[Q] How to return HTC One M8 to stock - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone,
I have almost zero knowledge and M8 is the first android I ever had so apologies for the newbi question.
I got it from my brother rooted and with a custom ROM. I would like to get it back to stock and un-root it just in case I want to sell it.
I did read the forums but I got lost and couldn't find a proper guide that I can follow and I'm afraid Ill brick the phone.
My CID is GLOBA001 and at the moment I have Android revolution HD9.1 installed.
He did not make any backups to anything before he did this (most of the guides I found were assuming I had one)
Any help would be appreciated.

How to "Un-Root"HTC Desire

Hi guys
I've already got Unrevoked3, just one step to Root my Desire, but, how do i revert it back to stock for warranty purposes.
Guides and Links is deeply appreciated.
I'm having the same question..
As far as I could find, only flashing the stock rom would unroot your phone, previously rooted with UnrEVOked3..
Still searching for an easier method..

[Q] Assistance with RUU installs

HI Guys
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1543604&page=11
Ive read through the forum link above all 24 pages and downloaded the relevant Stock Roms, the original from HTC and the Vodafone one. Ive got a little confused reading through all the posts. To flash the original stock rom over my current vodafone branded one what steps exactly do i need to take. People are mentioning the unlock via htc dev in the forums is this required to take it back to the original stock rom. I didnt see any clear steps on how to get this done. Ive flashed my old phone numerous times (Desire) but at present am a little worried about using the htcdev way. I know the developers are working on s-off is any of this needed for what im trying to do??
Sorry if this has been asked but im struggling to find the info and down want to risk bricking the phone
Thanks in Advance

[Q] Help needed for my new HTC One X

Hi all,
I'm from India. Just yesterday, I had my new HTC One X. I bought it on eBay and was told that it was an imported mobile. I wanted to root, so I did some research and rooted my HOX with flashing recovery and SuperSu. But then I didn't relock my bootloader, as I didn't know whether to do it or not.
After rooting, when I go to bootloader, it says "Unlocked", but it's S-ON. I didn't really understand how it's S-ON even after rooting. It's currently on the stock ROM that it came with, 4.0.3 ICS.
I want to flash a JB ROM on it, but I'm so confused by the new things I'm seeing in the forums, like CID, HBOOT versions, that I'm a little hesitant to do it unless I understand these whole concepts.
If I get an official JB update from HTC, can I go ahead with it, or will it have some adverse impact on the HOX?
I did some researching on CID, and I checked the CID of my device, it's showing as HTC__Y13.
I have had a great experience at XDA with the previous smartphone I had (HTC Desire HD). But when I look into HTC ONE X, I find it very confusing.
I would really appreciate all the help I can get. If there are any specific information you guys want for the HOX I have, please ask and I'll post it into the forum. Thank you all, guys, in advance.

First things first, rooting doesn't automatically s-off your device. Currently there is no way to s-off the HTC One X, unless it comes already s-off (lucky few).
Cid is your carriers branding. If you're currently on the stock rom your easiest safest way would be to check for an ota in:
Settings > about.
If not you could try looking for your firmware.zip on xda, a quick search should bring the thread up.

New To HTC One M8

Hey everyone. I want to clarify before I dig in with the reason for this help thread. I am familiar with rooting from a former phone of mine (HTC One V) and I had fun with it. My thing now is, I have an HTC One M8 with Sprint and I'm wary of rooting a contract phone so I want to do things a certain way. Still with me? Great!
What I want to achieve is as follows:
Root and s-off my M8.
Install Android Revolution HD.
Install the Harmon-Karmon software mod.
What I need to know is if I am using the right tools, the right Rom, and kernel. Also I want to be able to easily revert back to stock in case I have to send my phone in for one reason or another and I'm not sure if the recovery would have anything to do with that process.
For what I am trying to achieve what's the best way to go about it? I'm on smartpay I can't afford to.brick.this phone with a voided warranty!

Root HTC One M8 with Vodafone branding

Dear friends,
Yesterday I sold my Oneplus One to get a brand new HTC One M8. Thing this is gorgeous, but the only thing I'm missing from the Oneplus One is the software. Which isnt the least important aspect of a Phone imo. So I'm considering rooting my Phone and getting CM11 on it. The only thing is that I want to root it, but it has Vodafone branding on it. Can I just use the normal root methods or isnt that possible for Vodafone branded M8's? If so does anyone know a different method? If no does anyone know a link to the best (and simpliest ) root method for my Htc One m8 . Ive been out for a while from this rooting stuff and id be pretty upset if id screw this **** up. lol
Kind regards.
Normal rooting method will work. Unlock bootloader, flash/boot custom recovery, flash SuperSU or any rooted custom ROM.
Another thing, this thread isn't supposed to be in this section. Questions and troubleshooting go into Q&A section not general section.
I agree with above post
I have the same.Unlocked bootloader through HTC and flashed custom recovery and flashed SU.
PS I have not flashed any modified ROM and it i still S-on
