CM10 installed I flashed the AT&T baseband back into the phone using ADB. My Nitro looks awesome now. Had to download the latest gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip and flashed with ROM Manager. One last thing once CWM Recovery is flashed to your phone, to get into it manually, simply hold the volume down + power until you see the screen asking you if you want to factory reset, click the power button confirming, instead of hard reset it will load CWM Recovery.:good:

But when i tried to root my phone using TowelRoot, it failed. ... so, please beware. if u don't want to loose your root, don't install the latest OTA update.

- Download G Pro Recovery and Freegee.
- Open G Pro Recovery and select the 'Flash Recovery' option at the of the menu.

I rooted my G2 using ioroot several times with no problems. Here was my basic method (based off memory)
- Turn on USB Debugging
- Connect G2 to PC in Charge Only mode
- Accept RSA Key (If you haven't already)
- Run ioroot.bat
- Follow on screen instructions (newest version is a bit different and requires you to change to MTP mode then back to Charge Only)
- Let phone reboot as normal
- Check root via Root Checker or Android Terminal Emulator.
Then you should be rooted and good to go.

this is what i think could happen if you use the old version of it once, and then using the correct version will not even root your phone.
In order to overcome this you need to reinstall your from stock so that the faulty superuser folder gets removed.

i followed this forum to start from stock and then root the phone using ioroot25r version as mentioned earlier.
i followed the second method (the tot one).
good luck.

For now, be careful with unlocking bootloader. There is a good chance to get a brick your phone (already have a case of getting a brick using Motopocalypse).
Work on unlocking boot are conducted on 183.46.15, be patient
Ortli or kkruglov can you please post a screenshot showing your system version? There has been some testing of this on another forum and it didn't work.
Shmaks how did you manage to brick with Motopocalypse? Either it works or it doesn't.
I'm sorry, but this whole thread smacks of BS. First clue? This exploit still uses Towel Root, which has long been proven not to work on .15.

Version of Motorola update doesn't matter, because we are dealing with kernel. Towelroot doesn't work on fresh kernels, but it does on old ones. Exploit simply has to interchange them artfully, then return back as they were. Look at the picture:
P.S. New, more convenient version of main script was published by one of exploit authors, so I think OP will be updated soon with new link. And yes, it works. No doubt!
UPDATE: exploit layout, more detailed.
Here's what I got about script's algorithm at 4pda.ru community discussion, in general:
1) Script crashes moto_crypto.
2) Factory recovery gets replaced by May 1 kernel.
3) Reboot to recovery, but there is kernel instead - it gets booted, and we got vulnerable to Towelroot system under May 1 kernel.
4) We do root job, then quit.
5) Factory recovery returned back.
6) Script starts moto_crypto.
7) Normal system start, as if nothing happened.
W/o moto_crypto crash trick the kernel isn't stable + has no rw rights. Also there are few lines changed in giefroot's *.sh + custom install script. What exactly changed, and what for - I don't know, being not dev )
How is it possible to change the kernel with a locked boot loader? Has anyone actually got this to work? One person tried and it didn't work.

P.S. After all process, if there will be no SuperSU application in you'r device, please install supersu.apk from: "\root\Hydrogen PEROXIDE\files".

You would name me a Cap, but - via exploit )
I can't translate all that was written at 4pda, where exploit has appeared, but here is in general. HydrogenXS: "The method, I would name it Hydrogen peroxide, is based on giefroot utility. Thanks to zxz0O0 for his hard work, and also to all authors of applications that use giefroot developments."
Has anyone actually got this to work?

Is there a root method for the Sprint LG G2 on Lollipop?

I bought a Sprint LG G2 and it's on the latest software (Lollipop). I tried using a few root methods, but every single one has failed or stopped in the middle. Have you guys tried anything that works?
I faced the same issue and after research on many forums I found that LG G2 received 3 updates in Lolipop ZVG >>> then ZVH >>> then ZVI if you want to root you have to go back to ZVH or before. I rooted my phone on ZVH with Iroot , it is the only method that worked for me,
I am not well experienced I am just telling you my experience with the G2 , I hope somone post a positif solution to this.

yes..for zvi rooting you have 2 methods..one is free another will cost you 3 bucks from the app store.
the free method:
1. Root using KingRoot.
2. Use AutoRec to install TWRP.
3. Download latest flashable zip version of SuperSU and copy it to device.
4. Go into KingRoot settings and choose "Full unroot" which will uninstall KingRoot and unroot.
5. Uninstall Purity app installed by KingRoot.
6. Reboot into TWRP Recovery and install SuperSU zip file from step 3.
7. Reboot and run SuperSU, it will say binary needs to be updated. Select Normal method. It should work.
8. Reboot when SuperSU has finished updating binary and profit.
the 3 dollar method ( one I choose) :
root via Kingroot ( downloaded from their website ) and then replace kingroot with SuperSU using SuperSU-ME ( 3 bucks ) from the app store.
