Note 3 Neo or Xperia ZR ? - Galaxy Note 3 Neo Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Usage is going to be 95% web browsing, 5% Emails and Texting.
Or any other device in the same price range? (Don't want non-removable battery devices please.)
Xperia ZR internal memory of just 8GB seems an issue to me while in Note 3 Neo's case its screen being prone to scratches, poor processor chip, and a price difference of about 10k more than xperia zr doesn't see to be worth (18k v/s 27k). No updates, no kitkat for it yet either.
Any suggestion would be a great help. Thanks.

Poor chip? Dude , the performance is very close to snapdragon 800! You will get kk with note 3 neo , it's just a matter of time. Performance is better than zr. If you can afford note 3 go for it( difference in price should be small enough )
I bought it because of note features and samoled screen.

Lol ZR got nothing...how can u compare both

Haha I funny, comparing with ZR note 3 neo is much much better

[Q] Xperia T - worth buying?

Hey, as you probably know I want to buy a new phone. I was thinking about GS3, One X and Optimus 4x HD. Xperia T appeared and everyone say it's awesome, and maybe it in fact is (13 MPX, omfg), but there are some things which I am afraid about. Firsty: dual core CPU. People say that it's faster than quad core CPUs. Sorry, but I don't believe it. I mean - how the hell two cores more and more advanced technology can be beaten by dual-core CPUs? I have Intel I3 dual core and Intel I5 quad core in my PC and difference is HUUUUGE. I know that PCs and smartphones are in fact two worlds, but... LOGIC! The second thing which makes me Xperia T unlike are software buttons. The screen has 4,6 inch, with buttons it's smaller. One X, GS3 have 4,7-4,8 without buttons! When I test on screen buttons on my arc S I simply hate it. It takes so much place from the screen... Just unusable.
OK, so please tell me your opinions about Xperia T. And don't say something like "OMG, XPERIA T HAS 4444 POINTS IN BENCHMARK AND GS3 HAS 4443, IT'S MUCH BETTER!". For me benchmarks aren't really important - just pleasure and comfort of using smartphone. For example - Xperia arc S gets crappy benchmark scores on ICS, but with good ROM it's awesome.
BTW, what do you think about LG Optimus 4x HD? It's horribly tempting by its price and people in my country (Poland) say in net-reviews that's much better than One X and GS3. LOL. Possible? I have always thought that LG means just... Well... Simply, sh*t.
I dont know about performances but sgs3 is the best in my oppinion here. Funny thing is that in my country you cant buy only phone, you have to use predefined scheme of operator with package that would cost you 5 times more than phone.
I even bought Arc S in the "grey zone". Funny thing is that you cant even find XPERIA T in my country, and The only possibilities are HTC and sgs3. In my country on "grey market", sgs3 is about 700-800 euros which is a lot of money. Others i dont know...

Your explanation is really nice. I'm gonna think about Xperia T really seriously.
Anyway, waiting for more answers.
I prefer Xperia V, is almost the same and is dust and water proof, also have smaller screen with bravia engine 2... Doesnt matter which one is faster because with any of them you wont feel lag and can play smoothly everygame in the market
I also think that 4 cores are too much and will drain more battery
always Sony Xperia. than buy T!

The SGS3, without a doubt.. seamless performance, I must say.. but build leaves some "feel" wanting. But then again, depends on intended usage..Difficult question to answer..
Xperia T outperformed SG3 in benchmark. Samsung uses a worse core so that 2 of them is worse than 1 of snapdragon s4 (which XT uses).
GSMArena posted detailed review of Xperia T just yesterday, so go and check it out. Like I said the last time you opened almost identical thread to this one, for me Xperia T is better choice than totally boring and uninspiring design of SIII, or One X.
Or if you are craving for quad-core, then just wait few more months untill SONY release their quad-core, as I'm sure it will be the beast of all beasts.
Go for it - I Mean S3 Is For Me a Epic Fail - Just Used the one from a friend and compared to arc with GB pressed Home Button, started apps..
Arc is faster... S3 launcher redraw after browser it sucks... Xperia T My Love to sony - its awesome designed, xTreme Fast with S4 & great screen and cam - ill get 2 and we cab develop together

I would get the xperia t. Well, if you want a phone that has a stylish design and isn't mainstream like the GSIII, then the xperia is the one for you. It comes with bravia engine II i think. From my experience, the colour enhancement engine makes it really worthwhile. And about the dual-core. Don't worry, it's more capable than you think it is.
If you choose the s3 better install another launcher cause touchwiz sucks, I have an S2
LG OPTIMUS G
LG Sucks like Hell - anyway its so awesome 2GiG RAM fastest Processor avaible great cam & screen

I loathe the SGS3 and TouchWiz is an abomination. But the reviews of the Xperia T have hardly been stellar - yes it's good but ... I think Sony can still do better. The V is actually a better device tbh (no UK launch though, the idiots!).
If it were me I'd buy a Galaxy Nexus - yeh it's Samsung but it's down to £280 in the UK (less on eBay) for an unlocked version which represents great value for money and it's still a fantastic device. Plus ... it's a Nexus!
Or wait until November and see if the Xperia Nexus rumours are true (personally I'm not sure it will happen and we'll get another Samsung device).
Whatever happens my next device will be Nexus.

btw, the same goes for my parents too unless somehow i managed to persuade them..if i recall correctly maxio's age is around 14,so there is no way a job could provide him with that amount of money..
damn, lucky kids..haha
I feel that s3 is a better phone since it is guaranteed to have an excellent developer support, just look at previous galaxies forum...and with that kind of horsepower, large screen..you can stay with the same phone for 2 years without feeling too outdated, not to mention in my country, the price of galaxy s series is always stay unless the new one comes out,so if you decided to sell it to buy another phone, you wont lose too much money compared to sony..although i do agree the new touchwiz look worse compared to the one on the S2.Just my2cents...
Go with Xperia T. I am using SG3 too. Battery drain is more. HTC except beats audio no use.
I think that the reason why sony is preferring dual core considering everything.
Even I am also looking to buy Xperia T. Thanks for starting very useful thread.
Finally I want to say Xperia T. I'm loving it.

Note 2 or Xperia TL

I just wanted to get everyone thought on this. I get 40% off of Sony products through my employer. I currently have the Note and like it but the Xperia TL looks like a really nice phone. Better camera than the Note 2. Thoughts?
How do you feel about AOSP firmwares like Cyanogenmod?
If so, it depends on whether AT&T forces the TL to be fully locked (unlock disallowed) like with the Ion.
If the TL has an unlockable bootloader, at least one CM maintainer will be getting it. Right now, none of the current Exynos maintainers will likely be getting the Note 2.

While the TL has a better camera, the Note 2 has a larger screen and an S-Pen. It really depends on what you're going to use your phone for. If you're MOSTLY going to use it for the camera, then the TL is probably the best bet. I have the Note 1 and I'm waiting for it to break the 600 euro mark to order mine (currently at 669 here, but Amazon.de has it on preorder for 594, so I might order it when it's released through them, hehe). I didn't think I'd use the SPen that much, but I actually use it ALL the time.
I'd PERSONALLY go for the Note 2 because it's EVERYTHING I am asking for in a device:
Notification LED
Larger battery
Fast processor
Tons of RAM.
It's funny, because it's exactly what the TL Doesn't have, but the TL has a great camera, and it's also a great phone! So really, it's up to you... in the end, the phone has to make you happy.
Is the Xperia TL vastly outdated when compared to the Note 2? I really want to give an Xperia a chance. I want to experience the mobile Bravia engine that makes the Xperia phone screens just like the Bravia TV screens. Some say it's better than S-AMOLED. Thoughts? I have the note 1 and love the screen also had a google nexus which also had the same type of screen. Love the pitch blacks instead of washed out greyish blacks.
Of course Galaxy Note 2, its amazing device believe me.

OS 4.0.4 / 4.1
Notification led no (?) / yes
I HONESTLY think that the Note 2 is more future proof than the Sony. But Sony does make good phones. I mean, you can't go wrong. But I'm getting the Note 2 because it's a power house... The Sony seems like a feature phone, kind of, haha. I mean, it's not! But it has half the CPU and half the RAM. I have a big issue with the RAM in the Note 1. So the Note 2 fixed it. I think the Note 2 beats the Sony in every aspect except for the camera.

is this a good smartphone?

hey guys, i came from optimus 2x thread and my phone is getting old, i'm thinking to buy this phone, for people who have this phone already what can you say or what is your experienced? is this device can handle USB OTG in the future? what about the battery life specially in heavy gaming/usage? -----sorry for my bad english
What mobile carrier are you on? The zl is an amazing phone. I came from the note 2 which was also quad core and I feel this phone to be more speedy than the note 2 was. Benchmarks higher too. And compared to the g2x the battery life is a lot better from that. I can say that the battery is not ad good as my note 2 though.

Z or ZL?
I am coming from an Arc S and I'm just wondering if this phone would support mods coming from the Z where the forums is a lot more active; just like how Neo and Ray gets mods from Arc S...
I am still torn between the two, but overall I think both phones would be a good buy

Well from my past phone, I guess it was depend on what kind of mod it is, Roms of course wont work I wouldnt think, But themes and such might be the same.
AW: is this a good smartphone?
I'm using 2x as well atm, and I most likely will get the ZL soon. It was hard to choose between Z, ZL, HTC one and S4, but I think this one is the most beautiful and useful phone for me, although SoC isn't at Top anymore. I don't care of benchmarks, I need a mature phone and not some kiddy playtoy like samsung or htc. Thats what I think after weeks of thinking which phone it could be...
Don't want to offend anyone, just my 2 cents.
i think more people will go to sony ZL, sony Z is only special because of its water and dust resistant feature but other than that ZL is more attractive by its design and specially the IR remote

Xperia ZL or Nexus 5

Guys i am stuck in a dilemma between these two phones Nexus 5 and Xperia ZL.they cost the same here in my place actually Xperia ZL costs a bit less ($50).I really love the compact and rectangular slate like design of Xperia ZL and hate the rounded design of Nexus 5.my budget only allows me to get 16GB variant of Nexus 5 and here in India cloud storage is a far fetched dream so i am stuck with the 12GB space of Nexus 5 which i think is on a lower side.but the community support and S800 chipset of Nexus 5 are the attractive points of nexus 5.so considering you guys are using xperia ZL for some time now what do you think about the performance of s pro chipset,is it enough for browsing internet and i am not worried about gaming as i rarely use mobiles for gaming.I appreciate your help guys.
thank you.
If you are not using your mobile for gaming, why are you worried about performance at all? The Xperia ZL has no single problem with browsing the internet as long as the website or the app you are using are well-coded. I'm using Cyanogenmod 10.2 on my ZL and it works nearly flawless (1 or 2 minor bugs which don't interfere with stability).
thanks for the reply.btw what about the display.the image quality.whichever review i check they end up saying that the display is bad.i don't care about viewing angles, how is the quality when you are viewing it straight in front of you?
I had both for a few days - and ended up selling the Nexus 5 and keeping my ZL.
For me the reasons I didn't like the nexus 5 were:
-Poor external speaker quality / placement (holding phone in landscape almost always ended in the speaker being completely muffled).
-Camera quality - Xperia ZL's camera had it beat and the nexus 5 doesn't have a hardware camera button.
-no IR blaster
That being said, the nexus 5 was SMOOTH, and I mean SMOOTH. Whipping around in the OS was instantaneous, and the ability to unlock the bootloader with almost endless custom rom support is really nice. But overall I still preferred my "bootloader unlock = no" ZL.
thanks for the reply.one thing i observed when going through the thread that some models bootloaders can be unlocked and for some its not possible.is it depending upon the carriers?
so if i get a model without any carrier bound to it,so is it possible to unlock the bootloader?
i know its difficult to answer this question but if you know you can answer.thanks.
If you buy it unlocked directly from Sony you should be able to unlock the bootloader.
Before you buy it check in the settings if Bootloader unlock allowed = Yes.

As an indian, who was in the same dilemma two weeks back, i can say that i made the right choice in going for the ZL. The expandable memory is a huge necessity in 1080p phone, which you will use to consume media, im sure. Also, nothing can prepare you for how small this phone feels in hand and the quality finish, which an LG phone can not provide. Just get your self a seprate pair of earphones, as the provided ones have low volume. Side note : Install the honami camera mod. It's the most fun ive ever had with a camera.

The indian version has an unlockable bootloader, and head on, the screen quality is extremely good, almost as good as my dad's HTC one, and equqal if you tweak the white balance settings.
thanks you guys.i thin k i will go with xperia ZL.i really love its design and i always loved the sound quality of Walkman phones.
Xperia ZL Pros
1. Better camera performance
2. Much better design
3. Better speaker
Nexus 5 Pros

yeah only thing about XZL that haunts me is lack of custom roms.I don't know why there are so less custom roms for ZL,it has decent hardware and it used to be the flagship model but still less roms.i am interested in illusion rom if it gets to the stable build, thats more than enough as it has all the features of all roms.but teven that rom is stuck without any updates from last 2 months.

nexus 5 dsplay is better only in terms of viewing angles. Contrast and color wise its quite poor. At least head on, the ZL display is excellent, while having better outdoor contrast as well.
The point of comparison based on performance is little vague here, Because Processor of ZL is OLD, However the added advantage of ZL is that of Camera, IR blaster, Compact Design. Display is better in contrast and colours than Nexus 5, however vewing angles are not. trust me you wont really use in such angles. if you carry lot of Movies and music i would just suggest you to buy ZL as nexus is limited by storage where as ZL supports additional Storage of 64GB over 16 GB inbuilt.
Gaming
Its really good, i can play games like Asphal 7,8 deadzone at high graphic quality without any lag,
Browsing
Browsing is k considering that default browser is chrome which is by default laggy, but there are better browsers in playstore.
Recent update in nexus 5 has increased camera drastically.
Faster updates in Nexus, however Sony has announced 4.4 for ZL which will be available by next month.
at this point considering limitations best buy would be ZL where you get better features than Nexus, or in some case equal results,
battery is same in both, ZL gives 2 days in normal usage with wi-fi, txting , 2 hours of songs, an hour of game play with auto brightness at 30%. dono about nexus.
Before you Buy check the review on Local service of Sony, at some places there are really bad
thanks, I will check sony showroom or service center as most of my friends use Samsung soapbar (S4 ;p ) .
AFAIK the 4.4 update for all the models is scheduled to start from early 2014,4.3 will be released by next month.for my preferences the only place where nexus 5 outweighs XZL is custom roms but i also love sony's android overlay so i might stick with it for sometime.

Galaxy Grand is it a good phone?

hi
iam planning to buy the galaxy grand is it a good phone?
what i am seeing in the internet says it's not a bad phone
however what about the performance in gaming?
i am not a heavy gamer i'm just asking
also the battery is it good?
I will just give a quick pros and cons based on my a few months of usage
Pros:
5" screen, dual SIM, decent battery life, removable battery, micro SD slot, affordable price.
Cons:
Processor is slow for today's standard (about the same performance as Galaxy S2 and S2 plus)
Touchwiz (in my opinion) is badly implemented and hinders the full potential of this device.
Low res screen despite its large size.
About gaming experience, I can't say much cause I don't have a heavy game (such as Asphalt 8 or GTA SA)
If you can sacrifice the dual SIM functionality, then you may want to ditch Touchwiz and flash one of those AOSP-based ROMs to give the device some massive performance boost.
If you want to buy for Galaxy Grand 2.. Then go for it.. Because Grand 2 is much better than Grand..

Watching videos and listening to music on Galaxy Grand is quite good.. I have watched many HD videos on Grand and Expected price of Grand 2 is about approximately around USD 360 between USD 380. .
thanks maybe i'll wait
but if it was going to cost me alot when it arrives here in Jordan
i will go with the Original Galaxy Grand
ok another Q
what about battery drain?
when you watch a movie will it be consumed very quickly or what?
can you give me your feedback on this?
For me I like it
Battery is good , gaming for me I'm little playing but it's good if I play games..

You mean the battery consumed quick during a movie ?

last Question
any Custom roms here
have an arabic support?
The original Grand's price will significantly drop when Grand 2 released... But from what I've seen on papers, the spec doesn't make that much difference. The screen is larger (at 5.2", not suitable for one handed usage, even 5" is already too much) and more expensive (about 50-80 USD more) and it will ship with the same bloated Touchwiz albeit higher android version.
Some things to consider when choosing between Grand, Grand 2, or a different phone altogether...
About Arabic support... I have no idea about that.

At this point I would not recommend you to buy galaxy grand because it has become old and screen is average in 300USB you can get much better phones like the MOTO G which has a quad core cpu plus a 720p display and it also has 4.4 official update. It's not a wise move to get grand now, either buy grand 2 or any other phone or buy galaxy S3 which is still awesome now. Through bargaining you can get it at around 340-350USB. Reconsider before buying grand
sadly here in jordan prices to high for smart phones
also we don't have moto here and when the grand 2 hits market here it will be atleast 500USD
and the Grand 1 Will Disappear from the market like what happened to Galaxy S2

in that case u can surely go for grand.....if high end games are not much of a priority for you..........with cm based roms(albeit with single sim only ) would do wonders for your phone like majority of ppl here wud agree.........
but @goku15 was right to some extent..u can go for bargaining a S 3 .my friends have both S2 and s3 they are all on aosp roms.and they are mighty happier........by the way grand is not that bad i must say............

the 1 thing i realised after taking galaxy grand...no matter what happens, never take a phone with less resolution....
i would sincerely recommend u not to take galaxy grand...trust me..resolution matters alot....atleast to me...its not just about gaming mahn..its about every custom roms u implement.... ppi low phone is smthing u better avoid... it mere luck that we got some of the amazing developers here who have made kitkat available...but seriously... u shouldnt take it...... one of the 2 reasons cm is never out officially for this device is no broadcomm source codes available..and low ppi...all icons are big....everything is so big and not finishing......resolution matters...moreover..no OTG till date...lesser the chances in future too....video playback is good but its common now to play videos in hd on almost every cell phone....!!
i know respected developers have made a lot of things possible on our device... but in my advice... don't...
i had option between this and nexus 4....i took this coz of screen size...and it was one of biggest mistake...... truly speaking man... no hard feelings........
