[Q] Hard brick Problem with UCUFNE4 modem on UCUEMJB bootloader - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Hi
I have a d2att phone which was having some problems to catch the signals
So I had decided to update the bootloader and the modem to the latest version as installing stock etc did not help. I was on CM 11 when the following happened
In a hurry to check if the new modem works or not I forgot to install the new bootloader
now the phone is hard bricked. Does nothing except showing up as qhsusb_dload when connected to computer
I tried a few debrick images in the forum but none of them worked
already consulted with some experts here but no solution in sight
If anyone has the latest modem and bootloader can you provide me with the debrick image

There is no way to recover from this type of hard brick right now. I am very sorry...

Would the debrick image from anyone having the updated modem and bootloader also not work ?

Nope. If you dig back through the debrick thread there are several debrick.img files already. None have worked on that type of brick. You are more than welcome to try though. Its not like it will make things worse!
I am sorry to hear this happened and that I can't really help....

tried 7-8 debrick files but no effect
waiting for a magic spell to wake my dear phone up

You can send it out for JTAG. I previously used a service on ebay for $28. They got the phone to turn on but was unable to fix the bootloader and the IMEI was unknown. Everytime they tried to fix it, it would hard brick again.
Unfortunately, I ended up following another poster's suggestion and replaced the motherboard. I got a cheap broke s3 phone from ebay for $40 and replaced my motherboard with that one.
Good luck.

The problem for which you used JTAG was a different one or was it this only?

It was for the same exact problem in the OP (original post). I initially hard bricked my phone when I was trying to upgrade from MJB to NE4. I flashed the modem when I shouldn't have, and I think that was the culprit.

Ankurbajaj9,
your phone needs either a new emmc or motherboard. It can alternately be used as a paper weight mine weighs 7 Oz with an otterbox on it. Seriously this type of hard bricking you have done to your phone is not fixable. Replace the phone, the motherboard or the emmc.

I dont think it would matter but which rom and recovery did you have on your phone when it happened
and the guys at JTAG .. did they try to upgrade the Bootloader or downgrade the modem or both and nothing worked ? or they do something completely different and I should read somewhere else about it

This model is not sold in India that is why a spare part would be difficult. I dont think importing should be a problem. I'll let you know what happens

I think I saw a couple in the last few days that were going for about $40-60 (US). They were both used devices with broken displays, but the listing claimed the IMEI was clean and device was otherwise fully functional.

I thought when you updated the firmware it would update the modem and bootloader together... I dunno I can from 4.3 and flashed the4.4. Firmware and it updates both the bootloader and modem

the mistake that put my phone into coma

Im afraid it didnt just put it into a coma, but rather totally killed it. Really sorry to hear about that. The best fix I know of right now is to replace the motherboard.

funny thing is .. sometimes when I put in the battery it gives me a flash .. I did not say dead because I have to find a way to bring it back
I'm deciding between taking it to the Samsung service center or the "special Market" for phones or both

The flash is normal. Happens a lot when a device is hard bricked. I wish you great luck on getting it fixed, but not even jtag has worked for this kind of brick. Please let us know how it goes!

That is an international 19300 s3 rom. Only flash roms made for the t mobile sgh-t999. There are many methods for download mode. Try pulling the battery and then hold volume down and home and power while putting battery back into phone. Then put back cover on and then plug into computer and see if Odin recognizes it even if it does not show the download mode screen. If that does not work you could buy a download mode jig. But, unfortunately, it is known that flashing international s3 roms on a US variant results in an unrecoverable brick due to the rom flashing in the wrong mount points. So consider doing a replacement.
I know the feeling, I hard bricked my last phone and had to get it replaced.

These threads make me sad. People brick their devices because they didn't do their research and flash the wrong ROM, and T-Mobile ends up being taken advantage of and replacing these devices. SMH.

NO, NO, and NO, go to device manager, I bet there is a device that says QLOAD**, if it is there, BRICKED. You will not recover without a JTAG service. If you CAN NOT get to download mode, there is NO fix. You can continue to look for a solution that does not exist, or get it over with, either exchange it with T-Mobile (good luck), or bite the bullet with the problem YOU CREATED, and pay 60.00 of the jtag service.

Help! Phone not turning on

Hey guys,
I am having an issue with my phone. I had CM10-M2 running on my phone and I didnt like it that much because I missed some of the stock features so I decided I would flash the foxhound 1.3 rom that just came out. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1708371 that one.
I followed the instructions and did everything that was recommended.
The phone turned off and now won't even go into recovery or anything. Just a black screen.
Please help!
ps the phone is on Rogers and is an i747ma
Thanks,
Zach
Edit: I dont know what this means but when I take the battery out and plug it in the red light comes on but still nothing else

Welp ****. I took it to Rogers but since I bought it off of kijiji they couldnt do anything. It was bought on October 2nd and they said I couldnt even send it for repair because it wasnt registered to me.
I called Samsung and they said to ship it for a repair but even if they can't repair it, they couldnt replace it. The lady said she would have to tell Rogers to replace it but Rogers already said they wouldnt.

Seems like you should research more before flashing roms. If you find out how to fix your phone be more careful next time. If you aren't sure always ask in the Q&A section. A comment from a user can save your phone.

[Q] Repairing Note 2 without voiding warranty

Hi all,
Sorry if the following is a really dumb question - I am new to the forum and new to tinkering with android phones. I find it really hard to understand the jargon being used on here so there is a good chance my question has been answered and I don't know it. Also a lot of the discussion seems to be about rooted phones and mine is not rooted so I don't know where to start.
Yesterday my unrooted Note 2 froze on the start up screen and will only switch off when the battery is removed. I tried recovery mode for clearing the cache and then wiping user data and niether have made any difference. I just get a cascade of red "E: failed to mount" messages.
I guess this is either a bug in the firmware or the internal storage is fried. I can send it off for repair and be without my phone for 3 weeks but I though I should try to reinstall the firmware.
My question is "will trying this invalidate my warranty?". Specifically should I try the following webpage
theunlockr.com/2013/04/06/how-to-unroot-the-samsung-galaxy-note-2-gt-n7100/
Obviously the last thing I want to do is invalidate my warranty when I am about to need it the most.
I am on Orange in the UK if that helps.
Using odin to install a official Samsung firmware (you'll probably need the Orange one), should not invalidate you're warranty.
Probably the best place for you to head is the firmware section of sammobile, type in your model and find the firmware for your country and carrier.

Thanks for the help and again sorry for the dumb question. I just don't want to take any risks at this point because whatever I do I may not get the chance to undo.
I can't find anything specific to my carrier (UK Orange) is it enough to use another one from the same country. Perhaps this is what the unspecified one is (BTU). Does it matter?
BTU is the generic uk unbranded firmware...did you're phone have specific Orange branded firmware before it crashed?

I got the phone from phones 4U so I just handed it to them to send off. If I had dealt with it with Samsung directly they would have either sent over a courier or they would have send me an envelope to send it it. If O2 gave you the phone you can call them or perhaps walk into one of their shops to get it repaired under warranty ... or you can call the Samsung service center. I think either will do.

Hardbricked T999(L)

So long story short, I broke my Samsung Galaxy SIII T999 about a month ago and sent it in to be replaced through my insurance. I thought they had sent me another T999 but instead, they sent me the newer T999L model. I was unaware of this until I managed to hardbrick my new phone by trying to install a firmware for the T999 Model. Lesson learned, 'nuff said.
Now, to my REAL problem.... I've managed to contact a local guy who repairs hardbricked phones via Riff Box/Jtagging. But because this phone is such a new model, there isn't currently an "official" resurrection file out for the T999L. I got in contact with a guy on ebay who repairs phones and he stated that he had created his own resurrection file for the particular model. Buuuuuut he didn't want to share or sell it
Does anyone have access to a T999L resurrection file? I'm a little skeptical of sending my phone to be repaired, just because I've heard stories of phones not being returned and etc. Would my only other option be to perhaps swap out the motherboard on the phone?
Unfortunately, there isn't one. Motodefier and I have been working on creating one, but its not quite ready yet. Almost, but not quite. Ill try to get back to looking at it tonight.
For actual, official firmware, youd have to wait for an update from sammy &T-Mobile.
Our thread is in the development section if you want to take a look.
Sent from my SGH-T999L using xda premium
Ahhhh, thats what I figured. Well thanks for the clarification I really appreciate it. Good luck on finishing that resurrection file :good:
If you do end up sending it in for repair, check out mobiletechvideos.com
I'd steer clear of the guy who supposedly has it, but won't share it. Sounds shady to me. (He may just be waiting for us to finish it!)
As for mobiletechvideos.com, lots of people have given positive reviews in this forum and I've never seen a negative one.
I've seen one other mentioned here that was just as good but cheaper, but can't remember more than that. Maybe someone else remembers.
Sorry I haven't got ours working btw. Ill be able to get back on it again tonight. I'm not the only one working on it though. So keep an eye on our thread.

Its going to be hard to create an unbrickable mod, which I think is probably what you will need, qualcomm simplified thier pinout configuration for the MSM8960 board to keep us from getting into thier pbl but I know it can be done, we will just have to work on it, I will see what we might be able to come up with software wise for a oneclick unbrick for the T999L. Might be hard without having a bricked device to test it on, I will see if I can find one for sale on ebay or something. Its just a matter of time before it happens regaurdless of who gets it done. No promises but we will work on it. You might check this thread and see if you can get some support to adapt it to the T999L http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2023069

So as I'm following this op, basically this device is so touchy and so new that a jtag doesnt even exist even with mobiltech vid?
Do we even have a stock firmware t999l tar file for Odin? For the sake of saving it through dload mode?
I'm gonna stay stock until theres some heavy dev work done, don't need a :banghead: hard brick...

We are currently working on it, I think we're getting close, but not quite there yet. I believe DocHoliday77 has finished the md5's you can use in cwm or twrp but you should double check with him, as we are going through so much info, its a little hard to keep up with everything.

Your only hope outside of a warranty claim or jtag service would be to buy a jig on ebay, and see if that will do it, I had my samsung vibrant do the same back in the day, and the jig saved me, its worth a shot they are usually only 2-5 bucks, beats buying a new phone.

Yeah, thats what I thought and ordered one already. Is recovery process easy as they say in description? They say just plug it in and after 2 sec download logo would appear?
that jtag thing is a micro usb piece probably with some kind of program written in it, why can't developers send those commands through regular usb cable so the phone thinks its jtag?

If the jig works for you, yes it is as easy as they say you will get the download mode logo very quickly after plugging the jig into your phone. If it doesn't work the first time, try borrowing someone else's battery because your battery could possibly be dead, it shouldn't be, but that happened to my Vibrant and I thought it was hardbricked, until I tried another battery, also sometimes the cheaper jigs won't work if your battery isn't fully charged, the one I bought didn't work the second time I used it, battery was around 70-80% I replaced the resistors with some I bought at fry's and it works every time, probably something to do with the quality of resistors being used. If they show a jtag as just a micro usb then its labeled wrong, jtag is usually performed with a riff box, both software and hardware are required to perform a jtag service, and it usually involves getting access to certain contact points on the motherboard, send me the link to what they are calling a jtag I would like to look at it, but most likely it's just a jig, Jtags are pretty expensive because of the type of software they require.

Yeah, youre right, it's jig http://www.ebay.com/itm/USB-Jig-Don...Phone_PDA_Cables_Adapters&hash=item51acb6eae7
Do you think it will work?
Another option I saw on ebay you can send your phone to somebody and they fix it for 25-50$ + shipping.

Please help ! Hard Brick.

My phone doesn't react to anything. It is totally blank so I can't enter download mode. Is there a way to fix it like a USB Jig with Samsung devices ? I don't have warranty on it now.

I was flashing a .kdz to my phone when it stopped at 95% with a wparam error message. Obviously the .kdz wasn't downloaded properly. So I am stuck with a hard bricked phone basically. This must be a very unlucky situation because nobody has ever reported a bricked phone because of flashing a faulty .kdz. :crying:
am in the same boat... i tried everything....and i messed my phone acting noob-ish by flashing a splash.img from optimus g to optimus g pro...non of the guides work becuase when i plug in to my laptop running windows 8.1 pro the device manager say QHSUSB_DLOAD

I was flashing the Korean 4.4.2 when it happened. The laptop doesn't even recognize it so I think that's it.
What model phone do you have?

Maybe you can try what I did? My situation was a little different but I had a hard time getting the stock.kdz into my phone so I sideloaded a custom rom instead. Will only work if you can still at least boot into your custom recovery..

Hope I helped.

JTAG Brick repair might work. But you have to take your phone to the repair shop.Check online for your model.

First check mobiletechvideos.com website. No all repair shop can fix it. Hardbrick needs special eqipment. Mobiletech has that. They are based in Texas. Usually they charge 50 dollar including one way shipping. First email them and they will advise you.I had gone through this process twice when I had samsung galaxy hard bricked. They fixed and shipped to me within a week.
Had the same problem.
Even the riff box didn't do ****.
Check with LG.
I've sent mine to the manufacturer even though I am not the original owner.
They have repaired it and sent it back . turnaround was somewhat 2 weeks.
They did not ask for any proof of purchase.
The 1 year manufacturer's warranty should be active for his to happen.
