[Q] Any reliable warranties that don't cost an arm and a leg? - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I just recently got the AT&T variant of the LG G3 and chose not to buy the 9.99 a month warranty because I did it for my last phone and the service was mediocre at best and I had to pay over $200 deductible. So I was wondering if anyone else had any experience with any other warranty companies like square trade or protect your bubble. Their prices look appealing, but I have no idea if they cover what they claim to cover so just wanted to see if anyone did.

SquareTrade is really good. I've been using them for all my phone's and other house hold electronics devices. They will replace your phone or give you the full price of your phone back.

Upgrade Phone through Amazonwireless

I just ordered a droid incred 2 (pending approval via verizon) for a penny. Anyways, I understand the contract with amazon, but wondering if anyone else has done it. Its a 6 month contract with amazon or pay a $250 fine, I just can't default or cancel my verizon account. Seems like a good deal on a phone for upgrading to another 2 year contract.
I did a similar deal through Wirefly when I upgraded to my Dinc2 a few months back. I looked at buying from Amazon as well, and really there wasn't much difference other than the cost of a penny. Considering what Verizon was selling the Dinc2 for, it was a no brainer to me... Hmm free, or I could spend 150 bucks... Pretty easy one there
If your not planning on cancelling your Verizon account, there really shouldn't be any problems.
I have upgraded through amazon couldn't be happier

I wasn't able to get it through Amazon, but I got mind for $30 at Costco. Lol
Sent from my rooted, MiUi/Go Launcher EX combo.
well, i hope i get it. I haven't received an email saying it was approved from verizon yet.

All right, i received the confirmation email from verizon. I should receive my phone by Sept 21. Then i can fully unlock it.

[Q] Considering Selling due to NO warranty for US users???

Considering selling my GSM Galaxy Nexus. I heard that samsung will not honor the 1 year manufactures warranty if your in the US because in order for you to get the phone in the US you would have had to have it internationally shipped. WTF? Anybody hear anything different? Or can confirm this?
This surprises you?
Buy a warranty from Ensquared. It's like 60 bucks for two years.
Yep. Samsung doesn't honor int'l warranty in the USA. Go figure.

MANY companies are this way, not just cell phones.
If you bought it from negri, they'll honor the year warranty.
That is why square trade is in business, I purchase a square trade warranty on all my big purchases wheather they are under warranty in the U.S. or not. They do not mess around they give you what you paid for the purchase instead of making you jump through hoops.Plus they cover water damage no questions asked.
Square trade won't cover the Galaxy Nexus GSM.. unless you are some kind of sorcerer..
I just checked with Securranty (A Square Trade competitor) and they do NOT cover an item unless it has more than 90 days remaining on the manufacturer's warranty.
I specifically asked them if I purchased a GSM Galaxy Nexus from a US seller and the phone was NOT covered by the Samsung manufacturer's warranty, would they sell/cover my phone. The answer was no.
Would the phone be covered by ANY warranty, i.e. Samsung Europe? If so, I wonder if that would suffice for the Securranty coverage since it is technically covered by the manufacturer but would require shipment to Samsung Europe?
On the same note, I am looking on Amazon and the seller Transformersandgsmphones for the GSM Galaxy Nexus tells me that the phone is covered by US Warranty after I register it on www.samsung.com. This seems to contradict other users' experience.
Just thinking of a way around this since moving to Verizon is not an option. I really want the Galaxy Note, but I'm on T-Mobile so that's a no-go for EDGE only.

Do you mean because it is not a US distributed (or whatever the term is) phone? Or, is it just because Square Trade doesn't cover high end phones?
Negri will cover it up to one-year. Instead of going to Samsung, you will have to go to the place you bought it from. I believe Expansys has something similar to this too.

They won't cover it because it is not US distributed.. Supposedly Ensquared will cover it though, I believe a member here has a warranty through them.
I just checked with Square Trade and they seem to cover phones without a US manufacturer's warranty, but not until the 61st day after purchase of the Square Trade Warranty.
Square Trade FAQ
I have sent a detailed message to Square Trade to see if this applies to a non-US manufacturer's warranty or if it means a phone without a warranty at all.

I also just checked with American Express and their extended warranty only applies to a phone with a US manufacturer's warranty of less than 5 years. However, it seems that their purchase protection against loss or theft applies ($1000 per claim and $50,000/cardmember/year) so that may be something at least.

Ok, trying not to thread crap, but I'm so ready to trade up from my N1 to the Galaxy Nexus.
I called Expansys-USA and was told that their phones come with an international warranty, not a US warranty and that they would "assist" me with warranty repairs if needed. I asked what that meant and was told that I would have to pay for shipping to their Illinois location and they would transfer the phone to their French office for warranty repairs...augh.
I'm planning on keeping my N1 for some time since it is still such a good phone, but can't imagine how long that would take if they sent the phone to France. I would hazzard a guess that I wouldn't get my phone back for a month in that case.
Just wanted to update.

Replacement parts website review

I am going to review a site called www papadigitals com.
I ordered a screen assembly for my Samsung Skyrocket on the 6th of this month. Yesterday, I had still not received a shipping notification. I decided to e-mail them to ask why. They responded saying they were out of stock. Why did I have to email them to find this out? They made no effort to contact me to let me know. My payment of $200.99 cleared the same day I ordered. I responded asking for a refund and have not been contacted again. Do not do business with these people. Customer service is non existent.
i also bought an item from papadigitals com. when i placed an order, i got an email next day. told me the item was out of stock. asked me if i can wait.
but i was in hurry, so i cancel the order. and got the refund very soon. i think it is not too bad.
Thanks. Anyone else have reviews on some other cellular phone replacemnt parts vendors ? - Thanks

It would be nice if we had a "for sale" thread in this forum though.
One for Europe and one for North America. And everyone posts their accessories for sale ONLY in one of those two threads. Keep 'em all in one place.
Just so we don't have to go wading through dozens of adds to find something for OUR phone for sale.
If you really bought it 4 days ago Why don't you return it?
+1 you got Best Buy robbed.

UK VR

Any news on when this will be available in the UK? None of the shops seem to know.
TBH I was hoping for this to be included as the US was. Not a chance. Cheers Sammy for us loyal customers sticking with you esp after Note7gate.
I've read this is going to be available to order on the same day the S8 comes out in the UK. As you put, information is very sparse on this in the UK. I'll post the source if i can find it again.

The 28th hopefully
Luckily I'm on holiday until that date so I can't preorder the phone or VR until then anyway. Should be able to order both on that date.
Hmm so the guy at CPW said it'll be around £130, yet the headset is the same as last years model but with a controller. So actually it'll be far cheaper to buy a 2016 VR2 and the new controller. Shoulda kept the freebie from the note 7!
FYI this is now in stock at least at cpw.
