I'm full stock, sometimes he freezes for a short time due the heavy load.
Try to do a factory reset or a fresh flash.

Just deal with it. This is Android. Which means Google-Linux Frankenstein beta. Everything is beta. Nothing is stable. And the devs want money for their unoriginal ideas.
Until you're ready to plunk down big bucks for an iPhone 6 ( a real smartphone) accept the limitations of these over priced Korean devices.
Unfortunately, Camera has stopped.

The whole Android experience is a mix and match of parts. Nothing is completed. Sure, there is not as much lag as there was four years ago, but there's glitches and hiccups and hassles and headaches all over the place.
I will not be getting another Android phone.
And google is a sorry company that only sees projects part of the way through. Sure, there are some really good apps, like Keep. It synchronizes well across the desktop and mobile.
But they have no interest in fully developing certain items such as Google Maps. Right now, Maps reroutes the driver even when he is not off course. Sometimes several times in a minute. When I'm driving in downtown Boston, this is a bad thing to be happening.
And I'll never get another Android phone. FLashing roms. I hope I get to a point with a new phone where I don't have to hear that term again.
You flash this rom and wow, you can drop down to 3G if you like. But hey, the speaker volume sucks. Okay, well try this fix. Now the phone is in boot loop.
Wipe the phone. Now try this. Ok great that works. Except now all my contacts won't sync.
LTE won't stick. Screen burn in with Note 2. With certain launchers, much lag.
Crappy arse cameras that take too long to focus or they capture the shot while there is blur. I've gone through at least 15 camera apps in my google android Frankenstein LOVELY phurking experience. None compare the iphone 4s which is what, three years old now?
And this is just the tip of the iceberg. I've got things to do this morning or I would start listing off many other issues with Google Android Samsung junkity junk junk.
And no, I won't gtfo. Don't read my posts if you don't like!

Lol alright buddy good luck to you.

Actually i experience freezes in the internal browser on turkey KK on some websites.
In the past i had system hang up with a specific app for Bluetooth in the car.
Maybe it's app related in your case ?

Solution to Lags caused on g pro
Just install clean master and do a memory boost....and the device will no longer experience any kind of lag.....:good:.....also frequently clean the cache.

I understand at some point and is frustrating sometimes but phone makers NEED BRING REAL ANDROID EXPERIENCE and NO FULL BLOAT CRAP APPS this is why I think more what was my next phone for now LG is on mark
Samsung is dead for me except S3 and Gnote 1 truly outstanding phones. after that all is the same sh****

New GN froze had to pull battery...No big deal?

Hi everyone,
New GN,
ITLF41
19250UGKL1
yakjuux
4.01
I've only unlocked it, haven't done anything else.
I was only replying to a text message and in the middle of text, GN froze and the screen went black with a white line across top of screen.
Seemed to occur while the auto-rotate function was trying to rotate screen.
I also noticed the auto rotate on my GN does not work well at all. Sometimes it does, sometimes it will not no matter how long I wait.
Nothing worked, had to pull battery.
Seems fine after replacing battery.
I wouldn't be concerned but for the fact that I was not using 3rd party apps or a different rom. The force 2d option is off.
Is maybe something funky with the GN auto-rotate feature in 4.01?

Yes, versions 4.0.2 and 4.0.3 fix a LOT of little issues with the GN. They really should've released the phone with one of those 2 versions rather than 4.0.1.
I don't think you should be too worried about battery pulls unless they happen more often than you like.
Just like a computer...rebooting or pulling the battery at least once a week is recommended!

I'm a Network Admin for a large School Board. I know its strange I know nothing about smart Phones but I do know much about Wireless/Routers/switches and Computers.
If your rebooting computers once a week something is amiss....lol
I have servers and clients that have uptimes of 1 year+ before an update requires me to down a server or re-image a client.
In my case, if what had happened to my NEW GN happened on one of my OES2 Linux servers, Id be scrambling until the issue was found and fixed and i'd be none to happy.
But alas, a server is not a cell phone.
I hope it was a just a freak isolated incident.

One very simple reason: If you pull the battery in a bad moment, e.g. right when the hardware is writing something to the Flash memory, you might (soft-) brick your phone and lose all the data on it.

Well because,
If I have to keep pulling the battery (which is NOT occurring thankfully so far) then I would say something is wrong and its not just a software bug. I would call it a blue screen of death in computer terms.
That could be anything from a hardware fault (Memory/CPU/IO sub system..etc) That would for me, mean taking it back.
A hard reset may temporarily fix the issue. But it doesn't solve the underlying problems.
I'm hoping the error was a one off. If it never occurs again, then we're good to go.
If it does, its goin back.
Same thing happened to me, the weird thing is it happened right after I completely reset the phone...

Yea its strange...
In my case the Auto rotate feature seems to be the common theme for funkyness.
Sometimes its quick, less than a second, sometimes it doesn't move at all.....
Then, a hard lock.
I realize that 4.02 and .03 fix some bugs but I have the Canadian ver. and google is not gonna update OTA for my NG.
I'm not ready for the whole, flash to "google's" stock rom yet. I just learned to unlock it...lol. If it locks again i'll try that. If it don't i'll leave well enough alone.
Oh by the way, to the Admins, sorry for not posting in the Q&A section. I though i was in the Q&A, my mistake.

Actually, I have to replace cmos batteries all the time.
Usually they are good for 4 or 5 years but sometimes not.
Some people don't know what "Hit F1 to continue" means and I get calls all the time.
So yes, its quite common to have to pull a bad battery when dealing with 2,000+ PC's ...

Because I use a otterbox with my Galaxy Nexus and it's not very pleasent to keep taking my phone out of it's hard shell case and putting it back in?
Pulling the battery is always a last resort. If the phone is frozen, that is fine to pull the battery or you can hold power on the phone and it'll turn off by itself (not sure if this is in the GN but it was in Galaxy S1).

You are correct. Its not a common everyday thing for most.
I was just suggesting a legit reason for why anyone would need to pull a computer battery.
On another note, i agree with you that having an otterbox case makes it even more of a pain to have to pull the battery.
I just had another freeze up while trying to get back to the main page using the launcher.
Im getting worried now. I've had this phone for 2 weeks and it was great until today....
I think I'm gonna bring it back to virgin just to be safe before my 30 days is up.
If its just software then the new one will do it as well but at at least I'll know thats what it is and either wait for samsung updates or update manually.
Again....nowhere in my response did I say u HAVE to pull the battery every week....I simply said its best if u do, nobody is gonna force u to! But when u do get a bug...pull that battery, and if it keeps happening, send it for warranty...simple

Possible recent apps lag fix.

One thing I noticed with my phone that was laggy was the recent apps button. I fixed it by running art in developers option. Let it restart and let it do its android is upgrading apps. Once it does that let it boot up. Go back to developers option and change back to dalvic. Then it will restart and boot up again. After that check your recent apps button to see if it's quicker with no delay. Worked for me so let me know if it works for you.

It has been repeatedly posted by different users and on the other note forums as an issue for some. There's a post sonewhere on this forum claiming Samsung acknowledged the delay. A 1-2 second delay is annoying and unnecessary on a new flagship phone. Regardless it worked for me.

Honestly though, if anyone is legitimately annoyed over a second or two delay, then your lives must be perfect in every other conceivable way. Sure, it's 2014, and I get it, but c'mon. A 1-2 second delay is nothing.
Took like 25 mins to change over to ART but this worked for me, thanks. The delay was annoying even in my far from perfect life.
I tried this and didn't see much difference between ART and dalvik. There was a lot more lag on ART for me and the recent apps still had a delay.

Did nothing for me but worth a try
While I currently only have about a 1/2 second delay, I wonder if it will slowly creep back to being slow over time.
Also, how does it calculate what is recent? Is it a set time period or just a list of the last X apps used?
Likely last used. That's what it seems anyway

I have not had any lag with this button since the day I got it. A friend of mine who is on Sprint has a delay. Annoying? Yeah maybe a little but if your schedule is so tight that a 1 second delay is going to cause mass chaos, you really need to look at your schedule and your priorities.

too bad there's no smiley for rolling my eyes... when someone upgrades to a new phone, you'd expect it to be faster. 1-2s isn't that bad "in the grand scheme" as you and a couple others illogically point out. the difference is pressing this button more than 10-20x a day, it starts to make you wonder what's wrong with this phone.
lastly, it's sad that you felt compelled to come into a thread and throw your judgement around on other people's lives. i could say i feel sorry for you that your life is so slow and lackadaisical that you're able to easy tolerate delays throughout your day. but i wouldn't do that.

AGREED. I was searching for this exact problem when I found this thread. I only bought a Note 4 because I broke my Note 2, my thoughts were 'Well, I guess i'll have a faster phone?' even If its 700$... imagine my dismay to find the phone SLOWER than my previous one. my life is far from perfect, which is why spending an extra 400-500 for a note 4 over a note 2 means I expect speed. and you know this, maaaaaaaaan.
After disabling multi window the lag is almost gone. I think the lag is due to figuring out wich of the recent apps suport multi window. it's definitely a software optimisation issue as the galaxy s6 doesn't have this problem and it also supports multi window. I don't know if it is as complex as the multi window of the note 4. Try it and tell me if this helped. Sorry if this has already been posted, but honestly I didn't read all the posts in this thread
art question
Where is the art setting in developers mode? I looked over every button and can't find it.

got a second hand Lg G4 and just saw the promotion???

Folks, I recently purchased a month old LG G4 from a guy and its through Verizon, well the guys has been shipped overseas(he is in the service) and I just saw the promotion for the battery, battery cradle and micro sd card and my question is this, I have the phone and of course the IMEI number but I don't have a receipt for the phone, I've contacted LG and they tell me I have to have a copy of the receipt along with IMEI number of phone, can anyone suggest anything that would get me closer to being able to get the receipt for the phone like calling the store where it was purchased or anything like that? I texted the guy and he said he is locked out of his Verizon account so he couldn't get me a copy of receipt.
love the phone though and works great.
thanks in advance.
I doubt you can do anything, you bought in a secondary market.
If you really need a battery just buy it on ebay I seen some go for 20 bucks

Not 100% sure but I might take mine back due to unresponsiveness. IF I do take it back and get the N6, I'll give you the battery pack. You'll just pay shipping. Again, I'm not too sure. Just send me a pm so I won't forget if I end up doing it
Give me a break... At least wait for the update. It's not nearly bad enough to return the phone
My choice brother. Sorry if that bothers you
I agree. If you are having lagginess and have NOT factory reset, you are doing yourself a disservice. Phone is solid. Mine was freaking out when I first got it. I suspect it was because the Carrier tech skipped the initial setup and it was freaking out. After a factory reset and finished the setup properly, it has been amazing. I use Nova btw. Supposedly some of the LG Home Launcher widgets were buggy and eating ram and resources that cause lagginess and battery draining.
You can always try to submit for the Free battery and stuff. Worst case is they tell you no. I think you have until July 15th to Submit. Unfortunately you have to have a Receipt of Purchase. So unless you have the original Verizon receipt, you will be SOL.

THIS. Mine was having all kinds of lag and miss-touches (To the point that I kind of wanted to throw it against a wall) so I opted to do a factory reset and now I have literally NO lag at all. Was even able to install the launcher I wanted but could not use prior because of how buggy my G4 was being.
So as stated just do a factory reset and then give the phone a real chance.....You will thank yourself later for it.
folks, again I'm still new to Android, when you say " factory reset" I'm assuming you start from scratch on the phone? if you do this how are you getting your information back again as far as contacts, emails, pictures and so forth?

If your contacts are on Gmail, then you won't have any issues. That goes the same for emails.
Pictures and videos must be copied first to either your PC or copy them to Micro SD card. Then you reset your device, and then copy them back. It's quite simple. Let me know if you don't understand and I'll be more than happy to give you a more detailed explanation.

For pictures and videos, just like email/contacts store on the cloud, if you've loaded Google Photos and had it auto-upload all your content, it'll always be available as well.
Now, that said, while I'm with the others on holding onto the phone and giving it time, I do realize that the actual return windows for the product are finite. It's a lot harder to sell the device later on your own (not hard, just harder) rather than leverage a return to the store and potential impact of a restocking fee. The restocking fee may be a small price to pay for the piece of mind acquired by getting out of a device you don't want. For that, you're the only one that can make the decision.
Yeah no one cares what anyone else does with their own phone but don't go around telling others it's bad. It has a bad release software. LG messed up but hopefully they can fix it soon. They already claim to have updates ready soon.

LOL! The software on this phone isn't nearly as bad as the Optimus G. At least this is manageable for most (in my case, it's no issues at all really). The Optimus G would turn into a pocket heater due to borked kernel at release.
I can only imagine what some of the crowd in these G4 forums would have done if they had the S2 back when Sammy didn't do their homework and pushed out a release that bricked the devices that took the update before they could pull it....

To factory reset, go into Settings. Security. Wipe device.
Contacts, apps, etc will restore when you first sign in to your google account during initial setup. There are tons of Getting Started guides for Android. If you are new to Android, welcome.

I wouldn't say that's true. I've been following several different forums, apart from XDA, and there are A LOT of people who complain of the knock-on issue. As well as the keyboard issue (with any keyboard). Many people claim that the issue goes away after a reset, but I actually do see a lot of them return saying "I was wrong, and it took 3-4 days for me to notice it again."
I think that there is a bug in the software. If they had found it, it would have been pushed ASAP seeing as it plagues a great many people. They're still working on it... Hopefully they'll fix it soon!
Just sayin'.

Phone was sold as is, it turned on but the battery was drained completely and died soon after reaching home screen. I took a plunge since price was $50 tempting Washingtons  I was 100% sure something is wrong with this device but **** it i did it. Bought a charger and USB cable on the way home and so far it's charging just fine.
Phone is mostly erased at least manually I think, because somebody left his google account as I can see email in the plays store menu and some apps, or maybe this is all the carrier pre-installed junk I'm looking at ? LOL
I don't have much experience with Samsung devices but it's a SM-N900T model with N900TUVUCNB4 4.4.2. from February 2014 according to this site http://www.galaxynote3update.com/galaxy-note-3-odin-factory-stock-firmware-usa-canada/
My question is do I stay on this Android or do I jump to Lolipop ? Wasn't there some memory issues with 5.0 ? Or maybe Custom builds ?
Your first move is to sell it to me for $5
If I was OP, I would fully charge the phone, do full factory reset and run it few days as is to test if everything works,. Once you start updating, especially custom ROM, things can break and you'll never know if it's software or hardware. If everything works fine, then you could decide for yourself what to do next. My biggest worry would be the phone is blacklisted, since Note 3 in good shape sells for $200-$300.
OK
Phone charged fully I booted it up and after short amount of time it would freeze constantly when bringing up the keyboard (Samsung or google), can't recall which one was first now because I was changing them in settings and nothing helped. Either way it was freezing after typing couple of letters or appear then crash/disappear. All this combined with some crashes from app called Lookout. Google told me to do Volume UP+HOME+POWER and do a factory reset, after that everything works fine now. Changed my sim card and I can place calls with no issues also data works fine but damn there is tons of f***ing poopy preloaded apps in here from Samsung and other garbagio . I think whoever was using this device had no idea what to do with those errors and just stopped using it somewhere around Feb. 2014 because since then basically nothing was updated on it. I'm gonna let it sit for couple of days then probably will upgrade to 5.0 via KIES and maybe replace the battery either way with OEM or maybe something like this ? http://www.amazon.com/Anker-T-Mobile-Compatibility-18-Month-Warranty/dp/B00FF54C8Q/

If you're planning on keeping it, you'd be better spending the extra $ on one of these mate: http://www.amazon.com/Zerolemon-Zer...d=1453047493&sr=1-1&keywords=ZeroLemon+Note+3
I'm getting 6 days on a full charge outta mine, compared to 1 day with stock battery (course I'm running a custom rom, but when I was back on stock with my ZeroLemon, I was getting 3 days outta it)

Actually you can root the phone easily, even without tripping knox on kitkat, once rooted you could freeze or kill on start up most apps that bother you, that's what I do and problem solved, phone runs like a dream.

There is actually an easy way to not worry about the blacklisted issue before you ever buy a phone from someone. You can go to www.swappa.com/esn and check the status of the phone by entering it's IMEI. We buy and resell phones a lot and this is how we check them. You can check up to 10 phones free every 24 hours on the site.

Sounds like you did get lucky and come across someone who wasn't tech savvy at all, and had no idea how simple it was to fix. But hey... that's their lose and your gain.
If you do decide to root it at some point and want to run a custom ROM, click on the top banner in my signature and check it out. I think you might just like it.

Yeah man, there is an awesome custom ROM out for this phone. I can't remember the name right off hand, but I'm sure you've heard of it. Haha

You can freeze them, but in my opinion if you've gone to the trouble of rooting it, you might as well completely remove the bloatware. If all you do is freeze the apps, they are still there needlessly taking up the internal storage. There are a few lists on here that tells what is safe to remove without fear of messing the phone up.
problem with deleting "bloatware" is two fold: some programs are interdependent and deleting one you don't want may break another you need. Also, I don't know about others, but I changed my mind in the past and reactivated some applications I never thought I'll be using before.
As far as space goes, the whole system uses 4 GB maybe, so you could save 1 GB, if you're aggressive deleting files, probably couple min of 4k video worth. I got 128 GB sd card, problem solved. Maybe different story with Note 5, but that's one of main reasons I never upgraded.
Either way I strongly suggest at least freezing apps and testing before deleting it.

Lmao
Still been using the device to watch stuff on wifi @ home and **** Can't use it as my daily driver it's just to big :0 anyway the other hidden issue that I found out about it is that the charging port is kinda beaten up especially on the left side. Sometimes you can plug the cable in and it won't charge until you apply little pressure on the connectors left side it's time to do this http://www.amazon.com/Charging-Ribbon-Connector-Samsung-T-Mobile/dp/B00H3DZRXC/

Replaced the charging port with the $5 one I bought via Amazon... charging worked great but the voice recording and mic in general sounded garbled had to put the broken one back lol :S

General Honor Magic4 Pro + Android 13 = Broken

Just updated my Magic4 Pro to Android 13, Magic OS 7.1, Build number: 7.1.0.136 and I cannot switch between apps; the functionality is simply broken.
I've got a video demonstrating it on Twitter...would therefore suggest not upgrading until this is (and potentially other bugs) fixed.
UPDATE:
I've found the potential cause of said issue - it's linked with the launcher not being default. Switching it back to Honor Home, then re-selecting Nova launcher seems to have fixed the issue.
However, if I restart or power off the phone, the issue comes back, thus needing to do the above again.
Was it à regular updates from Honor ?

I suggest you to perform a hard reset. I don't meet this issue. It's very strange!!!

That's not something I'm prepared to do; don't want to be wasting my time having to do a full factory reset due to a broken feature that's been pushed through by the manufacturer.
And yes, regular and official update.

You should tape in the three points upper in right in the app Honor Club( system update). Trying versions.

I'm going to perform a hard reset because of draining battery and others bugs. I was before a beta tester. This update, too soon!!! Honor should have waited!!! I'm angry !

Agreed.
Doing a reset will solve it, I have not done it and it works fine, I have been lucky.

Unfortunately you might just have to do a backup and do it when it comes to android in general not just honor platform updates tend to break things and only way to fix those bugs is to reset simple as that you can complain left and right but that's just how it is happens on ios mac os and Windows as well

I used to flash ROMs and kernels weekly on my SGS1, but I can't ever recall one breaking basing navigation functionalities.
With that said, I've found the potential cause of said issue - it's linked with the launcher not being default. Switching it back to Honor Home, then re-selecting Nova launcher seems to have fixed the issue.

It was very relieving to find this thread and make my phone usable again. It was horrible experience trying to use the phone without an ability to switch apps.

"It didn't happen before so it can't happen now" great logic also that was super long time ago lmao back in SGS1 days we only had 1 navigation type so it either fully worked or didn't there were no variables these days we have 2-3 so obvs stuff can break plus don't forget with a clean install there are 0 variables that's why bugs, if they happen, are caught by honor or whoever makes the update with apps and custom settings thrown in there's thousands of variables that can make stuff go haywire

Indeed, it is great logic. Android has been in development for 13 years since the SGS1, so you'd expect fewer bugs and fundamental features not being broken. Remember, not everyone is a techie nor will come to XDA looking for the fix, and ultimately might be put off the brand altogether, which otherwise makes excellent phones (and I've owned Honor phones on/off since 2015).
Guess you're not thinking of the bigger picture here, anyway I digress.

No its garbage logic in fact yes its been in dev for 13 years it has also been adding features for 13 years changin things for 13 years for same 13 years its also been supporting over 20k+ devices and working on them bugs are about normal with majority phones we dont see a lot cuz devs squash them before they push the update but variables that i mentioned prevent devs from covering all scenarios so shenanigans happen my problem was not with bug itself my problem is people like you talking crap because they refuse to wipe or expect flawless experience every time nothing is perfect especially software

I think you are an expert. Do you think it is possible to install Google Services Framework on Magic5pro? I have one but dunno how to do so. Thank you for your sharing.
