[Q] Note 3 neo n7505 knox - Galaxy Note 3 Neo Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have a question.
I have my note 3 for a couple of days. It is my first android device. (always used apple)
I Read something about a knox code. That will trip when I root my device.
Is that true, or is there a workaround?
Also, I read somewhere that KitKat was released for the note 3 neo (sm-n7505)
But no ota..
If I install the official rom of KitKat, will that also trip my knox?
I hope someone can help me with this

If you download the official rom from samsung then it will not trip knox

Nope, and everyone are actually asking about that 3 times a day. I suppose you can guess how bored everyone are with this question?
The update may come any next day.

I'm so sorry. Im just new to this whole android world.
Are you sure KitKat will support the neo?

We were promised on that by Samsung, and the KK firmware is under testing now, which is confirmed by a famous insider. So yes, we're pretty safe to say it will come 'soon'.

[Q] Downgrading 4.3 to 4.1.2 on GTN7105

I only really used to lurk the forums, but I've seen a lot of conflicting threads with regards to rooting/downgrading methods for this particular model which is why I'm asking here today:
My understanding is that KNOX itself will trip when rooting occurs and voids the warranty, and that it also blocks bootloading(?)
I made the mistake of updating to 4.3 a while back and I've regretted it ever since, and now that there's an OFW update to 4.4.2 (I'd rather not update it) I'm stuck between updating to 4.4.2 (Which might lock me out of downgrading) or staying with 4.3 until a solution appears.
Here are my device details:
SAMSUNG NOTE 2 LTE
GT-N7105
Android Ver: 4.3
Baseband ver: N7105XXUEMJ9
Build: JSS15J.N7105XXUEML3
I'm already past warranty so tripping knox isn't a problem, I just want to bring it back down to 4.1.2.
Can anyone give me advice or a step-by-step on how I should proceed? I've been looking for a solution over the last few months without any real progress...:crying:

Once Knox is triggered or updating to official 4.3 and higher one cannot downgrade to 4.1.2. So you are stuck with 4.3 and higher ROMs. Bye bye 4.1.2

Should I update?

I am already rooted via towel root. Is this going to update to NF1? And will I loose root?

You can upgrade to NF1 official firmware no problem, it will not change the knox status.
But unfortunately you will loose root and Towelroot is not yet compatible with rooting
the NF1 official firmware.
Good luck!
Thanks that's what I was afraid of. I think I'll just keep postponing it until I hear of a root method for NF1. Thanks again. God Bless

Don't do the OTA. You can retain root if you flash nf1 via Mobile Odin Pro app.

Possible root??

Hi guys, like all of you i have been waiting patiently for root on my VZW Note 4. Upon doing a little research i found that Chainfire has rooted the note 4. I went to his website to see if the SM N910V is compatible and according to the site...it is!!!!!.......
Can someone please verify if this will work on the retail version on the VZW SM N910V.
Thanks

You may brick your device. It is of course possible to bring your device back from such a disaster but you can avoid that by acknowledging that the Dev. Edition has an unlocked bootloader unlike the retail Verizon model which is why it was easier to root. I would wait for another method.

[Q] Android 5.0 Lollipop on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S

Will we ever realistically see Android 5.0 Lollipop on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S?
I hope so, this tab is more than capable of running it. Last years entry level xperias are getting lolipop and even the moto defy. I think aosp will come out about december then we'll see a touchwiz version Feb or something. Tbf there aren't many devs for the tab s
Early 2015 or at least in march is the latest.

My best guess. I read in an article somewhere about it.
I have read several times samsung will update flagship models to lollipop, so since the tab s series is their top of the line models atm they will get it like the other guy said early 2015. Now my question, if you have rooted and tripped knox will it be possible to get the update or will have to wait for a rom to flash?

I think we should get together a bounty/donation for eousphoros for a succesful port of CM12 (lollipop) to the Tab S 8.4 inch. It would be nice because it will help with his baby costs too! (that's the reason he's been busy)
hes the only hope we got,
eousphoros, let me know if you want me to start a thread or you can start one of those donate/pledge pages that keeps track of total, much easier. I'll spread it around good.

I just have to wonder, how you made it to XDA, and then in the general forum, managed to scroll past the resources, roms, and kernels sticky thread and posted this.
That's like standing under a waterfall and being like "yo, where is the water?"

I've all ready read all the post from xda a year ago and recently last week it still has the same post no updates. none of them seem to work at all, It would work for one day then my phone would get stuck on a bootloop alot of people have the same problems.

I traded in my rooted phone because I had issues with the headphone port and t-mobile didn't care about Knox tripped.
you won't miss out on much warranty coverage if you root your phone.
if you're that paranoid, rooting's not for you mate
