Service Menu description - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there any descriptions about the functions in the service menu?

Unfortunately I don't have the link, but on one of the firmware update threads here on XDA there was a link to a site hosting several firmware versions, as well as a massive 75mb pdf file containing the internal service manual for the G3 with full descriptions of every single component and also a full guide to the internal service menu. I'm sure if you google you'll find it.

I'm interested in this service manual as well, but can't seem to find it anywhere.
I've tried Google and XDA search and found several firmware threads, but nothing on that PDF nor on any of the hosting sites.
I'm not sure if it's been removed or other, but if you have it on hand or know where, I would greatly appreciate it if you could link it or other. :fingers-crossed:
The only searches I could find were to a lgbbs.net site that has all the service menu files for each variant, but they want $100 each to download them....

Thank you a bagillion times! :victory:
Is the service manual the same for all variants? Or are there some changes for each carrier's variants? I assume so, most likely due to carrier networks and all, but I'm wondering more so with hardware side and other settings.

Glad I could help Unfortunately I don't have any further info on the file itself, but it seems pretty comprehensive. I'd venture to guess that the carrier variants merely have cosmetic differences, apart from the obvious 16/32GB distinction. In any event, the manual is comprehensive enough to give you an idea of what the bloody hell is going on inside this fantastic little device

Thank yous for the guide I really needed this!

htc gps tool?

i just installed a rom with htc gps tool and i was wondering what it does exactly. i have done a search but cannot find anything but a thread with some screen shots.
Google is your friend
http://www.google.com/search?client=opera&rls=es-LA&q=htc+gps+tool&sourceid=opera&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8
With this tool you can check the GPS on your device, get a location, Hot, COLD, restart the GPS.

thanks. but as i said i did a search and found a linkto some screenshots of the program (item number one in your link) and some links to download the program. well i have the program thus fufilling both the need to see screenshots or to download it. what would be helpfull is some sort of instruction manual.

I also searched and can't find an instruction manual. I guess just possibly there isn't one. There are many forums that can be searched if you have a specific question about the program, including the forums where the program is posted for download. They would be a much better place to ask your question rather than starting another thread.
The nature of xda, and similar sites, is that there is a lot of trial and error and educating yourself. Being a bit of a geek is also a good quality to have. Just read, read, read and you will figure out what you want to know.

carrier cabs gone bye bye

Dead link to the existing carrier cabs. Can anyone find out what happened?
http://dcd1182.n715dp.com/index.php?dir=Titan/carriers/ no longer exists. Or if someone can get the Sprint cabs for the Vogue that would work too I suppose.

Ok. I'll go annoy those guys and see if I can find em. Thanks for the heads up.
I'm fully willing to host these on one of my websites (I have 8 domains, each one with over 300GB of bandwidth per month, I think I'll be alright! ). The only one I have right now is the Sprint CAB. I'll check out sites listed above and see if I can dig some up and provide a mirror. If anyone still has the files, feel send me a PM and we can just get them uploaded ASAP.

Here's my super-quick slap-back-together table of important Vogue & Sprint files. Sprint Carrier CABs are the only ones I have thus far, I would like to host the others for anyone who needs them.

Have you checked PPCGeeks? If I am not mistaken, there is a sticky in there with the carrier cabs for pretty much every carrier out there.
When I click to download those, even though I am logged in, it says I do not have 'permission' to download attached files from their forums. I don't know if I have to post more to get enough "credit" to download them or what... that's why I was just hoping someone could email them to me or something.

You can either, create a referrals URL, so that you give this to your friends, and they join via the URL and you get a referral.
Or
When registering (I'm told) there is a field to enter the name of an existing member who referred you to this site.
Dave
I've wondered about that too.
Thanks for clearing it up.

You'd be surprised I tend to be less helpful when I try to be, so maybe I should just flame my way to the big 1000
PS: If you're not too busy, can you mention to the powers that be the idea of having your phone, ROM and radio in your username bar (the thing to the left of each post - don't know what it's called...). It was mentioned in this thread as it went a little off topic in the second page, but it seems to have fizzled out a bit.
I think it would be a very useful idea as a lot of support threads ask for such information and quite a lot of users would rather not keep it in their signatures. It also standardises the layout of such things so you can quickly check which phone/ROM/whatever the user is talking about.
I suppose the issues would arise when someone has more than two or three phones as it would make the posts longer, but even then it wouldn't get so bad until it hit around five devices, as it's just two or three lines for each one. Maybe a drop-down box could be used for the device and we could recommend only including primary devices in that, while keeping older ones for your signature only.

I could have sworn that at one point I'd been able to see who my referred sign-ups were, but I can't for the life of me find it now.
I've got 24, and although that's not a lot I'm a bit stumped as to how!
Is there a way to see who has signed up due to my referrals?

Old thread, but wanted to post the method for creating a referrals URL since Dave's link above did not work..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/register.php?referrerid=4238197 <- replace this number with your user ID number
To find your user ID number, click on your user name in the upper right hand corner and see the new URL change in your location bar. Here is mine. Note the u= on the end.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=4238197
Referrals doesn't seem to do anything, but it is nice to know that I inspired someone to join up and hopefully contribute.

Need T-Mobile_myTouch_3G_Slide_Software_Update_2.15.531.3 .exe file

Hi Guys,
So i need to root my 2.2.1 myTouch 3G Slide 2.2.1 and i need this file for it to work and apparently the HTC website has removed it from their support tab. So, if any 1 and post a working link or email me the file i would me very grateful.

Unfortunately, I just registered so I cannot post the link. So much for trying to be helpful instead of asking for help in my first post. I'll try to send it to you by IM if this forum has private messaging.

If one of you guys can find it somewhere on your hard drive, I can help with hosting it.
Update: I haven't found the exact file named "T-Mobile_myTouch_3G_Slide_Software_Update_2.15.531.3.exe" yet, but I did find this:
RUU_Espresso_Froyo_TMOUS_2.15.531.3_release_noData.exe - 157.53 MB
Also, HTC does have a download "Android 2.2 System Update for T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide | 08.09.2012" here, is that similar to what you need?

"FLV Player" phishing?

I googled (Firefox beta, SGN2, stock firmware) something about htc firmwares and clicked a link pointing to XDA. The correct page (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1529941) appeared for a few seconds then file download started (file was called FLV_Player_install.apk) and the browser was redirected to a page claiming (in Russian) that I have outdated version installed and I need to install an update (screenshot is attached). The page comes from domain blinko-mobile.com, domain owner info is hidden.
I'm sure that the apk contains some kind of virus.
I suspect this may be caused by some kind of injection in that topic.
I wasn't able to reproduce that by entering that page again.
Or it's not related to XDA and I should contact local law-enforcement authorities?

If there is no other reports about that stuff then it may be caused by my ISP. Russian cell operators are famous for swindle.

It seems that there is some legal app called FLV Player so I cant find something useful about the virus... Only a so-called virus for [email protected]: (oops, I cant post links).
I don't really want to believe in some kind of "backbone provider conspiracy" but...

In Moscow, MTS.
I doubt it's a conspiracy. What I think it is is some dumbass banner system is ocassionaly feeding many websites with a banner, that in certain cases leads mobile users to a (most likely) virus-filled "update".
Since it seems to be specific for mobiles, and doesn't always happen, website owners probably have no idea about it.
