[Q] unlocked version - updates - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all,
A month ago I bought the M8 in NYC (unlocked, WWE).
I'm currently living abroad (middle east), and for some reason I don't get software updates.
I'm running the 1.12.422.19 version, and I know that there is an update (includes the extreme power saving mode),
but every I check for updates I get "there are no updates available for your phone".
Why is that?
Is there anything I can do about it?
Thanks!

Unlocked wwe is *.**.401.**. Never seen a 422 wwe......

401 is the European unbranded phone,1540 is the US unbranded phone, pretty sure 422 is that funny South American one that doesn't have any updates...could be wrong though
EDIT: Could be the Verizon build going by results when Google-ing 1.12.422.19...

Thanks guys!
So say I want my device to get updates (OTA), I should flash a 401 or 1540 firmware?
Should I change the CID (HTC_017) as well?
Thanks!

1.28.708.10 OTA now available

Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
I got it here in the US on at&t immediately after re-locking bootloader and flashing the 1.26 firmware/ruu/radio
Nothing on Three UK yet, but no surprises there
Just updated. Testing now^^
VF aus here just got the update 1.28.862.9
I wasn't having any major issues with any of the 4 one x's that we own, but we'll see if this causes any!

Nothing in the u.k yet.
The Indian Update
Just got the Indian Update. Updating.... Will let you guys know if there is any difference.
You people do know that the OTA update will most likely update your HBoot?
Which in turn means that it may not be possible to SOFF as soon as the solution comes out.
(Just throwing that out there...)
It did update the HBOOT. Now on 0.94.

If I haven't rooted it yet (nor have I with my HTC legend of old) then I doubt it will happen before the soff is resolved. My one x's are all business phones phones so I don't like messing with them.
Thanks for making people aware tho!
Steve
I'm still in 1.28.401.9 in the UK with Orange.
Can someone screen shot their phone if they've got 1.28.708.10?
Anybody know the changes? Cheers
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
In India it is 1.28.720.10

This is a thread for the Asian OTA - 1.28.401.9 is the latest for UK handsets so you will NOT get this...
If an update has anything other than x.xx.401.x then you won't get it - it's not a hard concept to grasp

Thanks for the heads up... just updated and testing it out now. For those unaware, the firmware version is 1.28, the next 3 digits after that (e.g. 708) is region-specific. In this case, 708 is specific to Hong Kong. So don't worry if you're already on 1.28.xxx.

It's not so much UK-only - it's the EU vendor code. But yeah, we only get x.xx.401.x updates unless you bought the handset from somewhere outside the EU

Ee UK variant. Software update.

Ee in the UK is notorious for not giving software updates. And this is concerning especially with Android L on its way soon! Anyone have any experience dealing with them at all?
They will update the phone, they have to. Not sure where these worries come from. Or s-off and convert the phone to unbranded wwe and have the fastest updates.....
Kinda useless to speculate on this topic, they must update but when they do .... that's something you have to wait for. Patience is the word you need i guess

I've converted to unbranded wwe and I don't seem to be getting the 4.4.3 update here in the UK?
Hopefully I have everything set up right and I will get the update soon.

[Q] Vodafone UK Firmware on M9?

Just received my new M9 from Vodafone UK - I have firmware 1.32.161.15.
Keen to try the most recent firmware updates as reported in various places believe it is x.xx.xxx.33 which has updated camera settings.
Anyone know how to do this on the vodafone UK network? Or have nay idea when it might be released?
Cheers!
Sam
I believe it was only USA versions that needed the camera update. International already had the update on release I think
Ah OK, that's good to know, thanks!

T-Mobile HTC One M8 Radio Update

Hi!
I just S-offed my T-mobile M8 today. Just have a question regarding LTE bands. I'm from the Philippines. I've noticed that my M8 variant is not compatible with the LTE bands supported by the carriers here in my country. I've done my research and saw that the T-Mobile M8 variant uses LTE bands 4 (1700/2100) and 17 (700). My carrier here operates at LTE Band 1 (2100) which is why I can only reach HSPA signal here. So is it possible for me to flash an asian firmware w/ radio update on my device so that I can access LTE connectivity here? If not, is there any other way to do so?
Thank you.

Yes.
Be sure to pick a firmware that supports not just your carrier's LTE band(s) but HSPA also, for full compatibility.
Also be sure to stick to the proper software version. You're most likely on Lollipop software, so only flash a Lollipop version firmware.
Depending on whether the firmware has been hacked, you may need to change your CID and MID to match the firmware.

I see. Thank you. Would you happen to know a thread or repository where I can download the latest Asian firmware? I've searched the forums but found outdated ones.
I've already superCID my M8 and just flashed the GPE firmware that came with the stock Marshmallow ROM. So does this mean, if I want to flash official firmware, I will need to change both my CID and MID to match that of the firmware?

If you give a CID or CIDs for the Asian version (or bettter yet, the correct software number), I may be able to find the firmware.

If its official, YES it will check CID and MID.
Some firmwares may be hacked to remove these checks, or include a longer list of "acceptable" MIDs and CIDs. I believe the GPE firmware your refer to is hacked in one of those ways.
But official firmwares will always check CID and MID.

Nougat Update - Please help

I have an unlocked HTC 10 that I got from Jordan (Middle East)
This is my 6th HTC phone and I'm used to receive the OTA update before other regions do with all other HTC devices I had.
Now I don't get the Nougat Update and Everytime I check it says my phone is up to date (No update)
What could be the problem? It is the region? I looked online but found nothing about region schedules...
I could be wrong but Nougat has been released only for US Unlocked phones. I have this phone and recd OTA.
Nougat OTA has not been released yet for any region other than US. Htc has not stated the exact time frame for the release, and the only reliable information says it's gonna be anywhere between now and beginning of 2017. So ultimately, you won't really know when it comes until your phones shows an available update.

HTC 10 Nougat now has been released worldwide for GSM unlocked units and dev units, and also for ALL US units, the problem is just that carriers want to add their bloat.
I believe, but I might be wrong, European units are also receiving the update.

I have an unlocked HTC 10 and there is no update avaiable in Germany so far...
Is there a way to flash the Android Nougat update manually? Coming from Samsung and Huawei (this is my first HTC), I am used to flashing updates manually if they are not available OTA.
Officially its only the US unlocked/developer phone at the moment. Im not entirely sure whats taking so long for the WWE version (The predicted EU time was end of november/begining of december but its starting to push that a bit IMO). But you can flash the US RUU to your phone by changing the MID to 2PS650000 and the CID to BS_US001 (you need to be S-OFF obviously). It works fine on my phone in the UK (I did change my MID and CID back afterwards). Once the official update comes out, I will install that version over the US one.

Android 8 isn't available yet for the HTC 10, so there is no way for anyone to "take care of it" until HTC releases it.

If you mean you are responding to the opening post you also realize that that specific post is over 1 year old, you really think he still didn't get the update ?
