[Q] Can't Update My HTC ONE X - HTC One X

Hey guys
it's an OLD issue with my phone, some of you were able to help me before, and I hope it is the same CASE again.
I'm unable to update my Phone to correct the HEARTBLEED BUG!!
& Can't ROOT it!!
I think the problem is with the MASTER USB, whatever that is
because whenever I try to update it or root it, it says CAN'T OPEN Master USB!
I followed EVERY STEP available on the WORLD WIDE WEB , yet my phone is called a SMART PHONE !

First you must be with stock rom and stock recovery if you want to update the phone and the phon must be not rooted. Second when you go in bootloader first go in bootloader and then connect the phone to computer and you will not see this massage

Well, even when I go into the bootloader and connect my USB, NOTHING happens!
Please see the pic.

Are you rooted? If you arent, you should be able to get the update straight from google because you won't be able to flash it without your phone being rooted and also without a custom recovery. Do you have cwm or twrp?
If you have the official zip from Google, you can use thishttp://rootzwiki.com/topic/13819-how-tovzw-return-to-factory-state-unroot-and-relock/ as a guide. You'll have to change the file names, but it's a start.

Since the user is not knowlegable, I suggest wugfresh's toolkit because its a one-click thing.
*if you are rooted
You just plug your phone in and click flash stock + unroot. This will download the newest firmware and also put into your device for you. Also use the OEM lock if you don't went to be rooted anymore.

It goes into fastboot mode by itself. Or do you mean that ADB is not found?
If ADB is not found then go to settings > about phone > and tap build number 7 times
Then hit back and go into developers options and tick android debugging and try it again.
An alternative way is to power your phone OFF and click volume up + volume down + power button all at the same time! This will put it into fastboot mode and when you plug in your phone and click unroot device, instead of having device is on/normal, have the other option ticked instead

All ROMs have their advantages. Now it depends on what you are looking for.
If you are looking for performance, I would suggest Vanir, AOSPA, Rubik
If you are looking for visual customizations then CM, AOKP are awesome
You will also find more ROMs which are a combination of 2 or more ROMs.
Just go through: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1339
Choose something, flash it!
Since every phone is unique, you will have to fins the "best ROM" yourself!
Happy flashing bud!

Stock recovery problems

Hey guys,
Apologies if this has already been covered before; I've just tried flashing a stock recovery back onto my One (after using TWRP) to apply an OTA update but when I boot into recovery it comes up with an image of the phone and a red exclamation mark/triangle and doesn't appear to go into recovery at all - this also happens when I try applying the OTA update after downloading it.
What am I doing wrong here? I've booted the phone into fastboot, run fastboot flash recovery [recovery image name] from the command prompt and everything appears to work but there's just no recovery.
Software version is 1.12.710.17, had downloaded the appropriate recovery image.
I've also had Xposed installed, but have tried disabling it as well which doesn't seem to help.
EDIT: Have tried flashing via fastboot again, then accessing recovery through hboot and it comes up with "no image or wrong image" (this is while entering hboot menu, not into recovery). Phone is rooted and has S-OFF, I don't understand why it isn't saving the recovery image?
DOUBLE EDIT: I can flash custom recoveries via fastboot fine, although I still get the "no image or wrong image" message when entering the hboot menu (although I can actually get to recovery). Much confusion, such frustration. Wow.

Negative, I got the recovery image from this thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701376
Just extract it from your OTA zip file. it will be in the firmware.zip file. You'll have to use 7zip or something to extract it.

Thank you sir! I'd been holding power which was rebooting the phone.
That's at least got me into recovery, but now when I try and apply the OTA file via recovery it comes up with "/system/lib/modules/a8293.ko" has unexpected contents. Installation aborted.
It's a never-ending battle! Hahah.

Generally speaking: Install bootloader only with Odin.
You should now flash firmware using Odin to save your device. Maybe Kies could restore also.

Can You access recovery? If Yes, then You can push files via adb while being in recovery. If not, then flash a kernel(boot.img) of any 4.4 ROM which consists of pre-installed recovery (most of them do). Then You will have recovery and can follow above steps.

If download mode doesn't work you need to push these files fastboot with adb commands. Go to THEPagel's thread with all the stock zips and extract those out and push each and every individual files via fastboot. Remember you need fastboot and adb installed on your computer before proceeding. If you are new to fastboot and adb then suggest searching for a tutorial on that before even attempting this.

like I said in my other post. Download a stock 5.0 lollipop rom. After your done flashing don't flash twrp. It's going to ask you that you're not rooted and if you will like to root. Press no then reboot. There you go back to stock without twrp and root.
