Qi charging not working on the T-Mo G3 - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just what it says on the tin there. I have a Qi charger that I used with my Nexus 5 no problem, but it's not registering the G3. Is it temperamental with which ones it accepts, is there a setting I need, or what?

Not sure about the T-Mobile model, but I am pretty sure you need to buy a separate back cover that supports wireless charging. I have the AT&T version, which not only requires a $40 back cover, but also a PWA charger, as it doesn't support QI standard. Stinking greedy US carriers!
Sent from my LG-D850 using Tapatalk

Oh I see. So it SUPPORTS Qi charging, but it doesn't have it right out of the box. Okay, little dishonest on their part, but I'll go with it.

There is a $10 option available for a QI/NFC sticker that should work for all but AT&T.

This has not been tested yet, but I have 2 on order for my sprint version.

They aren't being dishonest. The US LG site says Qi charging is optional and T-Mobile doesn't list it as a spec. After the global version had it, a lot of American websites came out saying it had it and didn't mention it was the International version which isn't really their fault either. Carriers making a deal to not allow wireless charging out of box on their phones isn't ethical business practice though, but LG isn't at fault there either.

Anyonr have which backs and chargers they r using I dont want to buy wrong one

Do the backs that support charging add much thickness to the phone? Are they high quality material?

F400 G3 OEM BACK DOES NOT WORK on US Models
I ordered the F400 on eBay. Mistake. It does not work with the US variant. They moved all 4 of the pins needed for NFC and charge and added a gap as some have pointed out already. But just explicitly letting you know the F400 back won't work with T-Mobile version. The $10 sticker on Ali Express seems like the way to go. Here is the link: http://goo.gl/3GlBju Type 1 is most common for US variants like the T-Mobile D851.

They are the exact same thickness as the stock battery cover. So zero added bulk and the feel is identical to the stock one.

Anyone know where to buy the Pogo Desktop Dock?

Now that the Nexus 4 is out, it looks like Google is no longer selling the Galaxy Nexus pogo dock. Does anyone know where I should look without being charged an arm and a leg?

eBay, search the topic and you will find pages of discussions and attempts to find the docks from google and/or Samsung
Yeah haha ^
You will be charged an arm and a leg, though. And Verizon ones tend to be more expensive. The docks originally cost $90 new, and now people can sell theirs and make at least that, auctions on eBay can take it up to $120+ and they only pop up every few days.
Best bet is to pounce on a buy it now as soon as possible, then you'd only have to pay $80 or so. Just make sure it's the Verizon dock if you have the VZW GalNex and vice versa.

I am looking to get one too. I don't want to buy the one of ebay. Anyone willing to part with their GSM pogo dock if they aren't using it? I'll offer $40. Or any tips on where I can get a used one in working condition? Amazon doesn't have any, Play obviously doesn't have them on sale anymore. Found a few with bundles on swappa, but seller wouldn't sell it separately. Ebay as mentioned above is shipping from UK and it comes out to like $90 with shipping.

PM me if anyone is interested in getting a brand new one.

And that's where I got mine ^ recommend him highly!
I'm embarrassed at what I paid for mine, and that was a used one on ebay plus I had to modify it for the toro. I needed it though I've been using a dock on my phones every night for the past few years and wasn't about to give that up. Trust me, these things are damn near extinct and the people who have them know that.
MonoPrice has a nice adaptor for the Galaxy Nexus. I can't post links yet (under 10 posts), but it's product ID 9291
I was thinking about making a dock that uses the internals from that part.
I saw a Verizon Pogo dock going for $180 on eBay the other day... Ugh I hate price gougers...

Questions for those who purchased an international n5100

Hey,
I just purchased an n5100 from Amazon. This is my first time buying an international device and not a US device, so I have a few questions. It looks like I got a model meant to be sold in a Spanish-speaking country, since the box and the writing on the back of the tablet are in Spanish.
1. The box had no seal to break through. I know on the Wifi models sold here and in the unboxing videos I've seen online, there are stickers to cut when you are opening the box. Should I be worried that there is no seal, or are there countries where this is sold unsealed?
2. No headphones are included. In the unboxing videos for the 3g model, I've seen they come with headphones. Do they all come with headphones?
3. Will I encounter any unexpected issues with having an international model?
4. How does Samsung handle warranty issues on international models?
Thanks in advance!
I'll attempt to answer some of my own questions since I decided to power the thing on
I found a few more unboxing videos and saw that not all the 3G versions do include the headphones. So I guess that's not an issue. One thing that's nice about the version I received is that it came with a US-compatible power adapter.
So far, no unexpected issues with having an international model. When powering it on, it defaults to English, and you can select your language from that first screen. When starting the Google Play store, it asked me what country. I selected US, and I was able to begin downloading my apps. That was one of my worries.
So far, this looks pretty nice. I was trying out the Wifi model, and decided based on that experience that I wanted to have the 3G option. I guess the next step is to stick my microsim in and see how that works
Congratulations! My one had a seal, but no headphones. I also got extras with my deal - a free official pouch stand, 16GB microSD, and 2 months free Internet with a local service provider.
No idea how warranty issues are handled, sorry.
There is a seal
There are no included headphones.
Why would you have any more problems than a Wifi version?
Warranty depends on the policy of Samsung where the device is originally for. My guess is you have no warranty

I guess it depends where yours came from

I've had my I ter national note 8 for about 3 weeks now. It came unsealed so that the retailer will know which converter to send with it. U have no warranty, and can't even register it on Samsung website. That said, u might want to try wentworthave (dot) com or protectyourbubble (dot) com... I've used pyb before for a claim and they're pretty good wentworthave doesn't have deductibles.. I'm thinking of switching.
I received my note yesterday also through a retailer on Amazon. Mine was sealed and all in english. It defaulted to British english and I was able to register it on the Samsung UK website. In doing so, I received the dropbox promotion of 48 GB for 2 years for free! The retailer included an adapter for charging in the main shipping box so they did not have to open the tablet's box. I contact Samsung US and they confirmed there is no warranty for it here. I have it covered on Square Trade. I just hope not to have to use it.

OMG Is my P605 a fake.

Just checked over my device and some you tube video posts.. a few things.
I got the P605 from ATGSM.com.
The box was sealed with sticker and all.
Inside the box there were no replacement stylus tips (as seen in all the you tube reviews)
Also the box does not look like any of the boxes i see in the reviews. I take it that the version they shipped me is originally the Hong Kong.
There were no specs on the box.
Did I get a fake...a clone....... What do I do now. I can post a pic of the box if you need to see it.
I need some serious help. I paid over $700 for this device. I just want to make sure its the real deal. Especially seeing how there are so many fakes out there. Please help.

I bought a P605 via Negri Electronics a couple of weeks ago, and it was in an identical box to the one in your picture. My box also didn't have any spare stylus tips. Also had a Hongkong style adapter, which Negri provided a US adapter in the outer package.
I suppose the HK version just doesn't come with spare tips?

I bought my N-8000 and SM-P601 from Negri and had no issues. The only problems I heard regarding the N3 and Negri was that some carrier devices they sold, mostly T-Mobile, that had their IMEI's reported stolen after people received them and started using them. Since Negri doesn't build devices and most of what they sell is grey market and imported from other countries they are kind of at the mercy of their suppliers. As far as I know they stood behind the devices with bad IMEI's and replaced or refunded them. If you're in the U.S. and buying a SM-P601/5, no matter who you're buying it from, you're taking a chance as to its origins, condition, and country of sale (which can't be the U.S. because neither is sold here). And know that none of them have a Samsung warranty because they're grey market. Negri, Expansys, and NewEgg are the biggest sellers of Samsung grey market devices in the U.S. and I've purchased from all three. My experiences have been fine but I've heard complaints (some horror stories) on all three. With grey market goods there's no such thing as Best Buy. And Amazon doesn't count; all their unlocked devices are sold via marketplace sellers.

I'd read the thread before I bought my P-601 from them. All their Samsung HSPA devices come from the Samsung dealer in Trinidad. They had the P601 before anyone else reselling them in the U.S. did and it arrived in its shrink wrap and was perfect. The shrink wrapped Trinidadian N-8000 I got last year arrived with a bad display. Negri paid return shipping and overnighted me a new one (which was perfect). I asked where their LTE P-605's came from and they said Asia. I personally am not interested in any Asian-sourced imports because the s/w and Hub access are funky when used in the U.S. Software wise, Trinidad and Latin America are the most compatible. That's why I got a P-601. When people ask me where to buy Samsung grey market devices I mention the three company's above. I share my experiences (and the horror stories, lack of warranty, and other risks) and tell them to avoid PayPal (Amazon Payments is an option with Negri) and use a "customer friendly" credit card like Amex. I'm sorry some people got burned over the N3 but it doesn't change my positive experiences.
Same problem but got the solution.

Nokia DT-900 wireless charger $5 or less today! (US Only)

Nokia Wireless Charger on sale today at ATT stores - $5. If you get 3+ its 25% off further
I just picked up 4 of these for $16 with local store pickup.
If you're in the market for a wireless charger, this is a STEAL! Run, don't even think about it. Pretty sure these will be all gone soon.
Online is already sold out. So you'll need to enter your zip code and see if any local ATT stores have them in stock.
Nice review of the charger here:

Sold out everywhere around me as well. That's upsetting. Android Central tweeted about this yesterday/today and I normally read all my tweets and I somehow missed it. Would have ordered a couple.
Got excited because my local store had them "in stock" ordered 3, drove down, someone else picked up the last one right before I got there. Everywhere around me is now out of stock. Bummer.

Yeah, when I checked online for local inventory, almost 10 stores all had them in stock. I ordered 4 but when I went to pick up they only had 3 in stock. Then when I got back to my office, everyone couldn't believe how cheap I got them for and wanted to order some too. So when we looked online for local pickup, ALL 10 stores were sold out. That was in a 2 hour timeframe.
Are they clearance'ing these out or something?
I bought 3 back when I got my N5. Great charger. I use one at work, sent one to a friend, and still have one in a box at home.

We have the pins for it but the backplate that ships with it doesn't support it. Nothing yet available.
yes and no. you have to buy the $60 dollar flip case from LG to be able to do wireless charging. then once you get the case you need to either buy LG's Qi wireless charging stand or another Qi charger.
yea i dont get it, europe version have the wireless charging, but they took it off for usa versions
so you have spend more money for back cover

Just the carriers soaking you for accessories. The parts cost is about $1, so really, it's a no-brainer to include it.
Amusingly, Verizon is the only one not screwing their customers this way. Go figure.
This and lack of root are the biggest reasons I'm not buying one right now. Root will come, unlocked bootloader and all, it's inevitable. But I'm not paying $60 for a $1 feature. When I can get verified working parts for about $20 or so, without a flip case, I'll reconsider. Or maybe the ZeroLemon battery. I like it on my Note and they claim to be making one for the G3.

Perhaps not. I was going on what appeared to be consensus on here. It could be wrong.

I got ready and capable mixed up. So unless there are verizon g3 phones in the hands of people we can trust and know what there talking about who knows? If the preorder site says qi charging ready that means you need to buy the back plate if it says capable that should mean it already has the qi back. If it just says it has qi charging I bet it won't have the back.
