speculation: Is it possible for the Tab S to work with the rumored gear VR? - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

assuming the gear VR will indeed be released by samsung along with the note 4, wondering if you guys know if it will be possible for a tablet to work on it (track head movements like with the smartphone that will be docked on it). with that super amoled resolution it would be great i think (sorry just bored out of my mind waiting for the tab S to be released here )

[Q] When will 12.2 Pro be avaialble? Does Samsung upgrade large tablet every year?

Considering to get the Note 10.1 2014 or the 12.2 Note Pro. Is it true that the 12.2 Note Pro will be available for purchase in March? Somewhere I read that it will be the first week of March. During this waiting period, I am considering to get the iPad Mini Retina Display or iPad Air or Note 10.1 2014 and when the 12.2 Note Pro comes out, do a trade-in immediately when the 12.2 Note Pro is out. Do you expect that all the problems (e.g. lag, when the power is low, cannot use the device even it is plugged in to the electric socket because charging is slow, etc.) with the current 10.1 2014 will be fixed in 12.2 Note Pro? I read that recharging on the 10.1 2014 is slow but Samsung has not implemented faster charging via USB 3.0.
Latest rumor is for a Feb 14 release of the Pro series. Rumor is based on an internal Samsung memo restricting employee vacations that weekend.

What do you want?
The 10.1 and 12.2 are very different in size, if you need a bigger tablet your better off just waiting.

If possible, I want both the 12.2 and 8" versions.

The Tab|Pro 8.4 and 10.1 are the same price as the iPad Mini Retina and iPad Air respectively. The Note|Pro 12 prices are set at a new high for Android tablets. These aren't going to be jumping off the shelves; especially to the point of needing more staff to handle the throngs of anxious customers. If you break it down and de-emotionalize it the Tab/Note|Pro's they're just another set of high-end Android tablets with top tier h/w specs, a new user interface, and a bunch of included s/w that's all provided by third parties that are already available today for any Android tablet. That might be really exciting for us (N10.1-14 owners) and enthusiasts but does anyone here think Samsung's 2014 premium tablets are going to turn the market on end and have Apple quaking in their boots? I think they'll do well (+/-10-15M sold this year including the N10.1-14) but those aren't big numbers in the greater scheme of things when there will be +300M mobile devices sold this year by Samsung.
and yeah
at this point I expect the high-end to be updated each year. This year got the screen on the 10.1 from junk to quality resolution. Samsung should have a process-shrink on their chips in the next year, so likely higher-performance at lower power consumption chips will be available a year from now. I'll probably skip the next generation (unless it blends and makes ice cream) but my wife's 1st gen nexus 7 will be ready to be replaced in the next generation of 7".
On the size side, after a month with a 10", I would not want larger in a tablet. I can just barely palm the 10" in portrait mode. I love the larger screen compared to a 7", but the 7" fits in a jacket pocket and the 10" will not.
Anybody knows why Samsung does not make the Note Pro 8.4 available at the same time? Do they want us to buy the 12.2 first and when we feel that it is too heavy, they release the Note Pro 8.4?
Although I need a laptop to run engineer and CAD applications, most of the time I could do the web browsing and document typing/reading on a tablet I suppose. The Note Pro 8.4 is good to use when I am waiting at the bus stop or on the bus. The 12.2 is good when I use it at the restaurant while waiting for the foods.

I would prefer the Samsung eventually as I can make phone calls using the Pro 10.1 and 12.2. I can also access flash flash websites, have additional memory and most importantly S-pen.
Can anybody confirm whether or not the Pro 12.2 has native phone calling and receiving capability? I plan to get a headphone with a mic. Thanks.

Almost all Samsung's tablets come in 3G and/or 4G versions which have a Dialer and MMS app. Exceptions being the U.S. and Turkey. I have a 3G N10.1-14 imported from Latin America.
Does that mean the international 4G LTE version of the Note PRO 12.2 will have native phone capability?

The Note|Pro 12 Wi-Fi is up for pre-order on the Samsung UK site. It's also got pictures of the tablet from all sides. Earlier, there was confusion about the placement of the USB 3.0 port with some pics showing center bottom and some showing center right. The official pics have it center right.

Pre-order the Note Pro 12.2 today and get a free Gamepad
£649.00
Scheduled to ship on Feb 4. 2014 in black or white
It seems that the one available for pre-order is not an international LTE version. Am I right?

So the 8.4 cellular model is out now?
I have pre-ordered the NotePro 12.2 LTE some weeks ago for 899 Euro. Big tab, big price. Even the iPad Air is cheaper.... (869€)
I am so excited !!
But - disappointment wouldn´t be a surprise.
Officially the release here in Germany is 8th calendar week, which has started today ! Cyberport assumes delivery on 21st February.. Just in 3 days.
Will give you my personal impressions here when it´s here.
Device arrived today here.
My unit´s display is yellowish at top, mainly top left and right corner.
Inacceptable for me personally, that´s why I´ll make a return and get another one,
Anything else:
UI ist ugly and stuttering. Pen is working fine, overall impression is really nice.
Will install another Launcher on the next unit.

GearVR

"Samsung Gear VR Innovator Edition is powered by the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and is not compatible with other smartphones or devices. Currently, the Verizon version of Galaxy Note 4 is not compatible but will be soon, check back here for updates. Some high-quality gaming apps may require the use of an Android game controller to offer control capabilities in addition to the Gear VR’s integrated touchpad and tracking sensors." <http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/wearable-tech/SM-R320NPWSXAR>
Should we wait before buying the GearVR? Or would the ones on the Samsung website eventually work for Verizon Note 4's?
Well that's upsetting seeing how i purchased one and missed that little tid bit but i suppose ill just be holding onto it until it is supported or find anyway around it.

I just thought that bit of information was strange > _ <;; Hopefully it will work by the time you get it though o:
I guess I'm just hoping the incompatibility is in the software and not in the hardware but I'll find out I suppose when it arrives
Looks to be an update needed. I don't know where that puts me ,I have de version, and don't get updates. I'll have to wait and see if we can do the update ourselves or something

Hello
I am on SM-910V running 5.1.1 rooted/unlocked bootloader/ twrp installed and wanted to know if the SM-R320NPWSXAR is now compatible with Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 4.

Any way to get Gear VR to work with Note 3?

I know it's supposedly only for Note 4, but I'm wondering if it's a hardware issue or software?
If software, I'm sure some dev has made a workaround for it to work with Note 3, but I haven't found anything on it.
If it's hardware, what is the limitation? I thought it was basically the same set up size-wise and port-wise?

So ive got my hands on the new 2016 gear vr the white one. Device works with stock note 4 after modding the case.
On my n9005 it wont start up the ocolus home after connecting and also no input from touch/buttons of the vr. Ive tested this with the team nx s8 rom. Afterwards ive installed wit shortcutmaker the vr applikation from the rom. Shortcutmaker wouldnt be needed if the vr gets recognised by the phone correctly so.
So the problem is that note 3 unfortintly wont speeck with the vr goggle...

[Q] SM-P350 & SM-P550 are new notes?

Does any body know anything about these devices?
Their profiles appeared at http://wap.samsungmobile.com/ and they look bad for new devices... Resolution is just 1024x768... Or may be, it some kind of developer board.

Galaxy Tab A 9.7" with S-Pen (SM-P550)
This shows up in the Canadian BestBuy website:

Beware!!
Native Screen Resolution of 1024 x 768
I could live with resolution but I am just so sick of Samsung and their craptastic updates. Same generation as Note 3 yet no lollipop insight. I paid T-Mobile $700 least they can do is treat their customers to reasonable updates
Any root on Galaxy Tab A 8" with S-Pen (SM-P350) ?
Guys there are roots for both 8 n 9 " Galaxy Tab A n Tab A plus.

Is the Galaxy S9 fully compatible with last year's Gear VR SM-R324?

Hi,
I try to figure out if last year's Gear VR is fully compatible with my new Galaxy S9 and get conflicting information on this topic. Some sites say that the Gear VR for Galaxy S8 (SM-R324) will work with the Galaxy S9, e.g. on Android Central:
"First, you can tell just by the look of the device. If the headset is black and comes with the motion controller, then it works with the Galaxy S8 and therefore will also work with the Galaxy S9. Second, you can check your headset's compatibility using your Gear VR's model number. You can follow our how-to guide to find your model number. If your device's model number is SM-R325 or SM-R324 then your Gear VR will work with the Galaxy S9."

However, there is an article on cnet.com that says:
"Samsung's newest phones, the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus, didn't debut with any new VR hardware. They do work with the Gear VR. However, they only work with the Note 8 model released in September last year, not the nearly identical Galaxy S8 version that debuted in March that same year. We confirmed this with Samsung. The issue is all about the fit.
Apparently, the design of the S9 is different enough that attempting to put it into an earlier S8-compatible Gear VR, released in early 2017, could damage it. Samsung advises using the Note 8 Gear VR, released in September 2017, for the best fit."

Has anyone tried putting a Galaxy S9 into a SM-R324 headset? I'm asking because the SM-R324 is more favorable than the latest model (SM-R325), but I don't want to damage my phone in the process.
Thanks for your help!
STOP! All you need is one of these!
Genuine Samsung Gear VR4 2017 SM-R325 Type-C Adapter/Connector - GH98-42239A
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07C59BRLQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_zogbBb3MCJ5JM
A lot cheaper than a whole new headset! You will need a stanley knife or craft knife to shave a small bit of plastic from the adapter but this is easily done and will be apparent when you compare the old and new adapters side by side.
I had the same question just a few days ago searched on the internet for it but couldn't find anything about it apart from a tweet from samsung australia which confirmed that sm-r324 should work just fine. So i bought it anyway since it was only 30 euro's for me. That article of Cnet also made me hesitate buying the r324 variant but I've tried it and can confirm that it works just fine. It fits perfectly and does definitly not damage the device. So yes you can buy the r324 variant no need for the r325 version. At least for the normal s9 (not sure about the s9+ but doubt it's any different)
I have a sm-r324 that worked with samsung galaxy s9+ until I upgraded to android 10.
Now, when I plug in the phone Oculus does not start and all that I can see (if I open the app manually) is the picture in which there is the indication to insert the gear vr (but nothing happened).
I have uninstalled all oculus app and service and inserted again the phone into gear, then I heard the sound e installed again all the app suggested (default procedure).
Do you know if there is some trick to make reworking the gear vr or is it better to install again android 9?
Thanks
