Battery usage on airplane mode - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

Hi all
I used my Nexus as a alarm clock last night and put the nexus in aeroplane mode overnight. It was on 67% battery at 11pm when I went to sleep, when the alarm work me up at 6.30 the battery was at 55%.
Does this seem a bit it excessive?

Airplane mode doesn't stop apps from draining battery. I run cleanrom with wifi on all the time and get better standby, so i would install something like better battery stats or wakelock detector to see whats causing drain.

I always sleep with airplane mode on. It drains about 2 to 4% (top) on 8 hours. Used Waterlock detector with grenefy (with advanced features) to optimize it a long time ago.

I've had better luck just turning off WiFi itself instead of using airplane mode when putting the tablet to sleep. I know it's counterintuitive, but it seems to drain the battery far less.

Thanks all.... I'm not rooted so can't do the wake lock thing

[Q] Battery suddenly discharging on standby

Hi all
Yeeea I know you may think "WTF! another battery drain thread" But I've search the forum and there is nothing about that strange behaviour of my little big desire.
Usually at night when my phone is in plane mode and on standby, the battery drain is about 2ma (CurrentWidget).
But after a few hours of standby, the drain suddenly rises to 40ma. If i turn the phone on and off immediately, the drain returns to a normal 2ma.
Any Idea?
I'm using SetCPU with a "Screen OFF" profile. Could it be the cause of this?
Attached is a graphic of my battery. You can see that starting a 2 AM the phone starts to drain the battery and stops when I've switch it On and OFF a 8 AM

[Q] Dialler a Battery hog?

Charged my battery to 100% before I went to sleep last night. After 7 hours sleep I checked my phone and it was at 83%. Juice Defender switches sync off all night and i receive no sms etc.
I checked battery usage using Android System Info and the highest user in that "sleep" period was Dialler having consumed 46%! Anyone know why this could happen and how I can stop it? Seems a high % battery consumption for something that wasn't used during the sleep period.

Cell Standby Drain - is there a fix?

Currently my phone is at 30% from 100% - 21 % of that is cell standby (mobile radio active for 16m it says), and only 18% of that is screen on (4.5 hours~). I tried turning off "keep mobile data active even on wifi" but that did nothing. Is there a known fix? I thought maybe turning off VoLTE would do it, but it just switches itself back on.
Strange. Last night for me the battery drop over 7 hours was zero. So I can't complain on standby battery drain.
Give some context to this maybe? Like how long was your phone on for? For instance, my battery is at 55% at 12hrs on battery with cell standby at the highest with 7% and my Screen using 2% with 2hrs SoT. Cause if your standby drain is over a full day, maybe you just have bad signal where you are?

Volte drains very little amount of battery. Do you have other things enabled like WiFi, NFC, Bluetooth, GPS, auto sync etc. which could keep the phone awake ? Download Devcheck from play store and check if your device is going to deep sleep.

Gps is on as well as wifi.
However as i have posted the battery usage per service. Only cell standby seems to be hogging most of the battery...
I am only left with resetting my device as a last alternative.
Checked via devcheck, it's a no go for deep sleep.

Android battery usage data can be unreliable. To check if cell standby is what actually draining battery try this-
Before you go to Bed, open Devcheck app on your phone and take a screenshot of deep sleep time after that leave your phone alone. Next morning open the app again and check the Deep sleep time. If all those hours are added to deep sleep, then cell standby is the actual cause of the battery drain. If the deep sleep time is similar to the night or only slightly different, then something else is keeping the phone awake and draining the battery.

Hey... Got it working... Thanks for ur advice but I ended up doing a hard reset of the device. And now the cell standby drain Is just 2-3 % overall.
Thanks though for ur help. I appreciate it. ?

Cellular Signal active even in airplane mode

I tried putting my phone into airplane mode to figure out why the cell signal standby was draining my battery so quickly - it would have higher battery used than SOT sometimes! So I put it into airplane mode, but turned on WiFi so I could still get calls/texts. I noticed the battery usage was still occurring!
I turned off WiFI and kept it into airplane mode and tha seems to have stopped the use, but is there a fix for this? This phone should not be spending it's entire life looking for a signal - unless the stats are lying to me my battery life could double without this huge amount going to cell standby.

Deep sleep issues?

Hi guys...
My phone won't go into deep sleep and I use the app CPU Spy Reloaded to check with.
Others with the same problem?

No problem with deep sleep here. I used 6% battery power last night. I normally put my phone on the charger when I go to sleep but forgot to. Noticed it was at 58% when I last put it down and right now it's at 52. I slept for 6 hours. Not bad I'd say. Getting close to iPhone awesome standby usage.
I had to greenify some apps. Problem solved ?

Mine on idle isn't great either. Looks like as default a lot of my apps weren't being put to sleep. Did a search in settings for "sleeping apps" and added most to sleep. Let's see if that'll fix it.

It's a Samsung. Give it a couple of weeks and it will calm down by itself
My phone had trouble with very bad standby time. Coming from a P30 Pro,that lost 1% while i was asleep,to note 10 plus that kept loosing over 8% in the nighttime while i was asleep.
I simply gave a reset network settings, reset settings and after that a factory reset with no backup whatsoever..just set it up like a new phone and this fixed it for me.
I used Gsam battery monitor and before this my phone would not go into deep sleep, and now it did the whole night and lost just 2%:fingers-crossed:
