[DRIVER] [GUIDE] Finally, how to get fastboot to work on Windows 8.1 - HTC Wildfire S

Hi guys,
One issue appeared with Windows 8.1 which I found very annoying : the Wildfire S wasn't recognized anymore in fastboot mode. Not very useful to flash system or recovery images... Usually, the solution was to use Linux, but one cannot (or doesn't want to) install Linux on one's PC
So thanks to Auth from 4pda and @niks255 (I'm actually only reposting it here), we now have a way to make these drivers work on Windows. Here's what you need to know :
The actual issue is caused by a lack of BOS descriptor : the Wildfire S doesn't provide any although it has USB > 2.00. Windows 8 accepted it, but not 8.1.
To use this patch, you must have KB296791 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2967917/en-us) installed. To check this just go to Control Panel - Programs and features - View installed updates and type KB296791 in the searchbox on the right top corner. If you don't have this update installed, just update your Windows using Windows Update.
Then, download the attached registry key file, Fastboot.reg.txt and rename it to Fastboot.reg.
Open an admin console by right-clicking on the Start button and choosing Console (admin). Then type the regedit command. The registry manager should now open.
Choose File/Import key and import Fastboot.reg.
Done ! It was that simple. Now you can use fastboot whenever you wish

This isn't limited to just the Wildfire S, right? I have an HTC One S that I'd like to get this working with.
EDIT: Just tried it and it worked! Thank you so much for posting this!!!

Windows Phone 7 build 6176 Unlocked Emulator Image

Thankfully Microsoft didn't change anything in their 'protection' of the WP7 emulator image. Following the same steps as the previous build, I was able to unlock the new 'April Refresh' emulator image. It's largely the same but here's what I've noticed.
It seems a bit more buggy. I've noticed some odd screen drawing issues and even jaggy lines. Maybe it's my laptop?
Most apps seem slightly updated and more polished. A few quirks here and there.
Phone! Yup, you can see the dialer and it even fakes working.
Office is actually working. Looks like the apps shown in the videos they released.
v2... in my late night grogginess I missed the settings entries. This one should have all the settings unlocked now (including some new stuff that wasn't in the February build)
Unlocked Emulator bin v2 (multiupload) (fast mirror)
To launch it use the same process as before... "xde.exe WM70C1AprilUnlockedv2.bin"
Gizmodo posted a How to: Try Windows Phone 7 now. Although that was for the previous build, the same general steps apply. You'll just need to use the emulator bin above and the new Dev tools CTP - April Refresh. It will NOT work with the February release.

Yea we need a mirror, rapidshare sucks.

Trying to find a way to add a windows live ID to fully exploit the phone
Giving this a try just for fun =D.
I'm not getting any luck through the method that you mentioned to load up the BIN. Is there a way I can drop this file in a file, open up Visual Studio, and do an F5 to get the emulator going with the new image?

Replace the original one in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\WindowsPhone\v7.0\Emulation\Images\
I haven't tried with this one but you couldn't debug with the previous version. It will launch it though.
Cannot run the ROM!
Hey guys,
When I try to run the ROM, it hangs at the "Loading...." stage and doesn't go further at all.
Do you have any idea what I might be doing wrongly?
The first version of ROM works perfectly though.
Thank you in advance

Are you using the old XDE or the one released yesterday? I haven't tried it in the previous one but I'm guessing this is the cause.
I missed the registry entries for the settings in the original one. I updated the OP with the corrected file.
How to run?
I put the .bin in /.../microsoft xde directory and launch xde.exe and it doens't start :/

Perhaps you should post that on the OP, to prevent these questions as last time it was unlocked...
Anyone have any ideas as to why the other apps (mail, facebook, etc) won't connect? It's gotta be some stupid registry entry like the rest of the "unlocking" or maybe just in a XML file somewhere. I'm fairly certain that they're using "SNService" for windows live and facebook status update type stuff and ActiveSync with some new plugins for Live mail, etc.

Suggestion for Hosting Of Files

Sorry for being fussy here, cause I've always been a user of Mediafire, it gets the job done easily, so I kind of like it. Multiupload usually causes Megaupload to reject my ip, saying I have an elevated number of requests, bla bla. Rapidshare works only after a number of tries with the different server under advanced options, and the only one i use is zShare, and it sucks cause it downloads at unstable speeds(i get a speed ranging from 30kbp/s and 100kbp/s) while my max speed is 300kbps! Well, thanks for reading. It's okay if you don't change, I can live on.
EDIT: I saw the 100mbits server website, thanks freedom! although this is still a suggestion for the hosting of your files. thanks

[APP] [3.0+] Use Pc Keyboard via Bluetooth

This app is based on an idea that was posted in the general section called PCBTKeyboard, but it could not write outside the app.
So I wrote an app that simulates a keyboard and with this one can write inside and outside any app.
The app was developed on the Acer Iconia Tab a100 so the target platform is Honeycomb. Hope you enjoy it

Instructions:
1. Start server
2. Go to Bluetooth Keyboard settings
3. Select the PC the server is on
4. Select the Keyboard as input method
5. Voila, you can write on your Tab

Is there any way you could recompile this for android 2.3? Or better still if you can release the source code
it can connect any keyboard as my pc has bluetooth?, you saved me spending = D
Would be good that you generate a shortcut (key combination) to move the keyboard automatically from the PC to the tablet.
I will try these days, thank you very much
supports shortcut keys (example: play / stop / volume (-) (+))????
you could do something similar for the mouse? so could use the tablet comfortably with the monitor
sorry, do not speak English and use the google translator ajaj

Sure, I can release the code.
It is intended for Honeycomb, so it wont be that easy to compile fore 2.3
I will post the source code today or tomorrow

Hey,
I also wanted to do a mouse, but its not that easy.
I think you only have to focus on the window and than it will write on the tablet.

This is a community port of Jolla's SailfishOS for the Galaxy Nexus.
It features a gesture-based user interface with a unique design and ease-of-use in mind.
For more information about SailfishOS please head over to sailfishos.org.
This is not an Android ROM, this is a different operating system.
It only uses parts of Android for hardware enablement (drivers).
Special Thanks to vakkov, sledges, mugna91, the Mer Project, the Nemo Project and all the fine people over at #sailfishos-porters
Release Notes:
This release is based on SailfishOS 1.0.8.19 (Tahkalampi).
The Galaxy Nexus port is considered to be of alpha quality.
Though depending on your usage it might be stabile enough for daily use.
Bug reports:
Please issue bugreports at the Nemo Project Bugzilla.
Known issues:
Due to an issue with ofono, reading from SIM does not work. You'll need to remove your PIN lock before flashing.
Setting an ambiance (color theme & wallpaper) causes hangs. Either needs the battery to be pulled, or you can SSH into the device and run:
systemctl --user restart lipstick
The startup wizard is getting skipped for now, due to the issue above.
The Jolla Store currently does not work. As an alternative you can try Warehouse for OpenRepos.
The camera does not work.
Due to redistribution issues the codec for MP3 can't shipped. To enable the codec run the following command:
devel-su zypper in gst-av

Nice & interesting..
Awesome! I'd love to check this out, as I've been following the progress in the other thread! (And because I'd actually like to check sailfish out, I never experienced Maemo and Meego so this will be an entirely new experience). However the XDA download link is unbelievably slow (Topping out at like 30 KB/s maximum on a decent internet connection). Does anyone have a download link from a service such as Google Drive/Mega/AFH? I'd be extremely thankful if someone did have a mirror, and would return the favour by uploading it. (If the OP allows for mirrors).

As mentioned, the "Alpha" tag is pretty much justified. Thank you for testing.
Also, the "untrusted software" switch is pretty useless and installing 3rd party applications
is supposed to be done through the command line for now.

I assume you'd need to elevate to root using devel-su, and then use one of the commands I've quoted below to install the warehouse rpm.
From terminal, root
Install a package
rpm –ivh packagename
upgrade a package
rpm –Uvh packagename
you can find out what the switches mean by doing a rpm --help from the command line.

I think -ivh would indicate installation and -uvh being the uninstall process

[GUIDE] Deploying Astoria Packages Manually To W10M

MOD EDIT: I'm closing this thread for now until the possibility opens back up for us to get Astoria running again. Too many posts cluttering away
Hi everyone,
After several days of sniffing Windows Update traffic and lots of downgrading
, I've found a way to get Astoria installed and working on the HTC One M8 for Windows. that's right..
In THEORY, this should work for all devices that aren't supported by Astoria project.
The reason for this: In the process to go straight to 10536 directly from wp8.1,
the needed aow.wim file got pulled by MS (for security reasons i suppose
and i have no idea when or if they will bring it back).
Requirements:
-installed WDK,WPAK,WPDK (containing iutool.exe) get it there: http://forum.xda-developers.com/win...ools-wdk-wpak-wpdk-cabs-building-wp8-t3183972
-w10m build 10536 installed on phone
-usb connection to pc
-astoria cabs
Here are the direct download links of the needed astoria cabs:
10166 (canonical)

Instructions:
-Go to iutool path in cmd with admin rights (usually c:\program files (x86)\windows phone kits\8.1\tools\bin\i386)
-Type "iutool -l" to see if the device is connected and recognized.
1 put only the first cab (10166) to a new folder like c:\cabs
2 then type: iutool -v -p c:\cabs
3 it should push the cab to the device and start the update.
4 there might be a error 0x8024a110 but it should work.
5 the device will automatically reboot very soon and go to flash mode (gears) to apply the cab.
6 then there will be the usual "data migration".
Repeat steps 1-6 with all the cabs in correct order one by one.
Astoria should now be installed and working.
There are already guides on xda about getting apk's installed via wconnect.
Thanks to @snickler for helping me with the method to obtain the cabs even if ms tries to prevent it.
Thanks to XDA Dev Team for daily chats and support.

Well you sir are a genius, lol, thank you very much, will try it and report if it also works for my device (which has 512MB RAM only).
Anyone could upload iutool.exe?

You need to install the whole package, just iutool won't work, take it from the xda thread linked in the OP and install it, it's kinda big but the download speeds are good (if you do have good internet speeds).
I have a 6 GB limited plan. I will download at work
I can't seem to be able to flash the second cab, the first one gave the error but flashed but the second one gives the error and nothing happens.
EDIT: @Bnjalal do we need to keep the first cab in the folder, as far as I could understand from your instructions the answer would be no but I can't flash the second one?
Or do I need to do anything else?
@Ranomez my good Sir, I am not the op of this thread, I was just reading the threads trying to figure out why my 'supported device' getting error 14 and came through your posts and struggles and wanted to contribute to the good community. I am really sorry that I am not as experienced as the others here at XDA and thought that mentioning you here was the least I can do to offer help or support. But for the time being, I'm sure the OP will reply to you and offer support as he was the one who made the find

Oops, excuse me, I don't even know how I managed to confuse you for the OP, lol, sorry again.
EDIT: Meanwhile I answered my own question: DON'T keep the first cab in the folder, my device seems to be stuck in the flashing screen.
@Ranomez no worries pal, wish you all the best
An alternate way instead of putting them in one folder, you can call the individual cab directly. So instead of c:\cabs, you would put c:\cabs\blahblah.cab and it will stage that particular cab.
Throwing them one by one in a directory is an easier way to keep track of your progress.
Except the initial cab file the others just won't flash, might be cause I already installed the astoria files in the past with the change model trick (but it never worked) but I doubt it, probably it's because the device has 512MB RAM and astoria does a hardware check for that.
Anyway just to be sure I will downgrade to WP8.1 and take the update again.
BTW why not all cabs at a time ?
No need to DLOAD 6GB Stuff.
i836 is enough for everything, if any one would share. Just below than 10 MB

Because the cabs won't install all at once as some are diffs. Each cab is a corresponding package version. It checks for version dependencies and if there's a clash or if you're trying to install a cab that is lower or higher than the dependency, it won't let you do it.
@snickler oh yeah, got it, thanks mate !
Btw I saw you after a long time, where was hidden you
I've been around .
Confirmed 100% sure that this doesn't work on 512MB devices...only the first file can be flashed, the others can't.
Which means astoria does do some strange device hardware check or something like that.

Yes, exactly this. My 920 is still choking on trying to go to 10536 from 10166. Guess the servers are a bit bogged down with the 8.1 Update 2.
I'm certainly going to try this one.

Development [Somewhat DISCONTINUED [Script] Advanced rootless debloater for Samsung phones (and Tablets)

The script is written in python so you need to have python installed (most linux distros come with it anyways). A download link is provided on GitHub.
How to use:
1. In order to have a flawless and smooth experience, back up your data and do a factory reset.
2. Enable USB Debugging
3. Download the program and run it. A window should pop up on your phone. Please confirm.
4. Type in "Y" if you are asked if you are running it for the first time. This will completely nuke your phone and leave you with a settings app
5. After thats done chose a preset (right now only the default Samsung one works!!!)
6. After its done you can either set up your phone like normal or chose from the other options (for example if you want software updates or NFC support).
If a feature you use gets removed:
1. Install package names viewer from play store and look for the package name of the app/feature.
2. Run the program and enter "N" if you are asked if you are running the script for the first time
3. Chose option 10 and enter the package name
If you encounter any other problems feel free to tell me about it here.

Yeah, but why is this showing? ...
in which file?
!!! Warning
The program I used in order to compile the python file is probably malicious. The py file is undetected by virustotal but the compiled exe is. I will remove the download until I fixed the problem!
DO NOT RUN THE .EXE UNTIL I PROVIDED A NEW DOWNLOAD LINK!!!
NOICE! NICE
Update:
Ok I repacked the script without the malicious .exe. Once again, I apologize for the inconvenience. Now you also need to have python3 installed on windows. A download link is provided on GitHub.
Also, next release will add the missing features.
Have fun with my little script!
Works perfect.
Hope option 3 comes soon.
when i connect the phone to pc nothing happens, no popup.
usb debug on, i did factory reset.
i connect the phone and the phone asks me if i want to share files with pc, i consent and then i open up your program but nothing happens
Edit: well i solved coping the script in adb

Glad it worked and thanks for the positive feedback I'm working on the other options and will release them in the next couple of days. I'm a bit busy right now because of school but I try to deliver it as fast as possible

Nice to hear that you managed to solve the problem, however, did you try installing the USB drivers from Samsung? (either manually or by connecting your phone to your computer with usb debugging on and performing a windows update)
which applications are needed to make samsung findmyphone work and to enable backup of Secure Folders?
Can i remove google services with that too?
Are there any description what each of the options do? (more detailed?)
Can you please add an option to debloat GOS, game booster and Game launcher also any other system app that may be throttling the tabs performance?
Thanks

you can use ADB AppControl to find apps and remove it or find names and add it to this script
edit:
I also found Universal Android Debloater GUI

Yes but it is not a root debloat so you cant replace them with microg. To remove gms from your phone you have to choose option 11 and type in com.google.android.gms and com.google.android.gsf
