hello, did it work?
did you see the update after a factory reset?
I have exactly the same problem as you: new HTC M8x, turned on for the first time, language was chinese or something, started the update on my mobile data plan, I cancelled it, and after that no new software update whenever I check (it's been 3 days).
My phone has 1.54.709.12 (4.4.2) software version and I'm very frustrated because I don't know how to trigger a software update.
My phone has CID: HTC_621

Well, the updates are gradually rolled out by HTC. Thats their way. No worries. You can call up HTC to find out whether an update for your model has been released in your REGION. I had the same issue. They told me to check for the updates in the next 5 days. I received the update within 4 days ! The update process not only depends on the continent, but also on your local region, as they have to put the update on your local server... :good:

Is there any known way to mock my location (IP address) in order to get an update? I have a phone for Taiwan market and I'm in Europe

Good point. I can't answer that, because I never tried it. It's obvious that once an update for Taiwan variant has been rolled out, you can get it, since you don't have an OTA available right now even if you're in a region which got the first update; May be you will get it once it's rolled out in the region, where you bought the device. Anyways why don't you call HTC and have a talk over this issue ? Go ahead...

No it's being pushed out by cid. Mocking a location does not change that !
If you have s-off you can change the MID + CID + Firmware and stock wwe rom and then get the ota from Europe.

I chatted with HTC support in Europe and US, but they all suggested that I contact HTC Taiwan for my problem (because my phone is for Taiwan).
I've sent an e-mail yesterday to HTC Taiwan and HTC Hong Kong. HTC Taiwan doesn't offer English support in their chat, only Chinese.
And I'm waiting for their answer.
I'll keep you posted about their answer. In the meantime I'm just frustrated because I have a phone that will probably be the last to get future updates.

Yeah, I thought about doing that, but I have two concerns:
1. Render my device unusable, because of the different radio version.
2. Loose my warranty, which I will loose at some point, but not just yet.

Yep those are things to consider indeed and all up to you

Got a reply form HTC:
Please can you go to Menu > Setting > App > All app > write Updater , clear cache and data, restart your phone and try again. Also you may go to Menu > Setting > About > Software updated > set up to get update only by Wi-Fi. Try to set up your phone on s day when you get this update if you remember and back original language, and try click on check updates again.
And of course it didn't do nothing.

I was about to open a new post asking for this, my phone is Asian M8x and I live in Latin America, So I would like to make it more occidental, I already know how to change mid and cid but I'm not sure about what Stock ROM or firmware to use, I'm coming from a Samsung android ambient and I'm shocked on how different this is.

Yes, there was a software update released at the end of July for Asian (Taiwan) version phones.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55056273&postcount=1587
Btw I'm coming form Samsung too, and changing the firmware for other region is apparently way more difficult than before.

Well, if it's easy, than go ahead: unlock, s-off, change your cid & mid on your asian phone, to convert it to international version, and then tell me how easy it was.

Sorry, I think you misunderstood me, I'm not being sarcastic, I'm really asking why. The thing I have found difficult is that that I haven't found enough resources for ROMs and firmwares and which ones exactly I can use without bricking my phone (maybe is my fault for not looking)
By the way I have already done all that, but I guess I will read a little more before flashing.

OK, my fault for misinterpreted your message.
BTW if you succeed with flashing please leave a reply with the solution, as I may be willing to void my warranty.

Htc desire firmware update

Just been to the HTC website and noticed a new OTA firmware update on there.
I don't have my phone yet so can anybody confirm what improvements this offers?
Cheers
great hopefully it will solve all or at least couple of issues the users had so far
Did a manual update and it said I had the latest ...
sadly HTC rarely do change logs.
Although it must be very minor as it's only going from 1.15.405.3 to 1.15.405.4
Where on the HTC Site? I cannot see it?
I wonder if this is a quick response to the rooting of the Desire?
I hope not!
I'm on 1.15.110.10 do I have to wait for T-Mobile to update the software or will it be pushed asap?

should be pushed ASAP.
go into status and try a manual check. bear in mind that if it's done like the other devices when they get ota'd, it may be done over several days. so you may not get it till after the weekend.
Yours should go to 1.15.110.11
This 1.15.405.4 is the ROM that reviewers such as Tracy and Matt had right? I think that was the number in the video.
Just have to wait to see how long it takes T-mobile to push this out now.
Oh, and orange devices would go to 1.15.61.10 btw.
i got it via OTA earlier today but as you all know, NO INFO whatsoever! looks no different however hopefully will improve the shocking battery life......
YEAH RIGHT!
It mentions it on this page:
http://www.htc.com/europe/support.aspx
Doesn't say what's changed though...
Have not noticed any changes myself, most probably all back-end stuff.
What's all this about 405 builds for HTC and 110 builds for tmob and 60 builds for Orange?
Makes no sense.
My tmob phone notified me of an update today, but at the time I had to cancel it as I was busy. Now when I go to manually check for update it says I'm already up to date.
So where did it go?
First option on the "About" tab manual update.
Will I need to have the T-Mobile sim in for it to find the update then?
I have the 1.15.110.10 on my t-mobile and it wont manually update for me at all
Is the Desire going to be like some other tmobile phones and you cant get the official updates?
I have looked on the HTC support site and while it does say there is an update, can't it be downloaded via the site too?

Build number has always been difference between generic and branded HTC devices.
I've don my update, can't see any real change though. Maybe a miner update.
Things are much smooth on my Desire then my Nexus one.
Just checked for any updates on my Desire and it said there was one available, it downloaded no problem it changed my software number to 1.15.405.4 sorry I have no idea what it was before it was changed.

1.28.708.10 OTA now available

Now available in Hong Kong on Three, anyway. Will try it later, it's just shy of 30MB
Also available now in Australia......
Haven't installed yet...
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
I got it here in the US on at&t immediately after re-locking bootloader and flashing the 1.26 firmware/ruu/radio
Nothing on Three UK yet, but no surprises there
Just updated. Testing now^^
VF aus here just got the update 1.28.862.9
I wasn't having any major issues with any of the 4 one x's that we own, but we'll see if this causes any!
Steve
Nothing in the u.k yet.
The Indian Update
Just got the Indian Update. Updating.... Will let you guys know if there is any difference.
You people do know that the OTA update will most likely update your HBoot?
Which in turn means that it may not be possible to SOFF as soon as the solution comes out.
(Just throwing that out there...)
It did update the HBOOT. Now on 0.94.

If I haven't rooted it yet (nor have I with my HTC legend of old) then I doubt it will happen before the soff is resolved. My one x's are all business phones phones so I don't like messing with them.
Thanks for making people aware tho!

I'm still in 1.28.401.9 in the UK with Orange.
Can someone screen shot their phone if they've got 1.28.708.10?

This is a thread for the Asian OTA - 1.28.401.9 is the latest for UK handsets so you will NOT get this...
If an update has anything other than x.xx.401.x then you won't get it - it's not a hard concept to grasp

Thanks for the heads up... just updated and testing it out now. For those unaware, the firmware version is 1.28, the next 3 digits after that (e.g. 708) is region-specific. In this case, 708 is specific to Hong Kong. So don't worry if you're already on 1.28.xxx.

It's not so much UK-only - it's the EU vendor code. But yeah, we only get x.xx.401.x updates unless you bought the handset from somewhere outside the EU

Update released by today (28 Aug 2014) for HK Asia THC one M8

Nougat Update - Please help

I have an unlocked HTC 10 that I got from Jordan (Middle East)
This is my 6th HTC phone and I'm used to receive the OTA update before other regions do with all other HTC devices I had.
Now I don't get the Nougat Update and Everytime I check it says my phone is up to date (No update)
What could be the problem? It is the region? I looked online but found nothing about region schedules...
I could be wrong but Nougat has been released only for US Unlocked phones. I have this phone and recd OTA.
Nougat OTA has not been released yet for any region other than US. Htc has not stated the exact time frame for the release, and the only reliable information says it's gonna be anywhere between now and beginning of 2017. So ultimately, you won't really know when it comes until your phones shows an available update.

HTC 10 Nougat now has been released worldwide for GSM unlocked units and dev units, and also for ALL US units, the problem is just that carriers want to add their bloat.
I believe, but I might be wrong, European units are also receiving the update.

Is there a way to flash the Android Nougat update manually? Coming from Samsung and Huawei (this is my first HTC), I am used to flashing updates manually if they are not available OTA.
Officially its only the US unlocked/developer phone at the moment. Im not entirely sure whats taking so long for the WWE version (The predicted EU time was end of november/begining of december but its starting to push that a bit IMO). But you can flash the US RUU to your phone by changing the MID to 2PS650000 and the CID to BS_US001 (you need to be S-OFF obviously). It works fine on my phone in the UK (I did change my MID and CID back afterwards). Once the official update comes out, I will install that version over the US one.
HTC 10 Nougat
I purchased the 10 early 2017 in Oman
One month later it got updated to android 7.0
Eagerly awaiting for the 8.0

Android 8 isn't available yet for the HTC 10, so there is no way for anyone to "take care of it" until HTC releases it.

If you mean you are responding to the opening post you also realize that that specific post is over 1 year old, you really think he still didn't get the update ?
?

Htc 10 alrrady got android 7 but will it also recive android 7.1.1
Given that HTC usually updates their flagship phones with every Android version that is released within 24 month afterphone, I'd say YES.

Hi, just got a htc 10. It's running nougat 7.0 2.41.401.41. Is this the latest firmware? I went to the htc us site and downloaded the ruu for 2.41.617.3 which is the latest for the 10 but i keep getting error 170 connection error yet windows detects it just fine in explorer. Is this the wrong version for my phone or am i doing something wrong? Sorry for the noob questions i'm still new to android.

Unlocked or not, it doesn't matter. There are different firmwares for different regions. The 401 is the wwe firmware and the other one mentioned is the US firmware.
The one mentioned is indeed the latest wwe firmware. If the user wishes to change to the US firmware he must S-OFF the device with sunshine which costs 25 dollars.

Ok thank you for the info. The different firmware per region are what confusing if you are new to this like. I never had this issue on the jailbroken apple side (not that i'm ever going back). Is this an android thing or is it an HTC thing?

Yeah, we don't have that problem here in belgium. Thank the maker. The law prevents providers/OEMs from doing so.
