Battery issues-wrong charge reported?! - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Q&A, Help & Troubl

Hi all,
Last week I was using my Note and the battery totally discharged. I plugged it in, let it charge overnight but the following day, I turned it on, started to play a game, 10 minutes later, I closed the game and noticed my battery had drained to about 65%. The battery depleted really quickly and when it got to 1%, it stayed on for ages and then finally died. I turned it back on again immediately and it showed it still had about 60% left. Again, it drained all the way to 0% so I turned it back on and it then showed 17%. I let deplete again and then the thing was properly dead. I charged it up and tried using a couple of battery calibration apps but it keeps happening. As an experiment, I left it playing a video from 100% and the thing died 2:38 hrs later. This isn't right. I've also had my micro sd card wipe and had issues with that since the drain.
Any similar experiences or possible fixes?
Thanks guys

I had this problem before and the solution is......FORGET ABOUT IT!
just use ur note normally....the cycle of charging and draining gonna fix it but dont let the battery drop that low again....15% is ur minimum limit
Use this code to give u the correct reading of the battery too *#0228#

Anyway of getting that menu up without dialling it in? I have the P600 so can't make calls due to no dialer app

[SOLVED][Q] Battery issues?

Wondering if anyone else has had any battery issues? I went to sleep last night with about 85% or more battery, and 5.5 hours later my phone was dead....when i plugged it in for like 5 minutes to call my work and tell them i was going to be late...when i got to work my phone said 45% phone idle and 45% cell standby for battery use
none here - took phone off charger about midnight, this morning after alarm rang for the full 10 minutes, it still showed 100%
i've been watching it and am really impressed with battery life - is it possible you've got a program running in the background? - i had Startup Auditor to stop apps in the background but had that from before, on my Vibrant
on the vibrant, running a predominantly black wallpaper, screen brightness at 13%, putting phone in "airplane mode" when i sleep, keeping GPS off, data sync off etc, it'd be down to 17-22% at end of day before going back on charger
this G2, running live wallpaper (thunderstorm), no efficiency moves (ie GPS off, etc), screen brightness at 50%, phone still had 34% last night before going back on the charger - and the battery has not "conditioned" - i noticed on the past 2 phones batteries life got better after the first few weeks of use.
Nothing different than my nexus...and i was thinking maybe it was a game but that should have been killed automatically and i dont think it would say phone standby and cell idle if it was an app would it?
tonite you might try putting the phone in airplane mode when you go to bed, and turn off GPS
see what happens to battery drain overnite - if it diminishes then i'd look at what apps you've installed. there was an article on engadget not too long ago that some researchers had analyzed the 358 most popular apps, and found 30 were reporting data to their "mothership" that had not declared it or asked for permission to report data.
hope that helps
well another weird thing is, that when i bought the phone and brought it home, usually it comes with half battery and thats what it showed but i had to charge it quick with no apps really installed on it yet...Im charging now and will test to see what happens with battery...i just removed off alot of my apps.... to see whats up
I'm getting about 10 hours with regular usage though I wish I knew why Photobucket keeps starting everytime i kill it.
I hope you guys charged the phone fully before you used it first. That can play a big role in battery life.
I got my phone yesterday and haven't done any calibrations yet. I've been playing with it like you normally would if you buy a new smartphone. I took it off the charger around 9pm last night and at 7:32am right now I have about 60% left. So roughly 10.5 hours later and I've only lost about 40%. I'm very impressed by that. My vibrant would have been dead by now, it rarely lasts through the night if its not on the charger.

What's your time with out signal, sounds like the 50% bug to me, google the airplane mode fix, if not you might want to look into a new radio, and you should allways recal your battery after you flash

Battery charging bug

I meant to post the other day about a possible bug causing some bad battery life. My battery at first want great at all. So I decided to drain the battery and charge fresh. At 4% I cut the phone off and plugged in. At 25%I turned the phone on but when it booted it said 51%even though I just looked at it saying 25%. I continued to charge to 100% and used the phone with not so good results.on top of this I had the (nlpcollectorwakelock)issue. So I reset the phone let the battery drain to 5%and turned off the phone and let it chargeto 100% while off. Ever since I have got over 5hours screen on time a opposed to the 3before. Just something for desperate users to try before giving up

Battery issue.

Hello everyone.
Past couple of weeks I have been having issues with my phone battery. No matter how much battery I have left when ever I play some game or edit photos my phone will all of sudden drop from 70%(or any given point) to 0% and switch off. At first I thought my battery was not calibrated so I drain to 0 and charge to 100 while it is off for couple of times but problem still occurs. Also when this happen my phone charge only upto 80% and stop charging until I unplug and plug back in order for it to charge100%.
Is there a way to fix it and how could I check if my battery is bad?

First, battery calibration is basically a placebo. It does nothing nowadays.
The whole thing about waiting a few days after installing a new rom or firmware so that the battery can "settle down" is real though, but is only because the new firmware will be doing a lot of background stuff and thus drain the battery more than usual.
Second, the only way to tell if your battery is bad is to try a new one. Unfortunately.
Based on your symptoms though, your battery is DEFINITELY bad. I'd recommend either sending the battery out for warranty, or buying a new one. Or both- you'll end up with 2 new batteries that you can swap out if you're a heavy user.
FYI Warning- apps that claim to scan and repair your battery are scams. There is no way to scan your battery. It isn't a harddrive.
Just thought I should warn you before you get desperate.

Been having similar issues with mine as well. My phone will show about 20% or more left in it, but then the phone ships down as if it was completely drained. When I plug it in, it will show the battery is dead. Also, like a little whole ago, it showed 25% left, but when I plugged it in, it went to 12%. It also continued to drop even while plugged in and showing it was charging. I did a battery pull, cleared the cache, then rebooted. It showed 18%, but only 23 minutes left to full charge. I did another battery pull, and it now shows 1 hour and 43 minutes left to full charge.
Like you, this has been going on for a few weeks now off & on.
I had problems a little while back (not as bad as these). Mine would die with the percent showing around 5-8% remaining. I took the battery out, held the power button for about 30 seconds, then continued normal use. I read somewhere that doing this somehow helps. I don't know if it's true or not, but now my phone doesn't die until it hits 0%, so something did change.

Odd battery drain/charge / % full issue. Advice sought

Hi everyone,
My G3 (D851 T-mo, not that it likely matters) yesterday shut off dead at about 40% battery reported as remaining. I was early to a movie and fired up Angry Birds 2 to kill the time. Just as I was about to start playing the phone went black. Tried turning it on, nothing at all happened. I had noticed the battery was at 41% just a minute or two before. Usually this means I have PLENTY of juice left.
After the movie I tried turning on the phone; again no response at all. Pulled the battery, replaced it, still nothing.
I got to my car and plugged it in to charge on the way home. After a moment the screen came on and gave the "powered off charging" screen showing 71% battery remaining. Huh. 71% ?
I was driving for about 10 minutes, got home, and plugged it into a wall charger. At this point the phone (still powered off) reported 51% charged.
Shortly thereafter, I booted the phone up and it reported 55% charged on the usual battery % notification.
I charged it to completion, and all seems normal, but I'm worried about it dying again at ~40%. I frequently run the phone down to 15-20% before charging in the normal course of events. Is there some battery calibration I should run? Or, is it time to get a new battery (and if so, any recommendations...)?

Battery weirdness since last system update.

So my phone battery has been acting crazy since the last update. First it dropped to 0% instantly from a 30 or 40% a weeks ago and just now it went from 20% to 0 in a second. The battery doesn't seem to be bulging. So before I buy a new one, has anyone else had weird issues? Just now I was charging it and decided to take out the battery. It jumped from 14% to 55% charge instantly from reinserting the battery.

It's a bad battery. There have been many people coming on here describing your same symptoms, but it doesn't matter what update they're on. In the end, it always turned out to be a bad battery.
So it's not an update issue.

I have had same issues and I noticed it's beacuse I was charging my phone via portable power bank.
When this happens I just drain battery dead, recharge phone to 100% while its turned OFF.
Unplug the cable, turn it on, if it doesn't show 100%, I just plug the charger again to refill it to 100%.
After that for several chargers no problem, it goes slowly to 1% and then dies on 0%
