Encryption of External SD - Unlocking with fingerpring? - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it possible to use the fingerprint unlocking when the External SD is encrypted?
Or the only way to unlock the screen is the strong password?

I have rooted the device.
Is there a way to bypass the need for a strong password and use the fingerprint?
Or for the device to ask for the password only when restarted and not every time the screen closes?

Encryption

Hi,
what happens if I encrypt the full phone (including sd card?) and I just update my mod? Is everything lost, or does ICS recognize the encrypted SD card and asks for the correct pin code?

[Q] S4 mini only mount thru USB when unlocked

Like the title says if I connect the S4 mini to my computer without touching the security pattern I have no access to the SD card and internal memory only if unlock the phone witch is a bit worrying since I can broke the screen a lose access to my important info.:crying:
Thanks in advance
It's a security feature, if you broke your screen make sure you have a working adb in your recovery and computer
I am not sure but I think one time the mini connected to the PC without unlocking
Thanks!

Encryption

Hey there!
Did someone use the encryption which is accessible in the settings?
If yes...:
Does ist affect performance?
Which partitions are encrypted?
Does internal / external sd get encrypted too?
Did you notice any disadvanteges?
Thank you for your opinions!!

Click to collapse
Yes,
It Doesn't Affect performance
Whole device is encrypted.
Yes, External Optional which is not suggested
Yes Screen PIN should always be there. so you cant use other lockscreen and Literally No point in it as just a firmware flash or repair from PCC will reset the same. Hence only protects your phone data in the case of lose or theft of phone. which you can do remotely as well.

SD Card Encryption

I encrypted my SD Card, but now I can't read any files with my computer which are in my SD Card...
So this is not practical if we can not get ourselves to our own data.
Now I think SD Card is useless especially for security.
Furthermore we can't use Schema or Knock Code for the lockscreen...
Anyone know why we can't read any files from the computer ?? even after the password, the files are still encrypted.
That's the point in encrypting it. To read from an outside source you will have to decrypt it.
With regards to knock code are you on V20A? I believe there was a bug where knock code was missing in that release but brought back in V20B, however it is minimum 6 knocks now instead of 3 :/
Why is that normal ? that's stupid I think, I encrypted my files ok but I unlocked my phone when I plug it to my computer... so I can read all my files in the internal storage, but why I can't in my external storage ?
That's not normal at all
When you encrypted your SD Card, you can't have Knock Code or Schema anymore, always use a password or code pin.
No one care if you get your phone stolen or lost ?
Sorry I misunderstood what you were saying. I don't bother encrypting so can't speak from experience but yes I guess you should be able to see it after password entered, can't help anymore on this.
The knock code was a missed feature in Polish first release I believe. I think the bug was found and fixed before the rest of Europe release and they then released 20B to fix the Polish one. This is what I think the situation is. I believe the PIN / pattern etc is still there? Check on LG Bridge if there is update if not rooted or flash one of the fixed things if you are still on 10A
I still have Knock Code, but you can't use it when you crypted your external storage, you only have code pin or password.
Anyway Knock Code is useless now because we need to tap at least 6 taps !
