[Q] Stuck in download mode. - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My tab 10.5 got stuck in download mode. I was trying to use JOdin, being that i'm on a mac.
I booted the tab into recovery via terminal and then attempted to use JOdin.
Once I started, I got an error saying I needed a PIT file, so it told me to restart my tablet and try again, the problem is, I cant restart it.
its stuck in download and I cant pop the battery out, of course.

I don't know the answer myself but maybe someone will help. I wonder what happens if the tablet is left on to let the battery run out. When it runs out and is recharged again and you power it on will it start at the boot screen and allow you to get into download mode or continue being stuck?
Someone else on these forums said to hold the POWER button, VOL - button and HOME together to exit download mode... for about 8 to 10 seconds. Does that work for you or is it completely stuck?

For me it worked, i.e. it ends Download Mode. But it reboots rhight away again into Download Mode. So the only way to get out of it is to flash using Odin.
I think it is caused bei Knox. You can one-click-disable Knox bei SuperSu App.
Before knowing the key combination, I did a full run down in Download Mode. Took approx 30h from 80% charge.

just press the download mode button combination... in the start of the download mode it will ask you a question to press down to cancel (reboot to system) or press up to enter download mode.... just press down... your device will reboot.

Press and hold Home+vol down+Power

It rebooted to download mode because you used the key combo to reboot back to download mode.
Next time to reset the device hold POWER + VOL DOWN only.
No idea why people keep posting the wrong key combo for reset, I've posted it a thousand times already.

Probably because you are the only one in this thread that provided a key combination for reset mode (as opposed to download or recovery mode) and nobody here has seen your other posts.
As an aside my tablet would not reboot at all with anything but POWER + VOL DOWN (no HOME) - mine is a Tab S2.
If you are used to using the phones, most of the older ones you can simply pop the battery out if you get stuck - no need for a forced reboot. That ain't so easy with their tablets.

I had same exact problem with tablet getting stuck saying getting pit file, I made a new admin account and used a different USB
Port and had no problems after that. So I would say its def your operating system. I would try using a live CD of Ubuntu if you don't wanna
Change your os. I'm pretty sure your tablet is fine mine got stuck at that point like 10 times and I reset it with key combo with no I'll effects.
Key combos
Reset: power + volume down
Download mode: power+ volume down+home
Recovery: power+volume down + home, then when screen goes black release volume down and hold volume up until recovery starts
Also just to clarify, volume down is the button closest to the power button

Galaxy Tab A

What are you aiming to do?

Actually it was bought from China and as usual, no google services were working. Later I tried to root the TAB and it worked. Later I downloaded another beta rom from the internet and tried to deploy it. Since then it stuck on that screen, not booting fully.
Now please help me to boot the TAB, as it is stuck in ODIN mode. I tried all suggested way (Volume down + power button / volume down + power + home button) but no change. It is not booting, nor even shutting down.
Please help.

So basically you need to install the stock firmware.
I suggest you find the Hong Kong firmware as this is usually compatible with the Chinese models plus it includes GAPPS.

You need to push power button + volume button + menu button
volume up = reboot bootloader
volume down = reboot recovery
volume center = reboot
However, if you had an unsuccessful root, you might ending up in a soft-brick. There is a posting about how to get out of it somewhere here on xda, but you have to search for it.
Good Luck,

Bootloop, Can't get past warning screen in download mode

Hey Guys
So my friend gave me a Note 2 with 4.1.1 that's stuck in safe mode.
So i tried installing TWRP to install a KitKat rom, but i forgot to format data "stupid me :\"
anyways at first it booted till the part where it's "optimizing apps"
after it got to "finishing boot" it rebooted and, well, it's stuck in a bootloop.
so i tried getting into recovery by pressing the 3 buttons, it just continues with booting into the bootloop.
then i tried getting in download mode, it gets to the warning screen, but it refuses to continue when i press the volume up button :|
any help?? thank you

perhaps try to reboot you phone by long press power button...
if you could get the phone to be recognized by adb then you could use:
adb reboot download
to get to download mode.
Just a reminder:
TWRP :Vol Up + Home + Power (Release Power Button when samsung logo appears, keep holidn Vol Up + Home untill you see TWRP )
Download Mode: Vol Down + Home + Power, then press up when warning appears.
Hope this helps.

Galaxy Tab S SM-800 stuck with flashing TWRP logo

I was provided this device to try and help resolve the issue. I am not sure how it got to this point. I believe that it was rooted with a custom ROM, then the individual tried to install a stock ROM (method unknown).
The current situation is:
Galaxy Tab S 10.5 SM-T800 stuck in a bootloop with the TWRP logo on the screen. I can not get the tablet to go into download mode. I have tried all of the different methods to enter download mode, i.e. Power & Vol - & Home, Drain the battery > Plug into PC while holding Vol - & Home, Power & Vol + & Vol -. None of these combinations do anything. The only thing I can do to get a response is to press Power & Vol +, which reboots the device right back into the TWRP loop after the Samsung Logo. Power button alone does nothing.
The device is seen by Windows with the Samsung Drivers but is not mounted to a drive letter, and I can not mount it.
ADB , fastboot and Odin do not see the device.
I would like to flash a new rom either custom or stock, but I need to be able to get the device into download mode so it can be seen by odin.
Any help would be great.
Mike
Probably just timing and pilot error this one. I've never known of any Samsung device boot but be incapable of booting to download mode as download mode is bootloader related.
No working bootloader means dead device.
No matter what state the device is in at the moment with the usb cable removed, hold POWER + VOL DOWN (not up) + HOME until the Samsung boot logo comes up, hold for another couple of seconds then release. Download mode should appear.
I know it should be easy....
I know it should work but it is not, I will make a vid of the process and post. I can not make heads or tails.

Is the home button actually working, are you pressing it firm enough?
If the home button doesn't register then the tablet will simply reboot.
Its a bit odd why twrp doesn't fully boot though unless it's the wrong one.
Does it hang at the twrp logo or continually reboot?

Am I Bricked?

Hi Guys,
I'm on a budget so I picked up an android off Craigslist today. Here is my problem -
Samsung S3 Rooted
Phone was working fine until I went into TWRP and wiped everything I could, and formated the phone. Obviously, I don't know exactly what I did.
Immediate problem -
Phone is stuck on boot, and I can't get into Fastboot, or a safe mode.
When I reset the phone, (by holding Power), the phone vibrates, shows a battery cell, then gets stuck on the boot screen. I guess this guy was using KToonsez KT747 - Kernel Dominaton, because that's what it says when I boot up. Then it just gets stuck there.
If I reset the phone and hold VolUp/Home/Pwr, it just gets stuck in a loop where it just vibrates over and over.
If I reset the phone and hold VolDn/Home/Pwr, I get the following -
Warning
A custom OS can cause critical problems ... ...If you want to download a custom OS press the volume up key. Otherwise, press the volume down key to cancel. If I press the VolDn key, it reboots and get stuck at the boot screen where it shows KToonsez KT747 - Kernel Dominaton. If I press the VolUp key, it gets stuck at Downloading... Do not turn off target !!
In the top left it shows the following...
Product name: SGH-T999N
Custom Binary Download: Yes (4 counts)
Current Binary: Custom
System Status: None
Qualcom Secureboot: Enable
Warranty Bit: 1
Bootloader AP SWREV:1
WHAT. DO.
Suggestions anyone?
Thank you,
Nate
If you have a PC you could go back to download mode and restore the stock software and see if that fixes the issue. If it does you could use download mode and Odin to reinstall Twrp and start flashing roms.
Download the latest ROM for the phone from here (it's slow so be patient): http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SGH-T999N/ . Unzip the file once to get a tar.md5 file.
Download Odin 3.07 from here: https://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&rct=...5QWImOPDJboTA_V3D5S9eA&bvm=bv.131783435,d.amc
Samsung USB drivers: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/SGH-T999NBATMB
Install the Samsung drivers.
Open Odin, uncheck everythign except f reset time.
Click on PDA and select the tar.md5 file you unzipped.
Boot phone into download mode by pressing home, volume down, and power, then volume up.
Connect the phone to the computer using the original Samsung USB cable and the phone should show up as a COM port.
Flash the phone by clicking on start.
When you see the word "reset" in the status window, remove the USB cable from the phone, remove the battery, replace the battery, boot into recovery by holding down the home, volume up, and power button.
Perform a factory reset/wipe and reboot.

What is the secret gesture to enter into Download/Recovery mode?

Hello,
Can someone give me the EXACT procedure to enter into Download and Recovery mode please?
If my tab (SM-T830) is switched off, and I switch it on by pressing Vol down + Power and I keep pressing both buttons, it will boot until the first splash screen (Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 Powered by Android) then after this screen, it will reboot..
If I release buttons during this splash screen, it boots up normally
I already succeeded to enter to download or recovery modes before but I have no idea how. I guess I must release 1 or 2 button at the point but when ?
Thanks
Hello,
Hopefully this will be helpful, the following procedure worked for me:
make sure the tab is off
plug the USB cable in your tab (but not in your computer)
hold down both volume buttons together
plug the USB cable in your computer
then the tab start (you may release the buttons) with a menu allowing you to choose (Vol +/-) between download mode and reboot.

It works perfectly, thank! That's a weird way to go to DL mode but it works!
And once I'm already in DL (and flashed a tar with Odin), do you know how I can restart directly to Recovery mode without rebooting to system?

This is really late, but go to recovery and select download mode.
Power off
Hold down all three buttons (power, vol down, vol up)
Once it vibrates let go of power and vol down, continue to hold vol up. Never fails.

Did this several times exactly the same way it's described and it fails every single time. Other way worked perfectly and easily on my first try.
