Spent the last week looking for somewhere to get that case!
Going to pre-order now - my lovely see through case from china is great apart from they covered the magnetic charge area which is sad news.
I managed to get the micro SD in the wrong way round for my QX10 - that was fun!
Doesn't the lens come with some form of case already?

That's pretty poor, given the price.
But I suppose when you look at the cost of the docks (including the car holder that doesn't even charge - when it could via the pins), you can see that Sony likes to maximise profits from accessories.
Even the case that lets you clip the QX10 on seems rather a lot of money, and worse still, I can see myself buying one!

The QX10/100 cover for the Z1, which Amazon said could ship as late as December, is now in stock and has shipped today to me - so I'll have it tomorrow.
I expect that once I have this cover, I might use the QX10 a lot more than I do now, which is hardly at all.
(Really wondering why I bought one now, to be honest - so I may well sell both the cover and the QX10 in the not too distant future).

My Sony ACX2 case arrived - slight problem is it does not work!
when its on the phone and set at open position - the QX10 will not attach - the problem is getting it locked in - the ONLY way I can get it to attach is when the case is away from the phone and I apply pressure on one side (where phone would be) so it can slide over the lock (far side from the locking dot) - which is disappointing.
I have checked for damage on case and camera and they are fine - guess it just does not work properly. Quite disappointed.

I have very mixed views on the QX10.
Here they are in a nutshell.
1) Practicality. Even with the wrist strap, it's not the easiest thing to carry about - and I am disappointed Sony couldn't bundle a simple case instead of making you pay £20 or so.
2) Pairing is slow, and there are quite a few Wi-Fi access points around my location so it means that it often pauses/stutters on the viewfinder display - and sometimes loses connection completely (not often, but once is too much if you're trying to take a photo).
3) It doesn't take incredible photos all the time - it can sometimes be out of focus and there's still a lot of noise if it judges the scene wrong. I've had a photo that looks far worse than using the main camera in auto mode!
However, if put on a tripod (or placed separately on a flat surface and detached from the phone) then it can take some incredible low-light photos.. totally noise free and, well, just wow. These are the shots that make you think it was money well spent (question is, how many of these photos will you be taking?)
4) When you connect via USB to charge, you can't access the photos on the camera directly (as a mass storage device) so you must always copy via the, frankly, rather awful PlayMemories camera app. Camera360 now supports the QX10 but it's buggy, although I expect a fix will come in due course.
5) The zoom is fantastic - no complaints there.
6) The battery life is good from what I can see - but I still worry that I'll forget to keep it charged, as it joins a list of things to keep topping up before I go out (Pebble watch, phone, portable battery pack/charger etc).
The QX100 is no doubt a LOT better in image quality, but at the extra price (and with the loss of zoom) I am not in the market for one anyway.
The QX10 is the nicer size, but I really don't know if I'm ever likely to use it enough to justify having purchased it. I hoped, perhaps rather stupidly, I'd be able to use this instead of my Sony NEX camera (even with the loss of a flash) but with the viewfinder lags, slow image transferring and so on - it's really not a viable alternative to a separate camera if you really need improved image quality, or a powerful zoom.

Perfect honest answer thanks bud. I think you are right, I was looking at the qx100 as an upgrade to my point and shoot but I think I might just invest in a good dslr. If I am out trying to snap some great pics I usually head out on hikes with that intention. I don't think these devices are quite there yet. I have been impressed with how the main shooter on this phone performs and if I need something better I might as well bring a camera.

I think that's why I pre-ordered the QX10 and now regret it a bit. I'd be really gutted if I'd paid the extra for the QX100 - however good the photos.
I bought the QX10 on Amazon. I ultimately returned it for the Galaxy S4 zoom but I'm not sold on the Samsung either yet. I'll post my Amazon review here rather than re-creating it.
I bought this item after weeks of review and months of anticipation. After hearing about the launch I could NOT wait for the product to be released. The price seemed a little high so I waited a bit. I purchased an Amazon Wharehouse deal (probably from someone who posted a negative review and returned it) for the QX10
All I can say is its a mixed bag.
When it works it is fantastic. It's a great point and shoot camera with very simple controls, that produces great results. I was able to capture great long range zoomed shots of a soccer game that froze the action in place. I took some very low light shots of text from 3 feet away that was still very visible. I shot stills from both the macro level and far off zoomed and they all looked great. The Sony Auto modes are just what I need. Being able to operate the camera unattached from the phone is an added bonus. Since it is so small at a birthday party I was able to hold it high over my head and basically create a "crane" shot without actually having a tripod or large piece of equipment. Then I could see over all the other people to zoom in on the shot I wanted. I could see this being very usefull at a child's play or concert to get a unique point of view. I am a photographer so I know how to adjust manually if I need to but the point of a smart phone or point and shoot is to take pictures quickly that "just work". Sony has nailed the concept.
There are, however, issues. Like everybody has said in the negative reviews the connection can be iffy. Even on my Galaxy Note II the connection was hit or miss. It was a complete crap shoot as to whether the next time I touched the NFC tag, it would Open and Connect, Just Open and fail to connect, or do absolutely nothing. This is not the device you want to rely on to capture quick action. Once connected, however, I found the software to be pretty solid. I really like the ability to transfer photos to the device. I dug deeper and found a setting that lets you transfer the full image when copying. I would only recommend this when you have time as the files are quite large. I waited till the end of the day and transferred all 200 pictures at once, which took about 20 minutes. Still, its a great option, especially for someone like me who likes to backup everything to a shared NAS either nightly or every couple of nights.
Ultimately, this is a device you want to carry around but not necessarily use all the time. Use your phone for the pretty sunset you happen to catch on the way from the office of the silly shots at the bar. You bring along the QX10 to the Baseball stadium or a wedding to get those shots you want to look better as keepsakes, or when you need a Zoom. I guess you could say why not just bring along the DSLR on those occasions, but the QX10 is MUCH easier to carry. For instance at the Soccer game, I had my phone (as always) and all I needed for the Zoom ability was to slip the QX10 into my sweatshirt pocket where it sat till I needed it. No camera bag, or heavy camera body around my neck. If you can justify the price for that, I think it's a win.
Has anyone else found the phone case with the QX10 attachment to be very fragile? I mean 3 of the corners have cracked and 1 of those has broken (a small bit snapped off!). I've dropped the phone a couple of times but from very small distances but surely the case shouldn't break so easily? And yes I'd rather the case broke than the phone before someone asks
I haven't dropped my phone, yet, but that still sounds pretty bad. I did wonder how it would stand up to being attached and removed repeatedly, so I guess I probably have my answer now.
I don't use my QX10 much, so I only really keep the case on because it's the only case that still lets me use my DK31 dock.
The Sony Xperia-approved Roxfit case doesn't, and I'm unsure what other cases are on sale that do. I do have to wonder why Sony made two inserts for the dock when the 'larger' one really isn't large enough!
I should've also mentioned that when taking a picture with the internal camera, if the flash is used it bleeds across the lens as the case is a bit too much of a perfect fit. I'm torn because despite all this I still really like the functionality of the case due to the ease of attaching the QX10. Frustration guaranteed with this case it would seem.

That's such a common problem with cases (my parents each had that issue with covers on their iPhones) that I'm amazed it still keeps happening!
But, happen it does.
I'm half tempted to go back to having the phone in no case at all, as I did for the first few days, but there's an obvious risk with this. Of course, it solves the problem with using the dock!
I got the QX100 and absolutely love the images it produces, the zoom is acceptable, low light is really good, colours are accurate, warm, sharp and the unit is easy to use, thats really were it ends.
I also purchased Z1 attachment case for AU$29 it is cheap looking, provides no protection top and bottom of phone and has sharp edges that are sure to scratch the anodizing from the Z1 side housings.
The software that pairs the two is appalling and real time viewing is inaccurate it is only when viewing the shots or video you can gauge the real quality ( I should add that the shots and vids comes out very nicely in most cases) hopefully software updates can improve upon this.
In summary (and I am no pro or photographer) the QX100 does a very very nice job of low light, artificial light and sunny conditions even in auto mode, even-though it is hard to gauge real time.
The facts are that most shots come out better than expected, is it worth $500+, hell no! but it is extremely cool and very convenient since it saves taking another device along. I would recommend this product if it were $200 cheaper or more, however, if you have money to burn I say burn! you'll love it.
Try Camera 360, which now has support for the QX lenses (and has had a recent fix for some bugs relating to transferring photos).
It still jerks as the viewfinder image is streamed to the phone, and that's the real weakness of the whole concept.

I'm finally moving on from my original Samsung Galaxy Note, and I'm debating what device to move to. This will be my one and only phone, so I'm looking for something well rounded.
After reading reviews of a lot of the best phones on the market, I'm leaning towards a LG G3. It looks and feels fantastic, has a really good camera in both day & night conditions, the screen is awesome, it *seems* to hold up underwater (in spite of no official IP rating), the battery life seems pretty good, etc.
That said, some of the overheating issues I've read about are worrisome - as well as a few other stability issues... I'm not sure how much stock to put in that.
So I'm also considering the Samsung Galaxy S5. It doesn't feel as great, the screen isn't as mindblowing - although it is more vibrant, the camera doesn't do as well in the dark, it seems like one of the most durable phones out there, etc.
Is the S5 significantly more stable than the G3? How do the development communities compare - are they on par in that regard? Can the stability / overheating issues of the G3 be successfully mitigated with tweaks? Is it going to be a nightmare to wrangle into shape?
Or is there another AT&T phone that you'd recommend? Other phones on my radar include the Flex, Note 4, M8 and OnePlus One...
I guess I'm looking for something that's going to hold up as a primary phone for a long time, both in terms of durability and specs, without becoming a nightmare to manage as my Galaxy Note has... and aside from that, my priorities include battery life, stability, video recording (especially in dark conditions), processing power, screen, look / feel, etc. in roughly that order.
The G3 is, in my book, definitely the most charismatic phone this year. Great camera, okay screen, great handling, even with one hand. The battery life could be better, but then again, I use it heavily, so it's to be expected...
It gets warm on occasion, rarely now since its been upgraded to the 10H version tho, I don't mind it, every phone will get hot while performing dual window Chrome/Whatsapp while multitasking between a few other apps in one of the windows and playing music in the background.
I was waiting for the Moto X to take his spot in the charisma department but that didn't happen..
HTC M8 is the smoothest, has the best build and sound but lacks in the cam department, which is a no go for me.
The S5 is the best all rounder, but has nothing special about it, and I do mean nothing. Sure, you get the fingerprint and heart rate thingy, but, as with all those Samsung features , who really uses them effectively from day to day life. And the touchwizz... Every Samsung phone looks and feels the same lately(phonebook delay).
That said go with the Z3.
It's cool, it has a good camera, feels and looks premium(even tho I don't care about trivial stuff like that), can go underwater, has 3gigs of ram, a nice processor, good screen, good speakers, and a UI that works just fine(I hate the Sony "windowed cheap UI" xD)
Oh, and to top it all, best battery life there is..
And if you got tired of a big screen with the Note, like my brother did, you can always go with the Z3 compact, even better battery life and all the same stuff inside.

Hmmm... I wasn't really putting much consideration into the Z3, as it's not offered by AT&T and I'm eligible for an upgrade from them, meaning the G3 is only $199.99.
Can you think of any way to get a Z3 that would be operational on AT&T for a similar price? I don't want to switch carriers, as AT&T has the best reception in the areas I live / visit and I'm still grandfathered into their unlimited data plan.

My biggest concern with the G3 overheating would be the possibility of setting up my phone to take a video of a concert I'm performing in, and returning to find it had overheated, shutdown and I had lost the footage. I heard of that happening to a lot of people at the beginning; has the 10H version taken care of that??

Nah, I like big screens
I will say that the G3's screen seems much more handleable in the palm of my hand than the Note, but anything up-to-and-including the size of my Galaxy Note is more than fine with me, and I'd *possibly* be fine with going a bit bigger.

I'm not really interested in the fingerprint sensor or heart rate monitor -- they feel like gimmicks to me. The leading features for the S5 in my book, over the G3, are the durability (waterproof; SUV-crush-proof; etc.), screen brightness / color, and the fact that it doesn't seem to overheat... at least not as badly?
I may be wrong on that last point, but it *seems* like a more reliable phone as such. Am I right in that assumption?

Okay, can't help you with this one since I live in Croatia. But I suppose $200 is a bargain on the G3

On this part, I decided to do a little test.
I went and shot 3 uHD(4k) videos one after another. (Three 5 minute videos, since the shooting limited by the software to prevent overheating) The temperature outside was 20-ish°C(68°Fahrenheit), and while the phone did get quite warm, it did not shut down.
And on that matter, I never encountered a shut down due to the temperature or any other unknown reason.
Why did I mention the temperature?
Well you see, I bought it 2 months ago, and when I got it, it had 10B version on, and the temperatures outside were hellish... 35°C (95F) or more... That didn't help cooling it off if it ever got hot.

Yeah, I'd say it's a lot more handleable than the Note, since the Note has a wicked screen ratio, it's quite wide...

Well, I really can't say much on the reliability part.
But in my opinion, waterproofness and dustproofness are good, really good, but not a must, since my phone has no time to get dusty(Bahah), and I'm not one to shoot underwater videos... When on the beach, swim, dive, jump off of cliffs, enjoy it.. The phone can take a day off, even though not everyone agrees.
I'd say the S5's got a better screen, but it comes down to amoled/ips preference... It most certainly is brighter, has a better contrast and colors. The only thing in that department the g3 has got going is the 2k mega giga user high pixel density beast(nahh) of a screen...
And i love it. It's got this mild tone to it, might sound crazy, butI feel like I'm looking at a painting from time to time.

So the video recording time is limited to only 5 minutes per shot? That's... pretty unideal. I would like a phone that I could setup before an hour or two long set, and leave there recording to capture a concert I play. I've done this with my Note before in the days before it deteriorated (with the charger plugged in and on airplane mode), and it usually did fine...
Are there work arounds for that 5 minute recording limit - ideally ones that won't make the phone overheat? Are there similar limits on the recording capabilities of other phones out there these days?

I just did some research and learned that the S5, while prettier at first, is actually creating inaccurately eye-popping colors - so I'm less interested in it now. On top of that, I hear that the quality of AMOLEDs degrade over time?
The G3 - is it bright enough to be pretty effective outdoors in daytime? I'm hearing mixed things about that...
G3 also has lags and screen brightness goes down automatically when overheated just a little bit.
It's annoying.
Also the halo effect issue and oversharpening, less screen brightness, less battery, less performance, etc.
SGS5 is better, although G3 has better design.

I believe that the time limit is only set to uHD videos, you can still shoot HD or FHD(30 and 60fps via some modifications) for as long as you've got space on your storage.
I'm not sure about other phones but ultra HD takes 1 gigabyte of space for 5 minutes of video, so time limit aside, that's a but much as it is..

Well, they say that ips lcd screens mature over time, meaning that the colors settle, and they get better, be it in colors or brightness, I'm not sure.
The S5, as every Amoled screen does create oversaturated colors, they do degrade as time passes and there is also the burn in issue along with that.
But! You can set it to, I don't know what's it called, ?natural? mode, that displays the colors accurately, and quite precisely at that.
And let's be honest here, no one buys an Amoled phone screen only to put it to natural, they like their colors to POP...
Yep, the G3 is bright enough for outdoor use, as I've put mine in direct sunlight and browsed the Web "easily", no real issues there, I'd say like most phones.

I upgraded to a G3 a month ago. My previous phone was a Galaxy Note 2. One of the main reasons why I didn't chose for a Samsung phone is the heavy usage of touch wizz on the system. The G3 is a great phone. Fast, good camera and great design. I recommend the G3.

Here's my opinion on this topic. I've been using my note 2 for about year and a half now. The phone is great and just keeps getting better, but I've decided that my next phone won't be this big. It's not bugging me that much but when I try to browse or do simple stuff with one hand I constantly have to "adjust" the phone. That being said I agree with marimo there that G3 is the most charismatic phone this year, but I'd definitely go with the m8 because it's just a brilliant phone in every possible way~ (with an OK camera). I would recommend you Note4 because it will probably be the phone of the year, but I like changes and I wouldn't buy another touchwizz phone at this point.

I've owned galaxy s3 and s4. I moved on from the s4 to the G2 and never looked back. I got the G3 when it was released and can honestly say it's the best phone I've ever owned. LG knows what they're doing and you can tell they really listened to their customers and reviews with the software overhaul. The downside to the G3 atm is (unless you have T-Mobile or international) all we have is root. Now, let me say that even with only have root and xposed this device is insane. Once you greenify and Titanium freeze bloat the battery lasts a long time. I'm a heavy user throughout my day with downloading movies, internet, watching YouTube and sports highlights and have my screen at 55% with autobrightness active. I get an average of 5 and 1/2 sot and usually still have 40-50% battery left after I work 8 hours. I highly recommend this device. The screen is gorgeous. Its a very responsive device.
There are a few bugs that need a software update fix (aux/headphone system confusion - the device sometimes has issue deciding if the device is an aux cable or headphones. Sometimes it will connect and disconnect. Annoying.). There are some chrome issues as well but those seem to be chrome bugs and not G3 bugs.
I can't recommend this device enough. If you want to read something funny check out MacWorld's G3 v iPhone 6 comparison article. They admit the G3 is head and shoulders better and actually end the article with "which doesn't matter bc you're all buying iPhone 6 no matter what we say." made me laugh.
Yeah, I agree with Breaking, G3 is a great phone and after rooting, debloating, and tweaking, it's even better! My battery has settled and improved and the camera is insanely good. It heats up a little at times but clear recents and give it a quick rest is what I usually do, and never over 110f so not that hot.
I came from G2, Moto X, S4, Note 3 and Lumia windows phones before that and the G2 and G3 are my overall favs!

I'm sitting here with my old ass s4 which has a busted front glass piece but I did surgury on it and placed some tempered glass for a gangster (i've seen some harsh times) look.
In all seriousness I'm not liking my g3. I went from s3 --> s4 ---> g3
Phone is; fast, nice screen (although I prefer the color of an amolded OVER this QHD stuff. And for some reason my viper audio sounds wayyy better on my s4 mdk with hyperdrive running.
1. I prefer the smaller s4 size with better color OVER the big g3 high res screen
2. Sound mods sound better on my s4 and I'm big into music
3. MDK bootloader means I could flash flash away. This g3 is so locked down its not even funny
4. I honestly miss the TW interface and how well samsung has integrated their software with the Android OS. It just seems to flow better in terms of galary sync, contact sync, (g3 contact sync screwed up my contact list somehow)
I find too often I am on the verge of dropping this phone as I reach across to hit buttons on the far side of the screen. Call me lazy but I could simply navigate and swype type faster on my s4 due to the smaller screen. was nice

Well that is what anyone coming from an Amoled would say. Aaand should not be accounted for!
My brother also prefers Amoled ones, while I prefer Ips panels.

Indeed I prefer Amoled panels, but HTC One, Z3 and even LG G2 have better panels than the g3. This is a fact. I'm not saying that G3 's panel is bad, but it just lacks compared to other flagships. It's just like iPhone 5 camera is weaker compared to most android flagships but it's still a very good one.

I agree with you. The G3 display is the worst regarding colors. So weak and bland.
I know the overwhelming majority will shun the iPhone, considering the forum. But I'm curious if anyone else is in a similar situation.
I bought the 5X when it was released and right around the same time my work bought me an iPhone 6s. I've been a long time Nexus user and this is the first iPhone I've owned since before my Nexus One. I gave them both a try for about a week each, right off the bat. But I quickly settled in with the 5X as I'm pretty hooked on rooting and making minor tweaks to make the experience perfect. However, as time has progressed and I began seeing how useful little features like force touch can be for coworkers and friends who have the phone, it made me start going back to the iPhone more.
I now find myself popping my SIM into the iPhone for a week or so. Then, when a new kernel or ROM update is released for the 5X, I switch back to that for another week or so. I've found that the cycle is just endless and I can't seem to break it. Both phones are fantastic in their own right and both offer unique experiences that I just can't seem to sway away from on a permanent basis.
With all this back and forth, I can say three things for certain...
1) The Nexus 5X takes better photos. I did not expect this to be the case but I've found this to be true in just about every case.
2) The iPhone size/build quality are absolutely perfect. I suppose the Nexus 6P would be a good comparison in terms of build quality. But man, Apple built the perfect size/feeling phone this time around.
3) The external speaker on the iPhone makes the 5X one sound like garbage. I am on conference calls with my phone set on external speaker A LOT. So this is something I notice daily.
Anyway, my Fiance thinks I'm nuts for constantly going back and forth. But after a few months of this, I still just can't make my mind up.

It's funny because last night I was reading a review comparing the 6S and the 5X and one of the things that came up was the ease of integrating apps with tasks on the iPhone. My daughter has the 6s and last time I was there she wanted to forward something from my phone to a contact and it was a little cumbersome. She had said the exact same thing, "..this is nuts dad. It's so not intuitive." I had to laugh reading that last night. Anyway, my wife asked why wouldn't you get an iPhone if it works better? (She has a Sammy S5 unrooted) Is it just because it's Apple? So then I went into the litany of changing roms, kernels, rooting, overall experience and all the time I waste spend messing with the phone and chatting here. I didn't look up but I'm sure she was shaking her head. lol
Anyway, if you don't want to mess around with customization and trust Apple to do the right thing then it's probably a no brainer other than the exorbitant price they charge. Both my kids have one and they are indeed very nice and sleek devices with great battery management. If they ever get Google Fi over to them (hehe) I might get one for my Mrs. and dump VZW once and for all. As for me, well I'm now waiting for the 5p next year. Then the wife gets the 5x with Google Fi and systemless root naturally.
Thanks for the response. Adding to your point of great integration with the iPhone, the seamless coherence between my iPhone and my Macbook Pro is fantastic. Using the Reminders/Notes apps on the iPhone and on OSX makes working on the go refreshingly easy. I tried to replicate this with the use of Google Keep and Google Calendar reminders, but it just isn't as fluid. And when it comes to the delivery of notifications, IOS does it with such a "professional" feel in comparison to the cartoony like notifications on Android.
God, I'm starting to sound like an Apple Fanboy...
I'd say my biggest gripe with the iPhone, is the lack of customization. I just hate how they try to force you to vomit every app icon onto your home screen. I've navigated around this by dumping all my apps into a single folder and putting it in the dock. But this is nowhere near as good as having a dedicated app drawer like on Android.
It looks like my conundrum is more in my changing of taste for what I want/need out of my phone experience. But I keep trying to hang onto all that I love from Android.
And then there are those apps that you just can't get Apple store to approve and thus you're out of luck unless you jailbreak. And there is no Chainfire to get you through that process either. lol. Yeah, the kids have Macbooks also, forgot about that. They love the seamless integration. I don't think I'd want an iPhone to tempt me but they are nice for sure. And they rave about the battery life. Well time for me to tweak my Nova launcher Pro that I got with my $50 Play Store credit, flash an updated kernel, and configure some new options in Cataclysm's latest mod. Now which lockscreen wallpaper should I use?
I go back and forth between a 5x and iPhone 6 Plus and have a Nexus 6P arriving Saturday.
The 5x is going back to Google as I just don't get great battery life with it. The 6 Plus has the best battery life of any phone I have owned and I don't turn anything off. Doze is getting Android to that point but still not at the same level as the battery efficiency on the 6 Plus.
I have had the 6P already and sold it but loved my time with it so I found a 32gb Aluminum for $425 on Swappa so a late Christmas present for me.
So I'm in the same boat. IOS is more polished but you are limited to what you can do. Android allows so many options to tweak that you can never totally be satisfied. I can and do use both.
I tend to drift towards iOS now as it integrates better with my work but the Nexus 6P is a great option.
The 6P vs 6/6s Plus is a better comparison as they both are excellent phones. 6P has the better camera while 6 Plus has better battery. IOS apps and IOS in general is more polished. Android is infinitely more tweakable. Size is almost identical with the 6P just a touch taller but the same width. Fingerprint sensor is no contest as the 6P sets up much faster, is faster in daily use and works in pretty much any instance. 6P has the better display and speakers.
I run Google Apps on the iPhone and they work flawlessly but Android implementation of Google Now works better and more completely on the Nexus.
Facetime and iMessage have no real equal in Android. They just work so well between you and other IOS devices. No compression of MMS messages and Face Time is great for when you are away on work.
Great time for the smartphone market as we are getting to the point that the PC has already reached in that the Flagship devices are so good it just comes down to personal preference as either platform can provide a great user experience.
The 6s is no comparison to the 6P. The 6s Plus is. The 6s and 5x are comparable. I too had a 6P at the outset but when I opened the box it was like, "whoa.. this puppy is huge." I tried to like it and although I liked the performance immeasurably, I just couldn't handle the size. It was just too big for a pocket device. I think if I had a purse I could have gone with it. Hmm.. that didn't sound good. I mean if I could carry it in something other than my jeans or gym shorts pocket I might have given it a longer try. It's bulky and it draws a lot of attention when you turn it on too. Sometimes I just want to read a quick text or email but you pull that bad boy out and you gotta do something big with it. Text ain't gonna cut it. But the battery, display and sound are incredible and I know a lot of people that love the 6 so I'm sure they are loving the 6P.
And yes, we do need a Facetime app or at least something that will communicate with it if that's even possible. Probably not, Apple is pretty protective of their software.
How is the battery on the 6S compared to the 5X? I know everyone raves about the Plus iPhone models, just wondering how the smaller one does in your comparison?

Completely agree. My "problem" is actually a great one to have. Both phones are so good, in their own ways, that it really just comes down to the experience you prefer. It's the experience preference that I seem to be struggling with, as of late.

I had this same issue with the Nexus 6. I tried for many months to get used to the size but simply couldn't do it. It was just too big for me. Which is why I couldn't get myself to even consider the 6P because even though it has a much better build than the 5X, it would never work for me in daily use.

In stock form, the 6S battery lasts considerably longer with the same usage. However, after flashing Elemental X kernel the 5X battery is actually quite good. As bobby janow said, the iPhone 6s has the slight edge, but with custom kernels the 5X does get close. With either phone, it's rare that I run out of juice before I head to bed and plug it in.

The problem with the 6 is the width. The 6P is the same width as the 6/6s Plus so it is much easier to hold for me.
I have both
I have both, and I have two SIM cards(One for work, the other one for personal use)
Switched from the iPhone 6 to the 5x.
The battery life on my one-year old iPhone 6 still kicks the crap out of the 5x, even with Doze, sadly. I could go a whole 7am to 11pm day on the iPhone and barely make it, whereas by the time I get home at 5pm with the 5x, it's out of juice.
But I like the 5x so much better, and the 6P is just too large for me (5'7"), so, I've gotten used to charging for 15 minutes when I get home.
Surprisingly the Nexus 5x IPS panel displays a higher image quality than the 6s IPS panel in every metric except max brightness, though the iPhone isn't very far behind.
It's also worth noting that with more strict quality control the iPhone will have less defective devices such as yellowed screens, though it is still a possibility.
However considering the price difference the 5x shouldn't beat the iphone in anything. The fact that it has a better IPS panel and possible takes better (or similar) pictures as well is kinda sad for an iPhone of nearly twice the cost.
iPhone 6s 16GB: $649 USD.
Nexus 5x 16GB: $379 USD (less on sale already)

What's interesting is that if I put both the 5X and 6s side by side and turn brightness up to 100% on both, the 5X display is clearly brighter. So it's strange to me that Anandtech's article says otherwise.
When my fiance gets home from work I'll use her S4 to take a picture of the 5X and 6s side by side at 100% brightness, so you can see what I'm talking about.

Nexus 5X
This comparison is a good representation of how most pictures from each camera look. Both take sharp pictures in most lighting conditions. However, the Nexus 5X consistently takes more accurate pictures as far as color is concerned. We have rather warm lighting in our living room and the 5X captures the real life color tone pretty much spot on. However, the 6S makes it look like we have significantly higher kelvin bulbs in the living room. So in terms of color accuracy, the 5X wins just about every time.
However, if you look at the the ornaments on the bottom left side of the tree, as well as the wall to the left of the tree, you'll probably notice that the 6s handles the low light area slightly better. But both cameras are definitely not great in this category as both produce rather grainy low light areas.
This info is neither here nor there, but I figured I'd include it in the thread anyway.
Why is the tree leaning towards the left? That is more of a concern that the low light.
I don't have an iPhone 6S, but I do have a vanilla iPhone 6. I was looking to sell my OG Nexus 5 since my 5x had arrived, and some dude traded me his iPhone for it. I'll admit, iOS has gotten quite nice over the years since the last time I've actually owned and used one, which was the iPhone 3G. Display is beautiful, thing is fluid in speed, and some other things are nifty, but I still only use it as an iPod.
Now, another phone that I have that I would totally use more often is the Galaxy S6. That phone is a freaking beast, only to be almost completely killed by TouchWiz. Unbelievable display and colors, a PHENOMENAL camera, amazing speaker. It's literally almost perfect in every single way..... Except for TouchWiz. Even with all the specs, the phone slows down to an absolute crawl at times, apps just suddenly force closes, fingerprint scanner sucks compared to Nexus Imprint and TouchID. It's actually kind of a shame.

PURPOSE
So 1st and foremost, the plan here is to give you my experience with these 2 phones. Granted, I have only used the LG G5 for about 2 days now and can't say I have truly put it to task. This will be a unbiased look and comparison. I'm neither a fanboy or sheep. No brand affiliation. Not a programmer either, just a pro-sumer Senior Member of XDA willing to get trolled, flamed, etc. for sharing a look at these 2 phones. Hopefully, I can give "the everyday guy / gal look" without getting bogged down in stats, variables or benchmarks. Here goes...
MY BACKGROUND
No one special. Just a guy that likes the latest tech... phones being at the top of the list. I am a nerd. No doubt about that. I think anyone that knows about XDA probably is to some extent. No brand loyalty. Recently, I have had the privilege to try out the following phones:
1. LG G5
2. Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge
3. Huawei Mate 8
4. Huawei Nexus 6P
5. LG Nexus 5X
6. Samsung Note 5
7. Apple iPhone 6s+
And probably some more, but these are the most recent. Does that make me qualified to make a review... Maybe. It does make me an idiot that likes new phones, though. I am always looking for something that meets my needs but also is a good phone. Currently with TMobile but have been with ATT, Verizon & Sprint at some point 20 years of using cell phones.
MY NEEDS
I drive about 40 miles everyday to work (yes, my work week is currently 7 days a week with a few occasional days off). So, with this in mind and where I drive. I need the minimum requirements:
1. Can Stream Music
2. Bluetooth is fully compatible with my 2016 vehicle
3. An equalizer of some sort since I have only switch out my new cars speakers for better ones and don't plan on changing or adding a better sound system.
4. Decent pictures when needed
5. As a nerd, I like to "mesmerize" people with a pay with your phone app like Apple Pay or Android Pay
6. Works with my Huawei Watch
7. Relatively not laggy - will sometimes do some ROM-ing or some customization but since I tend to get rid of the phones quickly I try not to void warranties or make it too non-stock
THE COMPARISON
I am looking at my experience with the LG G5 and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge under around these requirements and some normal stuff like battery, screen, snappiness, heat, speakers, etc. Here goes:
SOUND OVERALL
Both the S7 Edge and the LG G5 pass my car test. Both successfully hook up with the bluetooth in my Honda and work with the steering wheel controls. Sound-wise through bluetooth, the LG G5 is noticeably louder even with my equalizer app, Bass Boost Pro, overlayed to give my car some nice bass and equalization. The S7 Edge also tends to be less stable with the Bass Boost Pro App sometimes leading it to crash and causing the volume to go insanely high... only bad thing when you use an app not built into the UI of the phone. To note, I could not find a "stock" equalizer in the LG G5 UI. Touchwiz has it own set of equalization but they work horribly, but Bass Boost Pro does work over top of that which was not successful with Lollipop versions of Touchwiz. The S7 edge also tends to "pop" and "crack" every so often too. I listen to heavy metal and hard rock, so I play the stuff loud (Is there any other way to listen? haha). The LG G5 performs better, needs less power to the speakers to be louder and does not have the annoying "your going to go deaf warning" every time you restart the phone. I don't listen to music with headphones because I don't workout with music, run, swim or whatever you kids do know a days that you need a wired headphone. I listen to music the good ole' 'merican way - loud, in my car, with the windows down as much as possible so my devil music infects everyone around it... haha. Seriously, though someone who has experience with headphones can chime in if they want. LG G5's external speakers hands down are just better then the S7 Edge, but that's not saying much considering the speaker on the S7 is like the horn on a 1870's phonograph so it doesn't take much to beat it, basically they are stereo and loud on the G5 so its better.
WINNER: LG G5
BATTERY
Here goes, the LG G5 battery is not as good as the S7 Edge in all accounts. It may come close after being conditioned and after having a few charge cycles but overall it would never last as long as the S7 does. However, its removable and everyone can get a free one with a separate charger. Yes, you will have to carry around 2 batteries to last as long as the S7 Edge but that also means they are replaceable if the battery deteriorates over time. Not going to hit you with stats, battery screen captures, etc. It is what it is and no amount of stats change it.
WINNER: IT'S A TIE AS LONG AS YOU CAN GET A 2ND BATTERY & CHARGER FOR FREE FROM LG, OTHERWISE SAMSUNG S7 EDGE WINS.
HEAT
The LG G5 when taxed does heat up more so then the S7 Edge. During the initial setup when I lit up the Wifi for hours downloading stuff onto the phone it got hot, not going to 3rd degree HTC / Sony burn you white hot but hot nonetheless. The S7 Edge just does not get that hot. (Maybe cause it is underclocked? Just kidding...) Obviously, the metal/plastic body transfers heat to the outside of the phone faster with the LG G5 rather than the glass/ metal combo on the S7... however I did not get a warning like I did on the LG G5 when it was a little hot like I did the couple of times with the S7 Edge. Either way, it seems Samsung's intercooling system "edges" out here (no pun intended... well, maybe)
WINNER: SAMSUNG S7 EDGE
SNAPPINESS
I like to say snappiness rather than "performance" because I am not going to throw up "AnTuTu-ning-Out of this Review Scores" or any other clocking test. Talking real world. Even though both run the same processor with the same amount of RAM, the LG G5 is more snappy and responsive... My reasoning... Touchwiz and bloat. I was even running the S7 Edge with a number of bloat disabled and it still lags here and there. On both, I replaced the stock launchers with Xpirit's HTC Sense 7 for all devices... I like the Blinkfeed Sense Launcher... Yes I'm weird... but I don't really see anyone making a Touchwiz Launcher for all phones thread so I must not be the only one. The only game I play is Clash Royale right now. Both run it fine without heating up too bad. The interface seems to have more customization for the LG G5 UX even though I could not function without the app drawer, thus a custom launcher over top. Stock launcher wise I would give Touchwiz the Edge on that. Why Samsung do you ruin a phone with excessive bloat and unuseful apps that are so deeply entrenched into the UI? I cannot answer that question. I know that the LG G5 does not have a ton of bloat (at least the TMobile Variant doesn't, sorry AT&T customers) and has a bunch of useful additions (like smart settings and the always-on display). Also, things that I disable stay disabled without requiring a special app (I'm "looking" at you stupid LookOut Security) and more so, things can be actually fully uninstalled. With a bunch of different things disabled on the S7 as compared to the G5, it still lags more. When compared to something that really hasn't lag once since setup, it is something to say for the LG G5
WINNER: LG G5
DISPLAY
Ok. Samsung makes good displays. This is known the world over. LG isn't too shabby either. When I look at displays, I look at how they look but also how they work for me. The LG G5 always-on display is awesome and not an after-thought like on the S7. All notifications update on the always on display and in conjunction with the led notification. It's a good 1 - 2 punch. The edge screen is pretty nice too on the S7 just not overly useful. Colors are better on the S7. Auto brightness just works better on the LG G5... can't say why. it just does. I also tie-in the fingerprint sensor here. Its lightning fast on the LG G5 and I like the rear of the phone placement like the Huawei Mate 8 & Huawei Nexus 6P. The one on the S7 is fast when it doesn't lag, thanks again TouchWiz. Both LED's are bright and functional. Yes, the LG G5 has black light bleed on the edge of the phones. You will see people in reviews going crazy over this... I have 2 bags filled with something as to how much this honestly effects me (the something is Dicks). Once again, real world stuff that effects me.
WINNER: FUNCTIONALITY LG G5... PRETTINESS SAMSUNG S7
PHONE DESIGN
Here's where I am going to give a honest opinion and not this knee jerk, I haven't looked at it, Samsung Fanboy comment. Yes, the S7 edge is a pretty looking phone, designed well and has niceties like wireless charging. With that said, the G5 is not an ugly phone, its just a first attempt of something different and completely different direction for LG. With that said, could they have done a little more, maybe. Could they have come clean about the metal / plastic backing before putting it out there that it is all metal, of course they could have. Ergonomically, the G5 feels better in the hand and if I hold it around the edges the screen doesn't go haywire (oops AND I know Samsung is going to fix this). I have the Gold LG G5, which I quickly put a Ringke Slim Black Matte Case on, looks cooler with the case which says that yes the design is a little lacking. Its like looking at Kirsten Dunst... You would bang her if she was right there in front of you wanting it... however, if it was between her and lets say Megan Fox, yeah you would chose Megan Fox.... Not that Kirsten is hideous but she's not Megan Fox. Also much like Kirsten, there's things to like and not like about the LG G5's appearance. I think the "chin" as it is being called is like Kirsten teeth, some find them intolerable others find them cute. The dual camera and sensor setup on the back is not bad looking either but some find it slightly out of place. I don't mind either and with the case it looks a lot better (yes, I know the "pig" analogy here about "dressing up..." kinda of rude to call Kirsten a "pig" though, hahaha)

CAMERA
Last and for some not least is the camera comparison. I place it last because I cannot say it enough... if you want good photos use an actual camera, point & shoot or DSLR. A phone camera is a substitute for a DSLR like Channing Frye is a substitute for LeBron James... yes, Channing might get the job done but in a big game you want LeBron. Cameras on phones are progressing to be better however they will always have 1 thing they can't overcome... that's physics. Plain and simple. You will never achieve what a big camera does because its bigger. Sensor, the lens, etc. is bigger captures more light, bigger surface area for the chip to absorb the image, etc. That's why I place this last. I look at a phone camera to be functional, take good pictures in a pinch or a setting where I can't take a bigger camera or just don't want to. I know what the limitations are and understand that I'm not going to be Ansel Adams with it. Therefore, I have not taken many pictures with either. The lens F-stop is better on the S7 Edge and thus let in more light leading to better overall pictures in low light. Physics not opinion. (thanks $30000 art institute degree) Dual Camera allows for wider field of view on the G5 due to the dual cameras. Once again, physics. At the end of the day, its what you need and how much more you will use it. Like to take pictures in bars of your friends drinking too much and getting wasted, probably the S7 is better for you. Like to take pictures of vistas outside with your phone thinking your Ansel Adams only to realize he use far superior equipment to take his pictures over 70 years ago, the G5's camera is your ticket
WINNER: IT'S A TIE AS I DON'T HAVE A REAL OPINION JUST YET
CONCLUSION
For me, the LG G5 is a nice phone and on par with the S7 Edge. It will work for me until I get to compare it hopefully to the high end M10 from HTC. Will it be everyone's cup of tea, no. And that's why there's options for everyone to choose what they like. Options are like opinions are like something else everyone has... I personally would say from a everyday usage standpoint, the LG G5 wins out. From a Megan Fox, Jennifer Aniston, Emily "To Long for a Jersey" Ratajkowski standpoint, the Samsung S7 Edge is where it is at... just remember though with all that beauty comes some high maintenance. There's nothing wrong with a Kirsten Dunst, Melissa Benoist, Kaley Cuoco phone... in fact, it might even surprise you in the end... (i.e. check out some photos of those 3 on the internet... haha)

I'm really starting to like my G5. I think the thing that is really winning me over is how snappy everything is combined with some nice customization options with the virtual buttons. I also put a clear case on it and it looks rather sleek. The camera is miles ahead of my OnePlus One. I do wish the battery was bigger but with how my One's battery started to go to crap after 18 months, I really wanted to go back to a phone with a user replaceable battery.
Overall, I think I made the right choice for me. I can't go back to Samsung's lag even if the S7 Edge is pretty freaking amazing. It all comes down to your personal priorities.

I have to say the closes I have come to a "perfect" phone is the Huawei Mate 8... if it wasn't for the fact that Android Pay doesn't work, it ia one of the best running phones... Can't wait to see the P9 Max with the Leica Camera... looks sweet

I upgraded to an S7E last Thursday. During my lunch break today, however, I returned it and got a G5. It's only been a couple of hours, but it's already growing on me. I wasn't immediately hooked on it as I was with the S7E. It's been gradual: the more I use it, the more I like it. I'm not going to lie: the S7E does feel more premium than the G5 -everything from its heft when you hold it, to it's overall design. I also found the edge screen useful. But I realized I can accomplish the same tasks on my G5 that are possible on the S7E if I use a good launcher and widgets. The S7E was also a tad to big for my hands. It was uncomfortable for me to use with just one hand. The G5, on the other hand, is the perfect size for my hand. The G5 does feel faster than the S7E, and even though I've only taken a couple of photos, I like its camera more, too. The interchangeable battery is what ultimately did it for me. I enjoy having that option way too much. Another deciding factor? Innovation. I value that highly. I think LG is onto something, and it's rewarding to see a company willing to innovate as LG has done with the G5.
I also felt the LG G5 was much more responsive and snappy than the S7 Edge. Great review, enjoyed the read.

I agree with just about everything. The one thing I'll add is the unlock process is even snappier on the G5. I had the S6 edge and the the S7 edge (for about 3 weeks) and found the fingerprint sensor to lag at times and even sometimes not recognize my fingerprint. Yes, I tried deleting and redoing my fingerprint over and over but still had the same problem. Typically, it wasn't bad. Just not as quick as the G5. Also, to me, the sensor on the G5 was in a more comfortable position when I picked up the phone. I also liked the fact that you can double-tap the screen if it's laying flat on a desk and then use a pattern if you don't want to use the sensor. Double tapping the screen also puts it into standby mode rather than hunting for the power button.
And lastly, the AOD on the G5 is much more useful. I have many apps that give me notifications (not just missed calls and texts) so the ability to see which app is causing a notification without turning the phone on is huge. It's possible Samsung has a software update to correct this limitation, but for now G5 AOD is much more useful.
Hi.. noobie here, but long time lurker.
Just got a G5 from a G4 and so far i'm pleased. Was wanting either a S7 or S7E since the Note 7 died that horrible death. I do like the smaller form factor and it is pretty zippy. However, at times, the speeds online are slow, but side by side, when faster, it beats my G4 on Ookla's speedtest.
Interesting comparison. I've been using a G5 for a few months now with one having been stolen and the other a cracked screen from a crazy concert fall lol. Instead of using insurance for a second time I've opted to get a Nexus 6P used to try something different. I'm still not sure if I'd rather just get my G5 fixed. There are some major things I'm missing on it. How would you compare the 6P against the G5?

Next the Note 8 caught my eye ever since I saw it on display in a store. It was a great phone. I didn't have any major issues with it. Except for the one simple fact of managing notifications (mostly texts) on the lock screen. It was more steps to complete the same task on the Note vs the iPhone. Once or twice is no big deal, but all day long it got annoying.

I tried a bunch of different messaging apps. None of them allowed you to simply reply from the lock screen without having to unlock your phone and fiddle with notifications every time. The solution is to have no security. Is that really a solution?

So I'd say I had my fair share of experience on both OSes.
I was very active on here with my Note 2. I really loved that phone, but again it got old and was time to move on.
My Note 3 had so many issues after only a few weeks with it I got rid of it and Apple has locked me into their ecosystem since...
However, I feel like Apple has lost it's touch. They're getting worse and worse. Consumers are becoming beta testers and the software is becoming so sloppy that I am literally afraid to update because of my phone slowing down, killing battery life, breaking something, etc...
Currently the Razer Phone and the OnePlus 5T have my attention. Hardware is pretty similar on both phones, although the Razer phone has that beautiful 120hz screen. Not sure it's worth the price difference though.
Performance is about the same on both phones since they have pretty much the same hardware. I think it comes down to personal preference as to fingerprint location, expandable storage, speaker quality, headphone jack, etc... One big complaint I see about the Razer Phone is brightness. If I'm outside and can't see the screen that's not going to be good.
More importantly to me is how the phones will be supported after purchase. My biggest fear is a company making a phone like this and then dumping support for it 6 months down the line for a new phone or giving you the run around for a warranty claim.
Can you sell me on either phone?

The other deciding factor was software. I knew the OnePlus would have years of excellent Dev support with the latest custom firmwares and all the tweaking I would ever want. The Razer, didn't have this guarantee.
I got the 5T and it is wonderful. The screen is gorgeous (Samsung) and it gets 8h SOT over 48 hours.
I was on the same boat and looked at the razer and the screen was just so dim, I read its like 300nits of brightness which is more than half of the note 8.
the battery takes a big hit with 120hz on.
I got my oneplus 5t coming today so can wait.

Am in the same boat. I have the note 8 and the thing has been fast. I am however attracted by the 8gb on the 5t and razer, and am also very much undecided. Am not bothered about the price difference, my main debate is which is more faster between the 2?

Really, the battery? I've heard nothing but good reviews about the battery on the Razer. I actually prefer LCD over AMOLED. I'm just used to looking at LCD on my iPhone. The iPhone X OLED gave me migraines.
Software is definitely a big deal. I know OnePlus has a good record of updating. Razer is an unknown and at this point that's my biggest concern.
Someone on Reddit told me the 5T got a KRACK fix already. iOS is still unpatched lol

Both should be faster than the Note 8, which I thought was pretty damn fast. I turned animations to 0.5x which sped things up a bit.
Watching some speed test videos between the Razer and the 5T they both were neck and neck as far as speed goes. Some apps were faster on one phone, but only by milliseconds.
Only thing about razer is lack of dev support at the moment and that's where the oneplus will definitely excel. Even root is not yet available. I could do without dev support but root is a must for me.

Eh, neither is a deal breaker for me. I know root on the Razer definitely will void your warranty. Judging from my interaction with Razer support so far though, they likely won't care or check it. Seemed pretty clueless about simple questions, which is kinda steering me away from that phone.
Let's just say , first day using my 5T, and I am amazed.
I've used 50+ devices in the last 4 years.
This phone is arguably a better daily than the S8.
All of the deal breakers I had in mind about the phone are gone.
The speaker sounds fantastic for a single one,
Water resistance has left my mind ,however it would be nice.
The 3.5mm jack sounds beautiful.
And the screen is wonderful.
I can't believe it's only $499!!!
I've had the G6 and S8. This phone is right there with them.
A big what if,
The camera isn't as good as those flagships. It's not bad. It's serviceable. Hopefully better with updates ?
apparently even though the oneplus 5t does not have water proof certification but tests proof it has indeed some type of water proofing.

Can you explain why?
The Razer phone will be basically unusable in direct sunlight.
The Razer phone will have little to no dev support.
Will the Razer phone continue to get updates for 2+ years? Who knows...
The Razer phone costs $200 more.
The Razer phone will almost certainly have no third party accessories beyond a few ****ty cases from AliExpress.
OnePlus 5t has none of these problems.

I too am deciding whether I should take the 5t or the 3t. I am a student and have around 400 £. My main issue with the 5t right now is that it seems a bit to large for me. I have the s7 and would like to know if the 5t is really a big phone.
Also, do you think the camera will be better than my s7?

I can assure you that you definitely won't be disappointed with your decision.
My last phone was a Pixel and in my opinion this 5T is a much more premium device, faster, way more features, better sound through speaker and Bluetooth, much better and brighter screen, very good automatic brightness, better battery life, better everything basically. I don't have a bad word to say about it yet and I am extremely picky.
Also i have the oneplus glass screen protector and the karbon case and the feel in the hand is just superb, everyone I've shown the phone to has been impressed with the appearance and feel of it, it's not very protective but very sleek and keeps the phone thin and light.

Good website to compare sizes, make sure you calibrate it with your current phone or a credit card.
I'm not a fan of large phones either, i hate holding my girlfriend's iPhone 6s plus, I was wondering if I would like the size of the 5T coming from the smaller Pixel but I'm not disappointed at all, it's a very thin phone and I use it one handed most of the time with no issues.
Pulling down status bar can be a bit of a stretch but there is an option to use the fingerprint reader to pull it down.

I too was interested in the Razer.
I realized, although it is first to the table with 120hz screen etc etc.
The phone is sort of like an experiment. The front speakers are a nice touch. I am not a headphone jack whore, but it is indeed a nice touch for the 5T ( quality is excellent btw)
Do not be afraid of camera quality. It's quite good. If using the GCam apk.
Also just the overall software of the 5T, you literally have almost every custom option you could ask for.
The Razer, superbly smooth screen with low brightness.
Dope speakers. Questionable camera. Great build.
We will not know about the updates with Razers new device.
With the 5T, Oreo will be here soon.

Razer is promising alot... Will they deliver? Who knows.
One thing is for sure. For their first phone they certainly hit a home run.
