[01 FEB][RECOVERY] ClockworkMod Recovery for HD2 - v1.3

READ ALL OF THE OP BEFORE POSTING QUESTIONS
The Intro;
As we now have NAND booting for the HD2, its time we also had a way to flash ROMs from the SD aswell so here we have ClockworkMod Recovery compiled for the HD2. It is fully working except ROM Manager is not supported.
Recovery can now boot from NAND instead of the old SD Card boot method, to flash the rom, download the recovery with the partition layout you require, then flash as you would a standard NAND rom using DAF and MAGLDR USB Flasher. then select AD Recovery to load into recovery.
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
MAGLDR v1.13 IS REQUIRED, OLDER VERSIONS ARE NOT SUPPORTED, DOWNLOAD v1.13 HERE

Kind note to Devs;
Please stop posting modified flash.cfg files for use with CWM
CWM is designed to make it easier to flash roms without needing a windows PC, if you post a different flash.cfg in each rom thread then it defeats this purpose as a pc will be required for flashing each layout.
Stick to using the default partition layouts or use USB flasher

4. After completed and phone reboots, hold power key and select AD Recovery from list
5. Recovery will now load

For old style SD Boot;
1. download one of the partition files for SD Boot, if you don't know which one you need, use the 250M one or check with rom developer.
2. Extract downloaded zip to a folder of your choice
3. Copy contents of copy_to_sd_root (initrd.gz and zImage) to the root of your sd card
4. boot into magldr and select USB Flasher option while phone is connected to PC

Q&A;
Q. Ive flashed v1.3 but cant access recovery anymore.
A. Make sure you are using MAGLDR 1.13 and are selecting "AD Recovery" instead of "Boot AD SD"
Q. Ive downloaded v1.3 but there is no copy_to_sd folder
A. Recovery no longer requires any files on the SD card, just flash it like a standard nand rom and select "AD Recovery in magldr menu
Q. Can I change the partition sizes used for CWM
A. You can by editing the flash.cfg but this is not recommended, CWM is designed to make it easier for switching roms, by flashing a custom partition size you may stop other roms working and require reflashing a new partition size when you want to change roms.
Q. I dont know which partition size to download
A. Depending on what type of roms you plan on using, you should choose the partition size based on the following.
150MB Partition - For bare roms including CyanogenMod, AOSP, and MiUI
250MB Partition - For Standard sense roms including Desire and EVo based ROMs, can also be used for some squashed HD builds
400MB Partition - For Larger roms including unsquashed Desire HD and Z roms, ROMs REQUIRE data2sd for EU HD2 with 512MB NAND

Please add tags to the title of your threads stating if they are to be flashed with recovery or DAF, [ZIP] for recovery update.zip and [USB] if its installed over usb using daf.
The cache partition is only 10MB so that recovery can still use it, to get cache to work in android, make a directory in data called cachemnt and on boot symlink /cache to /data/cachemnt, this does not apply when using 150M partition size

Is the rom manager support you are talking about the ability to flash different themes and stuff of that nature in recover mode? Also can we expect it in the future?
This is now officially an android phone. Finally get to back up Roms awesome!!!!
Rom manager support is an app that allows you to control the recovery from within Android and then reboot to recovery to run the commands

Rom manager is just the app that that you get from the market to flash without booting to recovery we could wait on that.
what the doctor
this is progress and what ive been looking to add
Just to clarify the instructions... Do we extract the Downloaded zip to the Root of the Sd Card then flash What ROM we will be using? Words in bold are my keys...
Thanks
EDIT: Scratch that.. I guess I should have opened the Zip first.
This is Bad Ass!!
Wow! My dreams have come true
Thanks!
Oh man, this is amazing! Any chance of Amon Ra at some point?

However I am confused about where I will get roms for this. Do I just use a nand rom and rename it update.zip? If so which files I am happy. Feels like the old G1 days. I am very confused about where to get the roms though.
HELP SOMEONE PLEASE!!!!!!!!
@Raider x
What I was getting at, I always see native android threads talking about flashing themes through recovery. Well we be able to do that with this?

Devs will need to release ROMs in update.zip format, there are none currently released although i am in the process of uploading one, you then copy the zip the dev provides to the root of the SD, and flash like you did on the G1

[Tutorial] how to format data & cache from ext4 to f2fs (cm12.1)

Maybe there is someone who do not know how to format the data and cache partition to f2fs (cm12.1 only), so I create this thread. Hope this tutorial can help.
The first step, copy the file mkfs.f2fs from /sbin to /external-sd (recommended). You can use file manager like root Explorer for example.
The second step, reboot the device into recovery mode(twrp recovery), copy back the files mkfs.f2fs from /external-sd into the /sbin
Step three, in the recovery mode, select wipe> advanced wipe> checklist cache> fs option > change fs> and click f2fs and Swipe for change. (if you don't see f2fs buttons, you must have a custom theme for twrp, or reload your themes to make f2fs button is visible. @vbvn thank's for your tips bro).
Repeat the same steps for the data partition.
And yeah,,, now you have data and cache partition in the f2fs formats...
Don't forget to backup Internal sd to safe your data (like a photos or mp3 for example).
For more detailed step, you can ask Google for it.
Greetings.
Sorry for my bad English
Screenshot
Thanks, that worked. I got the option for F2FS immediately after copying the file, though I have to copy it every time I have to format the partition else it says binary not found.
Good tip op. Also one can do a nandroid on data. Once cache and data has been converted you can restore data and reboot.

1. Yes, you can use this method to format /system.
2. As /system is read only, and F2FS doesn't really improve read speed, it won't be effective.
3. I haven't tested this, but I have seen no reports or have no reasons to believe miui supports F2FS.
There goes your answers. For next time, please read the thread, and use this little thing called Google. I've heard it's kinda awesome.

Edit Again: seem to be if i flash exposed framework from twrp it ended up bootlop at reboot system, gues exposed hasn't fully support of f2fs or maybe there is something wrong with my phone, mcurrently my phone work fastly after flash CM12.1 R18+GAPPS+SuperSU 2.46
@ippatt
Nice tuts. F2FS menu comes out after I copied the mkfs using the TWRP Recovery's File Manager. The only problem is, why did I get the log "E:Unable to mount /cache" after formatting the /cache into F2FS? This happens with the /data too. "E:Unable to mount /data". What went wrong? :S

Here is what I did after a lot of trial and error.
1) Download the latest firmware
Can be found here http://www.asus-zenfone.com/2015/06/full-firmware-zenfone-2-ze551ml-ww-V2.19.40.18.html
2) Copy the firmware in you external SD Card
3) Flash TWRP through fastboot
4) Go into recovery and click on mount, select all
5) Flash the firmware (it will try to create the partition table but fail)
6) Go to wipe (avoid the advance option) type 'yes'.
Once the above is done try flashing the firmware again. (a few errors will load but ignore, flashing will take around 30 minutes)

This is a complete backup of this rom.
Download the rar file, extract it, copy the TWRP folder to the root of the external sd.
Install the TWRP present in the rar file like this:
Open odin, click on PDA / AP select Twrp Recovery For Sm-n7505 4g only.tar.
Put your phone into download mode with Volume - home and power buttons.
Connect the usb cable.
Press start.
At the end of the operation, enter recovery with Volume + Home, and power.
Select Wipe / adwance wipe.
Select System, data, cache, internal storage.
Clean.
Press back.
Press restore backup, select ext sd card.
Click on Backup, swipe.

I followed every step you listed, until I had to restore, but no file was detected to be restored as a backup from twrp, I put the "TWRP" file containing the backup in the ext sd as you said, but nothing. another question, is data and sim working on this rom?

Do this:
With your rom, even if it is stock, install the TWRP, make a backup even of the cache.
Then take the file linked by me, and replace it in your backup.
should recognize it.
Data and sim work.

I don't know what version it is.
For the 4G version, it didn't make multiple versions.
If you go to the second post of the developer who created it, there is a version, while for the 3g model the V4 is mentioned
ı cant open drive link pls give me new link for n750 3g pls
ım waiting
