Has Anyone Successfully Rooted The Sprint LG G3? - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I Googled and searched lots of sites have said that ioroot and towelroot work on the G3 for Sprint but I can not get it to work. Can any one else confirm a working method? Thanks.

I tired that but for some reason it doesn't see my phone and the update tool says I'm up to date. I wish I knew what the message means.

not sure, but since your not on the at&t network, you will not able to take their update...the at&t simcard have something to do with the update...I'm on rogers and never be able to update "ota" gonna have to use flashtool if you want the update...

Got it to work by putting in my Att sim( have two phones) then I did a hard reset and then check the update all good now. I'm stock with no root. Just been to lazy to root and such.

I can't see where the OTA file is, so that I can flash it with LG Flash Tools. I'm also kind of worried because some people have been having problems. It's not nearly as easy as flashing a Samsung phone, for sure.
Does anyone know if ATT would let me borrow a sim to try to update it? I only have a T-Mobile sim card....:/

Please search the forum next time. Add of right now there is no T-Mobile root. Some devs are working on a universal for for all of the G3's and there is no ETA for it yet. There is a time l rumor about possibly getting root if and when TWRP comes out but nothing's confirmed yet.

[Q] Any rooting methods for G pad 10.1/8/7?

Hey, i have searched the internet and i havent found any root methods for the new line of g pad tablets. Does anyone know anyone? Im particularly interested in rooting g pad 7 but as the harware is the same in all, it would be possible to also work for all of them. Thank you.
Hi,
I have Gpad 7, and i succefully root it with towelroot
Thanks. Tomorrow i'll have one in my hands. Will try it.
Just got my hands on it. I successfully rooted it with towelroot. Easiest rooting of my life.

Google it. Its a website worked for my s4 on 4.4.2 nc1 but I tried with the gpad and said it was not compatible with it.
Towel root worked for my gpad, s5, g3, and fire TV lol
I have the gpad 7.0 for att and towel root says it's not compatible unfortunately.

Is it the LTE version? Mine is WiFi only and worked perfectly.

Yes its the LTE version. But after continuing to research I was able to root using the purpledrake method!!
https://towelroot.com
Worked like a champ. Quick and easy. G pad 10.1 Wifi.
G Pad 7.0 LTE AT&T. Towelroot did not work for me but PurpleDrake did.
CM11/Custom Rom V400
Do you know if theres CM or other custom rom for LG G PAD 7 (v400)?
Tks
Not yet, you would need to wait until we get development off the floor with at least a custom recovery.
Has anyone tried Purpledrake on a Verizon G Pad 10.1 LTE? Just picked one up and am eager to root it, but don't want to brick it right off the bat!

I tried Towel Root but it said my device isn't compatible. I see that Purple Drake worked for the G Pad 7 LTE but I wonder if anyone tried it on the G Pad 10.1 LTE. I'd be willing to try it if I knew that trying wouldn't possibly brick my unit (like Towel Root -- if it can't do it, it tells you or just reboots).
Unfortunately I think you are one of the first with the lte version. I can't speak for purple drake I have never used it myself.

Well, I tried Purpledrake and it told me my Verizon LG G Pad 10.1 LTE isn't running a compatible software version, so it didn't work. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm open to hearing them!
That stinks if you find anything let us know.

G3 ports!

Now that the actual sprint g3 is out... Does anyone plan on porting that to our phones? I've tried the other g3 ports but their simply broken for our sprint variants, but the roms are really cool (go go stupid cdma).

Artifesto, on 2faced.com will work on g2 and yes there are still some bugs. But he is the only one working on it for CDMA. Tried taking the stock sprint g3 rom, but won't load.
He hasn't given up though.

CloudyG3 is working well for me, much better than his other ports. I have 4g, mms, etc, without a problem. I just restored your current apns and use hangouts for messaging.
Using on gsm or sprint cdma?

Got a Korean LG G4 - does anybody know how to unlock to work with a UK SIM?

Hi All,
A long time ago I got this device sent to me by an old friend in Korea. I mainly needed it for testing purposes and doing a few videos so it being a Korean version was not an issue.
However now I want to sell this device to someone in the UK but noticed that when I put a UK sim in, it does not work.
Any ideas or fixes how I can get around this?
Thanks in advance!
There are threads for sim unlock in the sprint variant forums, I don't know if they could be helpful for you...
