If I buy a Tab S in the US and sent it to myself in Europe? - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am thinking about buying a Tab S in the US and having it sent to me in Europe because even with shipping it is significantly cheaper than buying here. (Nice little Samsung pricing scam: $399 in US and 399 euros here - a 35% difference!!!!) Is there likely to be a warranty problem OR, more importantly, activation or OS upgrade issues, IMEI or CSC problems? I know it can sometimes be a problem with activations on their phones if they are activated out-of-region.

arent most electronics more expensive in europe though? im thinking of buying from amazon too but only for non-LTE one.
the tab s is currently being sold in bahrain only the LTE version and as im a cheapskate i'll wait for the wifi versions in saudi

Warranty could be an issue as you would probably have to send it to the States for service. I purchased the Hong Kong version of the 7.7 and received what updates there were without any problems. Activation was not a problem either other than the opening screen being in Chinese.

They seem more expensive here, but as I pointed out 399 in dollars and 399 in euros. It's like Samsung doesn't really want price parity. I should have said I want the wifi only, so I don't know if activation, IMEI and CSC matter.

I dont know the Greek rules.
But if I was to ship it to the Netherlands I would have to pay
Initial purchase (no sales tax)
Shipping
Import tax
Sales tax over purchase price and shipping (21%)
Import handeling fee for your shipper (UPS, Fedex??)
A quick calculation shows I finnaly would have to pay 415 euros. Hardly a bargain.

If you send as a personal item / used electronics / (ahem) warranty repair [emoji12], all those problems go away - at least here. The one thing you do not do is send in an unopened factory box so they do not think you just bought it.

I live in France, I bought my Tab S 10.5 LTE on an Italian website.
I called Samsung France. The warranty is European, not worldwide. No problem for me.
The tab cost 100€ less than in France.
With shipping fees, I paid 512€ instead of 600€ in France.

Cool. What's the Italian site?

www.hw1.it
They only have the LTE version in Italy, no wifi only.

The price of the tab S offered on the italian site, with 3g/4g, is the same at the wifi-only version everywhere else. So, I am thinking, why not buy the 3g/4g+wifi. I never have to use the data connection, but if I ever desparately need 3g/4g, I can drop a SIM card into it. Hmmm. not a bad idea at all.

I bought my Tab S on the day of release in the US and walked back into the UK with it saving about 100 quid. I have added my device to my Samsung devices page and entered the serial number with no issues so guessing that as long as they don't want a receipt of purchase then warranty should not be an issue.

When I asked Samsung France about European warranty, they answered me "As long as you have the bill/receipt, it is ok, your Italian tablet is under warranty in France too"

I want to buy the 8.4 lte unit as it is the same price as the wifi only version elsewhere, but I find it a little discomforting that the price is 100 euros cheaper than it will be offered elsewhere. Should I be concerned about the product this website is offering?

I'm not sure to understand your word...
Yes I bought the LTE version on this Italian website same price than wifi version in France, and I'm very happy with it.
I was in holiday this week, far from any wifi access point, I was very happy to have the LTE version (with my multi sim data plan).
Price in France for wifi version : http://www.materiel.net/tablette-tactile/samsung-galaxy-tab-s-10-blanc-105481.html
Price in Italy for LTE version : http://www.hw1.it/samsung-galaxy-tab-s-10-5-sm-t805ntsaitv/

Take the 8.4inch, for example. The French site's price for the wifi-only tablet is the normally suggested 399 euro price. The wifi/4g-lte version is recommended to sell for 499 euros in Europe. But the Italian site is selling that one for 399 euros - a 100 euros discount (discount similar to the 10.5 inch prices). So my question is: are you satisfied with product you got from the Italian site because I think the price is quite low compared to what it is "supposed" to be.

Well it seems the price is normal in Italy, if you check some comparing Italian websites.
Yes I couldn't be more satisfied, I really recommend this website.
I asked some info in English by mail, they called me on my phone to confirm the tracking number of the package...
I was afraid when I paid, but now I'm very happy.

I choosed hw1.it because they ship in France.

I am from Austria also tinking about ordering eg. at Amazon.it to have 30 days trial (cant be ordered in Germany from Austria right now) ...
Is it ok to flash an Austian Version e.g. CSC: T705ATO1ANF1 ???
1 will knox be triggered ?
2 is there any difference regarding GSM/LTE frequency bands or do all european devices have the same circuit boards ? One can look this up e.g. with myphoneexplorer (\System\build.prop Austria: ro.product.board=universal5420)

It's not out in the states yet. I'm sure the TMobile US version will be out by then, and maybe some others, but it's not clear at all when an unlocked GSM version will be available here (there's a recent thread linking to an online store, price of about $800 even, but it's preorder).
Clove (UK online store) offers the unlocked Euro GSM version for a little over $700 dollars, but that's minus the VAT. I don't know if all of Europe would pay VAT or just British.
well, i live in New York, and i bought mine
unlocked for 739.99, i saw it tru ebay
but the store was here in the city so
i went personally to the place and bought it.
u can find some more cheap tru ebay..
maybe arround 700..
oh and btw im using it with T-mobile..
too bad they will only allow Edge on it....
ok ok thank you

question! shipping from Europe to U.S

Do I have to pay taxes when I order a phone from Europe to the United States (in U.S) ?
Because I found the least expensive to buy at Clove! 694$
na, i dont think u have to pay taxes. i was looking at the same option. i am currently in UK and will be coming to USA in a few weeks and Im thinking of buying it from one of these companies and getting it shipped to USA. no taxes.
No taxes import duties or VAT. You may pay a foreign transaction fee if using a credit card. That's about it.
I just got my shipping notification from clove. Nothing additional was charged from the purchase price.

Do you think maybe we should wait until it officially comes to the U.S. in a few days and it will be cheaper?

[Q] Note 2 unlocked price around the world

Hi guys, I want to say that I'm checking on Galaxy Note 2 here in Indonesia. The problem is, the price here is soo expensive.. around US$780, just for the 16 GB version. I want to know what is the unlocked price for the Note 2 in your country. I tried googling it, but the result almost always shows a promotion/discounted price in this and that country, which won't really answer my question, does it?
Okay, let me start with Indonesia (though I've stated it above :laugh
Indonesia - US$ 780
RRP at 740$ in Thailand for N7100 16GB
But N7100s grey import are only at 580$. I have no idea which region sellers bought them from.
I paid £450 + £10 topup for a sim free one on Thursday.

Pattaya - Thailand
18000 thai baht. thats £360 in local shop yesterday for European grey market import
Cheapest in the UK is £393 delivered from http://panamoz.com They got a 5% discount code
Also £419 for the Grey and £430 for the White from here: http://www.digitalrev.com/product/samsung-galaxy-note-ii-16gb/MTAwMTUzMA_A_A
What is the cheapest price for Samsung Galaxy Note II ?
it need to be shipped to Russia or US
tnx

wow this price is beefed up in the uk

on PAYG it costs more than a s3.
on contract it costs either equal to the s4 or MORE than the s4 depending on the provider.
When I rang vodafone to query why they charge more for the s4 mini than the s4 they said due to demand.
Is a shame this phone doesnt have mhl out, otherwise it would be a beast. As I see it kept a fm radio which the full s4 doesnt have.
Do other countries have it cost more than the s3 (and s4)?
Not here in Singapore! I don't know any other S4 Mini users around here actually. :/
350€ in Germany. Quiet similar to a s3.
I got mine I9192 off UK eBay for £285
Sent from my GT-I9192 using Tapatalk 2
I got a GT-I9195 from UK eBay for £300, you just need to shop around.
Here in Sweden S4 mini and S3 are pretty much on par with ~375€ / ~$500 in the established shops.
However the s4 mini was much more expensive at the release date and the price dropped approx 25% in one month! I really noticed the heavy price drop. Possibly an intended strategy from Samsung.
Here in the UK the cheapest I've seen from a trustworthy provider is £21 pm..Cheapest I've seen from the internet is 16.23pm on dialaphone. Not sure if I should go for the dialaphone one as it has mixed reviews :/ If anyone has ordered from there before please tell me if they're dodgy, thanks!
Hmm I thought this phone would be a lot cheaper in UK. Here in Sweden you get it for £9 / 24 months with contract. If you buy it cash it costs £235.
Gernany Hamburg, 429€ in July
and i think it is worth.
/€: s4mini LTE i9195

yeah thats under half price on contract. your price seems more realistic, here in the uk I think they alter pricing on popularity, if something sells well then regardless of spec and cost pricing is pumped up. here in the uk the s3 mini and s4 mini phones are extremely popular outselling the flagships.
Just bought mine from Facebook for sale, free or wanted for £250. Did have Xperia Z before and prefer this phone.

i did't want to open a new thread so i'll ask here...
I'm from Croatia and i think we will not get the DUAL SIM version here. We recently joined the EU so if i buy it anywhere from Europe, it will be tax free.
My only condition is that it's dual sim and that it's unlocked for all networks.
Could you advise from where can i order it online for the best price?

Ebay UK, it costs about £270-280
Got it for 400 Euro.
Carphone Warehose £329.
I bought mine from there, I like to be able to walk into a local shop if i have any issues, and will pay a bit extra for that. I think, when considering the price, that it's worth remembering that this is a really well performing LTE enabled phone. I think it's worth every penny. I also have an HTC One, and it easily feels as snappy day to day as my One, just not as big and heavy.

Where to Buy? Canada, Hong Kong or Taiwan?

I will be in Hong Kong from September 10 to 24 with a 3 night layover in Taiwan. I have been looking for the price of the device in Taiwan but I have not been able to find it. I called a shop in Hong Kong who told me their version is Snapdragon not Exynos.
Question:
The CDN version has the $200 off trade in phone promo. Obviously in Asia there is no promo for that, however there is really no tax in Asia.
Anyone know the price of the device in Taiwan? Is it worth paying a premium ($200 ish more) for an Exynos model? Anyone know where I can buy it when I'm in Taiwan; I can't find web stores from Taiwan providing information re: this.
If I buy in Asia, can I get warranty servicing from Samsung in Canada?
Thanks!

Definately worth the extra cash for a bootloader unlocked exynos device.
I dont think sammy Canada will warranty service a non Canadian device though or even if they can as the hardware is slightly different.

If you've got something in writing from Samsung (which this website certainly is) that will trump whatever any sales rep says.

The international warranty is only mentioned in the South Korea website. The Canadian website has no mention of it.
I guess make sure to check what kind of warranty is offered in the country of purchase because there may be differences.

I just realized that the link I provided says "Samsung Mobile Computer" not mobile phone. I think we should check the fine print before purchasing abroad, if that's important. If I call Samsung Canada's warranty servicing and get an answer I will post it.
Here is my conversation with SS online:
C: Hypothetically, if I purchased a Samsung phone abroad, and there is a problem with it, can I submit the repair to Samsung Canada?
SS: Thank you for waiting. I'll be with you in just a moment.
SS: No, if you have purchased the phone abroad and would like to get it repaired in different country, you need to contact local service technicians. Samsung will not repair the phones purchased that are purchased in different countries.
