Trouble with flashboot drivers - Kindle Fire 2 Q&A, Help and Troubleshooting

Ok my ADB drivers are working perfectly fine and show up on the list of ADB devices but now there is a bigger problem. When I put in my flashboot cable on my CMD it still says waiting for devices and Windows is trying to install some drivers that fail. Otter2-prod-4 is what it says in device manager I know that is my kindle fire but until that works my first time to attempt to flash my kindle is dead. My kindle fire is rooted and is on version 10.4.6 if that is helpful but the quicker it is the better I'm hoping to try to flash slim cat 6 Rom on here by Sunday

KF2 fastboot issue
Same issue only Im not rooted and on ver. 10.5

Need help rooting Kindle Fire 6.3.1

I'm using Win 7, I've edited the adb_usb.ini and put 0x1949 in there...I'm running the latest Kindle Fire Utility.
adb status says offline
boot status says unknown
I'm stumped..
dude...you're a badass!
I didnt get it to work on my son's Windows laptop, so I tried it on VirtualBox under XP and its working right now.
I think its because he already has an Android device installed...even though I uninstalled it, it still recognized the Kindle and didnt take my "update drivers" saying the latest drivers are already installed.
only problem now is that when I run KFU, did perm root and now it just stays in fastboot mode...cant do anything else.
nevermind.. with KFU, I got it to boot. whew!
Solved - the stuck 'ADB status: Offline'
At last - after seaching here for many days with zero success trying to get all sorts of drivers to work - the above did the trick for me using XP on an Acer Aspire One notebook.
Huge thanks.

[Q] Broke Kindle Fire's Ability to Mount

Hey I'm a brand new member so I apologize in advance if my problem has been solved already, however, I could not find anything on any of the threads. Okay so I am severely confused right now. I have had my Kindle Fire for almost a year now and this problem has never occurred. Ever since I got my Kindle I have been experimenting on it. I rooted it and have flashed many different custom roms. I had been using TWRP Recovery 2.0 for a long time and when I found out that it was outdated I updated it to the new 2.2.1.1 version...Everything seemed to be working perfectly until I tried mounting USB storage in the new TWRP...It did not work. My computer wouldn't recognize it. I kind of just let this slide since I figured I wouldn't need to mount USB storage in TWRP unless it was an emergency. A while later I switched back to the Kindle's stock rom. That's when I noticed that it would not mount...Not only was TWRP not mounting, but it was my Kindle altogether. I deleted all drivers that had any thing to do with Android from my computer. After restarting both my computer and my Kindle I tried mounting again...Nothing. The drivers weren't even reinstalling. To test wether this was a problem with my computer or my Kindle I got my brother's Kindle Fire (Never had any tweaking done to it) and mounted USB storage. It installed the drivers and mounted just fine. I then plugged my Kindle back in and it mounted just fine also. I thought I had solved the issue, but about an hour later I tried mounting my Kindle again and nothing happened. My brother's Kindle will mount (Actually there are a total of four Kindles in my house all of which have not been tweaked except for mine) but mine won't do anything. As a last resort I deleted EVERYTHING with TWRP and flashed the Kindle Fire 6.3.1 update.zip. My Kindle is now true factory default (no root, custom recovery, etc...). I thougt for sure this would work but IT STILL WON'T MOUNT USB STORAGE!!! When I plug my Kindle in and go to "Devices and Printers" it recognizes my device as a "Kindle" but I just cannot get it to mount! I am now stuck with a Kindle that cannot be re-rooted or anything due to the fact that it cannot be recognized with ADB. Sorry for the long post...I am just trying to give as much information as possible. By the way I am running Windows 7 and my Kindle is the only one that will not mount which makes this problem have nothing to do with drivers or my computer. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Wheww okay well try a factory reset this will wipe your sdcard as well. It should resolve most your problems. There are multiple things that can cause this to happen but one thing that really comes to mind. Are you ejecting your kindle before hitting the disconnect button? Just a wild guess but failing to do so can cause this disorder the very next time you plug it in. Something that could resolve minor sdcard issues is
Code:
fastboot oem format
don't let this make you to crazy yet RC soupmagnet should be releasing something very soon that will solve the majority of SD card mount problems hint hint . You will need to reroot and flash a custom ROM on it to have success though. So if nothing works hang tight and stay tuned.
This might help

Thepooch, no I had not been ejecting it before disconnecting. I'll do that from now on. Also commands do not work because my computer doesn't recognize my Kindle as either a storage device or an ADB device, and what does it mean what it says "fastboot not found"? I made sure I have the fastboot.exe in my ADB folder...Soupmagnet, I can't get those commands to work since I'm no longer rooted and my computer doesn't recognize me...

Yeah I downloaded the newest Kindle Fire Utility and installed thoose drivers. When I plug my Kindle in and go to "Device Manager" it lists it as an android phone with ADB Interface. If I plug any other Kindle in then it installs new drivers and doesn't list the ADB Interface. Is this normal?

I don't use Windows so I couldn't tell what's normal for that OS.
Use the tutorial here to confirm your drivers are installed properly. Then Shift + right-click on your KFU "tools" folder with adb.exe and fastboot.exe, and select "Open command window here". Enter your adb or fastboot commands there and see how it goes. Start with "adb devices" to see if you are connected. If not, reinstall your drivers and try again.
Some ROMs have different product IDs than the stock OS so you may want to look into that if you are using a custom ROM, and edit your androidwinusb.inf accordingly. I know some JB roms have a PID of 0004 instead of 0006.
If for some reason Windows refuses to cooperate, you could always set up a Linux LiveUSB and get it done a lot easier.
Okay so I've been fiddling around with stuff. I completely uninstalled all Android drivers again then restarted my PC and Kindle. This time I plugged my Kindle in and it installed the correct drivers. It mounted USB just fine. When I tried reinstalling the ADB drivers that came with Kindle Fire Utility it erased the Kindle's normal drivers, so now it won't mount anymore...at least I know that it is a driver problem and that my Kindle doesn't need to be repartitioned. I'm really getting sick of Windows and its annoying drivers...Any ideas on how to get all the drivers to work? If not I think I might just install Ubuntu and screw the need for drivers.

If you run the driver bat packaged with kfu with the device plugged in sometimes it will waste the mass storage drivers. It`s always best to run it then plug the device in and see what windows decides to install. Unplug, replug, unplug, replug as well as try this while in recovery because it will also attempt to install the drivers as well in recovery.

[Q] Help me with the fastboot mode on my KF2

Hello everyone, I have a Kindle fire 2 with 10.3.1 bootloader, and I want to install a jelly bean rom, but I canĀ“t install a 2nd bootloader or the 1-CLICK METHOD of fmkilo because my bootloader version. I need to downgrade first right? ok but to downgrade I need to get into fastboot... I don't have the cable yet. but I rooted and tried the adb shell comand to get into the fastboot mode. Perfect the tablet get into fastboot ... it says:
Fastboot (red font) and a kind of semaphore with the green light blinking.. but in the pc (windows vista basic) it says it found a new hardware named Otter2-Prod-04 but there is no drivers for that device, not in windows update. the amazon drivers doesnt work, the kfu drivers neither, I don't know what other drivers try... here is where I'm stuck...
To clarify if the kindle is normally turned on the pc recognize it like kindle fire -> andorid composite adb interface but if I use de adb to get into the fastboot mode It changes to the otter2-prod-04 and cant find drivers...
What can I do to fix this? where can I find the proper drivers...??

stack in kindle logo

hi.
after i rooted my kindle with success i restarted it and it stack to the boot logo screen.i cant see the kindle anymore as a device in the computer.when i connect my kindle it appears for 1 second to the hardware devices and then disappears.so i cant send any command through fastboot.anyone has any idea what to do so i can fix the kindle?i ve tried everything there is in this forum but with no luck
Try running this with your kindle unplugged and off,
fastboot -i 0x1949 getvar product
Once u run that it should say waiting for device, now plug the kindle in, and if it doesn't automatically power on, then power it on. It should go into fast boot I think. I am a bit unsure if it will because of the fact I don't own an 8.9" kindle, but I think I remember this method didn't work on the 7" model, but read it was more so intended for the 8.9" model. This would probably be more likely to work on Linux, because if you haven't installed the adb drivers before on fast boot, then I don't think windows will finish installing them before then device disconnects, but that's just what I think. Post results plz.

I agree that it's probably a problem with the fastboot drivers not being installed on your PC, so the tablet leaves fastboot mode.
Does the Composite ADB Interface driver on the 2nd bootloader guide include fastboot driver? Perhaps if you install it as a legacy device via device manager without the device connected, it will connect after?
Personally I had difficulty installing these drivers as I'm on Windows 8 which disables installing drivers that arent digitally signed by default, if you use this OS then you need to toggle this via advanced startup options first.
O yea I know windows 8 is a total pain when it comes to unsigned drivers, had to deal with that on my friends pc. You can always try an Ubuntu live CD since the drivers won't be an issue. Is it staying on the non animated logo or the animated kindle logo after the device disappears?

the device disappears after one second from the hardware devices.it is staying on the non animated logo forever till the battery is dead.i have tried everything.i have installed the drivers with no problem and i even rooted the kindle.but after i restarted it the problem appeared.i ve tried to run the command with the kindle unpluged but when i plug it to the computer nothing happens.i tried usb2 and usb 3 ports, i tried windows 7 and windows 8 and pretty much everything i found here in the forum.still no luck
First off, your device is not in fastboot. Second, it is very unlikely that rooting alone would cause your device to hang at the Kindle Fire logo. Is there anything else that you attempted to do to your device before this happened?
Before getting to the appropriate solution, it would be beneficial to know what you used to root your device, whether or not you tried installing a custom bootloader/recovery, and what device you have in the first place.
i have a kindle fire hd 8.9" with 4.1 in it. i have followed this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2277105 so i can have root access. i used the binary method for the rooting.after i succesfully rooted the kindle i installed the astro file manager just for testing the root and it worked.then i followed the steps for installing the 2nd bootloader with twrp. it installed succesfully and i was able to boot in twrp mode. then i restart the kindle then it stack in the logo.thats pretty much all

Now we're getting somewhere. You should do as stunts says to get your device booted into fastboot (see below)

If that doesn't work, you need to either fix your drivers in Windows, or use Linux (I believe he mentioned that as well)........Those are your only two options.
You'll need fastboot restore the partition images you saved in step one of the 2nd bootloader thread and start over.
at last.thanks a lot mate for your time and the tool you have created.i installed ubuntu then i used the soupkit and it finally went into fastboot mode and then i used kffirst aide and managed to make kindle work again.thanks so much.now i will try again to load the 2nd bootloader and install a custom rom.
