Should i buy a Desire?

Should i buy the Desire? It's pretty cheap, i haven't got much money, and i need a decent phone? I currently have a LG Optimus One, but i need something a bit more exquisite. Will i notice any performance difference? Oh and i was thinking of a Nexus One as well, but i've been comparing these two and the Desire seems to win!
It may be 2 years old but it has a great fanbase with a great selection of custom roms. I am due for renewal in April but I seriously cannot see anything that justifies me to commiting myself to another 18 month contract just yet, that's how good this phone is. It really is holding its own even now and I would without hesitation say go for it. If you get one second hand then just check the hardware buttons to make sure they work (my volume down button is starting to need a hard press to work) and if you get an unrooted one then you have got all the rooting stuff to enjoy as well I would get this over the Nexus One, in fact I spent a week putting phone against phone and eliminating them one by one when I first got my Desire. A cracking phone even now.

Wow, thanks, i am definitely getting the desire, i am already used to rooting and flashing so it's no biggie, thanks a bunch for the complete answer, you totally made me change my mind about buying a Nexus One which is actually more expensive in 2nd hand here.
Regards!
No worries I must confess to be so anal about which phone to get that my missus ended up yelling 'just buy a phone for Gods sake!!!' Anyway here's a link for a good review of 3 phones at the time, side by side. Glad to help ya

He seems to favour the HTC Legend a bit more. Is it any better than the Desire? The con of the Legend is not a con now, i think i could get it for the same price as the Desire.
Thanks for the helpful review haha!
EDIT*
Nevermind, the screen is way smaller, i'm going with the Desire, since i want a bigger screen.
I just bought a Desire for similar reasons, I had come from a ZTE Blade. It is a great phone and I am very happy with it.
You can compare phone specs at www.gsmarena.com so thats worth a go.
Simon
desire for sure
if you cant spend the money to buy desire s or desire hd, then its htc desire for sure
and htc legend doesnt even come close to htc desire
and with the great devs at xda, you'll always have something to do with your desire

[Q] Some advices needed..

I am about to buy this phone..But while I was going through forums and reviews I saw that many HOX were faulty..I did read the defects and how to spot them at store thread..But I am afraid after reading these articles...Coz buying this beast would create a damn big hole in the pocket and getting a defective one is a very messy job as one needs to get it replaced by company which takes a lot of time.
So I was wondering that is HOX is a good and safe buy??I mean it's no doubt the best phone available in market(SIII is not available here in India) but the thing is HTC has defective units in the market ( As I have read ).
If you all could guide me a bit about it's modding capabilities, the chances that one could land up with a defective one ,how to avoid that which units(manufacturing date wise) have a higher success rate..About the screen issues are those fixed??Is this device laggy, sluggish or any problems faced by you..
It's up to you to take the risk. My dad took it and got a perfect piece
Some people have been incredibly unlucky with lots of faulty ones, but I suspect that the chance of getting a duff one is less than you think.
If I didn't already have one, I would still buy one, but mine is perfect, so...
Agreed. More good phones out there than bad. Perfect phone here too.

My views on HTC One X
One X is best phone with best feature and design, best performance screen color is very bright and clear
But bad battery life, it drain fast with screen on like video playing or surfing internet but it is good when screen of as 3G talking upto 9 hours and 24mn and over while 4 hoursand 18mn for using internet and 5 hours and 45 mn for video play
Just read the other thousand threads asking the same questions.

If you decide to buy or not based on xda forum then you can't buy any phone
Any device forum is filled with similar complaints and issues, so if you like a phone just buy it.

I also got a faultless one! I would really buy it if I were you! I'm very happy with the device!

Want to upgrade my phone (HTC incredible), any suggestions?

Hi all,
My contract was ended last month, I am wondering if you guys can give me some suggestions to my next phone. For sure, I really like HTC One X, but compare to the other brand (Galaxy S3 and potential IP5) I am a little bit worried about if I should buy an One X or other options. BTW, I am a big fan of HTC, I heard that HTC is going to release new products on Sep,19, will HTC release a new phone or just a tablet.
I hope you guys can give some suggestions, Thansk,

Is it worth upgrading?

Hey One X community, I wish to ask you if it's still worth upgrading from Sensation XE to One X these days? Or maybe is it better to wait untill HTC One drops of it's price?
Both are good phones, but if you're looking to buy, go for the One instead.

Flog your sensation on eBay, throw in a few more beans and buy a used one x. It will make you very happy till the price of a new One drops. I came from sensation to one x and still very happy with it. Just be aware you can't soff it unless you buy one that has it from factory. It just means your tied to flashing roms from your pc otherwise its no bother.

I wanted to switch from Sensation XE to either One X or One next month or if prices will be still too high on november, december. I really like features that One brings in to mobile market ( Boomsound, Snapdragon 600 etc.) but I don't really want to spend my entire money on mobile device. One X is cool but I'm afraid of HTC dropping it's support as I get it (the same thing that happend to me as I got my Sensation). If I want to buy a phone then I require it to last for some time.

Well the HTC phones are very good ,BUT they really lack support from HTC ( software department ), especially when it comes to upgrading to newer versions of android ,and i really don't understand why HTC does not upgrade their phones especially older models. They really dont know what they are doing. SAMSUNG IS MUCH BETTER WHEN IT COMES TO SOFTWARE UPGRADE. In my opinion buy an GS4

[Q] Planing to buy One X

NO, the battery is so inferior to every other device over there , even the HTC sensation has a better Stamina than this one,if you are planning to buy a phone at this range I would recommend Nexus 4 , as both at the same price range m as Nexus 4 will still get Android L
I have managed to exchange my HOX with my brothers Nexus 4 as he use it as a supporting phone beside his Note 3, and I really dont regret this move

Get the Moto G. It'll be new, and will get Android Lollipop. Pretty much the same specs as the HOX.
don't buy this device
you must buy Nexus 4,Moto G,Optimus G
battery is seriously a joke. i tried many suggestions and even custom rom but it does not help. so if u have money, buy others
Beautiful body, but that's all
Agreed. The battery is embarrassing .
