[Q] hyper drive rls2 Netflix issue - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Q&A, Help & Troubl

The Netflix app is not working for me all the sudden. Running hyperdrive release 2 when I go to login to Netflix it just sits there and eventually crashes my tablet. Worked fine with rls 1 I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I tried fresh full wipe install of ROM. Running p600 note 10.1 2014. Plz help!!!

I sometimes have problems with netflix, showbox and when watching videos. Not sure if its hyperdrive or kernal but what I do is reboot tablet and everything works fine.It doesnt seem like anyone else has problems playing videos but I do.

For me it wont even let me sign in with my normal credentials.
I tried fresh install with all data deleted and tried both stock modified kernel and their custom kernel and same results. but Netflix is fine with RLS1.
Just with RLS2. It is not critical but its annoying to me. If I can not find answers here I will just wait till Netflix updates and it fixes or hyperdrive updates and its fixed.

Im about to update my hyperdrive and ill see if my netflix will let me login when done.I cant imagine it being anything with rom though. It is kinda weird though.Ill let you know if mine works after updating.Im at work now and just have to back up all my stuff.Did you try to reinstall app? Also maybe try a older version of netflix.

On Hyperdrive RLS2, wiped data & cache, running stock modified kernel and latest netflix. Netflix works and loads video. I restored using Ti Backup though.

Ah well that sucks I tried uninstalling and reinstalling App but have not tried older version or TI backup. that would be interesting to see.

I think I had a similar issue when I was on stock. Haven't tried on Hyperdrive RLS2 yet since I haven't installed Netflix on it yet. Basically whenever I tried to sign into Netflix, it would crash. IIRC rebooting solved that problem, but you have probably already tried that.

So i just updated hyperdrive and my netflix works fine.I had it backed up with titanium backup and reinstalled through that.

I was playing around with reinstalling hyperdrive RLS2 options and lost netflix playback...... this XPOSED module restored login and playback. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2101525

I can't get that to install on my note.... Nothings working ? it did for for a short time but I don't know why then went straight back to not working again.

Update:
the xposed framework I got installed and the Netflix work around seems to have resolved the issue thank you to everyone for your help with this. Netflix works like a champ now!

Hopefully Hyper drive or Netflix come out with an update to fix this issue but until then this will work fine!

[Q] Netflix?

Anyone have any luck getting Netflix to work? I downloaded and tried it and before I edited the build.prop file as per the instructions on Lifehacker (I can't post a link).
The application opened fine but I got the "not supported for your device" message. So I then edited the build.prop file and now when I try to open Netflix it just shuts down asap - in an instant. I tried both edits but with the same results. My Defy is rooted but is running the version of Froyo that came with the phone - I got my Defy the day it was upgraded to Froyo (fortunately). I am happy with the way it works so I have been hesitant to try putting another ROM on there. I use the Zeam Launcher which took away all the Motoblur stuff (seemingly).
It would be pretty sweet to have Netflix!
Thanks
Will be watching this thread, since my wife is *****ing about me having Netflix on my HD2 and she wants it on her Defy
more info
For some reason, I lost Swype. I made a back-up of the build.prop file so I think I should be okay. I just think that this phone as the ability to run Netflix -the app opened fine and looked great but recognized that I was not a supported device. I thought editing the file would solve but instead it instantly shuts the app down. Strange. And losing Swype?! Weird.
Netflix on Defy???
Anybody have it working on Defy yet?

After you edited the build.prop you may need to go and clear the Netflix cache. If that doesn't work do a complete uninstall of it then reinstall. Hopefully that will work.
CM7
I finally just installed CM7 and Netflix works great. You will get a popup about a new version that doesn't exist but just hit cancel and stream away. Really awesome. CM7 is much better.

[Q] Kindle App on 4.4 ROM stopped working

Merry Xmas to all
My Kindle Fire 1st Generation is rooted and now boasting JB 4.4 ROM. Everything worked perfectly until last night when Kindle App stopped working ("Unfortunately, Amazon Kindle has stoped" message). I have tried to reinstall the ROM, wipe the cache and dalvik, install 4.4.2 ROM, downgrade to 4.3 ROM and nothing has worked. Everything else is working fine.
Any ideas or similar experiences?
Cheers everybody.

Yes, I had the same problem, but I was able to get it to work by downloading Build.prop Editor from the Play store and using it to change the ro.product.manufacturer line from Amazon to Samsung. I'm guessing Amazon intentionally stop their non-stock apps from working on Amazon devices to avoid people using non-stock apps by mistake, but hopefully changing this workaround will work for you.

I, too, had the same problem, and your fix with Build.prop editor worked for me! Thanks, thanks, thanks.
There is also a "change to nexus7" zip file in the cm11 thread that probably does the same thing. This is nice because you just add it into the rom/gapps flash. The cm11 rom was the last one I tried to fix this issue before I found "the fix". Now I have to go back and setup HellFire because I haven't found a way to remove the lock screen in CM11.

It turns our non working Kindle app was the least of the problems I had. Shortly after that problem I started getting message SystemUI stopped working and then the screen would flash. 5 or 6 reinstallments, full wipes and the likes later I realised that the ROM was the culprit as after installing HellKat 4.4.2, problem seems to be gone. As for Kindle App, I think problem was latest update which was not compatible with 4.4. I stopped the app from getting new updates and its working for now. Had a glance in quite few Kindle related forums and its seems people agree with that as so many complained of app stoping after getting the update.
As for now, Kindle Fire is happily running HellKat 4.4.2 with lovely red theme. We will see how it goes.

So I just installed CM 10.1.3 and now my kindle app, amazon mp3 app and HBO go apps all crash. I had previously changed the build.prob file to enable access the HBO go, but the amazon apps always worked fine. I just tried to edit build.prob andi I keep getting told that the file is read only. I have tried root explorer and file expert. Any ideas?

AFTV 1st Gen - Rooted - Trouble w/ Netflix

Hi All
I have a rooted AFTV1 and un-rooted AFTV2. I have no problem w/ Netflix w/ the AFTV2 but for the last few days, Netflix complains that it cannot reach it servers on rooted AFTV1.
The SW on this is quite old 51.1.4.0_514006420 http://www.aftvnews.com/roms/
Probably the Netflix App has changed quite a bit. If you think my old SW is the problem, can some of you gurus guide me what would be the quickest way to move to the latest SW, hope I don't have to do update to every release.
Thanks in advance.
Ditto. Tried rolling back many versions of the app. Nothing seems to work. Unroot the only option? Anyone found a cloak to work?

The link below is where to get started updating a Rooted FiresOS 3 FTV1 to FireOS 5.
It's easy. But just make sure you verify you have every requirement checked off before. As long as TWRP is installed correctly then you shouldn't have any problems at all. Since a good install of TWRP will always let you wipe/flash your FTV1.
http://www.aftvnews.com/how-to-install-twrp-custom-recovery-on-a-rooted-fire-tv-1/
I was planning to write a walk-thru of my experience updating my FTV1's. But I ran into a minor SuperSU bug. So have postpone writing the walk-thru until it gets solved. But might write one once I update my 2nd of 4 FTV1's. Been mostly re-flashing the 1st one to try some stuff.
I'm hoping you get around to writing up this walk-thru. That would be super helpful!!!

Will try to get it done this weekend. Plan to mod my second AFTV1 from FireOS3 to FireOS5. With lessons learned from modding & re-modding my first one multiple times.
I updated to the latest prerooted rom by rbox (jan 8 2018) on fire tv 1 and now can't find Netflix.
Once I got to latest rom I realized my netflix was way old (from like 51.1.1.0) and figured this was probably the issue, so under settings all apps, cleared it's cache and data, then uninstalled. Now when I search for netflix it doesn't find anything. Tried resyncing my purchased stuff under my account and still don't see it. Should I try and reflash the prerooted rom again now that I've removed my old netflix apk?

I am having the same issues.
I have tried clearing our cache and data, then uninstall and reinstall.
Same problem. I only had this after the last update.
Have you found a solution?
I also tried to change my resolution settings on the Fire Stick and this did not help either.
Same issue here. Haven't found a solution yet.
I found a solution!!!!!!
I had tried everything and this was the ONLY thing that worked....you ready? You may not like this but:
Reset the stick back to factory defaults.
You won't lose anything unless you had loaded custom apps on the stick through ADB.
You will only have to redownload all your apps, which will be saved in your cloud, so no need to search for them again.
Let me know if this fixes your issue. I am so happy to have all my apps working properly again. It must have been this last update that messed all my stuff up like yours and everyone else's.
Yup. Factory reset, re-activate, reload & re-activate all apps. Everything works now.

Netflix always exits randomly since I upgraded to the latest version!

Hi,
I have several fire TVs, one of them is rooted. since upgraded to the latest version, when I play netflix, after a while , netflix always exit randomly.
why?
any hint?
I'm having the same issue since I downloaded the latest version and it's not just Netflix. I'm having issues with tubi.tv doing the same thing. Also Netflix has problems loading or playing a title. It's especially frustrating and irritating when you watching a show and it starts buffering. It goes to 25%, stops and I have to back out then go back in. It happens quite frequently since I downloaded the new version.

Guys, please specify device, root, FW, etc.. Of you don't include specifics then it becomes a guessing game.
Netflix can be fanikie. When it acts up on me. On my latest FW PreRooted FTV1. I just go to the apps setting. Then do an App Stop & clean the cache. I leave Data alone. Since I prefer to not have to input the log in info. I also have the Apps auto update turned off. So I control when it updates. I only update if none of my other tricks work. As a last resort.
I didn't realize there was more than one kind of Amazon Fire TV. I have no idea what the specifics are. Netflix has never done this before until I downloaded the latest version. I don't believe the automatic updates is on since I never had to update it before. I don't know how to stop and clear cache. Never had to do that either. Maybe my version is different than yours. But I went to settings to see if I could figure it out.

You can clean the cache from the App Settings. In the Apps Management menu.

Is it the rooted FireTV that exists randomly? My rooted AFTV1 box refuses to load now. I've uninstalled the app several times, prior to that cleared cache and data and nothing. It asks for my login info, accepts it, and then ultimately kicks me out with zero error messages.
If I saw the last update correctly, it was updated mid-June and I used Netflix last week. I thought I was the only one this was happening to, but it appears to be happening to others. I wonder if it's a root issue?

If you are on FireOS 3 then yeah. Netflix probably made their latest Neflix app incompatible with old Android versions.

I'm on the newest pre-rooted Fire OS available and the newest version of Netflix. It worked last week, so I'm not sure what is happening this week to cause the outage.
I'm likely to rollback root to stock OS anyway as several OTT TV providers do not work like Vue. They refuse to run when they detect root.

If you're bootloader is unlocked. You might want to wait in case we can get Magisk HideRoot working. Near future project. Don't try it now. But heads up.
For now just turn off apps auto update & install a prior version of Netflix.
