[MOD] [APK] SplitWindow MOD Maker for G2 stock [KK] roms - G2 Android Development

Based on [MOD] [GUIDE] SplitWindow for G2 stock KK roms thread. And post #60 in particular.
I would like to introduce SplitWindow MOD Maker application [APK]
Since now, the PC is not needed anymore to create the mod for your device. All necessary tools are included into the APK and can be executed on the phone. All tasks (disassembling / patching / assembling / making installer / odexing) are automatically done by single click.
I have to mention once more that the MOD itself is not mine, I've made just automated installer. So give the credits to xdabbeb (see the thread mentioned above).

Requirements:
ROOTed device.
Custom recovery installed.
Time (about 15 minutes).
Backup of /system partition.
How to apply the MOD:
Install the APK attached below.
Run it.
Press the button [Create MOD] and go have a cup of coffee/tea. The process could take a lot of time. On PC it takes seconds, but on the phone it executes for minutes. For me it took about 10-12 minutes to complete.
After APK finished, you need to install created MOD via custom recovery. You can press [Reboot to Recovery] right inside the application to reboot the device into recovery mode.
Do not forget to make backup of /system partition when recovery is loaded.
Choose "Install" and select one of file located in /sdcard/SplitWindowMOD folder (with GPro2 or G3 theme accordingly).
Reboot in normal mode, open Settings->Multitasking and enable new functionality. Then long-press "Back" button and you've done. (If there is no Multitasking settings, anyway try to press and hold "Back" button. Maybe it will work without the settings.)
Some comments:
If you already have SplitWindow installed (previously created by this APK or elsewhere), DO NOT try to recreate the MOD by this application (or at least do not install the result). It will produce unpredictable result and the secondary installation could lead to bootloop. Use the APK on clean system (without SplitWindow functionality) ONLY.
If you successfully installed the MOD, just keep the MOD files (/sdcard/SplitWindowMOD/*.zip) in case you want to restore system from backup in install them again. You do not need to recreate these files each time. Therefore, the APK itself can be uninstalled.

There is no multitasking in settings. Is there a way to remove the apps that you don't really use? Reboot to recovery also doesn't work and says "no such tool", I have to do it manually through power options. When I ran the apk a second time and didn't delete the previous splitwindowmod folder I got stuck in a boot loop, just a warning for anyone who wants to try multiple times. I think all is good now though, works great!

If no Multitasking option is appear in settings after full installation of this mod and you successfully booted. you are lucky. Maybe your ROM is not compatible for this MOD.
There is no such way to remove the MOD from system except to restore from backup. But if the MOD actually works and not needed anymore, just switch its functionality off in the settings.
If the button [Reboot to Recovery] does not work, that's mean there is no command 'reboot' in the system. Strange, mine device does have such command.
SplitWindowMOD folder can be not deleted (it contains only 2 resulted files after each successful run of [Create MOD] action) between multiple tries to create the MOD. But yes, you should use the application ONLY BEFORE the MOD is actually installed. Otherwise, the resulted files are unpredictable and after installing such files bootloop is the most likely what you will get. (Added this notice into the first post)
After installation of MOD and if the MOD works well, you can uninstall the APK, it's not needed anymore, Just keep the resulted files from /sdcard/SplitWindowMOD folder in case if you want to reinstall this mod on clean (restored from backup) system. (Also added this notice into the first post)
P.S. I have no chance to check if this APK works on all LG G2 models, as I have only one of them - D802 20b CIS (it shown on screenshots).

Just tried it. Took 16 minutes to complete for me. Works like a charm on the new 20F base. I also don't have the multitasking button. It just works by holding the back button

Nice work m8. Glad someone else is developing apk's for our G2
Instead of "reboot to recovery" you might add "Install" and then it reboots to recovery and automatically installs the mod.

Interesting... Is it actually depends on ROM whether Multitasking settings exist or not? I have no idea, as I only used the guide to implement automated MOD creation (via this application or by scrips in "guide" thread). Anyway, if it works without settings, you are welcome.

Nice, will test on vase 20d

In this case you will lose the chance to make backup before installing the MOD.

Works like a charm on D802 with German 20D Vodafone

I have vs980 with odexed malladus rom so it must not be fully compatible. What I meant by remove apps is can we remove apps that are in split window app selection that we won't ever use and remove duplicate apps or would that be in the settings?

Just downloaded and used it on Ls980 running stock rooted ZVC Rom and everything is working

No. There is no such setting to adjust the list of apps shown in SplitWindow chooser.
But, if you change the property "persist.splitwindow.support_all=true" in /system/build.prop file to "false", the chooser should show only compatible applications (apps, that have appropriated flag in their manifest files). In anyway you can't customize the list by your own, AFAIK.

no, just add the backup checkmark so installation is after the backup.

I followed the instructions and it appears to have installed fine however when holding the back button it says that there aren't enough apps to use dual mode.
Does anyone else have this problem? Anyone know how to fix this?

Works like charmed on my 802 20D stock. thanks to dev.

This does not work on the CDMA/LTE/Verizon Version, do NOT flash!

I realise there are a few of these floating around but this one is specifically for MCR and MCR derivatives. This will most likely work with other ROM's but I've not tested it so won't make that promise.
Features
Reboot from Power Menu
Reboot to recovery from Power Menu
Menu options in correct order
Shutdown/Reboot confirmation prompt removed
Auto backlight tweaks included (Paul's level 2)
MCR Ir8 framework optimisations included

This update zip replaces critical system files. A bad flash will result in a phone that does not boot. Please make a nandroid backup first!
Running this since seeing over on MoDaCo, but can also confirm your 'generic' APM worked fine on the MCR as well
Prefer the layout of this APM, though - good job!!
EDIT: You say it's 'Paul's level 2' - is this similar to your 'medium' level? Your level seemed to work better than Paul's but it could just be how I see it

Functionally I don't think there are any differences. At first glance though his options are in a strange order. Edit: and as you note he has multiple backlight options.
Perhaps the only other difference, and I can't confirm, is that I used the MCR framework as a base, not the stock framework. As a result this edition retains any optimisations Paul has made... although he isn't explicit about these.
Essentially I wanted it do it and assure compatibility with MCR. I didn't check first whether other version worked on MCR.
Thanks for this. Would it be possible to have a reboot to bootloader option as well & maybe brightness level 1?

Whilst it is possible I don't think I'll make multiple versions although there is another thread with different versions.
Hopefully Paul will consider building this functionality into the MCR kitchen so we'll have all the options!
Works perfect! Thanks

That doesn't surprise me so much... what ROM were you using?
I didn't even see a CDMA version of MCR...
Edit: first post updated to clarify.
There isn't an LTE version of the MCR
i flashed it in recovery mode, and it has been installed correctly... but when i turn off the phone, there are only the 3 default options (airplane, silent and turn off)... it is possible that the mod doesn't work with the stock rom?...
p.s. i have the stock rom, but i have root and superuser apk
You need to be deodexed to use this, so you'll need a custom ROM
now that I flashed it on the stock rom, but not work, it should not cause damage to the phone?
p.s. there is a way to add those two options in the menu' (on the stock rom with root)?
It shouldn't affect things, and no you can't add it to a stock ROM as you HAVE to be odexed to edit them (I could, of course, be wrong here)

I'm surprised your phone booted if it flashed successfully.
No, you'll need a custom rom (de-odexed as stated above) to do this.
last question:
if i press the 3 physical buttons the phone go in fastboot mod (after i can choose recovery mod)... there is a combination of the physical buttons to go directly in recovery mod?

[MOD] [JB4.1+][AOSP+OTA] Super PowerMenu | Reboot & Recovery | DIY Instructions Avail

[MOD] [JB4.1+][AOSP+OTA] Super PowerMenu | Reboot & Recovery | DIY Instructions Avail
INTRODUCTION
Hi everyone, so a while back I created the Enhanced Power Menu for ICS (right here) and now that Jelly Bean it out it's time to do it all over again.
This mod adds the reboot and reboot to recovery options to the standard power button menu in Android 4.1+ Jelly Bean.
FEATURES
Reboot from Power Menu
Reboot to recovery from Power Menu
[*]Long press Recovery on power menu to reboot to Bootloader! (4.1.1 only)
[*]OR: Long press Reboot on power menu to reboot to Recovery! (4.1.1 only)
SCREENSHOTS
First screenshot: Reboot & Recovery menu with (option) to Long Press Recovery for Bootloader in 4.1.1
Second screenshot: Reboot menu with Long Press Reboot for Recovery in 4.1.1

COMPATIBILITY
There are versions below for both Android 4.1 (the Google I/O dump) and Android 4.1.1 AOSP builds available below.
This will break any mods you've made to either framework-res.apk or android-policy.jar. You can check if these files are touched by other mod by inspecting the files that came with that mod.
If for any reason your ROM or mod are incompatible with the Enhanced Power Menu the likely result is a bootloop. If you're not familiar with adb in recovery then make sure you make a backup in recovery!
REQUESTS
None accepted sorry, there are too many mod variations out their to satisfy them all so I won't even try.

Thanks.
Now if someone would give us the quiet hours feature that would be all I need

djmcnz, thanks!
But can you write manual how to do it with full description of android.policy.jar editing? I'm porting some elements from framework-res.apk of modaco rom, and fully port android.policy.jar. It works, but I can't understand, how it works.

[MOD]s for GPe 4.4 KitKat (APM, transparent lock screen, 2 line date)

I've been running 4.4 KitKat GPe (for the last few days, and have found some things that needed a slight changing so I thought I'd share my mods. First mod will make the status bar transparent in the lockscreen, a great compliment to the tranparent status bar in the GEL launcher (thanks to the random walkthrough I found but didn't bookmark). When pulling down the status bar, the date beside the time is currently one line with an abbreviated weekday. The second mod will make it two lines with a full weekday (thanks CM team). APM is a simple APM (props to @kahvitahra for this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1573032) guide) APM_Menu gives you APM, and changes the extended actions of the home button. With this mod a long press will open Recent Apps and douple tap will open menu. It will also remove the 3 dot nav bar from apps that still use it. All flashable in recovery, odex and deodex versions of APM and 2 line date, tran status bar will work with both odex or deodex.
Note: Hot Reboot in APM may not work. You'll need to download busybox installer from google play. Select "advanced" install and install all symlinks ( or just pkill ) - now hot boot should work..if not I'll play around a little more. But bootloader, shut down, reboot, and recovery are working.
Downloads here - CURRENTLY ONLY FOR USE IN A DALVIK RUNTIME ENVIRONMENT. If someone knows what needs to be done to keep the mods ART compatible, I'm all ears! If you didn't read this before flashing on an ART enabled device, the back to stock zip here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47969145&postcount=13) will get you back up and running.

The APM menu options are English, the buttons will be multilingual though
This is a pretty basic implementation of APM, so it's not using strings that are available to be translated.

Attached to this post is another attempt at 2_line_date.odex, please give it a shot. Just FYI I did test all of these on my device (odex in a dalvik environment) before uploading, they do work for me..
Edit: just in case that doesn't work, i also attached a back to stock that will revert the apm and 2 line mods with stock systemui and android.policy.jar and their corresponding stock odex files. I don't know enough about ART to know why it would stick you in a loop...like I said, they're working fine for me on dalvik. Let me switch to ART and see if I loop..
Edit 2: yea i get no boot with ART as well.. I'll update the OP to reflect that, at least for the time being, these mods will only be compatible in a Dalvik environment. back to stock zip appeared to fix this. Anyone have any thoughts on this? I don't know a whole lot about ART? (My process for these mods was to deodex, make the mod, then reodex making sure the signatures were retained in both the apk/jar and odex, and work as expected in Dalvik)

Thank you for trying, I don't know enough about ART either to be helpful enough to resolve the issue. I do know its use outweighs my need for APM at this point. I will use the backtostock to gte back in a bootable state.

Sorry about that. Just curious, did you attempt wiping cache (and Dalvik, though I assume in an ART environment Dalvik cache isn't used? Again, no clue about ART except damn, it's taking forever to optimize apps.. lol)
@homeslice976 when editing jar files I've noticed has been breaking art I'm searching a way around it...might be the way smali etc is being decompiled and recompiled

Not quite sure what you're asking for. Do you have a link for an example?

Not really, but here's a screenshot of it (sorry for the bad quality, got it off of Google images )
Also, Gravity Box has an option to enable it, but it requires Xposed, which switches back to dalvik.

[ROM][UNOFFICIAL] Omni + Floating Windows + Lockscreen Notifications + App Circle Bar

I added Floating Windows (resizable and movable), Lockscreen Notifications and App Circle Bar features to OmniROM and built for our Galaxy Tab (p1/l/n). I built from sources of 4th August. ROM is compatible with P1, P1L and P1N. Kernel is stock Omni kernel.
Download from here: http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23578570567723178
Installation:
Firstly, go to recovery mode and do factory reset. Then go to advanced and wipe "/system".
After wiping system, select install zip option and choose my zip. If your recovery is old, that is not a problem and you don't have to install a newer recovery, because while installing the ROM, the zip will also install latest version of TWRP. Then your device will reboot to TWRP automatically. After rebooting to TWRP, your device will continue installation. Then go to main menu of TWRP and install GApps (I use PA Mini Modular GApps). Voila, you installed the ROM.
So, how to enable Lockscreen Notifications or Floating Windows?
For enabling Lockscreen Notifications, go to Settings/Security/Lockscreen/Notifications and touch to "enable".
For enabling App Circle Bar and optional Floating Windows, go to Settings/More... and tick "App Circle Bar". Touch to "Included Apps" and add your favorite apps to App Circle Bar. And if you touch right top corner of your device, you will see App Circle Bar. Spin the bar and select an app to open, if you want to open an app in floating window, long press to app icon in app circle bar and select floating mode option. You can open infinite apps in floating window.

I owned a tmobile T849.
Yes you can install this rom.
But you are in froyo, there is a high chance that your bootloader is locked.
T849 usually is locked.
You can follow overcome method, linked to at my signature.
The pdf document covers that.
Basically you need to root your froyo.
Then install a bootloader checker. If it is locked, it offers to patch it.
Once that is done, you then restock to GB stock save v5. Then install overcome kernel, which give you cwm5.
This is the point where you stop following the guide.
Use cwm to flash omni.

Actually I should clarify that I haven't tried this rom. I run the official Omnirom.
But T849 is just like p1 in every aspect except for the modem hardware and firmware.

WETA is a rom for Music geeks like me, though because we are still waiting on TWRP to become available i'd thought i'd make these MODs to flash in the meantime.
How to install...
This method is redundant from V2.0 forward
1. Make sure you are on Stock firmware and have rooted device
2. Download mod zip
3. Install this app "Root Browser"
4. Extract the zip (click and hold, select extract) using Root Browser directly into Download folder. (you should have /sdcard/Download/(zip name) as folder with files in it)
5. Go into Download/(zip name) folder and select script for desired Emoji.
6. Tick "Execute script as root"
7. Then select the Execute button
8. It will say "Executing script"
9. Once complete you should have a popup box with no errrors.
10. Device will reboot automatically

I guess I should have asked you if this script was safe to install on both Pixel devices. My device is acting funny after installing this script. My on-screen keys (back, home and app switcher) wasn't showing up in the Chrome browser. Then shortly after that the device displayed the "System UI has stopped" message again and this time it isn't remedied by simply plugging in the USB cable. Have you run into similar issues on your end?
Nope. And this should be most definitely universal. Maybe even across all Android devices. It's only swapping out a font. So can't see how it would affect SystemUI. Did it reboot? It will crash you keyboards etc of you don't reboot.
If you are having SystemUI issues and you are using one of my ui mods.. I will be doing some updates on those tonight as well as I have found a better method for applying the mods. It may fix a few SystemUI crashes.
My phone automatically rebooted after installing the mod. The problem appeared as soon as I clicked on an e-mail link and it opened up my browser. Shortly after that the phone read the "System UI has stopped" message. I couldn't do anything to get the message to go away. I just wound up flashing the latest firmware and rerooting my device again.

This mod is not the cause of your problem. We are talking about one single file that is placed in a location that would not affect SystemUI. Root for the pixel has persisting issues with SystemUI crashes. Have you got any other mods you are using at the moment. Because that probably matters more..
Please let me know what version of Supersu you are using.
And if you are using any WETA ui mods. (they have been updated, so update if you havent already.)
What firmware are you on?

Hmmmm...I had "Emoji Switcher (root)" from the Play Store downloaded onto my device. I originally tried changing my fonts using that app. Do you think there was some conflicts with me trying to use your mod along with that app?

That app does exactly what my zip does. Dumps the font file into system/fonts
Can you answer those other questions i asked you?
--->
I was using v2.78-SR3 of SuperSU.
Oddly, I was on "NDE63L." No updates were ever pushed to my device for some reason.
I did not have any other mods other than your Viper4Android and AdAway installed on my device when it started malfunctioning.

Thanks for this! :good:
One thing: The Samsung emojis are slightly smaller than stock and all the other sets of emojis. Their placement looks a little out of place.
Does this mod work with Dirty Unicorns 7.1.1 for Nexus 6P?
Thanks
