put it in download mode and flash the stock rom from sammobile with odin.

you can do 2 things
1. factory reset by turning off your phone and holding home button and lock button and volume up and release the lock button when it shows note 3 neo and keep pressing the other 2 keys It Will bring you to stock recovery navigate by volume up down and lock to confirm go to factory reset and press yes if it doesn't boot up then
2. put in downlaod mod turn off your phone and press home lock volume down and then confirm press volume up
download the official firmware from sammobile and download Odin run as administrator and press pda and navigate to the firmware you downloaded and connect your phone to your pc via USB and press start
hope I helped you

same here bro when i soft bricked my phone i went to samsung service centre as i didnt felt like downloading 1 gb,they told me too that motherboard will be replaced for INR 7k and flashing stock rom will not work...I said to them just goto download mode and flash the stock rom....they were a bit amazed by my knowledge about odin and flashing, etc and went on to flash it....everything got fixed and they were left red faced......

Hey next time when you brick your phone just try flashing root file with odin (simple rooting procedure) this works for me all the time when i brick my phone and saves my time and data too.
Keep calm and stay rooted

Do you see any missing/unknown devices in Device Manager?
If so you might just need to download an updated USB driver from Samsung's website.
I'm having this exact same issue. I hope there is someone that can help figure this out. Mine occurred while trying to reroot after the update.
---------- Post added at 12:30 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:21 AM ----------
If it helps, this is what I did.
After successfully rooting my husbands phone, he accidently updated. I've waited to try and do re-route it now since you've published a method of re-rooting. This was my first attempt at rooting ever and currently the phone only powers on to the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 screen and doesn't go any further. Here's what happened:
On Windows 7
Opened CASUAL
Received instructions to flash root.
Using Odin I tried I605_VRALJB_Restore.tar.md5, it failed to flash so I instead flashed root66_VZW_stock_system.tar.md5.
This worked fine, proceeded with CASUAL
Flashed BAVBaseline.tar.md5.
Phone began to reset and froze at Samsung Galaxy Note 2 starter screen. Waited 5 minutes no change in the screen on the phone or on CASUAL. After 30 minutes pressed power and the buttons to get into Odin, I finally unplugged. The phone is still stuck at the start screen and isn't recognized by Odin or my computer
So you're on a Verizon GN2? Just want to make sure we're talking the same phone
Also did you pull the battery yet?

Okay that has happened to me before.
I had to download a new stock rom and flash it via TWRP.
If you dont have TWRP Recovery mode, find a rom you can flash in normal recovery.
(To get to recovery mode, take battery out of phone, put back in and then hold "volume up, power and home button simultaneously for about 10 seconds.")
Once you have the new rom .zip file downloaded...
You have to take the SD Card out of the bricked phone and place in a different phone.
Put the different phone on the computer and put the rom on there.
When it gets copied to the ext sd, put it back into the bricked phone and proceed into recovery mode as I explained above.
You will probably have to factory reset, and then install the new rom onto the bricked phone from the ext sd card.
If you have any questions just post.
Hope it helps.

UPDATE: IT WORKED AND FULL ON STOCK RIGHT NOW. Thanks!
Now I need to figure out what went wrong cos I cant stay stock for long and dont want to keep doing this again and again...
Removed...I figured it out. Thanks so much y'all.
(editx2)
Just in case someone comes along like me and the above doesn't work for them.
Was getting stuck at second "Samsung" screen, could not flash rom via Odin or by recovery...couldn't even get to recovery at first.
After much round and round, here's the winning combination:
Flash stock recovery via Odin, flash twrp 2.3.1.1 (newest one with .tar file I could find) via Odin, then flash stock rom...Was that simple for me, just a lot of trial and error.

[Q] Android System Recover <3e>

I am lookin for advice or help, I was rooted and had flashed 4.3, the wifi quit working on my phone so I tried to restore to prior to the update. I am not sure if I have bricked my phone. I can get to the Android System Recover <3e> screen by holding down the volume up, home key, and power. When I try to do a factory reset Sprint Galaxy Note II screen loads then turns black. Then nothing without pulling the battery or holding the three keys to get into the Android System Recovery screen. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated, Thank you,
This is the stock 4.3 image for use in Odin http://www.mediafire.com/download/7viivd985s7cp8l/L900VPUBMK4_L900SPTBMK4_HOME.tar.zip
To get into download mode use vol down, home, power. You'll need Odin 3.07 or 3.09. Put this in the PDA or AP tab. DO NOT MESS WITH ANYTHING ELSE IN ODIN.

I was able to boot the phone and get it running. The issue I am having now is I can't get a network signal. Preparing network shows in the status bar but it never goes away and the phone has no signal.
Does it show the baseband version in the settings? If it does your efs is screwed. Not too sure if someone has a backup of their efs...it contains some essential information such as their MEID and IMEI (amongst other things).

[q] download mode

Hello to all the xda pros had recently bought an s3 so happy that i had finally got it and wasted no time in rooting using causal worked great then i made the biggest mistake ever i didn't flash a recovery or different rom. Could not choose to many new and cool looking roms. Had got called in to work early and left my new phone at home another mistake. My lovely wife found it and seen att send a update notification thinking this is what i wanted since it was all i could talk about she took the 4.3 update!!! I cant really blame her because she knows nothing about rooting or flashing roms she thought she was helping but now am left with a messy slow laggy phone. I tried to reroot using casual again and it looked like it was working but after it reboot it was running even slower in "safe mode" and supersu says that i have to reroot manually after 4.3. Have tried to root via odin but phone wont go in to download mode no matter how many time i try it always ends up booting in to "safe mode" the only thing i am doing in adding to the custom binary download counter am up to 3 and the warrant counter is at 1. Any advice from the pros would love nothing more to return to custom rom tw 4.3 is acting alot like ios 7.

To disable Safe Mode
1. Press and hold the Power button
2. Select Restart
3. Select OK
Then if you in normal mode try get to download mode. Volume down + Home Button and Power button. Hold all anthill you see Warning screen then press Volume Up.
If Safe Mode continues to display on the Home Screen after restarting the device and a Factory Reset does not resolve the problem, it may be due to a faulty Home button which would be considered damaged hardware.

If other method not gone work you can try to get off safe mode by :
Go to Settings
1.Select Apps->All (Look for ALL on top menu or swipe to the right to get to ALL)
2.Select Google Services Framework and tap Clear Data.
3.Turn off (shut down) your phone and turn it back on.
See if the phone will be out of Safe Mode.
I don't think you can get to download mode longest you are in safe mode.

[Q] Note-II N7100 Power Button

Hi,
My Note-II has some issues with the power button, most probably something with the power chip.
The Technicians say that repairing it might leave the phone useless.
I was OK with that as I was using a widget to put the phone to sleep and using some battery removal tweaks to start it if it was switched off.
The problem now is that my phone is still on 4.1.2 I am in Oman my friends having the same model and build got the update but I haven't received it yet so thought I would upgrade manually via Odin or maybe Root it.
Is there any way I could put the phone in Recovery Mode without using the power button????
Please suggest a work around.
TIA

Strange question lol...
If you are rooted you can use quick reboot app to boot into recovery...
Not an issue..
And prefer rooting and updating Cz official updates give you knox.. And thats what most of the people dont want...

Yes I know it's a strange situation.
No I'm not rooted.
I want to enter recovery to either root the phone or just update it.
But as the power button is messed up so I can't do any of the above by the normal method.
I need to know if there is any other method to enter the recovery...

[Partially solved][Q] GT-N7100 download mode problem

Hello,
It's been a while since I last stepped foot in the xda forums as I've been happy with stock, however when kies pushed the 4.3 update to my Note 2 I've started having problems - my phone will not sleep. After 2 min timeout the display turns off and immediately turns itself on again. It then goes into a loop where it turns off and on again every second until I unlock it. This is playing havoc with my battery life (I only get about 6 hours from full charge now). I've tried disabling any setting that might cause this (like smart stay etc.), I downloaded wakelockdetector (doesn't detect anything), I've tested my sensors and sleep mode with #*0*# (sleep mode has the same problem here), and I've done multiple factory/hard resets (x5).
I want to go back to 4.1.2 because this problem only started happening with 4.3 except now I have a different problem - I can't get download mode to work so I can't flash any recovery/firmware. I get the download mode screen up via the usual 3-key method, however once I'm there it seems to disable my volume keys because they stop working. I can get into recovery mode without any problems and the volume keys work fine there, but once it loads up the download mode screen and prompts me to press vol up to start or vol down to cancel, no matter what I press nothing happens. I have to hold down the power key to reboot.
Does anyone have any idea why my Note 2 is so broken?
Would really appreciate some expert help here. Thanks in advance.
Other stuff I've tried: I've tried with and without my SDcard. I've tried formatting my SDcard. I've tried taking my battery out for 5 mins and then go straight to download mode, but still my vol keys won't work.
I got kies to do a firmware reinitialisation which downloaded 4.3 again and flashed my phone a second time but still the problem persists.
I guess I have no choice but to put my hope in Samsung support. It's a real kick in the teeth that the nearest official support centre is an hour and a half away from me. I think this will be the last Samsung product I buy.

How?
Forgive me if I'm wrong, but with 4.3 comes with knox and a locked bootloader. I can't load philz or twrp zip from recovery because it errors with an unsigned message and since I can't access download mode I can't use odin.
Shut down your phone. pull the battery out. connect your tether cable to the phone and USB to computer. start oden, put tar file in PDA box. don't change any other settings. Put your phone in download mode by pressing both up/down volume buttons (not Power) and insert the battery. once in download mode, click on Start on oden. As for the bloatware, you are going to get whatever apps that are in the tar file. I think Some of the bloat has been removed. Not sure what, but it seems most of it is still there. I think DriveSmart is gone

These don't appear to be the correct instructions for a N7100. Well, thanks for the bump anyway.
Hi!
Did you try to flash with mobile odin? It might be the solution if you can't access to download mode (which is weird by the way...)
I have same problem
i just flash new bootloader kitkat
"Bootloader If you have MJ5 or later bootloader then no need otherwise you have to apply Reboot and wifi Fix from post #3 above
You can get idea about current bootloader with info application
If You are not worried about warranty then I strongly recommend to flash Kitkat bootloader.
Here is Kitkat bootloader from N7100_ND3 "
and now my phone was on and it will stuck on samsung logo...
i m also not able to install stock rom
help me to downgrade 4.1 old bootloader.

Thank you!
Mobile odin worked. Got the pro version to thank Chainfire. Also managed to get root thanks to Kingo and I'll be donating to them as well.
Unfortunately even after flashing CM10 it hasn't fixed my sleep problem. Well, maybe I've got a hardware fault after all...funny that it coincided with the 4.3 update. I guess I've voided my warranty now but on the bright side I've finally ditched Samsung's bloatware and stock android. Here's hoping I can find a fix.
