(Solved +/-) [Q] Missing LG Quick apps - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The strangest thing happened to my G3. I had it rooted and since i was having a few problems with bloatware from my carrier MEO from Portugal) i decided to install the stock version to see if i could get rid of it. Installed .kdz file for V10a-EUR-XX and did a factor reset.
After that i still have all the bloatware of my carrier but lost root and all the Quick apps from LG (Quick Note, Q remote, and probably a few more and cant remember the name). Now getting it rooted again is easy, but where can i find those apps again since they aren't on Play Store?
Can someone help me out?

Solution i found was to install a new firmware, installed the V10g and the apps where back and the bloatware was gone.

[Q] Rooting process changed after new T-Mobile update on 9/10?

Hey,
I am wondering if the same rooting processes work after i install T-Mobile's newest update via KIES that came out on Sept 10,.I think its called T999UVALI5
The reason is because when I re-rooted my phone after T-Mobile's first update (the update that removed universal search), the phone was laggy when in recovery mode and when deleting programs in titanium backup.
If anyone has re-rooted with the new update, can you tell me what root method you used and if it is laggy in the same respect as mine was?
Thanks a lot for your help

Problem with bloatware after installing ROM from different country

Hi!
Yesterday I tried on my G3 855 to install various firmwares from different regions in Europe.
Tried Italian 10G, Europe Open 10E, German 10A, French 10A.
some of them I installed via TOT file and some via KDZ. Similar and simple way both of them. Every of them had some bloatware.
PROBLEM!
Every of that different firmwares worked OK but what happened...when installed UK rom i got BLOATWARE from ORANGE telecom.
After that I erased that one and installed another EU rom and I got TELENOR bloatware.
After that i installed new ITALIAN 10G rom and I got VODAFONE + bloatware from every rom that was before on my LG....
Before new rom I always fully erased memory.
What the hell?
After first initialisation of every ROM my LG automatically downloads all the bloatware from the past roms. So now i am having Vodafone, Orange, Telenore end etc. bloatware that I cannot remove.
Also after rom reinstalling after first initialisation again bloatware is automatically installed.
HELP!
Thank you

Ahh this issue! It happend to me with any KDZ. If i flashed without the sim in, as soon as i insert it and reboot BOOM 40 apps start installing, wallpaper changes etc The eaisest fix is to flash the Sphinx ROM. It seems to somehow debloat and un brand our device even after a kdz flash. Even if i flash the three uk kdz, my g3 remains unbranded.
@kmatisic
root then Look in the /data/.OP folder for a carrier folder and delete it then the bloatware will be no more.
Sent from my LG-D855 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I installed SPHINX and with this rom no bloatware. good.
After that i reinstalled stock rom. I thought that all the bloatware will not come back.
But...after initializing, 102 application automatically started to download. More that 100 bloatware apps!!! Again...
From where they are downloaded? Like LG is looking my IMEI number and says OK for this IMEI lets start to download 100+ useless apps.
So it looks that I am stuck with bloatware if wanted to use stock rom. I tried erasing via root but again they are back with any kind of rom update or etc.
I really do not understand anymore.
thx

Try just doing a reboot on the phone first after deleting it but from memory I think it only works if flashing/wiping again.

Do not delete the entire .OP folder. There's LG stuff in there that needed to be installed. Just look inside the folder for the folder containing all the bloatware and delete that one alone. It's easy to spot has all the bloatware apk files inside Normaly the name resembles to carrier names.
Then do a factory resert and all bloatware will be gone (you can re-install firmware just in case )

I made that mistake once by deleting the entire folder... never again.

Interesting what happened in last 2 hours:
- i installed again sphinX and I was bloatware free
- after that i reinstalled stock 855 10a rom and after initialization bloatware was again here (100+ apps from Vodafone, Orange, Telenor...)
- then back to sphinX. Tried your way to find this .OP folder but no luck. Maybe ther is no .OP folder in SphinX?
- then again reinstalled to try Italian 10g rom and no bloatware download after first startup? Still now after 15 minutes bloatware is not reinstalling by itself.
I do not understand, but now - in this moment no bloatware on Italian 10g (HUTCHISON) rom for me.
Strange but I will not complain
UPDATE:
Installed desired apps and changed setting as I desire on this 10G rom. I have zero bloatware apps.
Didnt root still.
No Network

[D850] Lollipop Update not found - Unlocked Phone

Hi,
I bought a LG G3 from Ebay which was blocked on AT&T for using it both in the USA and in Europe (I choose this model for its frequencies supported). It is a D850 model as you can expect.
After receiving it, I unlocked it to run different carriers. I rooted it as well.
I want to install the AT&T 5.0.1 update from OTA (I don't care about root right know). But I have one big problem. I keeps saying that my software is up to date which is wrong. Is it because I'm on T-Mobile right know and AT&T blocks the update ?!
I'm using build D85010d. right know and I never had a software update notification. I've tried to set my phone date to a couple days forward as suggested by Android Police. No luck.
I just want to have the update. After that if it says "you are rooted, you can't install", I will unroot it and reinstall.
Is there any way to update manually ? I heard it's impossible thanks to AT&T.
This is beginning to irritate me.
Thank you in advance

have you found any solutions to this? i'm using an unlocked att G3 as well (although not blocked) and I can't figure out how to update. i even tried to put someone's ATT sim in it and it still said it was up to date, which is completely false. god i hate att. can't update, can't use Qi charging, can't do anything.
I can't update my lg g3(d855) too. It's have the 4.4.2 kitkat and i want upgrade it to 5.0.1 lollipop.
Plzz help if u find a solution to this problem
Same issue .......how to update to lollipop manually ....................... if someone can help it will be appreciated :good:
I am having an issue with the AT&T Lollipop update, as well. I bought a D850 from eBay on KitKat 4.4.2, and when I inserted my AT&T MVNO SIM and checked for updates, it found the Lollipop update. It started downloading, but about 2/3 of the way through, the display shut off (I had it set for 15 minutes). When I got the display back, this action had stopped the download, and it did not continue. Now, when I check for updates, it just says I have the current version. I have run system resets, and tried a different AT&T SIM, but I can't get the Lollipop download again. Does the start of a FOTA download set a flag somewhere that prevents re-downloading?
Only thing I could think of is asking for a .kdz file for your phone and carrier and then flashing that using the LG Flash Tool
unable to update D850
I have the same issue. I have a D850 AT&T version and my is not showing any update available. I am in 4.4.2. Any solution how to update? Please help. Thanks to all
I'm another victim of this. Have someone found a solution? I'm desperated. And sad, I feel scammed.
At&t LG g3 d850
Hi, I'm New in the XDA forum.
My name is Neeraj
And when I saw your post, I found me.
What ever you do please don't do custom rom update.i found that in a hard way.
Like you I too bought one from ebay, at&t logo but unlocked, and while trying to update says it's up to date.
Later I found out I need at&t SIM to update the phone. Because it's only network unlocked not the entire phone. It still got some sorts of at&t restrictions.
Any way I went and rooted, installed twrp, and cm13 6.0.1 then Walla my phone goes into reboot loop and when it finally opens up the network doesn't work.
By the I'm in Australia , temporary residence and I don't have at&t SIM.
So good luck and infact i'm hoping some one will guide me too
I fixed it, don't know exactly if it will work on others.
But what exactly I did was search Google download official stock rom for at&t LG G3 D 850 ( KitKat or lollipop), flash the rom and Walla got my IMEI number restored and it fixed my boot loop problem.
Then backed up by all data, IMEI, etc and then flashes back to custom CM marshmallow. Now all is well. ?
Hope it this will help some one aleast a newbie lie me

[Q] [D855] branding regardless of ROM

Broke my Nexus 5 display and the insurance replaced it with a G3 (because the Nexus is out of production). So, things are a little different here from what I can see.
First off: Branding and Bloatware. New things for me coming from the Nexus family. There, I only needed for flash YAKJU over TAKJU (or something like that - was a long time ago) for the Nexus 4 and you were completely in LGs hands regarding updates. No other intermediaries or stains from other carriers. The G3 being a Vodafone terminal it had a lot of branding.
To get rid of branding I went ahead and rolled back to v10f, rooted and deleted the /data/.OP/VDF folder (after backing it up of course). Then updated to v20h. The result? Stock LG boot, sound, no VDF apps.
A couple of things remain though:
- the software version is V20h-226-01 . Why 226 and not EUR like I saw around here? Doesn't matter which stock ROM I put on it (bumped stock ROM). It still adds 226.
- default language is my native language from the start (Romanian). Why? Shouldn't it be English?
- still, the update center tells me I can install 18 apps, all Vodafone crapware.
I guess my question is, how can I get a pure international D855 without any carrier involvement? Is it even possible?
Thanks in advance.
You could roll back to kitkat, root, install TWRP, then flash a rooted version of stock lollipop. Should be the generic one. Personally, I use cloudy g3, which is still on 20F I believe, but if you want a 20H stock, try http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/stock-t2961073
That is the one I installed and that is the procedure I used to be rooted, bumped and lollipoped.
Doesn't matter, still v20h-226-01 appears, still VDF apps in LG update center bugging me to install them.

If you can get by with just not seeing the notification, just long click the notification, hit app info, and untick show notifications. Not exactly the solution you may want but at least it won't be an eye sore.

Stock LG messaging app

Hi there!
Recently i've crossflashed my V35 from AT&T to NAO USA ULM firmware.
Before flashing the new firmware,my default messaging app was the common stock LG app,but after flash, the default app is Google's messages.
I've downloaded and installed many versions of the stock LG app from apkmirror, but unfortunately non of these are working..when i try to use it as default messaging app,it always crashes and stops.
I tried disabling the Google messages, just in case of conflicting apps,so i can use the other app,but no result.
Ok the Google message app is working flawlessly, but i want to have the old class school app too as an alternative..any idea?
If you're rooted maybe try installing it as a system app? Also grant it the permissions it requires

Thank you for your reply anyway.
This is not normal and shouldn't happen. Was the stock messaging app missing altogether? What option did you use in LGUP when you cross flashed, whether it was a clean install or you used upgrade option and kept your data? Did you use any batch programs to remove bloatware? No matter what, it still is very strange that a kdz not include LG stock message app. This could also pose a security/malware risk as some out of ordinary behavior by OS could point to it having being altered. Which android version kdz (exact kdz name from lg firmwares download site would be great) is it and where did you download it from? My understanding is that usually kdz file cannot be altered so this is very strange. If you let me know which kdz it was, I can try test it on my spare v35.

Hello and thank you for your reply.
Yes the LG stock messaging app was missing from the begin..when i flashed the kdz and when i completed the whole set up of my device,i started checking if everything was fine.
When i opened the message app,to make my in app settings,i saw it was the Google message app and not the ordinary stock LG app.
For cross flashing i used the Partition DL mode for clean install..i dont know if this caused that problem, but i dont think show, because i've used the same method for my V30 without problem.
I never used any programs to remove bloatware..before cross flash i just disabled some AT&T apps but my device was working perfectly.
The kdz was downloaded from lg-firmwares.com,and the version was the V350ULM20f_00_NAO_US_OP_0218.kdz
It will be very kind of you if you can test it too and give me some feedback.
Thank you in advance!

Sorry, I was mistaken and also, I misread your original post. Since the days of LG V30 I haven't used LG's default Messaging app much as I started using Hangouts to call and text entirely, so I didn't even notice that messaging app had switched sometime in the last year or so. It seems that I have the same 20f version kdz from same website installed on my both V35 and don't have LG's messaging app either. I did look around online and although i didn't find any definite answer, it seems that a while ago probably starting with Android Pie LG messaging app stopped being offered or supported. You probably had Oreo when the phone was on AT&T and it had the LG's default messaging app preinstalled but once you went to Pie ULM kdz it was not bundled with the 20f kdz. By looking at dates on apkmirror website, it does seem that LG last updated it in February 2019. I also installed LG Smartworld and tried getting the messaging app that way but it is not offered there either. The ones offered on apkmirror and elsewhere on web do force close as you mentioned If you do get it working please share details or let's hope someone knows more and have a workaround. Good luck.

Hi!
Before crossflash i was on Pie with security patch level July 2019..this is how i received the phone from the seller..maybe this is the way the ULM kdz is been released without the LG stock messaging.
I dont know if a pre-20f ULM version has it included.
Maybe somebody else can give us this info.
Thank you anyway for your help.
