Is there anyway to change the range for auto brightness? - T-Mobile LG G3

My girlfriend has the AT&T model and, side by side with both phones on autobrightness, hers is brighter. This, I'm assuming, is because when auto brightness is set on her phone, she can set the range for how dim or how bright it goes while on T-Mobile there is no way to change the slider while on auto — it's either on predefined auto or its on manual.
So is there any way to go about getting my screen brighter while on auto like hers?

Just curious, with the phones side by side, does the T-Mobile one look more yellowish?

Dude really? You already started a thread with this topic, why would you hijack this poor guy thread? Your question has already been answered. It doesn't matter which carrier some phone have more of a yellowish tint then others. Its just look of the draw it has nothing to do with carriers.
Didn't you already look at a hundred phones in one day and determine some have a dimmer look to others?

Are you sure you can adjust the brightness slider while auto brightness is checked? You sure you're not adjusting the volume slider instead? Reason I ask because my brother has a Verizon version and he just like our Tmobile he can't adjust the slider either.
But I have to agree like every other LG phone I had, auto brightness is totally useless and it keeps the phone too dim for my liking.

Positive. I tested it out from the display menu (AT&T doesn't have sliders in the quick settings). If your brother's Verizon is the same as ours, then this is a quirk/perk of the AT&T model. Her AT&T can potentially be brighter or dimmer while still on auto brightness.

My question to him was on topic - he's comparing screens side by side from two different carriers. Most people with screen issues have the T-Mobile variant, so yeah, it's relevant.

Sprint Samsung Galaxy S2 Epic 4g Touch LCD LED Differences etc.. and issues

here is the desc to a video i put up .. any s2 owner (infact pda) owner should pay attention. .
the issues with the phone and How sprint is Recalling some of these will come in my next video Yes they are Recalling Units For Special Testing>>
Sprint Samsung Galaxy S2 Epic 4g Touch LCD LED Differences etc..
First off the reason i changed out phones.
the phone wouldn't call 911 or anyone else when it doesn’t feel like it.
When you dial 911 it should put the phone in E mode thus full Control and full power and high priority on network.
(ill post a video about that resolution)
In short it just dials hangs up and you do it again till it connects.
IE the transmitter is CRAP
This call failure issue has been going on since this phone came out. (When i got it) but just got worse and worse.
sprint corp sent me this phone not from telesales etc.. (watch the other video that is coming soon about the whys etc of the replacement phones. and you will find that funny as much as interesting.
This Video shows a few things.
there is a HUGE difference in Tolerances for LED and LCD Color Binning Thus the quality of display and photos are not similar from one e4gt to another.
also shows there is something funky about the Automatic Backlight. The Unit Going back dims the LCD to much and is slow to respond to light changes in the room. (this issue was on the China Made S2s not the Korea Made S2s i had 2 of the Koreas and not an issue i had 3 Chinas and there was the isssu.
Also shows the phone going back rebooted by itself (I have seen that before)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OoQaj-AM9XY&hd=1
Are you using the phone in stock form? The 911 issue was fixed long ago.
Sent from my Galaxy S II, AOKP style.
wed all like to think/hope that 911 Fix wored.
yes stock rom all current updates applied.
My new phone (left)came from Sprint Corp Inside (like VIP fullfillment) as its ESN is one of the first (Even lower than the one i bought when this first came out)
IE this is stock at the corp office from initial shipment.
(confirmed it was shipped from VIP fullfillment at sprint corp)
right fone is from local store
corp wants my phones for testing and i wasnt going into store to swap so they just pushed a fone from corp LOL>>
the phone has a known issue of not wanting to initilize a outbound call thus you have to redial to get it to go threw
your phone would act like making call then fail out right at 0.01 0.0 seconds
The galaxy s2 has an amoled screen. So it doesn't have a backlight or an LCD a screen.
What are you trying to say here?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
ya when i was doing the video i was basically going over the color binning in lcd, amoled, plasma oled etc...
IE keeping it general. Yes i know these dont have LED backlight However they do still have color bining and so other phone users could understand the binning concept.
my goal here is to let others see that there is color bining and you can get way different screens and LEDs (on the back) that are not the same and can affect color rendering... on the display and recording (if led is to white or yellow )
more of a FYI than any thing else.

Man i been trying to tell people that some epics have extra warm orangish color.
I returned 2 black epics to amazon and echganged it for white one now my screen temperature is cool-white and not yellowish.
I am sure there is a difference in the brightness and color between the displays, but for the really drastic difference with the browser (more than the rest of the UI), you might want to look at the browser settings. That app has brightness settings independent of the brightness in settings for the rest of the UI.

It is fairly common (whether its Epic, Nexus, ET4G) to see inconsistent screens. There are some lemons here and there. Even if you look in the Nexus forum you will see people complaining about Voodoo color settings not looking good and such.

Nah,im trying to say that there was probably a batch of about 1000-10000 defective black epics on amazon,so i figured i take my chances with white one and glad i did because screen is normal and looks better than black one
I remember i had same issue with iphone 3gs,my screen was yellowish and colors looked washed out.So i trade it in for another one and another one. Then reps at apple store pulled some out and they was yellow too.So they was trying to tell me that they are all like that,so i told them to look at phones they had on display, display iphones where all normal. So sense everything they had in stock was with defective yellow screen and people who was buying them just didnt know any better, they had to give me a refund.

I'm not doing the update yet. I'm going to wait until it is dark. What I'm thinking is Nokia's "fix" may just be removing the lowest dimming settings. If that is the case then those of use with working phones will actually have our working devices "crippled." Gonna see if I can video tape the difference... assuming there is one. Trying to understand the OLED screens.
Can the Rogers users flash the AT&T firmware or would the phone become locked to AT&T or Locked to Rogers again?

I had the purple hue setting and can confirm that the lowest brightness setting is still available. they did not take it away. On the contrary, it seems like they made the automatic 'low' brightness setting even lower than the 'low' manual setting.
I am not sure if this was the case prior to the update but what i had seen earlier, at least in a Samsung focus was was when you set brightness to 'Low' manually, and then changed it to automatic brightness, the lowest automatic brightness was equivalent. Now, the lowest automatic brightness is lower than the 'low' in manual.
Can anyone confirm this with their non-update lumia?

That is the way it was prior to the update. I'm just wondering if both low settings are putting out the same absolute number of lumens as the pre-fix settings.
I don't know that you can go back and forth with ROMS. I removed the Nokia flashing software from my computer and I don't want to hassle with it. So I am going to test and then do the update and see if there is a difference. I just need an objective way of being able to see a difference... if one exists.
Posted on a different forum. This is how the iOS works and looks like WP7 is supposed to as well.
Autobrightness is working, but it does look like it works differently than it did in the past.
Before, if you had auto brightness on and the brightness (level) set to low, the screen would go from the lowest brightness to the highest brightness depending on the ambient light. As long as auto brightness was on, it did not matter what the brightness setting was. The screen would adjust from the dimmest to brightest.
Now, it appears that the brightness setting affects the bias of automatic brightness. For example, if I have auto brightness on and the brightness is set to low, the screen will not get bright enough to read in the direct sun.
I now have auto brightness on, and I have the brightness level set to high. All seems well.
Based on reading some user guides for WPs, I think this is the way it was supposed to work all along. So, it looks like auto brightness not only works; it works as it should.

I'm wondering the same thing. I haven't seen it come back yet, but sometimes, it was sporadic.
Also, I didn't have the purple hue issue, but I don't notice any difference on automatic brightness from before. Might be due to me not previously having the issue, not sure.

I still have my Focus, and yes, it's buttery smooth. But, I'd be happy to trade you for your Lumia...
I'm just generally upset about my whole experience.
First, I was going to get the 900 when the $100.00 software-bug credit was there, but Rogers came back and said the $100.00 nokia rebate was only for new customers, not existing. Apparently existing customers had to pay not only full pop, but we weren't even eligible for the "month to month" price, we had to pay a higher cost for an "existing customer full buyout".
Then I accidentally break my focus, and get the 900. Returned it over 5 times, all had the purple issue.
The lag issue sucks, the battery issue sucks. I've accidentally let the phone completely discharge twice, and the last time I almost wasn't able to get it back (took over an hour to get it to power up).
Don't get me wrong, the phone is slick, beautiful design, specs are nice, etc... But I'm just getting SOOOO agitated at the Rogers/Nokia combo of issues.
Edit: I'm just ornery and having a bad day. Just extremely choked that Canadians didn't get the update as well... I tweeted Rogers, and they said they have nothing to do with it, they said it's all in Nokia's ballpark and they have nothing to do with the update process.

How on earth would they not implement that feature.....!
There they are, glowing quiet bright and noticeable - configurable aswell.
But not good enough to have them flash as a reminder.
Sometimes it really boggles my mind what developers in big companies (or the marketing stategists, who ever decided...) think.
It is beyond me why the soft keys do not work as a reminder in a device that retails at a MSRP of €599,- in europe, thus clearly tarketing the business user segment...

Anyone else get the XL yet?... screen sucks

Got my XL from verizon today. The phone seems pretty solid so far except for the screen. I can pull the same pictures on my old pixel and the new one and compare side by side. Its not even close to being as good as the old pixel...The colors are all washed out with no depth. None of the color settings seem to change that. Im curious if anyone else is seeing this same thing or has any fixes
I haven't got it yet, but judging from the 3 2 XLs I saw in different Verizon stores the screen does indeed suck. Terrible viewing angles and just underwhelming looking at it straight on. Nothing to do with sRGB calibration BTW. I've had lots of devices on sRGB and there were not as dull/weird/damped as this.
Yeah unfortunately the colors on this thing are pretty bad. The other issue is the depth of the screen...there is none. Everything looks flat, like its painted on the screen. I played with it all night and couldn't get it any better. Im back on my old pixel already, will be sending this back. Oh well, i had high hopes for this phone but its definitely a no go
so i am not a hardware guy and was curious are these issues that software can address or it is what it is by design?
thanks
have you tried enabling the "vivid colors" setting

This may seem obvious, but on the 1st gen Pixel, there is a Developer Option to use sRGB, on or off. "Off" results in more saturation for colors. Is this setting not present on the Pixel 2 XL?

sRGB is the default on the Pixel 2... Don't know why people are complaining about it... Just wait for custom kernels so we can make color adjustments. This is nothing new.

The developer options on the Pixel 2 XL do not have the option like the original Pixels did to toggle sRGB on or off. It actually shows up when searching the phone, so it's likely in there somewhere behind the scenes, but it's not available to users out of the box in Developer Options or elsewhere in the settings. The only option available is the vivid toggle in the display settings, but it does very little to punch up the colors.

A number of articles and blogs I read said Google is looking to enable to option to toggle the sRGB settings.
We designed the Pixel display to have a more natural and accurate rendition of colors this year but we know some people prefer more vivid colors so we’ve added an option to boost colors by 10% for a more saturated display. We’re always looking at people’s responses to Pixel and we will look at adding more color options through a software update if we see a lot of feedback.
